Confirmed in today’s Denton paper...”Szczepanski Leaves Program”. Confirmed by Coach Mitchell. Sad. Wanted to see her play for the Mean Green. I wish her well.

UPDATE: Tip-off time of 11:00am confirmed. Gym will be open by 9;30am for warm-up and player registration...and, of course, early bidding on some great silent auction items. We will set up a concession stand of sorts in the gym as well and have some snacks, drinks, etc. available for purchase with proceeds going to Cheer and Dance. YES...we have confirmed that the UNT Dance Team will be joining us this year for the first time. Should make for extra fun. ALSO...I have just confirmed TWO major sponsors for the game this year...returning as signature sponsors are both Denton's own EASTSIDE SOCIAL CLUB and their Dallas cohort DOT'S HOP HOUSE. We also have Addison Transportation sponsoring again. And, just to let you know...Addison Transportation has sponsored this game each of the eight years of its existence! How about that folks? AND MORE...our after game event will once again take place at EASTSIDE SOCIAL CLUB after the game! These after game events really are fun...and relaxing. I hope you will plan on joining us this year for some fun and fellowship after the game at EASTSIDE in Denton. Everyone is welcome...players, spectators, volunteers, families, Cheer Team, Dance Team, etc., etc. OK....now that we have the date and time...please check your calendars and schedules and let me know if you would like to play. Registration fee remains the same at $35 per player (open to male and/ or female), and includes the collectors item t-shirt...of course! Ha!

While cheer supports Mean Green, O’Neal fights for more

Really happy to see this article. These student-athletes work super hard and have earned our support. They show up...on good days and bad days and they support the Mean Green on the field, in the arena and around the community.- 1 reply

Was told not to expect to see her play for the Mean Green. Too bad as I was really looking forward to seeing her play. Guessing all the injuries just pretty much ended her career.

Just saw that SPEC'S just opened in Denton. This is a big box store where you can get all your adult beverages, mixers and supplies. They are located on Loop 288 just down from the El Fenix location...same side of street. I believe they have gone in what was once a Staples Office Supply store. PLEASE support this business...it is owned by some great UNT grads that have already donated well over $1,000,000 to the University...lots to music, but in other areas as well. They are both College of Music grads. UNT peeps...support these folks. They treat you well in their stores, the prices are very competitive, and they will be displaying their UNT pride in this new Denton store. Check it out. And...no...I am not related and did not get paid for this public service announcement. Just think the UNT family should support its own.

Wren Baker buying anyone’s first b-ball ticket of the season!!!

Me too! -
Two years is a pretty long time in DC time these days. Tell me how often the Dems consulted or worked with the GOP during the Obama years again? Personally glad to see a spending bill finally passed. The DACA situation will get settled one way or the other as it should. But, closing the govt over that single issue was and will remain a BIG mistake by the Dems. Guess they thought better of that strategy. Shows the challenges and pitfalls when you are a “one issue” party...even for a short period of time. Same problem with being a one-issue voter...you are never really happy.

Needed it....Got it! Way to go ladies...nailed the road trip!

Excellent! Thank you, Sir. See you there! The new venue should be fun.

Just give Athletics a call and they can help you get signed up...I would call John Nitardy or Mike Smith just to be certain. Their numbers are listed on the Athletic Dept website.

Just saw this...Open Spring Practice on 2/21 beginning at 9am at Apogee...Seth will talk about the 2018 signing class as well and a free lunch will be provided in the Hub Club Area. Lunch will be served at 11:15 I believe. In addition by signing up you are registered for a prize pack drawing (no idea what the prize pack entails). Yes, I realize it is a 9am event on a workday, and lots of folks will have to work. But, for those who can attend it looks like a fun free look at the team, and a way to hear Coach Littrell talk about his newest class. I posted what I think is the sign up link below. Hope it works for you. Note: I believe this day is the first day of spring practice. Just FYI. https://north-texas-athletics.apps.umbel.com/571/rsvp-to-mean-green-football-open-practice/

Hmmmm...see your reply to MeanGreencoach2 above! What’s good for the goose is good for the gander they say. Ha! And, hey...legit 3 point line!
-
Nothing personal about it. You are talking about something you admit to having zero direct contact with. I am merely pointing out the errors in your posts and suggested you might find a different situation if you were attending games. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. Not my intention.
-
1. Yes, the website is incorrect, and 2. You would know that had you attended any games as you would know where they sit and how many students were now coming. And you would know that today’s team and atmosphere is totally different than 3-4 years ago, but sure, keep going on outdated Info you pick up from who knows where since you seem to think everything is just like it was 3-4 years ago. News flash for you...Benford is gone and we have a new coach and staff.

You in this year Andrew?
-
Not true on both counts. There is no designated student section. You can see them sitting in groups throughout the Super Pit, and department officials confirmed that there was no designated student section. And, to your “hardly any students or fans attend the games” not so true either. The last few home games saw very nice attendance at each of the three men’s exciting wins. Attendance is growing both with fans and with students....just not as rapidly or in the numbers this team deserves. I would estimate 300-400 students around the Super Pit consistently. And, while way too small in total number would be a decent showing and a loud section if sitting together. I assume you are coming to all the games?
-
You have until April 14th. Get it done! Ha! Sorry to hear this...best of wishes for a speedy recovery, but rolled ankles can take a bit to heal with the "older" guys.
-
Excellent! Thank you so much. These sort of auction items are super popular, so this is very good news. Appreciate it very much Sir!
-
Hope to have you playing again this year, Ben! BTW...that is hilarious!

Time to start gearing up for the 8th Annual UNT Cheer Scholarship Basketball Game! This year's game will be played on SATURDAY, APRIL 14th at the OLD Men's Gym on Highland Street with a mid-morning tip-off time yet to be determined. So, Mean Green peeps, we need your help. What can you do to support this event? 1. Sign up to play - Registration Fee Remains $35.00 and includes the "collectors edition" Game Day t-shirt!! The event is open for play to both male and female players. Come on Ladies! 2. Donate an item or items for the silent auction 3. Make a cash donation to support UNT Cheer 4. Volunteer to Work the Event, Acquire silent auction and drawing items, donate concession items (or funds to purchase such items), and/or come watch the game and support or players and have a fun Saturday morning. Couple of items...yes, we will have our 50/50 half-time shot contest and I would like to add a drawing item or two or three that we can sell raffle tickets for to be "drawn for at the end of the first, second and third quarters...like a TV, airline tickets, appliance, I-Pad, phone, trips, etc. If anyone has a contact where we might could acquire such items (or anything similar) please let me know. We can get a donation receipt to the donor for tax purposes. We are working with the UNT Police Department to make all parking along Highland that morning fee and usable by players, fans, etc. Stand by ... will let you know. Short of that, we will use the Fouts parking lot. Please note...there is a pinned thread for this game at the top of the basketball section. Would like to use that one for most/all updates, etc., But thought I needed to start a new post just to remind folks and to get things going. Lookin to make our eith annual our best yet! With your help...we can do just that!
-
Keep an eye out here for the latest news...we will be gearing up very soon.

Agree with you. Good guy. Lots of us "old timers" saw him play for NELA (ULM). Good to see him doing good things in the NFL. Guy is certainly not timid about calling plays.
-
Sorry...no! It was the Rasin’ Canes section last year and was near the visitor bench. There was a sign designating it as the student section. There is NO designated student section this season. But, there definitely needs to be one. Students are scattered out all over the Super Pit which works to mute their significance. You get 209-300 students sitting near the opposing team bench area and they can really help the “home court advantage”. Right now pretty much zero help as their voices are scattered. In addition, season ticket buyers and single game ticket buyers are constantly having to ask students to move out of their assigned and paid for seats.

You watch any NBA ball? Much worse than college ball. Hardly BB these days. The refs don't call fouls on start players, players constantly carry the ball and take multiple steps to the basket, three second rule might as well be done away with...just terrible BB these days...and refs who definitely think people show up or tune in to watch them be part of the show. Ridiculous excuse for BB. I'll take the NCAA issues (I do agree with your NCAA ref thoughts by the way) over the pitiful excuse the NBA puts out these days.
