BIG DAY MONDAY - March 26th
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
You are seriously mistaken, sir. This is MYCH much different that states requiring auto insurance. Really sorry to hear of the challenges you are having with coverage at the moment...I wish you the best in getting that resolved. -
Texas Voter ID Law
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Denton...but I also come from a place where voting is important enough to do what it takes to be able to vote and to assure the integrity of the election. Lots of ways to get the appropriate ID... I have an 86 year old Mom who cannot drive and who can barely walk, but she is already letting me know that I will transport her wherever she needs to go to get the proper ID should it come to that. It will definitely be a bit of a struggle for her...but she wants to vote! Accommodations can be made....even for folks who live in wide open west Texas. -
Texas Voter ID Law
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I see your point, but if they can't get to a license bureau to get a Texas ID, how do they get to the polls to vote? Seems if they can get to the polls to vote, they can get to a TX DL office for a photo ID? But, I see your point. The details, however, can definitely be worked out..... -
Folks, check out this auction item...way cool! I have one in my front yard right now...I had to buy it the regular way, but you can bid on one through the silent auction. Thanks to the one and only drex for donating this for our auction! Did you folks know that the great drex was once the AD staffer who sponsored the Cheer Squad? Great gig if you can get it! Thanks, drex...really appreciate the donation...let the bidding begin! I will post in this thread photos of additional auction items when/if they become available...if you wish to bid and cannot attend the game in person PM me...we can help you with that....

GOOD NEWS......Compliance has cleared our use of the Lance Dunbar football for our silent auction. So, let the bidding begin... AND, I am working with compliance and am hopeful to resolve the issue regarding the basketball soon...I am, at this point, hopeful that we will see the return of the basketball as well. Compliance and the AD are all working with us to try to make it happen. We are getting excellent response and help from everyone involved. Thanks to our compliance folks and to AD staffers for helping....

UMMMM...NO! But "A" for nice try.

A very historic event will begin this next Monday...the U.S. Supreme Court will begin three days of hearings on the constitutionality of ObamaCare. This will be greatness at the highest levels of our government and courts. It's the hottest ticket in DC these days with even Congressmen and Senators begging folks for tickets. Hard to get...harder than a Super Bowl ticket! There is MUCH at stake here, and the ruling that comes could reshape how the US Constitution is viewed and interpreted for years to come. It's the "mandates" part of the bill that the court will be reviewing NOT the constitutionality of a national health care plan...it's the mandates, folks...the mandates and the federal govt's right to require certain things of its citizens and its states. We should all watch this three days very very closely...it will have profound impact on all our lives and the lives of future generations to come...which ever way the ruling goes. We discuss lots of things here on GMG.Com, many of which are fun and full of interesting opinions one way or the other, but which, at the end of the day are only good discussions. BUT, this event is historic and meaningful for perhaps generations to come and for the way this great nation of ours is governed going forward. I would hate to be a Supreme Court justice right now and have the weight of this decision on my shoulders. I KNOW how I would rule, but glad I am not tasked with this decision. It is simply....so very important to this great nation of ours that I don't know if I could do it. I am grateful that we have men and women capable of making such decisions and I hope and pray for their strength and well being during this process. May God grant the justices wisdom and help them achieve a just and, in this case, a constitutionally correct decision. So very much rides on this decision.

OK, we'll order you a shirt...PM me and I'll let you know where you can mail the check...sorry that you can't make it. Appreciate the donation.....we will miss you!

UPDATE: We need to remove the T Mitch BB and the L Dunbar football from the silent auction bidding at this time...there are some NCAA compliance issues that we need to work through in order to use these items. The Athletic Dept. is working with me to try to have the items meet compliance guidelines in time for them to be utilized in the silent auction. But, for now...we cannot use the T. Mitch autographed BB or the Lance Dunbar autographed football. Sorry, but we do not want to do anything that might reflect poorly from a compliance standpoint on either a player or the athletic dept. or UNT...so, let's see what can be done between now and the game. There are other great auction items and more to come, so do not despair.....keep those bidding lines open and those checkbooks warm.....

Doors open at 10:00AM......game tip off should be no later than 11:30AM...game and half-time activities should take no more than an hour and a half...so we should be clearing the gym no later than 1PM to retire to Metzler's BBQ on Londonderry Lane in Denton for the after event gathering...and some beer and 'cue...bidding will continue at Metzler's for a short while...winning bids will be announced at Metzler's...one does not have to be present to win...just must be the winning high bidder. Hope this helps...would love to meet you!

I can simply not believe that I am agreeing with GL2Greatness...someone wake me up, but the above statements are 100% correct. What part of this makes Boone Pickens a bad guy? I doubt you will find anyone in Stillwater thinking he's a bad guy. He puts his money where his mouth is...unlike some we all know. I was part of UNT's insurance program that greenjoe talked about...it didn't work for UNT either and they abandoned it. My only surprise in the OSU thing was that the program was still being used...heck, if you are going to try that, start with 70+ year old men.....not young folks who will live forever and will see their term life premiums skyrocket as they age....just saying....older guys tend to die off faster than younger folks...I should know...

Check out the photo of the Tony Mitchell autographed ball we have for the auction in the Gallery.... Just a correction...the BB game benefits the UNT Cheer Squad...it's out flag football game that benefits the Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund...trying to get that corrected...the ball is for the Basketball event silent auction on March 31st. Pretty cool, huh? Let the bidding begin!

Manning to Denver
KRAM1 replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Is this really a good move by manning? I know how great it will be to have Manning working with Elway and vice versa, but let's look at Denver... 1) Set up for a run oriented offense at the moment 2) Porous offensive line (just what Manning needs with a bum neck) 3) No standout receivers 4) Open air stadium I don't know...I'm just asking, but seems to me that even Tennessee would have been a better fit...not to mention San Fran. But, it's his choice, right? Just would like to hear what some others think of this move... BTW...Tebow to Jacksonville???? I think that makes a great deal of sense for both Tebow and Jacksonville. -

KRAM1 replied to All About UNT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
We probably know the answer to that one without even asking..... -
I have asked if we might could get some photos and post here for folks who may not be able to make the game...will see what and when I might can get some to post. Actually...the congratulations goes to the Cheer Squad...the majority of the items (including the T Mitch BB and the Dunbar football) were obtained by the cheer squad members...yes, I secured a few of the items...and hopefully, will have a few more come game day....but hats off to the Cheer Squad for a great job here. If anyone wants to make a bid...and cannot attend in person on the 31st...just PM me...we can definitely work it out.
-
Now you ask...just after I took the rules out of my briefcase and left them at home, but I can assure you that we will be playing QUARTERS.....some of these guys couldn't last if we played 20-min. halves...even with free substitutions...Ha! Now...some of these guys could play 40-min halves without coming out....yep, book on it! But, to protect the innocent, we will play quarters.....glad to have you with us!

Is this racist or not ?
KRAM1 replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I think we can all probably agree with this last statemnet. Shouldn't that one be the last one for this thread? -

"The Current North Texas Helmet Is Pathetic Considering...
KRAM1 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Hmmmmmm, you may just have a point there...often like the misuse of "cheap" when one actually means "inexpensive". I'll try to remember that going forward...thanks. -
Does JJ need to go to March Madness next season?
KRAM1 replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Sometimes one just has to wonder in amazement........some amazing stuff here folks. But, really, hasn't this thread pretty much seen better days? Like UNT90 said, when it turns to posting on a message board about posting on another message board, it's time to turn on the Animal Planet I think....Hall of fame worthy maybe? -

So, what avatar name do you use on another forum?? Sounds like you might fit right in over there....... -
Draft held...player rosters are posted in the main GMG.BB Game thread. GO GREEN...GO WHITE...... Thanks to both coaches and to all who participated in the draft yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

"The Current North Texas Helmet Is Pathetic Considering...
KRAM1 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't disagree with that at all...not a fan of the grey helmet for OSU...the "real" OSU. Just wanted to point out that the High School sticker stuff belongs to that "other" OSU...Ohio State U. EDIT: And, I could pretty much care less what's on UNT's helmets....I just want to see "W's" in the won/loss column...they can play in whatever helmet they choose...just win, Mean Green! Seems most folks here think that cures all ills, so maybe it would work for "helmet discussion" in the off-season as well. You think? -
Dale's Sports show Sunday at 10:30pm on Channel 8 had Coach Mac on discussing his recent stroke and recovery...it was filmed at Apogee and was done with George Riba (is that the spelling?). REALLY great to see all the good pub for UNT these days. In spite of what some folks seem to think, really good things are happening at and for UNT these days. For me, it has never been a better time to be a member of the great Mean green nation...cannot recall a time, even in Coach Fry's days, where UNT was getting so much positive PR. Greatness, indeed!
