  1. I have the name and contact ifo of a friend who is a good divorce attorney if you would like it!
  2. Not real sure where Flyer is getting his info regarding the catering, etc. as all those plans have not be finalized as yet, but he is correct that plans are to have both food and beverage service available when the Pavilion opens. The Pavilion is not air conditioned, so the big doors and fans will be great for fall football and other events planned for the Pavilion. rather than the lube joint as the EPA probably would nix that, I was thinking we could lease it out to Tim Love for a Love Shack...already has the doors! The pavilion is a great addition to the other benefits attached to being a member of the UNT Alumni Association. It should prove to be a great meeting place and tailgate/hangout area before games...big screen TV's should be nice as well. I hope everyone will come by and utilize the Alumni Pavilion during game days. Annual memberships are not expensive. A single annual membership costs $40...a joint annual membership costs $50. best deal going is a life membership at $500 for a single and $600 for a joint membership. Doesn't take many years for you to come out ahead on the life membership. And, just a note...as I am also a life member of the Oklahoma State Alumni Assoc., I was notified recently that OSU life memberships are going to be $1000 starting soon. So, as with most things at UNT these days, the membership costs for the UNT Alumni Association are really at bargain pricing. How long they will stay that way is any one's guess. Might want to consider stepping up to a life membership in the UNT Alumni Association before membership level costs are raised. Just sayin..... See you at the pavilion on Sept. 10th! GO MEAN GREEN!
  3. let's not let reality get in the way of a flammable piece or trying to sensationalize something. What fun is that?
  4. When you raise the capital gains tax, you actually receive less tax revenue from capital gains...just like when a state (think Oregon or Washington...can't recall which one at this time) thinks its great to raise taxes on the super wealthy in their state...gee all of a sudden the "super wealthy" no longer live in your state in the numbers they did before the tax and the state gets less tax revenue. For the life of me I cannot understand why this is so hard to understand...just check the data. Good grief! Good job UNTFan23...keep building wealth...even though you get "punished" for doing it, it is the right thing to do. DRIPS and EFT's are great, but, yes, paying the tax on the dividends is tough when you reinvest it all. Thanks to all the folks who think investors are not savers and need to pay more taxes for that little piece of sheer stupidity!
  5. I don't think its THAT hard to understand that both are bad. Raising taxes is not the answer. Again and again....if you want to increase tax revenues...LOWER TAXES! Agree UNT90, a refresher of Eco 101 would be good for some folks, but not if you are a Keynesian or if the nut case teaching the course is a Keynes disciple. Just sayin.....
  6. US up 1-0 at half, but France seems to be controlling the game. After the early US goal, the US had ZERO shots on goal the rest of the half. US has speed on the French, but the midfield, at this point, looks like they aren't even on the pitch. I am sure that Pia will make some adjustments at half and the US should come out ready for the second half. France has never beaten the US and it doesn't need to start today! Great goal by the US, but let's go for the second and third! Go USA!!!!!!
  7. Any progress on a new track coach? Maybe I missed it, but haven't noticed any announcements. Anyone have any news on this?
  8. THIS!
  9. Eagle91Gator95, I agree 100% with this thought. But, did you also know that the executive director of the 50,000+ member strong U of Florida Alumni Association, one Danita Nias, is...wait for it....a 1981 graduate of the U. of Maryland???? I guess that means, according to Silver, that the U of Florida doesn't think they have a grad worthy or capable of being the executive director of its own Alumni Association. Or, could it be that they simply interviewd and hired the best candidate that they felt they had available within their pool of applicants? Could that be possible perhaps????
  10. Stupid is as stupid does! Some of this you just cannot make up! Life is truly stranger than fiction. Good grief!
  11. It's hard when folks just don't see the full picture of where some of these folks who advocate higher taxes are coming from. Buffet does know a great deal about finance and investing, but that definitely does not make him an expert in the economics of taxation. If he did, he might realize how high tax rates actually hurt the working poor a great deal and how high tax rates stifle job creation and wealth creation. He's a "good guy" and very interested in helping others, but does not want to pay any more taxes than necessary...if he did, he would pony up and send in some voluntary payments. ...foolish as that would be. Just like those who pay no income taxes who are always shouting about the tax breaks some folks get who are actually paying taxes. I have yet to understand why the people who actually create jobs and pay taxes in this nation are vilified so much by the political left. I guess the left's definition of "fair" when it comes to taxes is that "fair" is the highest tax rate someone else pays who is already one of the 49% of the population who pay any income tax in the first place. The US continues to be one of the only nations that continues to punish wealth creation by taxing the crap out of it! Great way to punish saving and capital formation, isn't it?
  12. OK, I misspoke about not responding...I have to respond to this ... these are, I believe, past president's of TWU's Alumni Board of Directors...not paid staffers. I can assure you that each and every president, past and present, of the UNT Alumni Association Board is also a grad of UNT as is every single board member. Just another indication that sometimes what one THINKS is the truth is not really the fact of the matter. I am trying to take this off-line by inviting Silver for a couple of beers at my expense and some good calm conversation. Still waiting......
  13. Good for A&M! Maybe you should support them as you seem to have more positive things to say about A&M than you do UNT. I am sure they would love all your positiveness. That's one. Do you really want me to post on here the multitude of Alumni Associations that are headed by non-grads of the colleges they represent...AND, are you aware that there ARE UNT grads on the payroll at the UNT Alumni Assoc. just like A&M that you seem so excited about. Just another small fact you seem to ignore. You will also note that the Executive Staff of the A&M Alumni Association is six in number (if you even posted all of them) and it says they serve the further management team at the A&M Alumni Assoc. In case you were not aware, the entire staff at the UNT Alumni Assoc. is six in number (and I do not believe all of those are full-time staffers). You think there might be a small difference in the support between A&M and UNT for its Alumni Association? I have never heard a grad of A&M knock his school they way some here like to do. That does make a difference as well. Still no response to my offer of a beer and some actual factual conversation, but keep being positive Silver! By the way...in case you haven't noticed the current president of UNT is not a UNT grad! WOW...that must mean that UNT believes that no UNT grad is capable of being a college president or that the board of regents just didn't want to give a UNT grad the opportunity. Amazing logic you have there Silver...in your world I guess no UNT grad need apply for the job as president???? Oh, the director of the UNT Foundation is not a UNT grad either...no one capable there either, Silver? What about that head football and basketball coach...gee not a UNT grad...I guess none are capable and should apply????? How about all those non-UNT grad professors and heads of departments we have running all over UNT? I guess that means no one with a PhD from UNT is capable of running a dept. or being a professor? Let's not even get into all the development and advancement office staff that are non-UNT grads. Darn, I guess they just eliminated everyone who applied that was a UNT grad. As it is apparent that you really don't want to know the real facts of the matter (as it is easier to just continue to spew your negativity about all things that are UNT) I am going to bow out of this thread. It is just too frustrating and I have much more positive things to do in support of UNT, the Alumni Association and the Mean Green in general. Beer offer still stands, but I won't be responding on board any more about this topic. Try, as hard as it may be, to have a good day! GO MEAN GREEN!
  14. BEAT FRANCE!!!!!!! USA! USA!! USA!!! USA!!!! Score early...score often. You go ladies!!!!!
  15. I agree with the no Ohio State helmet sticker thing. To me, and it's only my opinion, nothing says "high school" more than a bunch of helmet stickers awarded for whatever reason and stuck all over the helmet. I do not recall Iowa State using such "motivation" during the time McCarney was HC, so there is definitely hope that UNT will not go "high school" on us with the sticker thing. GO MEAN GREEN!
  16. Silver...tried to PM you again...here is the exact message I got back from GMG.Com; "The member SilverEagle cannot receive any new messages". Don't have a clue why GreayEagle can get through, but I am not the only one who has tried to PM you without success lately. Have you tried deleting some old messages? Beer time???????
  17. Where did I say that the AD did not have a part in the promotion of spirit? And, how can you even say the AD is not concerned with that given all that is going on in the dept these days? Is you head stuck firmly in the sand? How about that beer...I will even buy, you might be interested in some actual factual information? Let me also ask that what part of the Alumni Association were you happy with when the executive director WAS a UNT Alumni? Do you even remember in how much disarray the Association was at that time and what was and was not happening? I think you might have forgotten that the Alumni Assoc. was all but non-existent during that time. What the Association is involved in today and the value that members receive for their membership is so far and away greater today than any time in the past when an alum was director that it isn't even funny. Do you even have any idea how many university alumni associations have alums as their executive directors? You might be surprised to learn the facts, but let's not let any of that get in the way. So, how about that beer? I'll even buy you the first two! maybe if you learned a bit of the facts of the matter you might find it a bit different than you assume it to be...amazing how that works sometimes. Let me know about that beer...I'm looking forward to it.
  18. Man, it's just too bad that those folks in the Athletic Dept. are just sitting around not doing anything and not scheduling any events and activities for the Mean green Club members and all the Mean Green fans ( tongue in cheek firmly planted and dripping with sarcasm noted for the few who can't tell). This is great stuff as it signals the "official" start of the new season for this Mean green fan. can't get going soon enough. Really appreciate all the AD folks are doing to provide opportunities for Mean green fans to get together, have some fun and gear up for the new stadium opening and the new season. Great job folks. GO MEAN GREEN...and...Why Not North Texas!
  19. That is correct, sir. And the attached flyer ever sort of indicates that when it talks about "no need to bring your own.....". That's for buying season tickets. Your support is appreciated. GO MEAN GREEN!
  20. On this we are in 100% agreement! I could care less if it deters crime. I am all for getting the scum who commit such capital crimes the justice they deserve. They have no place in society. Good riddance. My only concern here is that we make 100% certain that the person doing the crime is the one convicted!
  21. WOW! Just WOW! Where to start? First, why would the executive director or any paid staffer of the Alumni Association care to get involved in a dialogue on the board. Silly. You have seen where that gets RV, right? But, oh, Silver, I see you continue to be one to never to let anything like actual information and knowledge here and there get in the way of a flamable post or to keep one from pointing the finger at someone else for something someone thinks has been done wrong or poorly. It is well known that I am now on the board of the Alumni Association and have been associated with the Denton Chapter of the Alumni Association for many years. It's not like no one from the Association has been actively trying to drum up support. You want a dialogue on here? Funny...there is not much chance of a proper and calm dialogue on here, but I am happy to meet over a beer and have a real face-to-face chat about the Alumni Association if you care to do so. Like lots of things that get posted here, and lots of the blame that gets tossed around by folks who are more than happy to "let someone else do it" and just sit back and take pot shots, the facts are often lost in the fray. Not crediting you, of course, for all that, but to throw the Alumni Association under the bus as the place for the "blame" regarding what you perceive to be a lack of support for traditions, is simply ill-informed and mean-spirited. And, of course you are correct, no need for an AD if one doesn't have a good cheer or a great pre-game routine for the fans. That's, of course, the only reason for an AD and a full athletic department department in the first place, right? I don't even think you believe that deep down in that grumpy ole heart of yours. Have any idea about the history of the Alumni Association at UNT and the support it has received from the university and its alums through the years? How many people do you think work in the Alumni Association offices compared to like sized universities? What's the budget? How many members does it have compared to like sized universities? What programs and traditions does it support and has it continued to support year after year? Take me up on the offer for a beer (or two or three...it might take longer than one) and I'll provide what info I can for you about what YOUR alumni Association is doing. I assume you are not a member since if you were you would be receiving regular communications from the Association regarding everything it is up to these days. Plus, in the several years that i have been giving my time to the Association, I have never seen you at any of our sponsored events. Sometimes being more informed is just a matter of being involved.....even a little. Like a lot of things going on at UNT across the board today, lots of improvements have been made. It's just too bad that so many people seem to refuse to see it or acknowledge the progress being made. I've tried to PM you, but seems your box is full or the PM function is turned off for you. However, you do seem to have one tradition down pat...that of seeming to only find the negatives you perceive in everything that is UNT.
  22. Yep, July 30th it is beginning at 5PM...West Concourse of the new stadium. Come on out and enjoy the first Kickoff Cookout at the new stadium. It will start just after the Women's Clinic ends that day...it will be a very full Mean Green Day on the 30th for my bride and all the ladies of the Mean Green attending the clinic. Can't wait...let's get it going!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN and WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS!!!!!!!!
  23. WOW! The most miracle of miracles comeback by the USA today against Brazil (and the referees) to move the US into the final four! Fantastic goal to even by Wambauch in stoppage time and then the US wins it in the penalty kick phase after twp overtimes playing with ten for most of the second half and all of overtime. This is just fantastic. The refs actually did their best to "steal" this game for the Brazilians, but the US simply would not quit...AMAZING...an EPIC Match.. Man, if you saw this you saw some champions playing for the US. One of the most exciting soccer games I have ever witnessed. I am so glad that i got to see this magnificent game...I would have hated to have missed this. It will go down in soccer history as one of the classic games! GO USA....GO USA!!! I am actually stunned by this comeback. Hope Solo was amazing in goal!
  24. So, here we have the opportunity for all those folks who think we should raise taxes to step up. Warren Buffet can put his money where his thoughts are on taxes and start with a $1,000,000 donation, don't you think? So, come on folks...all those who talk about raising taxes, here's your chance to step up and show that you mean what you say and that you just don't mean for someone else to have their taxes raised for all those "well managed" government programs. Let's get those checks flowing folks...or are you just wanting someone else to pay? I am all "tounge in cheek" here, but it is pretty interesting that those who want to raise taxes seem to only want to raise them on "other people" such as those they consoder "rich".
