OK, so I get home after the game and discover that Pierce Reid (who provided the great golf packages for the silent auction...thank you Pierce) had brought a couple of new packages that i was not aware of so i didn't bother to look inside the envelope with the other certificates. UGH! As a result, I have three great golf packages that were not bid on...so, why not put them on here for a couple of days and see if we can't generate some additional funds for the scholarship... we have; 1) ROUND OF GOLF FOR 4 (cart fee required) at Las Colinas Country Club (Irving, TX)- good through 12/30/11 2) ROUND OF GOLF FOR 4 (cart fee required) at Stonebridge CC - The Hills Course (McKinney, TX) - good through 12/30/11, and 3) ROUND OF GOLF FOR 4 (cart fee required) at Timarron CC - Southlake, TX - good through 12/30/11. OK folks, can we get some bids going for the Andrew Smith memorial Scholarship Fund? Ladies...Father's Day is around the corner...this would make a great Father's day gift for a golfing husband...KIDS...are you listening? Don't forget Dad...if he likes to play golf this can be a great deal. You can bid here...just name the item you are bidding on and your bid...or you can PM (private message) me with a bid if you prefer not to bid here "in public". I will leave the bidding open until NOON on THURSDAY, JUNE 16th (that's this week)....can we do this and get a bit more in the scholarship fund? Sure hope so...OPENING MINIMUM $15.00. Raise minimum $3.00. Let's get it on... Thanks.

Yep...and how about that catch and run by young master MeanGreen2018 (son of none other than untcampbell)??? Highlight reel play for sure. We won't mention that Rudy's catch/fumble may be the last recorded play at Fouts....let's let that one slip...he did make another nice catch and run, however, so maybe we should all remember that one...Scott Hall to Johnny Quinn...be still my heart! Maybe Derek Thompson (standing on the sidelines for a good part of the game) took some notes on that combo...think so? Fun times...very fun times.

Oh, yes, you are 100% correct...happy to have Justin with us as well...I am going to edit my post and add Justin...how did I forget Justin? Sorry...old age perhaps.

Nba Finals
KRAM1 replied to Green Mean's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Absolutely agree. I cannot believe that even the announcers believed that crud they were spewing. I am sure the networks told them to play up the Heat and the "Big Three", but if they were told to do so, they did it with gusto. Sorry job of announcing, but everyone knows it for what it is and understands they were BAD...very very Bad! But, the championship banner belongs to Dallas, not Miami and it's hype. Magic was definitely correct! -
I am really excited to be able to announce that through the generous support of those who participated, donated and helped stage the 8th annual GMG.COM Bowl, that we were able to raise some $2225.00 for the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund!!!!! Our goal was to raise at least $1500 and I would say we well surpassed that goal. The above totals do assume that I collect from those who had the winning bids for the silent auction merchandise. I will be getting in touch with all the winners in the very near future. Thanks to out shirt sponsor Brian Futrell (unt88) and The Billiard factory in Lewisville for their generous support, to those who provided silent auction materials, to all those who bid on the silent auction merchandise, to all our players and donors (we had people donate who were could not play or attend), to Smitty for the great shirt design and to Harry and GMG.Com. Thanks also to the families and friends who braved the heat to come out and watch...and how about that great BBQ and those super tailgate beans? Thanks to the Hiatt's for the great BBQ and to msgreengoblin for the great tailgate beans! There were several players who gave more than the $25 player fee to help provide additional funds as well. I also need to thank the Athletic Dept. folks who helped us secure Fouts, had the gates unlocked, the power on and tables and chairs ready Saturday morning, for the give-a-way cups, pom poms and mini-volleyballs for the kids and to Rick V. for not only coming by the game but in having the new stadium open for all who wished to have an "up close and personal" look. Let me see if I can recall all the ex-players attending: Scott Hall Andy Blount Johnny Quinn Brian Futrell Jason Ball Weston Thaggard Cody Spencer Pierce Reid Jared Vaughn Montey Kennerson-Stevenson Luke Condor Justin Claiborne OK, I know I am missing one or two...someone help me out here. Hopefully, we will have even more return next year when the word gets out. Anyone else notice current Mean Green QB Derek Thompson on the sidelines? A special thanks to the ladies who braved the heat and the testosterone to play...Crooked I Formation, Lindsey, and mrsgreengoblin. All I can say is that it was definitely a GREAT day to be part of the Mean Green nation. I hope to see everyone (and more) back next year for the GoMeanGreenBowl 9!

2011 Gmg Bowl: One Of The Funnest Days Ever!
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Thanks to everyone for the kind words...it was, indeed a blast. best ever GoMeanGreen.Com Bowl. Watch out next year...how do we top this one? Final score was 25-13 for the White team, but, in reality it was a pretty darn close match-up for the vast majority of the game. Yes, it was warm, but there were plenty of players so everyone had a chance to come in and out as they needed/wanted. Great to see all the GMG.Com'ers and the ex-players mixing it up. If you couldn't have some great Mean green fun at this event, then you just can't have fun. I had an absolute GREAT time. So very many people to thank. I'll start a thread when i have a bit more time with thanks and fund-raising totals...have to collect from the auction, but will add those totals in...I am all but certain that we surpassed our goal of a net of $1500.00. Thanks to everyone...photos here look great! Man, good times...good times...godd food and beer as well. Thanks to RV for making it out and setting up the stadium tour. GO MEAN GREEN...thanks to Kevin Kokjohn and Rhey Nolan for coming out to watch and bid as well. Lots of folks out to watch in the heat, so the bit of breeze was really nice...I hope you got to see the mini helmet that Jason Hiatt had signed by all the players present yesterday...way cool. I simply cannot thank everyone enough...see you next year for GMG.Com Bowl 9! GO MEAN GREEN! -
GreenCrazy...I just want to make certain you know that the bricks/pavers will be part of the UNT Alumni pavilion and not the stadium itself. The brick project is related to the new UNT Alumni pavilion being built at the new stadium and not for the actual stadium. It is a great project and lots of alums have already purchased a brick in support of the project and to honor their graduation year, someone special or something spacial that happened while a student at UNT or simply by friends of UNT. I hope you will participate and appreciate your sincere consideration...just wanted to add some f "full disclosure" here...just in case. Many thanks. GO MEAN GREEN...GO UNT ALUMNI!

That would be a "roger that"! Dale is indeed scheduled to bring that fantastic brisket he cooks up for tailgates each year. He was an early volunteer to help out. My guess is that he has been up and going for sometime today getting that brisket ready to go...perhaps started last night. The stuff is fantastic! Of course, his two sons that will be playing today hope there are a lot of leftovers as they get to take it home with them if there is any left over! Thanks, Dale...great stuff...really appreciate your efforts here....

Green Pigs...welcome to the board and welcome to the Mean green nation. Thanks for your info on Feldt. He's the kind of kid UNT needs to recruit and sign before they head off to Arkansas or other schools. With the new stadium and the great new coaching staff UNT has, it's possible...very possible...that Feldt may just be one of the first of many 3-4 star recruits that decide to sign with UNT. Sure hope so. Glad to have you both as members of the great Mean Green Nation! GO MEAN GREEN!

It's here...the GoMeanGreen.COM Bowl 8 will "kick-off" at 3PM today at Fouts field. gates will open about 1PM for set up, registration and the start of silent auction bidding on some great items. No admission charge to come out and watch some great members of the Mean Green Nation play a spirited game of flag football. Included in the group participants and observers will be many of UNT's own great ex-footballers. You really don't want to miss this. Yes, it may well be a bit warm, but that's better than a pouring rainstorm, right? Bring lots of water (and beer) and sunscreen and you will be just fine. There are plans to tailgate before and after the game...all are welcome. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! We will even have the best babysitter of all time, Mrs KRAM1, along in case you need some help with the wee ones! Hope to see you at Fouts this afternoon. This is gonna be fun! Let's get ready to rumble! It's all for a great cause...the ANDREW SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND! GO MEAN GREEN!
-
Yep, saw him at the spring game as well...my first thought was that in a few years and under the instruction of the UNT coaching staff, he might be good enough to play in the GMG.Com Bowl game! OK< in all seriousness, this kid looks like a "keeper" and a guy who could really help the team in the years to come... I do expect him to return in later years to play in the GMG.com Bowl as well! GO MEAN GREEN...Good luck in the Bayou Bowl Travis!

Got you down.... Really appreciate your support.... GO MEAN GREEN!

This really makes me sad. To think that these protesters would purposely disrupt a Special; Olympics event with their personal agendas is just beyond my scope of imagination. How far we have fallen as a citizenry when this sort of thing happens and those that participate in it think it is just "right and proper". So selfish, so egotistical as to be shocking. If you, like me, have volunteered to work these Special Olympic events, you know how special they are to the participants and their families. To have a bunch of self-centered jack asses disrupt the events is beyond my scope of imagination. I hope they are very proud of themselves because the majority of the country is probably pretty disgusted. If they think this sort of thing actually helps their cause, I would think that they are very sadly mistaken indeed. Stupid is as stupid does...this was BIG TIME STUPID on the part of the "protesters". This ranks right up there with that Kansas church (if you can really call it a church) group who protests at military funerals. Disgusting by any sort of measurement! Grow up people and show a little respect and class! EDIT: If this post is worthy in some one's mind of a -1 then I am very proud indeed. Amazing that someone would think the above mentioned folks were worthy of their support. If this gets me a -1 then bring them on! Good grief people.

Just Want To Welcome Everyone Out On Saturday!
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Chances are pretty slim for Coach Mac and or Coach Canales. They are preparing for the start of the several Jr. camps they will be running beginning next week...actually, I think it starts on Sunday after the game...so, while the "final answer" has not been given, I would not get my hopes up that high to see either Coach mac or Coach Canales. Not saying "no way" here, just trying to be a bit realistic as we have had no official "yes" at this point. I do know both have expressed a positive interest in attending (even if just to say hello), but time may simply not permit. Now, that being said, lots and lots of other "special" folks will be on hand including some of UNT's all time great players along with our esteemed AD, Rick V. And, as Harry mentioned, lots of great silent auction "stuff" to bid on and help the Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund. So, like Harry, I invite one and all to come out and enjoy the fun. Tailgate before and after the game...bring some beer (or soft drinks---your call) and/or some food and come out this Saturday. You really don't want to miss this event! GO GMG.COM BOWL 8...A Farewell to Fouts! Be there! Kick-off set for 3PM, but tailgating and fun/bidding, etc. will start long before that...gates should be open by 1PM...well, Gate that is...not gates...GATE 1 (by the deck) will be open. I have also been told that the restrooms will be open Saturday for our use. Bring the kids.... -
Three From Tyler Chapel Hill Offered
KRAM1 replied to tylermeangreen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Our new east Texas source for all that is recruiting for the Mean green in the woods of east Texas. Many thanks for this insightful info...let's get these kids now before all the other schools realize how the east Texas area is really coming on strong in the player development area. Really glad to see that "connection" Coach mac has in east Texas. It can only pay dividends for UNT. Great to see Coach mac setting up these high school pipelines and relationships with HS coaches. You just have to like what you see about Coach mac... GO MEAN GREEN! Thanks tylermeangreen...great stuff. +1 from me! -
Way to go Coach mac! Glad it is now "official". Sure wish the guy could play this year! But, really like seeing this "signed, sealed and delivered" confirmation. GO COACH MAC! GO MEAN GREEN!

And, thanks to the yahoo who felt it necessary to -1 my posts regarding the rules. Nice.
-
OK, check out the rules. Added a section called "Line of Scrimmage" that covers players on the line of scrimmage and rushing the passer. That should cover it...
-
Well, the rules as posted do not specify. But, seems reasonable that we should have some "line of scrimmage" and rushing the passer rules...so, I'll check with some folks and get back with you on that one sometime today or tomorrow...hopefully, sooner rather than later. Thanks.

The Rangers Get Classy
KRAM1 replied to oldguystudent's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Excellent...great story. I agree with the concept of seeing if there is a job in the organization for this young man. Tragic story...let's hope for a much better "rest of the story" for this young man. Maybe he can help the Rangers figure out how to beat the Tigers. Seems that the Tigers have the Rangers number every year. I wonder why that is? -
BIG ASS BATTERIES PERHAPS? I mean really Big Ass batteries...can't the eco/green folks come up with some bad ass big ass batteries for this problem? Just sayin......
