Well, close but no cigar on the car wash...but that Frosty will sure taste good.

Oh, no...just thinking about the possibility that this could be Tony's last home game wearing a MEAN GREEN jersey is enough to make this grown man cry! But, if that's the case, it has been one great ride and privilege watching Tony play and I wish him noting but the best of success going forward...but, I also wish that "success" at another level starts at least one year later! Yes, I may just be a "dreamer"..... If you have any possibility of getting to this game, please consider doing so....would be GREAT to see 5000 plus in the Super Pit to create a real home field advantage and to show all the Mean green players how much we appreciate them. It's senior night Saturday as well, so it will definitely be the last home game for some real UNT warriors... How about: Alonzo Edwards...playing hurt and giving all he's got to help the team...saw him limp off again last night and come right back! Tyler Hall...WOW! What can you say about this walk-on student-athlete who has really stepped up when the team needed him the most? Great game last night too! Kedrick Hogans...another wounded warrior....saw him limp off last evening as well...gives you what he's got every time on the floor. Justin Patton - listed as a senior, but don't we possibly have Justin for next season-grades pending of course? Come out and pack the Super Pit to send this team off with a victory as it heads out for the final two road games in route to the Sunbelt Tournament. These student-athletes have earned the privilege, in my opinion, to play before a packed house on senior night! See you at the Super Pit Saturday. Well, let's not forget our lady seniors either....who play their last home game at 1:00pm in the Super Pit before the men tip off at 3:30PM.... Kasondra Foreman Alyssa Hankins Brittney Hudson Tamara Torru WELL done ladies...really turned it around this season. The Mean green Nation is very proud of you as students and as athletes! Let's go get that win against LaLa Saturday and send our seniors off with a big "W" in their last home game!

Thanks, Emmitt, happy to have you back and thanks for agreeing to coach once again! get ready for that player draft!!! Players...want to be on Emmitt's team? Now is your time to start lobbying...our second coach will be named shortly...we have someone "considering it"....waiting for the response....Remember, Coaches draft their players. There is an advantage to being a coach....yes? YES! REMINDER: Last day to sign-up to play is FRIDAY, March 16th.

Wow...it has already begun...there is one guy who has now said he is "done" with UNT...no more BB games this year, no hot springs trip and it's looking like no more season football tickets as well because of this announcement. Really? Seriously? Might want to relax a little and think about that threat before you get to deep into it. I realize some folks would like to see a new AD for UNT...no, as everyone knows, I am not one of those folks...that's no secret, and I respect the other sides opinion, I just happen to think they are misguided. But a threat such as the above in actuality does no harm to the AD, his staff or his programs, but it hurts UNT and it certainly smacks of one "cutting their own nose off to spite his face". We have all "sat through", cheered through and suffered through the trails and tribulations that is UNT athletics through the years, some for many more years that I have...right, Rick Spears? But, we all have very very fond memories of our times sitting in those seats, standing and yelling, enjoying Mean green victories and suffering through the losses together. I would hate to lose a friend and a long-time supporter of the Mean green over a personnel decision that none of us have any control over whatsoever. The greatness that is the Mean Green is much bigger than that and much bigger than any one person...no matter what position they hold. We can agree to disagree on the situation involving our AD, but what i don't think we would ever disagree on is our love for all that is the Mean green. UNT is OUR school, not the AD's or any one other person's...it is OUR school. Why not take a moment and think about that before making such a flat statement that one is "done with it"! Once you let this genie out of the bottle it's tough to put it back inside. Seriously....is it really worth losing all that over...all the years...all the memories ...all the friendships and acquaintances made through supporting the Mean Green, all the wins and all the losses....

Do you know that it wasn't?

Go with the Arlington if they still have rooms. It's a classic and when my wife and I walked through it last year we enjoyed the look and feel of the "old girl"....really...check out the web site for the place and see what you can find...I think the Embassy Suites are sold out and that's really not a high-end hotel...check out the Arlington...but whatever you do...just show up in Hot Springs. It really is a lot of fun!

Oh, great, more government regulations...just what the left loves so much. No way government regulations guarantee this sort of thing can never happen again, but while you are at it, how about a government regulation that taxpayer dollars can never again be used to bail out private and semi-private entities? Now, there's a new government regulation I could probably get behind...you can't run it well, it goes broke...sorry...you either had a bad product, a non-competitive product r terrible customer service...see ya...you don't get saved on the back of the taxpayer dollar to then turn around and compete with those who didn't get a bailout and made it through hard work, superior management, great products, etc., etc. How does that idea work for the left? Government regulation, right? And while you are at it...pass the balanced budget amendment and sign off on the fact that Congress should live under each and every law and regulation that the rest of us have to do....now, there's some more government regulations we should all support...write your congressman and senator.....How about one more...all congressman, senators, presidents and federal judges have to actually have at least read the US Constitution BEFORE they can run for office at any level....or in the case of federal judges be appointed to the bench. Seems to me that we should all be able to agree on these government regulations.....

Very happy to see this. Glad to know the Mean green nation will have Rick as it's AD for some time to come. Agree with MeanGreenTexan. Congratulation, Rick V. and thanks for all you are doing for UNT. This post has been promoted to an article

And, President Obama is the first ever president to speak ill and "dis" his predecessor during his inaugural speech with the former president sitting right on the podium with him! Talk about taking the high road, and this guy has been bashing Bush almost on a daily basis ever since. Obama still...STILL...blames Bush and Congress for everything...then to top it off he delivers a campaign blueprint rather than a budget to Congress that he knows full well has ZERO chance of being passed...and wastes untold federal dollars and untold hours of every one's time and energy in doing so and in having the thing printed....you go O! Harry Truman he is not....the "buck never stops" on O's desk!

GREAT PUB for Mitchell and UNT! Thanks for posting that NT1978... While this thread is up I want to mention that The Denton Chapter of the UNT Alumni Association will have a table in the Mean green Room before tonight's home basketball game against Monroe where we will be selling our Sunbelt Conference/UNT basketball coins (yes, we'll probably have a few of the Apogee coins on hand as well). The BB coin can be seen right here with NT1978's avatar...great looking coin and a great memento of this season and the tournament. Price is $15 per coin and proceeds go to the Chapter's scholarship fund. The chapter will, for your information, be awarding four scholarships to freshman students this fall as a result of your generous support of our projects. Please check the coins out in the Mean green Room before tonight's game.

Green59...thanks so much...another one I can always count on to help support these events and in so doing support UNT. You know how much I appreciate all you do...and so do the UNT student-athletes that you help support through your generosity. Way to go Green59...thanks a ton! Now, are there any folks out there who do PayPal???? Just wondering...you know, you don't have to have a PayPal log on to use PayPal, right? Thanks to all...still a long way to go to meet our goal, but it's getting closer with every generous donation. ALSO...we have Raquel Cuffie returning as a referee for our game along with newbie Troy Kokjohn one of our graduating...yes, I said graduating, senior football players signed up to ref as well. This is going to be a fun day for Mean Green Nation folks...come on out and watch the action (no admission charge) or sign up to play...still time.

Thoughts on this TCU mess
KRAM1 replied to emmitt01's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Emmitt is 100% correct. Great post...however, one small point...it was not "just" marijuana that the cops found and were sold by these TCU kids....I tried like crazy to point this legal vs illegal stuff to all three of our kids as they were growing up, and stressed how just one little "incident" could change the course of their entire lives and they needed to think long and hard about their choices. They are choices and one can CHOOSE to obey the law and avoid the penalties or they can choose for whatever reason to "take their chances". Our youngest is now a Navy Physician after having attended a US Federal military academy and medical school at USUHS (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) in Washington, DC...actually Bethesda. He has now served proudly as a flight surgeon in Iraq and is currently in residency in San Diego, CA. His wife is also a Navy Doc...my point...NONE OF THIS would have been available to him should he have made the choices these TCU kids did. His life would have been entirely different...and it's a cinch he would not have had the opportunity to meet the "love of his life" while in med school. The "costs" in this sort of thing go way beyond the legal coasts and they impact so many people. Think of what this is doing to a fine university in Ft. Worth and all the people who have worked so hard to help TCU through the years. Think about the progress that football program has made in recent years...this could end up costing a pretty darn good coach his job when all is said and done...what about the assistant coaches and their families should something happen to Patterson and on and on and on. Think of the recruits that will no longer visit TCU and the donors who might just cut back or withhold donations in the near term? What about the families of these kids who will suffer emotionally and financially because of the selfish actions (and that's exactly what it is...selfish) of these kids. This is a mess and it will get a bunch worse before it gets better. At this point it appears that TCU (unlike Penn State) is handling this mess head on with no excuses...we'll all see how it unfolds going forward. Personally, I feel very poorly for TCU as a university right now, it's students, alums, faculty and staff. They all deserve better than what these kids did.... GREAT post Emmitt! And, from a guy whio is on the front lines with this stuff every day and knows exactly what he is talking about. People...listen up here to what Emmitt is saying. -
AND, you will score more in this year's GMG.Com Basketball game as well!

Some, to be unnamed here, kind person offered me a quarter...but only after he first swallowed it and got in back in a day or two! So, OK by me...if it's a quarter and that's what you want to donate then I'll be happy to accept it...I'll be in the Mean Green Room this evening...you can easily find me there, or you can find me in my regular seat at the game...you know where it is....and I'll happily accept your quarter...and in the spirit in which you have offered it. You know how the saying goes...with friends like these....... Pretty funny, but I do accept your generous offer and will be happy to present it along with all the other donations and monies we receive through this effort to the Cheer Squad at the end of the event...I will, of course, wash that quarter first! Here's to "enabling" the Cheer Squad to have a little support. Appreciate your help and support.....no matter what amount...even that quarter or any quarter.
-
Got you down, Sir...happy to have you back for round two. Now, go grad BonfireBrian and twist his arm to sign up as well.....he was a "player" in last year's game as well! Got you down for the medium shirt...thanks for the support! EDIT; Brain freeze...BonfireBrian is in and has been in for sometime...sorry Brian...I got ya!
-
You, Sir are much appreciated, and I am more than a little grateful for your help and support as will be the members of the Cheer Squad who will benefit from your generosity. See you Thursday.... Mark
-
AMEN and thank you. Could not agree more!
-
One big problem here...the presidential election is not won on the "popular vote". It's the electoral college that actually elects the president of the United States....one can lose the popular vote and still win the presidency. I am sure you know that, but it still makes these predictions nothing more than entertainment value.
-
Somehow I just knew I could count on you. Really appreciate this as I know you will already be coughing up the $25 playing fee as well. If you would like...I can count $25 of this $50 as the playing fee. I think that only fair in response to your very generous support. Deal? Done! Thanks, Mike. See you Thursday... Maybe there are others who would like to donate but don't do PayPal...I get that as well...so just PM me and I can arrange a time to meet you or give you an address where chacks can be mailed payable to "UNT Athletics" with "Cheer Squad" on the memo line. And...thanks to the "grump bucket" who actually gve me a -1 for the post asking for support for these great kids...shame on you! But, par for the course I guess....
-
Great job young lady...the Mean green nation is proud of you! However, I would have been even happier for you and the Mean green Nation if your quote when asked about the winnings wasn't "I might even go to my dream school - either Stanford or Southern California". UNT could use a few more like you enrolling here in Denton. However, you "done us proud" and you have my sincerest congratulations. Go Monica!

Whitney Houston Dead
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Whitney Houston...I couldn't care less what this druggie did to herself...already tired of all the platitudes and memorials...sorry it happened, but it was going to happen sooner or later...no excuses, she made her choice...and wasted a gifted life in doing so...Happens way too often. No, you are wrong...I have certainly not...nor will I forget the sacrifice of Lt. Michael Murphy...a real American Hero...but, I get your point. Amazing how and where society today places its values! -
I just have the feeling that integrity at TCU is too important to all concerned to allow these kids to stay in school. What a shame, but the stupidity of these kids says all you need to know about that situation. A lesson learned the hard way for these kids...not just the athletes involved...but maybe learned early enough so as to not completely ruin their lives and futures.
