Rick...it wouldn't be the tradition it is without your dedication and work. The entire Mean green nation owes you a boatload of gratitude and thanks for all you do with and & for "Boomer". It would not be Mean Green football without Boomer...In some corners of my mind I am hopeful that you will have to do a bunch more work on Boomer after this season due to the number of times Boomer roared after Mean green scores. I won't say i would like to see the barrel melt due to all the firing, but maybe just enough to overheat Boomer a time or two this season...When the Mean green scores...Boomer Roars...let's hope Boomer roars a lot! Thanks, Rick. GO MEAN GREEN! Speak loud and often, Boomer!

Well, really folks, BOTH Walter Chapman and "Booger" Kennedy deserve to be in UNT's Athletic hall of Fame. If UNT forgets Chapman, it would definitely be a big mistake. But, as with everyone else here...congrats to Johnny Quinn. No debate about his worthiness...he belongs to be in the Hall with the UNT greats. Congrats Johnny.

I like this thread. Great to see the optimism. I, too, think UNT and the Mean Green faithful have plenty of legitimate reasons to be optimistic going into the 2011 season. Tackling should be much improved, the players will be better conditioned to help "close out" games in the 4th quarter, the entire coaching staff is experienced and has bowl and championship rings to prove it, the team was "killed" by injuries last season and the players seem to have a real "want to" attitude this year. Just think back to the way the team played the last four games last season...the potential is definitely there. Optimistic? Absolutely. GO MEAN GREEN & WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS INDEED!

Well, let me just say, the "bonus" was all mine, my bride's and the other GMG.com Bowl fans who stopped by to tailgate with you guys. It made the wait until the stadium opened pass very quickly indeed...want to say many thanks for cold beer as well! GMG.Com Bowl folks and cold beer...before the Kickoff Cookout...doesn't get much better than that...thanks for making a great evening even greater!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Thanks for the comments...now, come on ladies, let's hear from some more who attended the Clinic Saturday....What did you think? GO MEAN GREEN!

Looking like, size-wise, a very respectable D1 team. I think we will all continue to see good news regarding size and speed with the commitments by this coaching staff. I believe UNT will be fielding bigger, stronger and faster teams going forward...and, I think the team you will see on the field this year for UNT will be bigger, stronger and faster than last years team just do to the new coaching staff and the commitment the players are making to be much improved in 2011. Good things are definitely happening for UNT these days...GO MEAN GREEN!

debt deal
KRAM1 replied to eulesseagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
NO...the Republicans did NOT "lose again" as you mention. I don't recall seeing any new taxes in the deal...do you? I believe the Republicans big issue was no new taxes and spending cuts. Yes, there was a compromise on the amount of debt reduction and the fact that the agreement is for longer than six months, but to say the republicans lost is to be a bit naive...even the Wall Street Journal says it is akin to a victory for the Republicans. I won't go that far, but I do see that the R's got the deal without new taxes. How is that a loss???? -
It just keeps getting better and better! WOW...great get! GO MEAN GREEN!

You know, that's a great question...and I do not know the specific answer. Of course, it doesn't matter for the first game as there will be no restrictions on that game admittance-wise. If I am around when you arrive, look me up and I'll get you my two "guest" passes as I will probably just be there with my bride working our current scholarship fund-raiser program. I am 100% certain all these details can and will eb worked out...it may be a work in progress, so i don't expect things to be too restrictive this forst season. Time will tell, huh? GO MEAN GREEN!

THIS!!!! +1 for you, Sir. I am right there with you......Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere Come The Meamn Green!!!!!! WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS INDEED! GO MEAN GREEN!

Had a wonderful time...even went to see the new Alumni Pavilion and checked out my paver and its location. That place is going to be a wonderful place to "meet and greet" before games. I am pretty much speechless after the event last evening. I cannot imagine how it could have gone any better. The stadium looked fantastic, of course, and everyone in attendance was really excited. I saw lots of people carrying around these seat "tags" and heading into the fan shop to buy season tickets. It will be interesting to see how many season tickets are sold this season. Over 600 of the approximately 800 Club Level seats have been sold and RV expects them all to be sold before Sept.10th. How great is that? Lots of open spaces at the stadium that will allow for ease of entry and exit...the ticket booths look great, it was wonderful to finally have a "fan shop" at the stadium, the Club level is absolutely amazing, etc., etc., etc. Don't know what else I can say as I am running out of superlatives this morning. Great to see so many GMG.com members having a great time.

UNT Football Kickoff Cookout July 30 5-7 PM
KRAM1 replied to greenjoe's topic in Mean Green Football
Amazing stadium, super charged head coach, fired up athletic director, over 2,000 Mean Green fans...priceless! An evening to remember. I am so proud of UNT and the Mean green. Thanks, RV, for seeing that your vision for the program has come to reality for the Mean green faithful! -
Cannot express how proud I was last evening walking around that stadium with 2000 other Mean green fans. I saw lots of people buying season tickets as well when i visited the Fan Shop and bought my first Nike Mean Green polo. I found it interesting that RV mentioned that Purdue was expecting 1400 at their Kickoff event and the Mean green had 2000+. Purdue..Big 10...yes, folks, great things are beginning to happen at UNT. Hey, the hot dogs were good and the beer was cold! My rear end fit very well in my seat and the view is absolutely fantastic! A great day for the Mean green nation...harry, thanks for the great write-up! GO MEAN GREEN!

UNT Commit #8: LB Royce LeFrance, Helen Cox
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
And, so it begins...this is good news, indeed. UNT is beginning to see the advantages of the new stadium and the experienced coaching staff already. Great to get these commits and I am hoping that UNT holds all its commits and gets them to actually sign. I see signs that this will, indeed, be the case. We all know how these things go between the time a kid commits and the time to actually sign, but I'll put my money on UNT holding many more of these kids than they could have hoped to in the past few years. We will all see the pluses in this and it will definitely build. Kids see their friends being positive about UNT and they begin to see UNT in a newer and more positive light as well. Just great stuff going on these days for the Mean green. GO MEAN GREEN! -
This is excellent news, indeed. It's the sort of thing "big time" program do and the sort of thing that will get UNT on the radar screens of many more HS recruits in the future. Coach mac has put together a very experienced staff and RV has put together some of the best facilities in the country. The Mean green will soon...very soon...once again be a force to be reckoned with in the D1 football ranks. Got to say hi to Coach Chico this morning when I dropped my bride off for the Women's Football Clinic. As always, he was upbeat, smiling and full of energy. I just am so glad UNT has Coach Chio running the offense. Every coach I saw this morning was upbeat, positive and seemed excited to be hosting all the ladies...and speaking of the ladies, sure looked like it was going to be a big crowd this year. See you at the Kickoof Cookout this evening...this is going to be a great start to the 2011 season. Let's get it going! GO MEAN GREEN & WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS INDEED!!!!!

+1 for you, Sir. RV definitely deserves some kudos. Hope to see you at the Kickoff Cookout today! GO MEAN GREEN!

WOW...great shot. Thanks for posting it! GO MEAN GREEN! Lets pack the thing Saturday for the Kickoff Cookout!

Well, he IS a name, and has some expertise for sure, but this sort of leaves me like...OK, great, now what sort of feeling. No real excitement about the hire as most figured this would be the call anyway. But, like all coaching changes, the results on the field will tell the tale in the long run. At least the team can now get on with "fixing" the woeful state it is in at this time. Glad it didn't drag out any time, OK with this hire, but no excitement. USA!!!! USA!!!!
-
Alumni members with single memberships can, indeed, bring one guest...joint memberships are allowed two guests.
-
Mark (MDH) thanks for getting the photo up for me. And, thanks to LongJim for the offer to help as well. Much appreciate the technical assistance here. I guess I need a 12 year old neighbor kid to follow me around and handle all this "hi tech" stuff for me so i don't have to bother you guys...thanks again. Looks great, doesn't it? GO UNT ALUMNI...GO MEAN GREEN!

I am simply thrilled by all the great PR UNT is getting these days. Wait until that big donor announcement on Aug. 15th and see what other great PR UNT gets...along with a VERY big commitment...I am hearing that it is in the neighborhood of $20million +. Things just keep getting better for UNT. It's a great time to be a member of the MEAN GREEN NATION! GO MEAN GREEN & WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS INDEED!

If this is a serious question and not a reference to the UNT "Black Uni" thing...the answer is YES. Oklahoma State's official colors are Orange and Black. And, perhaps to tell you why...it seems when OSU was founded they saw themselves as the "Princeton on the Prairie" and, as such, chose the Tiger as their first mascot and orange and black as their official colors. There you have a bit of OSU history and lore...

While I agree 100% with what greenjoe is saying here (and greenjoe definitely supports the Mean Green and has for many many years), I will point out that you will definitely "get something" in return for joining the Mean Green Club. Not the least of which, is the knowledge that you are helping to fund scholarships for UNT athletes and, on top of that, you will meet a ton of other great members of the Mean Green nation that you might not otherwise have gotten to know. Those two benefits, alone, are worth the contribution...at any level. Great points, greenjoe...and GO MEAN GREEN!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8668906/NHS-delays-operations-as-it-waits-for-patients-to-die-or-go-private.html Thought those of you who favor government controlled healthcare might like to take a look at the article associated with the link I have posted above. Pretty interesting "stuff", and this is how it works in reality, not in some styleized politicians dreams of the greatness of government rationing and redistribution of healthcare services.
