Hey, SEC needs no defending, but this match-up certainly does. Boring possibilities for a title championship game. And, no...it's not the best match-up they could have had. Who wants to watch a conference also-ran like "Bama get a shot at the National Title? Check out which team has more wins this year against top 25 teams and which team has more wins against bowl teams this season. The answer is, of course, OKIE STATE! Take off those "bama red colored glasses and try to look for the best match-up from a couple of teams who actually accomplished something within their conferences this year, against ranked opponents and against bowl selected teams. But, fact remains...it's Also-ran "bama against a legit contender in LSU...YAWN! Too bad the second legit contender is going to the Fiesta Bowl this year. ....right back at ya! OK, I'll admit to a big bias in favor of Okie State...just sayin...not impartial here at all. -
Just can't count on GreenP1...you know that all hat and no cattle thing once again! Ha! Just "funnin' with ya! I was actually pleased for Kolb, but wanted Dallas to win. I was thinking several times during the game about "Two sacks of Kevin Kolb" while the Cowboys couldn't seem to get any pressure on him...where the heck were you?????

Any Republican candidate is better than the guy currently occupying the Oval Office...any of them. Yes, Newt has some baggage, so does Obama...so did LBJ...is it any worse than what Clinton did in the White Hose as a sitting president or what JFK did right under the nose of Jackie in the White House bedrooms? It will be interesting to see if Newt gets the chance to debate Obama. He should beat the tar out of Obama if it were a real and fair debate. But as all of the "debates" seem to be, the questions will be handed out ahead of time and the candidates won't even answer to question asked 50% of the time. These are not debates, just campaign speeches in a set up format. But, sure would be fun to see a real one with college debate team rules and no pre-studied questions...with questions from truly non-partisan folks. How fun would that be? No teleprompters...wow! Newt would just beat the stuffing out of Obama in that situation...alas we will never see it. Newt may not even get the nomination. I still think it is Romney's to lose, but you never know. Still time.

Don't forget OKState.edu Indeed...Go Pokes! Didn't realize you were such a fan of the Cowboys of OK State. -
OCCUPY WALL STREET CROWD...a bunch of folks who have accomplished nothing protesting folks who have. A bunch of folks who don't even know what or why they are protesting, have no uniform message and who are now being controlled by some of the very BIG MONEY folks they want to seem to protest. Priceless! Some of the UNT crowd is treating this "homeless guy" as more of a pet than a human being. I am sure he was welcomed with open arms in the encampment and treated to free food as well...like I said a "pet" not a human being and now we have folks here doing the "oh so sad thing". Yes, it is sad...it is sad that the guy chose to use drugs, to end up homeless and to die as he did. He was, indeed, a human being and it's tough to see this happen to anyone. But, let's all understand that he was probably in no way interested in the OWS movement, but rather a dry and warmer place to shoot-up and grab some free food from college students. I feel sorry for his family and for his situation. I hope they find peace with the fact that their loved one chose to live his life the way he did and to have to die by what appears to be his own hand in such a situation. May God grant him peace and may he rest in peace. Sad, but 100% predictable for this situation. Like was said earlier...UNT should have policed this and not allowed anyone not a student or otherwise associated with the university as faculty/staff to be involved on campus property. Sad, so very sad on many levels.

What kind of monster? The kind that put you to sleep the first time these two teams played? Same conference, same two schools who played each other on national TV earlier? A team that didn't even make it to their conference title game? A great defense against a great offense? That kind of game? Oh, wait...they passed on that possibility to set up this possible "monster". I'll be watching, of course, but sure hope I can stay awake past half-time. It sure was hard the first time around. YAWN! -
Did we forget the Apogee donation to the stadium? believe that was a nice sized "athletic dept." gift, no? Good for UTA, but UNT is way ahead of UTA in giving numbers. FYI...UNT will announce its first ever capital campaign in the not too distant future,...and remember, most capital campaigns have received at least 1/2 of the goal BEFORE the campaign is announced publicly. If anyone thinks UNT will be passed by the likes of UTA in the gifts area, they have another think coming. I congratulate UTA for this donations and for the fact they are finally upgrading that horrible excuse of a basketball arena...amazing they could field the quality of teams they have playing on that ridiculous stage...so, great news UTA. I see no reason to compare what UNT is doing with UTA....to call UTA a "lessor" school has no real standing. UTA has a great program going and it is growing as is UNT. I think that's good news for both schools and I hope they reinstate football one of these days so UNT can have a local school not afraid to play them "in a Safeway parking lot" if necessary. I always appreciate the fact that UTA schedules UNT in basketball...fun games!

Check out the number of wins OSU has against top 25 teams this season vs Alabama. Check out the number of wins against bowl bound teams OSU has vs Alabama. Stacked in favor of Alabama from the get-go..."Bama" didn't even win its division and was sitting home on the sofa when the games that mattered were played. If it matters who you play (and it looks like it doesn't) OSU should be playing for the title and "Bama should be in Arizona. I hope the game isn't as boring as the first match-up...not one TD scored...where are all the "I hate soccer because it's so low scoring" folks on this one? Why not give a powerhouse offense a chance to see what it can do against that LSU defense? Oh, well, it was not to be...good luck to LSU and Alabama...and good luck to OSU...go out to Arizona and light up that Stanford defense (and good luck hold Luck and the Stanford offense at bay as you did OU). Full disclosure here...as many of you know I also hold a degree from OSU. And...I don't think anyone should be calling them Okie Lite any longer...ask OU about that...44-10...hmmmmmmmm. Light my rear end. Ha!

A sincere thanks to those who braved the weather

Great day. Had a blast being at that game. Appreciate all the Mean Green fans who did attend to help send this group of seniors out with as good memories as possible. Just a great day to be a member of the Mean Green nation. -
I just love it when folks tell "other people" what they should and should not do when they have no information regarding the situation, the process involved or the need for volunteers...perhaps those who feel the need to criticize should volunteer to man Boomer the next time it pours down and make sure that it all goes the way they think it should. I am fairly certain that your volunteer help would be fairly well received. Then you could acquire the tent, put up that tent, take care of it and Boomer before and during the game and then dry and clean Boomer properly after the game. Shouldn't take more than 4-5 hours of your time. The Talons probably aren't too hard to get in touch with. Sounds like some here know exactly how it SHOULD have been handled. I look forward to seeing how well you do that next season. I agree with Silver and his "traditions" mantra. Maybe some traditions just need a bit more volunteers to make sure they are handled properly.

So, short of anything else to complain about someone decides to complain about Boomer. Nice. Amazing stuff this...have you ever heard of black powder, rain and inexperienced cannon crew members? Probably a good idea, on several levels, to keep Boomer dry and warm yesterday. Yes, I recognized that Boomer wasn't there and I wished that he was, but knew immediately that the right decision was made in this case. Sometimes one has to use one's brain even when it might not be "fun". I would imagine that if Boomer had been rolled our, the Talons would not have known how to properly dry and store Bommer after the game and we'd end up with FFR having to spend countless hours once again repairing, cleaning and polishing Boomer once more. Find something else to complain about as you probably have no clue how to care for a black powder cannon like Boomer. But, to answer your question...yes, they have wars in the rain. Ever read or studied history regarding the use of black powder weapons during those wars? Give it a try...it's interesting and you will find the many and varied challenges soldiers faced in trying to do so......Good grief...sometimes ignorance just gets in the way of good sense, I guess.

My wife and I were there and we enjoyed every second of the game, the senior day activities, having fun with fellow members of the Mean green nation, the Alumni Pavilion before the game, and yes, getting a little wet. It's football, it's December...it rains. What I was happy about regarding the weather is that it was not overly cold to go along with the wet. GREAT game and a significant win #5 for the Mean Green. If you stayed home, you missed a great day to be Green and to support the seniors who have been through a lot more than a little rain shower during their four years. I totally disagree with the comment made here that the players had looks of disgust on their faces. The players I saw and those I know were more than happy with the day and the game. Sure, all would have liked a packed house, but they knew that was not going to be the case given the weather. We all knew before the game who would show up and who wouldn't and we knew the students would definitely not show up and they didn't...it really is sad that when the alum side far outnumbers the student side...remember, lots of the alums in attendance were inside the Club area and in the boxes and really couldn't be seen from the student side. I saw them...they were there...sure, they didn't have to get wet, but they did show up. I appreciate each and every person who showed up and I appreciate the effort made to support this program. The "fair weather" fans will begin to come with the wins and they'll claim they were there through the good and through the bad, but who cares? No me, I just want the bandwagon to start filling up. I can guarantee you that the team, the athletic department and the coaching staff knows who they can count on.... Great fun yesterday at Apogee...thanks for the memories, seniors...thanks for getting this program back on the road to respectability and winning! Well done! See you in the spring!

That made you a member of the Alumni Association and provides you and a guest with free access to the Alumni Pavilion prior to home games (along with many other valuable benefits), but it is NOT associated with the Mean green Club. The Mean Green Club is an organization that supports UNT Athletics and athletic scholarships. It is entirely separate from the UNT Alumni Association. Mean Green Club Memberships start at $125. I am a volunteer rep for the Mean Green Club. PM me with your contact info and I'll get you info on the Mean Green Club and will try to answer any questions that you might have about either the Mean Green Club or the Alumni Association.

Who cares? Good for Leach, good for WSU since they wanted the guy...but who the heck cares? He was NEVER coming to UNT. The $$$$ was just not there...don't believe it if you wish, but check out what Coach mac is making and what Leach got at WSU. Since he was never in the mix...ever...for UNT (and I am personally very pleased about that), if you are a Mean green fan this has no impact on you what so ever. Folks, the guy was never a coach at UNT, was not going to be a coach at UNT...please give yourself a break and get over it. Now, if you are a TT fan, grad, etc. ... I definitely get it. The TT fans may have something to be sore about and want to keep the "fire's burning" so to say...UNT fans...I just don't see the point. Good luck Coach Leach...and good luck WSU...I hope it works out.

I'd like to finish with a bang too, but my wife might have something to say about that....Hmmmmmm....
-
Are the extra seats near you? That might explain some of it at least...just kidding, just kidding. It has been too long since I gave you a chance to shoot back at me with something. And, the political board has been so void of anything worth responding too lately I just thought it was time we stirred the pot a little. I hope one day that you will be having a hard time keeping up with everyone who is asking for the tickets or who are trying to buy the tickets...AND, most importantly...thanks for supporting UNT with that ticket purchase!

Not "if" UNT wins Saturday as the title of the thread mentions...BUT WHEN UNT wins Saturday the record will be 4-4 in the 'Belt and 5-7 overall. I say that's a darn good start to turning this Green Machine around in a positive direction. FILL APOGEE for SENIOR DAY Saturday...these seniors have been through a lot during their careers at UNT and they have hung in there and worked hard to build a better and stronger program for the players who follow. Time for the Mean green faithful to tun out on SENIOR DAY to say "good bye" and "thanks for all you have done" to the seniors...I, for one, am very appreciative of the fact they stayed to see it through...

Well, I certainly hope to see Coach Canales here next season. However, he certainly desires a HC position. So, if he gets one this year I will wish him well and hope that UNT finds an even better new OC. However, I think Coach C might just want to stay and help the turn around continue to at least get a winning year or two before moving on...who knows, but the guy is good and seems ready for the next step. I agree however, that it needs to be a good opportunity...not sure UAB is that "good opportunity". BUT....some may have said that about UNT when Coach mac decided to come....it is what you make out of it. Coach mac is making "good things happen" for UNT and Coach C is his OC...we'll see where that leads... In the meantime...let's get to 7-5 this year! BEAT MT!!!!

Happy Birthday, Evan...appreciate all you do for the Mean Green Nation. Make your day a GREAT ONE!
-
You know GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING FOR UNT when the board discussion turns to "bowl eligibility" and the Mean Green in the same thread! This, in itself, is enough to demonstrate that the program is heading in the right direction.
-
Yes, the Bill Utter Ford folks have been UNT supporters for a long time. I believe they are members of the Mean green Wheel Club along with supporting UNT is many other ways. If any Mean green fan is ever looking for a Ford product or even a used care, give these guys a look see. They support UNT and have for a long time. JRock...glad you had a good experience.

Thanks for keeping us all posted on the CH recruits...great to see the write-ups. Hopefully, CH can go deep into the playoffs without the UNT recruits picking up any new injuries...and win a few more games in the final year of their HS careers. Appreciate the updates....

Coach mac mentioned on the post-game show that Ivan Delgado has definitely earned a scholarship! Great news...the kid has really stepped up this season. He just makes plays!

While I agree with your statement regarding being overpaid, overpraised and overvalued, the fact remains that athletes, authors and actors are indeed looked up to as role models by our youth...and the youth of the entire world for that matter. I don't recall seeing kids lined up around a college building to get the autograph of an esteemed professor after a lecture. Like it or not (and I tend to not like it) it is a fact of life. As such, these folks should act accordingly both on and off the field. Where the problem and shame lies is in the fact that many see their role as you do and therefore act accordingly. For that matter,ALL adults are role models for our youth...they should realize that and they should act accordingly. "Say it ain't so, Joe"........
