  1. Positive press for the Mean green. I like! But, can you imagine what Coach Mac might think when he hears about this prediction? man, I would like to be a "fly on the wall" to see his reaction when he gets wind of this prediction! Maybe a tad optimistic for the first year for Coach mac, but, hope springs eternal in the spring each year. There is a possibility that this prediction could turn out to be 100% true! Could happen. I think we have all witnessed similar seemingly odd predictions come true in the wide world of sports. So, the prediction was made...let's see where it goes. Have to like the positive press. GO MEAN GREEN!
  2. Silver, some great stuff you have been posting lately. And,I agree that Mandy was a complete nightmare and disaster that was, somehow, allowed to stay employed at UNT for WAY too long. One has to wonder what possessed RV to keep her around as long as he did? However, I do think RV has now assembled the best overall staff the dept. has ever seen. Let's hope so at least. Go Mean Green!
  3. NEW ITEM ALERT!!!!!! We also have confirmed DINNER FOR FOUR (4) at the Tower Club in Dallas. This is a Club Corp property and is located in Downtown Dallas in Thanksgiving Tower. Great spot for a GREAT meal for 4...or use it for just two and make it an night out with your significant other. It's a dinner for up to four people. You know what that can be worth.....get your bids ready! Thanks to Pierce Reid for helping with these great golf and dinner items. I have just found out that Pierce will be with us on the 11th...so you can thank him in person.... GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. Late breaking news...... Check out the golf and restaurant items we have added for the auction in the thread related to that topic... Also...we will have both Pierce Reid and Cody Spencer in attendance on the 11th for the game......Pierce, who also played with Andrew Smith, has been really helping us get the golf and dinner packages through Club Corp. Both he, and Club Corp., have been very generous in helping to support this event. You will not want to miss this event...Hope to see everyone on the 11th! GO MEAN GREEN!
  5. Well....if Brandon and Cody both show.....I will tell you that I ordered a couple of extra shirts in cases such as this...if a couple of guys show up...we may have the pleasure of having Pierce Reid in attendance as well..played with Andrew Smith, lives in the Houston area and is helping us with some great golf packages for the silent auction. So, yes, Cody id definitely welcome and if we have a couple of extras show up, we can allocate them to teams at that time and "play" on...we'll do all we can to accommodate everyone...may have to trade shirts around during the game....and, if history repeats...there are times when something comes up at the last second and someone already signed up can't make it...so, bring Cody....great to have him. Thanks for the help with all the players, etc. This just keeps getting better and better! GO MEAN GREEN!
  6. Well, I think my bride and I are right there with you guys. I am in CL08 and on the top row of the section about middle way in the row. Sounds like that will be right there with you guys. Sounds like a party to me!
  7. Just got the OK to post a few more auction items...all our golfers out there ought to love these! Ex-player, Pierce Reid, who played with Andrew, has contacted me to say that he has gotten the following Club Corp Clubs (he works for Club Corp in the Houston area these days) to donate rounds of golf...just check these out! 1) Canyon Creek CC - Round of Golf for 4 2) Brookhaven CC - Round of Golf for 4 3) Oakmont CC - Round of Golf for 4 4) Heartstone CC (Houston area) - Round of Golf for 4 (This is Pierce's Home Club) 5) Falcon Point GC - (Houston area) - Round of Golf for 4 How about those, sports fans? And, Pierce is still working on a few more locations. Can't sat "thank you" to Pierce for stepping up and really helping us out with the auction. And, there is a chance we might get to see Pierce and thank him in person on June 11th! Thank you Pierce Reid and thank you Club Corp. Great stuff, folks...you will not want to miss out! GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. Be still my heart.
  9. Folks, the silent auction part of the fast approaching GMG.Com Bowl 8 (June 11th) is taking shape very nicely. So far we have: 1) Mean Joe Green autographed football 2) Mean Joe Green autographed mini-helmet 3) Two Club level Seats to the Nov. 19th game against Western Kentucky 4) Watercolor print of Andrew Smith (scholarship honoree and prior UNT QB) 5) Autographed mini-helmet (coaching staff autograph) 6) Autographed mini-helmet (coaching staff autograph) 7) twelve pack of craft beer 8) 2 tickets to the July 10th Rangers vs Oakland A's game 9) Two tickets to the August 28th Rangers vs Anaheim Angels Game Hopefully more to add as we get a bit closer, but the line-up is really great right now. Come out and enjoy the fun on the 11th and bid for one or more of these great items. ALL proceeds go the The Athletic dept's Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund. Hope to see you on the 11th...bring your friends...free admission...come early and tailgate and stay late and tailgate.... GO MEAN GREEN!
  10. I agree 100%. I would actually like to see baseball return to UNT, but have no hope that it will until and IF Mean Green Club memberships start to climb in both numbers and dollars and until the football and basketball teams start drawing much higher attendance and season ticket numbers. The football program does, indeed, drive the bus. So, if you really want baseball back at UNT make sure you join the Mean Green Club and buy season football and basketball tickets. Anything that raises attendance and financial support for UNT will bring baseball back to UNT and nothing much more complicated than that. So, if you would like to see baseball return, join the Mean Green Club (and raise your contribution level if you are already a member), buy season football tickets and buy season basketball tickets. Simple, huh? Oh, and it wouldn't hurt either to find some "rich folks" who would like to financially "jump start" the fundraising campaign for baseball....
  11. It is also sad that some of our posters read things into postings that certainly are not there. By saying we will win more than 4 games this next year was not the setting of any sort of benchmark, just a simple reply to an other's post regarding a 3-4 win prediction. But, I guess if you like finding negatives in everything it will work as good as anything else to light your fire.
  12. Happy Birthday young man! It's your day, you own this one. Make it a great one. Glad to see you have survived another day. I will give credit to your lovely wife for your making it another year...hope to see you around for many many more years!
  13. What the sam hill is that???? Good grief.
  14. If extra tickets are available I think this is a great idea. I do hope the first game is a sellout, however, and that there are not big blocs of "freebies" given away. I hope the student body, the fans and the Denton Community come out in big numbers to support the opening of the new stadium.....as paying customers. And, I hope many decide what a great deal it is, how much fun it is , and how great those UNT Co-eds look in short skirts/shorts and boots and come back again and again. And, that many of our Alumni Assoc. members bring their guests to check out the new UNT Alumni Pavilion. Speaking of that...if you are not an Alumni Assoc. member, you can join for almost nothing and then qualify to enjoy the Pavilion before games. Think it over...great deal and lots of fun.
  15. I just do not think UNT goes 0-5 to start the season. Will the faithful be "restless" if they do? I would not be happy, but certainly not ready to start the "UNT is falling off the face of the earth" stuff either. The first part of the schedule is challenging, indeed, and every time I hear from Coach Mac he definitely makes that point. But really, no wins in the first five? heck, I think we have at least one win in the bag after the first two games have been played.
  16. UNT will win more than 4 games next season...write it down! GO MEAN GREEN!
  17. CORRECT! Well done UNT STUDENT-Athletes. Good trend...kepp it going! GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. I have been wondering if the Grand Prairie Caravan stop was well attended and who may have spoken at that last stop? Anyone who attended care to comment? Seems that it has been the only stop without comment. I heard that it was well attended, but anyone thoughts from those who attended?
  19. $$$$$$$ for two new programs coming from where?
  20. The title of the original "Leave it at Fouts" thread got me to thinking about something else. Why not make this transition to a new stadium and a new coaching staff and a new day for UNT the time to let "bygones be bygones"? Why not "bury the hatchet" now on all the old and lingering problems, grievances, and "they treated me wrongs" people have had with UNT in general and the Athletic Department in specific and start fresh? Seems to me to make a good deal of sense as this time does seem like a very clean break from the prior way things were done. UNT has a new president, a bunch of new faces around the athletic dept and a great new stadium and Alumni Pavilion. While we will all face challenges of one kind or another (the first few games at the new stadium come to mind) why not face them together and in a positive manner? The time is right to embrace "WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS" and to make sure we all present a positive view and image when talking about the program and the university. If we, who are probably some of the biggest fans this university has, all decided to present a positive face in our actions and words to the public we could go a great way in helping to change the image of the program and the university in the eyes of the general public. All too often we seem to be "our own worst enemy". So, why not North Texas and why not just leave it at Fouts? Just asking you to think about it. GO MEAN GREEN!
  21. OK, really...I just have to ask. How do I get a -1 for this post???? Someone really does need to explain this one.
  22. Got it down!
  23. Well, I am sure Coach FFR will work that out...but Andy Blount did a great job at QB last year and his team actually beat the team with Scott Hall as QB. So, have no fear...the Green Team will be well represented at QB...I have it from a good source that FFR can do a very good job at QB himself. Looks to me like the teams are pretty well evenly matched...should be a great game. Come one, Come all...come watch and be part of the fun on June 11th. Thanks to all...GO MEAN GREEN!
  24. Sure will be...first the coin toss by Harry to determine which of our coaches will make the first draft pick. So, any guesses on who will be #1 and then of course who will be the last...but certainly not the least. Every draftee is a STAR in this event! GO MEAN GREEN!
