GREAT deal...if she wants to play just get her stats and t-shirt size and post in the thread...that would be super...maybe some free PR for the game....I'm thinking this is going to be a winner! Come on folks...you don't want to miss this event. Working on some special silent auction items as well....How about two Club level Seats to the Nov. 19th game against Western Kentucky???? GOAL SET: We have set a goal of $1500.00 net proceeds to the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund from this year's event. That would be bigger than last year's and that one was the largest to date. Can we do it? ABSOLUTELY we can... Want to mail a check? It can be made payable to the UNT ATHLETIC DEPT. All proceeds will go to the Scholarship Fund. If you would like the mailing address so you can get it to me just PM me and I'll give it to you. We will need some company or personal sponsors to be able to meet/exceed this goal. So, if you can and are willing to help, we really could use the support. It's for a great cause...and, as you know, every dollar raised through this event frees up a dollar in the athletic budget for other needed areas such as coaching salaries, other scholarships, facilities, travel, etc., etc. I hope we can count on your support. GO MEAN GREEN...GO GMG.COM BOWL 8...the last officially sanctioned football game at Fouts Field...let's get ready to rumble!

Beauty or lack thereof is often in the eye of the beholder. On another note...I am firmly convinced that one's college football game day experience has as much to do with the individual doing the experiencing...their preconceived ideas and their personal attitude as it does with the stadium and team. I cannot recall a college game I've attended where I did not have a good time. Sure, some of those "good times" were definitely "gooder" than others, but it was college football and I was there to experience it in person along with the pre-game festivities and all that goes along with a college game. Some may find that statement hard to believe, but think back on your game day experiences. Are your memories just about the final score, the stadium, etc.? Even the games where "my team" took a pure beating presented a game day experience that sure beats sitting at home and not attending. Besides, a few post-game beers can help take away the pain of any loss. Really, think about it. It's college football, co-eds, beer, tailgate food, friends, family, pageantry, beer, co-eds, college football, beer........

This point might be made regarding some of UNT's Alumni and fan base as well.
-
Nice perks and bonuses...could make that $150K base grow pretty well...many of the perks/bonus categories do not seem that difficult to obtain. Good for her.
-
Folks...I am also looking for silent auction items for this event as well as sponsors. If you or your firm can provide an auction item that would also be a great help in raising funds from this event. Time to sign-up to play...we have about 18-19 so far...many more needed to make this a great event and so those playing are not so worn out that they cannot properly enjoy the post-game tailgating experience. You can PM me through the board if you would like...would love t see some response... This is going to be fun!

TV...for a UNT spring game? WOW...be still my heart. While I am hopeful that the dept. will set up some sort of on-line streaming or video, I am highly doubtful of any TV coverage....but, one can hope. I long for the day when UNT would get some sort of regional coverage for its spring game.

Charlotte Ad Shocked And Disappointed In Aston Resignation
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Well, based on the success she has had at Charlotte, if I were the AD I might be "shocked and disappointed" as well. Always tough to lose a successful HC, but, if you are a "Charlotte" of the world of NCAA sports you just have to know that schools will come looking for your coaches if they prove successful. Tough deal for Charlotte, but I am hoping a winning deal for UNT. If true, this seems to be a great catch and hire by RV. Now, she just needs to go to work and undo the damage to the team that Coach Stephens seems to have done the last few years. Getting this team back will have as much to do with showing the team that as their HC you will not only coach them but you will support them both on and off the court and that playing can be fun as well as hard work as it will have to do with actually winning. The winning on the court will come...this coach has proven that she can coach at the D1 level, but winning the team's confidence back after the "Stephens years" should be priority #1. GO LADIES! GO MEAN GREEN! -
If true, this would seem to be another great hire by RV. Stepping up to hire an experienced and successful HC for our women's team is long overdue. The women have as much potential to win and win big for UNT than any other program at UNT. What a great thing it would be to see our ladies playing with smiles on their faces once again while bringing back that winning attitude. Looks like good things are happening for the ladies. I'll be happy to see this hire confirmed, but "it ain't over until it's over"...I think that was a quote from the great Yogi Berra. If not, it sure sounds like a Yogi quote. GO MEAN GREEN....let's get this done and announced!
-
I like this hire if true...I wonder if any who post here and are close to the program could comment?

Hey, even better...sign up to play in the GMG.Com flag football game...you are sure to see some of those guys....on the field! Payback is fun!

Gomeangreen.com Is Interviewing Coach Mac Tomorrow!
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
greenjoe...great question...but, I do know he has already answered this several times...answer is "yes" and in Denton. He has now sold his Florida home (one of them) and his wife has moved to Denton. Said they were currently looking...did not say if he wanted to buy or build but did say they wanted to be part of the Denton community. Good to have him answer again in the interview...great question. -
Coach mac has stated repeatedly that there is no reason why UNT should not recruit the top players and stop trying to compete against the SFA's and Sam Houston's of the world. He wants UNT to recruit against the top D1 schools. Sure might lose more than UNT gets to sign in that competition right now, but UNT has the staff and the facilities to recruit for the best. Coach Mac intends to do that. It is already paying off as we can see from the list. This is the most players of this quality listing UNT as a choice that I have ever seen and I've been watching a pretty good bit of time. Way to go Coach Mac...and way to go RV & UNT for providing the facilities and opportunities that are attractive to this level of player. It's only going to get better from here. GO MEAN GREEN!
-
Oh, I think you know much more than you are letting on here.......
-
Yep...just PM me with your stats and any playing info you want to let the coaches in on for the draft AND your t-shirt size and I'll get it posted for you. No problem. Thanks for playing...it's gonna be fun! GO MEAN GREEN!
-
FANTASTIC...thank you very much...I have sent you a follow-up PM.
-
When I asked Coach Mac about his comment on grades, he went on to say that while the grades were decent and good for most programs...and better than they had been...they were not good enough by HIS standards and that they were already working to correct that situation. So, yes, the grades were improved under Coach TD, but not to the standards that Coach mac would like to see. Just another example of Coach mac asking for and demanding more for UNT's athletes...and, in my opinion, that is a VERY good thing indeed. GO MEAN GREEN! Very good things are happening at UNT these days.....

Shoes are optional.....I would think molded cleats might work better than screw-ins, but maybe some of the players from years past can give you better info....Anyone care to answer about shoes????
-
I share your technology thoughts, but Facebook is really nothing more than using the Internet. But, just post your stats here or PM me and I'll get them on the Facebook page as soon as it is up...don't forget to give me your game t-shirt size as well. Glad you are "in".
-
Great stuff folks...WE NOW HAVE THE KICK-OFF Time...we will start at 3:00PM just as we did last year...seemed to work well for pre-and-post tailgating. We will set up a separate Facebook page (like we did for the basketball game) for everyone to post their stats...and do the customary trash talking! Hopefully, we will be able to have a live draft for this event...just keep checking back here for all the latest updates. We have 13 players listed so far...good start. Remember, when you list your stats on the Facebook page for the draft...I will need your t-shirt size as well. Thanks...this is going to be a great way to say "good-bye" to Fouts...anyone know how to contact Andy Blount, Scott Hall, etc., etc.?????

Game is SET for JUNE 11th 3PM at FOUTS FIELD for the 8th annual GMG.com Bowl Flag Football Game. This could very easily be billed as the last "officially sanctioned" football game in Fouts Field...the real Fouts Finale! One format change for this year's game...we will be opening it up to paid staff members from the UNT Athletic Dept. (both male and female) who may want to participate. Not enough staffers available to make it a game of GMG.com vs. Athletic Dept. staff for lots of reasons, so we will just open the rosters to those in the athletic Dept. who would like top play. This year's registration fee remain $25 per player. We will be looking for sponsors for the event as we did last year. If you know of a potential sponsor, please let me know. The beneficiary will be once again the ANDREW SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND. Donations welcome. Please check your schedules and sign up to play as soon as you know you are available...of course additional donations welcome from any and all. I also have an idea for a unique silent auction item that might be of interest to some...more on that later. HERE WE GO...this is going to be great fun! Get your tailgate gear in shape for the after party tailgate extravaganza! CLICK HERE TO DONATE TO THE ANDREW SMITH MEMORIAL FUND!

OK, this is "official". It seems the May 28tth date simply did not work for any number of reasons...not the least of which it is a holiday weekend. SO...as of today, I have official approval from the Athletic Dept. for JUNE 11th at FOUTS FIELD for the 8th annual GMG.com Bowl Flag Football Game. Start time to be announced shortly. This could very easily be billed as the last "officially sanctioned" football game in Fouts Field...the real Fouts Finale! Is there anything from keeping someone who wants a name tag to simply go order one? I was at an Alumni event last week in Allen and one attendee actually had a name tag on with his GMG.Com screen name written in under his name. I understand the desire to have a "uniform" style/color, etc., but just thought if some were that interested they could just go get one made. I have the feeling that some prefer the fact that people don't know who they really are. In fact, I have had some GMG.com folks PM me that they desire to stay "unknown". Interesting to me, because I really have no problem with being "known". I guess I am OK with "owning" whatever I post and not giving too much of a care if someone disagrees with me on some point or another. That, seems to me to be what this board is all about, and, at the end of the day, everyone supports the Mean Green in some form or fashion. It's all good when it comes to supporting the Mean Green. So, for me, if an order goes in, I'll buy a name tag or T-shirt, etc., but if I had to vote one way or the other...name tags are much more useful and certainly capable of being displayed/used in many more settings than a t-shirt. Besides, as I previously said, there are ways already to get a "classic" t-shirt with your GMG.com name...just sign up to play in the flag football game or basketball game or purchase a shirt for either as your way of making a bit of a donation.
-
Just sign up to play in either (or both) the GMG.Com flag football game or Basketball Classic and you'll have yourself a nifty t-shirt with your GMG.com name on the back.

Little Elm Applebee's
KRAM1 replied to Mean Green Scrappy's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
This I like. Thanks for letting us know...tell the manager that you like it and that you come because they also support the Mean green. Great stuff...more of this should be done in the area! Good job Applebee's!
