We have 35 committed players so far...don't start whining about playing time yet folks..as Andy says...lots of ways to make sure everyone gets to play...recall last year and the year before...lots of subs going in and out often...and if it's hot on the 11th you'll be happy to have a good number of players. We'll work on some items...maybe even the length of the quarters to insure adequate playing time. Going to stay with one game...two teams if at all possible...maybe teams can have some "specialists" as well...some like offense some like defense, etc. Don't fret folks...the more the merrier... Keep those name coming...still room and with each sign-up the event just gets better and better. ANDY....I heard you "tweaked your knee" recently. Let's be careful...don't want you limping around on a gimpy knee for this SUPER BOWL of flag football games. That rumor was head this weekend at the Denton Arts and Jazz festival...any truth to the thing?

Really? You really believe this? I guess it's great when one has the ability to judge and to be so very pure of heart as to know with no uncertaintity what others feel and believe. Silver, I respect your opinions on most things (even if I rarely agree politically), but this is really over the top. It seems to me this "racism" thing is what one pulls out of the hat out when they have no real argument based in fact. Always easy to pull the race card. It is beneath you, my friend. While we agreed from the very start on the fct that Obama had done all h needed to do to qualify to run for the preidency, I see absolutely ZERO point in pulling the race card. It so belittles the whole discussion. -
GREAT news...sent you a message.

Excellent News...welcome to the world Lucas! A new member of the great Mean green nation has arrived. Glad to hear that Mom (and dad) are doing well as well...Congrats ForeverEagle and UNTGirl04. Now, I hope to see young Master Lucas at the 8th Annual GMG.Com Bowl to cheer on Dad and Uncle (Mom may not be ready to play as yet, but if so...you know who would love to babysit!). GO LUCAS...GO MEAN GREEN. The Mean green nation grew by one last evening! Light the Tower!

The more I see and read about this kid the happier I am that he is in New Mexico and not Denton.

Bho Birth Certificate Released

Silver...WHAT? This really is beneath you. You have higher standards than to stoop to this sort of rhetoric. Must just be a momentary brain freeze...this is so not like you. -
Bho Birth Certificate Released
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Unfortunately, it was an issue much longer than it needed to be because BHO allowed it to be one. Could have stopped it all real quick...now he wants to be all smug and snooty and condescending about it all. What's up with that? The issue is that you must be a "natural born citizen" to be president. Simple as that, and the guy just would never produce the long form. You and I have had to do that many times...just recently at the passport office for me....maybe I should have refused to produce it. I wonder what would have happened? Think I'd have that new passport? Probably not! What's required of me is darn sure OK to be required of the prez...guy puts his pants on the same way i do...one leg at a time. For me, it was NEVER an issue. I was just fine with his status from day one...what I wasn't happy with was the childish way he was responding to the questions and the folks who just kept insisting that he was not a natural born citizen...both sides seemed pretty "off the wall to me", but most criticism goes to BHO from me for the way he handled this. Let me just also say that if this was a question concerning George Bush...just what do you think would have happened? Heck, the guy couldn't even get people to believe he actually served in the military. STUPID issue from the beginning, made even worse by a prez who seemed to just want to keep the game going until someone of Trumps status took up the question. Amazing waste of time and effort...you wonder why the president would want to play such a game? -

Brutal Soccer Foul
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I can see 10 games and $5000...sounds about right to me. i do think it sends a pretty good message, but i am not certain that when a player does something like this (in any sport) that they are thinking about the severity of the damage they may be doing to the other player and themselves or the potential fine and suspension they may be facing. Seems to me, being a referee, that this sort of thing is done because they really aren't thinking and it turns to all emotion. Too bad...should never happen at any level. -
Now we're talking...thanks Jason and thanks Andy...will be good to see Jason "home" again at Fouts. This is going to be GREAT!
-
Now, that's one I can VOTE for! Gotta love those UNT Co-Eds. And, anyone who says pro football is more fun than college ball is simply stupid, blind or both! GO MEAN GREEN!

SCOTT...FANTASTIC! Glad to know you are "in" again this year...better yet, that Lindsay will be playing as well. Can't thank you enough for the support with your efforts to bring other ex-players back as well. It will be a great time to tailgate and renew friendships and perhaps to go over for a closer look at the new stadium after the game and after-game festivities! Thanks for your support...Payback is sweet, right? Welcome back "home"...with you and Andy and Brian playing (along with some others) we should be able to provide a nice amount for the scholarship fund this year. Scott...you will have a ready made baby-sitter if you need one in my bride who will be on-hand again this year. Bring the kids! That goes for everyone else as well! FOLKS...you really don't want to miss the fun of this event...if you don't want to play...just make plans to come and watch and be part of the pre-game and post-game festivities...ALL are welcome...no charge at all...bring your own tailgate gear or beg, borrow or steal from those already with goodies. No admission charge, but we might, just might ask you to place a buck or two in a pot for the scholarship fund. Lots of silent auction (well, several anyway) goodies to bid on as well. This is going to be great fun.

I hope she is smiling a bit. But, if she had not just pretty much "given up" recruiting, coaching and working the fan base about 3-4 years before she retired she may still have been coaching the Mean Green and the Stephens fiasco would never have happened. I just thought Coach Slinker had pretty much come to the end of her game when she was "retired". It was time, so this is not like a "ha ha" moment for her. She is still around the area and has good things to say about UNT. Saw her at the UNT Alumni Awards Banquet recently. Didn't have a chance to say "hi", but it was good to see her in attendance and supporting one of her ex-players who was receiving a "young alum" award. I would imagine that Coach Slinker is very happy to she these ladies return "home", and is probably very happy to see the fortunes of the ladies team rebound (no pun intended). GO MEAN GREEN!

At least I hope this non-issue is over. What more can be said? OK, now it is finally over. BHO has released his long form birth certificate to the public. One has to wonder "what took so long"? If he really thought this was such a non-issue and a distraction from real issues, why wait so long to release the darn thing? Plus, I think he could have used it much more strategically in the upcoming campaign rather than release it now. Now, Donald trump will take all the credit for getting the thing released...maybe he did have something to do with it, but surely, no one thinks Trump is a viable candidate for president of this great nation of ours. If you want to see the birth certificate, it is online at MSN.com and any number of other sites. Finally, thank goodness, the guy did the easy thing and released the long form birth certificate. Unless he was actually enjoying it all...why not do this years ago when the issue first came up? At least this end that silly "birther" thing. Seems to me that it works more in the favor of his political opponents campaigns than it does his...the dems can't be calling folks "birthers" any longer. Now, get on with issues that matter for the nation and the world. PLEASE!

Wasn't OSU ranked in the top 50 when they came to the Super Pit and got taken down by the Mean Green?

I sat at a local bank one day many years ago and watched Hayden Fry sketch out the new Iowa Hawkeye logo as he told us (before even the press) that he was heading to Iowa. A sad day for me that I will always recall as if it were yesterday. He had come to the bank to let the then president (who was a big supporter) know that he was leaving before he read about it in the local and Dallas press. Since I was a bank VP at the time and knew Hayden, he asked me to come into the little "chat" as well. As I recall, there were three of us sitting in the president's office with Coach fry that day. What he did was take out a piece of paper and sketch out that stylized Hawkeye and then say..."what would you think if I went to Iowa?" ... OUCH. Coach Fry will always hold a fond place in my heart...great guy and I can see a lot of Coach Fry in Coach McCarney...which gives me great hope for the Mean green. Sure hope Coach Fry is able to come to the Sept. 10th game to help open the new stadium. GO MEAN GREEN!

I believe Argyle is now 3A.

I've got to say that I think this is GREAT news for the program. Welcome home. It seems to me that steps are being taken to "right the ship" of the women's program just like those that have been taken to "right the ship" for the football program. I really like having Mean green back leading the Mean Green! You go ladies! Can't wait to see this next team on the court. I hope Coach Aston is as good about getting out in the public as Coach Mac has been. That is soley needed to help generate interest and to rebuild a fan base that had pretty much disappeared during the last regime.

Brutal Soccer Foul
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
This sort of thing goes on in every sport. Doesn't make it right...doesn't say much about "fair Play" either, but I'm not sure about a season long suspension. The foul on Ferreria that wasn't even carded may have ended his season...I think the ankle is broken in two places. Maybe the "suspension" should be as long as the injured player is out of the game...that would be a bit of a mess to control, however. This sort of retaliation thing by Mullen is just plain stupid...may have ruined a guys career. If they did suspend him for a year, i wonder if others would "think first" before pulling this crap? probably not, as this sort of thing is usually done as a reaction and spur of the moment thing...rational/sane thinking hardly ever comes into play when emotions take over...stupid and dangerous play. I'll bet Mullen wishes he had it all to do over again...nasty tackle. I am sure MLS will deal with it...let's hope they do! -

Personally, I think UNT will be competing for a Sunbelt crown within 3 years...not 4. The top 25 ranking...6-7 seems about right, would like to see it in 5-6. Heck, I'd like to see it next season...well how about 2011, but just might take Coach McCarney a bit longer than that to turn the ship around. GO MEAN GREEN!

Great news! Thanks, Andy...looking forward to seeing you again this year....I am also certain this might raise our female participation level...or at least spectator numbers. By the way...I noted on the Facebook page that Johnny Quinn is listed as attending...anyone know if this is for certain? Maybe we can get the bobsledder to play as well as attend...anyone have any contact info. Just think what type of receiving corps some team might have? Could it possibly fall to one of our coaches to draft Scott Hall (come on Scott, you know you can't miss this), Andy Blount and Johnny Quinn???? Just sayin'. Folks, if you are on the "sidelines" about whether you want to sign up and play, let me assure you that you will have a great time if you decide to play...plus, you will be helping out a great cause in the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship fund as well.

Depends on what kind of shape you are in come game day!

EXCELLENT! Great news...Got you down...BUT...I need your t-Shirt size for the game day shirts...so what size, Sir? Thanks for participating....good news.
