Sort of surprised it did not go to $1000 for a lifetime membership. At $700 still a pretty darn good deal for most folks. Appreciate your converting to a Lifetime membership! Good on you! -

This is Founders Club Seating which is all-inclusive---dinner, drinks (draft beer, wine, soft drinks) and dessert. We are beginning to see a few player sign ups...so far we have: Grant, Rob, Will, Emmitt, Ben, Greendylan, Kris, Thor, Randall, Rico and Vince for a total of eleven (11) players. That's a great start, but we sorely need more. Some of our "regulars" have not signed up as yet. I hope they are just waiting a bit to confirm dates. Remember, this is a co-ed event. If any ladies want to play, it is AOK and we would love to have you. Playing time is determined by yourself...play as little as you like or jump in often. No one need think they are too "out of shape" or "not good enough" at basketball to play. This is a fun game and we try to keep it that way. Also...need a couple of Captains. Andrew has informed me that he will not be playing this year as a family commitment is barring him from doing so. Andrew usually would captain a team...so, this year we are in need of two captains. Not much to being a captain other than "herding cats" a little. Just let me know. Sign-up donations link is: https://one.unt.edu/8th-annual-spring-classic

17.5 Years looks to be your breakeven at the new pricing...and who is to say that the annual will remain at $40/year over that 17.5 years? I would wager that you will live at least 20+ more years. Still a win if you think you will live at least 18 more years. Now, this just from a cost basis of course. :-) -

The Denton Chapter used it for events a couple of times...like our Oktoberfest Beer Tasting thing, and there have been some efforts to utilize it at other times. Plus it is used each year to watch the homecoming bonfire lighting (but that is pretty close to a football game). With the expansion, I am thinking there will be significantly more opportunities. The issue in the past has been manpower to open it, run it and clean up after events. Not sure where the "manpower" thing stands at this time. -
Indeed...trying to keep it simple. Excited to have you back yet again Sir. I believe you have participated in each and every one. Your support is very much appreciated.

Big push for enrollment that does not take space on the UNT campus itself. On-Line and the Frisco Campus are but two examples. UNT is running out of capacity for additional on-campus students and will see a slowing in additional numbers as that capacity gets closer and closer. New dorm going up and new parking facilities in the planning stages, and yes, property is being purchased for future construction. But, it isn't enough. Space is also dearly needed for programs and classrooms, labs, etc., so all the new construction will not necessarily add to on campus enrollment capacity. Thus, the need for off-campus facilities (Frisco) and increases in on-line enrollment. Got to keep those enrollment dollars increasing somehow. The good news is that UNT is fast becoming a destination University. Already is for several of its programs. The goal is to add many more programs to that list...including athletics of course.

Yes...they will be adding to the back side against the hill and will pretty much double capacity...a stage will be added for music, etc. as well...new furniture. However...this new area...to be named the Diamond Eagle Family Area (or something like that to honor the donors) will not be completely covered. It will have shade type covering if the drawings are any indication. It is great that the music will be moved to that area...providing more space on the original patio and a bit less blasting to ears enjoying that area. This is really great news...and this project was, in my opinion, by far, the best of the projects presented. It won with a pretty decent margin as I understand how it came out. FYI...the Diamond Eagle, in case you do not know, are a group of donors donating a minimum of $1000 annually to support worthy projects around the UNT campus. This was our first year. The part that "hooked me" and made me pony up, is that fact that we get to pick where our donations go on an annual basis. Areas of campus are encouraged to submit project ideas for consideration. I believe five will be presented to the Diamond Eagles for discussion, consideration and a vote. Winner take all! There were two functions this last year. The first to unveil the projects under consideration and the second to announce the winner. Really nice events. The idea was formed by Debbie Smatresk and moved along with the help of some great volunteers. It really is a diverse and interesting group. At the unveil I met and talked for a good while with Daisy Rogers (widow of the late great Bob Rogers). Daisy is now 96 years old. And I can tell you, it was fascinating talking with he for about 45 minutes. Oh, the stories she can tell. She has lived through them. So much fun. She was sitting alone, so I just walked up, introduced myself and we went from there. If anyone is interested in joining or thinking about joining the Diamond Eagles let me know. You will definitely be making a difference at UNT and you will be voting on where your donations go...exactly where they go. Fingers crossed that the new expansion will be ready for the SMU game this September 1st! You never know...could happen. I am just hoping it does not take as long as the new ticket facility being constructed at the Super Pit! Ha!- 29 replies

Looking like $65,000 to $100,000. But that is for a year's play. Tony played in three different leagues just last season alone.

Anyone else think this has something to do with our new marketing agreement with Learfield? Let's be honest...how much good does this sort of thing do UNT? You get a green hat with the Texas Rangers logo. Outside of the folks who attended and a few "interested" fans, who recognizes that hat as a UNT hat? Marketing dollars must be spent where they will do the most good. Perhaps helping the Rangers fill seats and sell tickets is not exactly on UNT's radar these days. I don't have a clue...on the other hand...don't care if there is a UNT Rangers night or not. Never much did anything for me. Now, and FC Dallas UNT night??? Now you are talking. Ha!

In addition, if someone would like to simply donate to the Spirit Scholarship Fun they will be able to do so through the link as well. By using the link, you will be able to receive an official UNT donations receipt. Priceless...the Old SWNAKE PIT!!! APRIL 14t (A Saturday) with doors opening about 10:00am for t-shirt [pick-up and registration with an 11:00am tip-off for our game. BINGO!

Club level was open at about 8:45am for all attendees. Had between 100-125 in attendance at the height during the lunch and Coach Littrell talk. Some ventured out to watch practice...I did for a SHORT period of time, but the view from inside the club area was excellent enough for me on that day. Interesting comment from Seth..."I don't have to coach the coaches". He was speaking to how much faster they could get down to business this season as opposed to last as all coaches remained over from last season and all know the system and what Coach Littrell wants and expects. Plus, the majority of players know their coaches quite well which makes for a fast start to spring ball. Thought that was interesting. Free lunch, which I liked very much, consisted of sausage dogs, hot dogs and chopped BBQ beef sandwiches and potato chips. Nice! All in all...good way to kick off spring ball for those fortunate enough to be able to attend.

On its way!

Perfect! Thank you Sir...what player t-shirt size for you this year??

OK, we have set the tip-off time for 11:00am of the 14th. Time for players to start signing up ...at this point we have four ready to go: THOR-Has played in all of our games from the very start...this will be number eight for this warrior! Vince RICO Randall So, things are beginning to shape up, but, obviously, we need players. We will be setting a sign-up deadline shortly, so stand by for that. Also...we will be looking for volunteer captains for this year's game as well. Anyone want to take on the role for a team this year? Really not much to it...just have to "herd cats" a bit. Simple, right? Questions? Let me know. Will try to get the answer to you ASAP.
