I would be sorry to see Johnny leave, but it's nice to see another UNT HC get interest from the "big boys". It seems all too often we hear that "This guy can't coach", "no one in their right mind would want JJ", "he gets out coached at every turn", etc., etc. Seems to me that all the guy does is win. It would be a shame to have T Mich, Jones, J. Williams, A. Williams, etc, etc. be coming back, UNT being talked about as a top 25 team and then head off to LSU. But, if this is JJ's dream job (as the Texas job was for Coach Aston) who could blame him for heading to Baton Rouge? Not me...I would just be unhappy for the great Mean Green Nation. It is a testament to UNT that UNT coaches are now being seen as top candidates for high level coaching positions around the nation. Seems the folks that actually know what they are talking about are taking notice of the good things that are happening at UNT these days. Here's hoping that we all see Johnny on the sidelines at the Super Pit coaching the Mean Green again next season.....

I have no clue...but several folks around these parts felt that several people owed Karen Aston an apology for some supposed slight that they dreamed up after a wild night of weed and drink or peyote or some other hallucinogenic...maybe it's Aston he should apologize to...you think? I, personally, don't want a bunch of "rumor mill" reporting...it gets bad enough here on GMG.Com...why would anyone want it to continue in the paper by Vito?

Constitution doesn't really come into play here at all. The Constitution's guarantee of free speech says nothing about stupidity. That's about the only thing the guy is guilty of here....stupid comment...very stupid, but the guy is known for that and the Marlins knew full well that they were getting a manager who runs his mouth. Every Time something happens these days people come out and want to fire someone...of course never them, but someone else. Private enterprises have far more latitude in these sort of things. Leave it up to the Marlins and their ticket buying fans to handle this...and they will. The free market tends to "vote" what they really want in these sort of things where it usually just boils down to someone getting their feelings hurt. Seems it is always someone who has no real skin in the game calling for someone else to be fired. If everyone was fired over every stupid thing they ever said or did in public lots of folks would be losing their jobs these days...even firefighters. On this one, I have to let the folks who really matter make the decision...the Marlins folks and their fans. Now, like others here...I doubt if I were a ML ball club that I would have this guy anywhere near my club...seems like a total idiot to me...but is being dumb a fireable offense in this case? Just my opinion.

Folks...if you are playing or refereeing in the GMG.Com BOWL IX FLAG FOOTBALL GAME...take a look at the rules before you come so it will be easier on everyone before and during the game. This is the kind of chatter that can pay recruiting dividends going forward. Just imagine what this could do after a successful season next year for recruiting and for the future of Mean green basketball...WOW...I would expect UNT to see bigger crowds and increased season ticket sales beginning this next season. Thank you Tony and all the other players and coaches for working hard to make this happen!

OK, so you say. Didn't think you'd join, but wanted to extend the invitation. It's an open one, so anytime you want to "come out and play" and not just on some media site, we'll be happy to have you. And, your "friends" list might even grow...who knows...seems worth the chance to me. Each game we seem to have some new players who "come out" and join the fun. PIERCE REID is in the game! We all recall Pierce for last year's game...the guy has hands and has some speed...so, look out P. Reid is BACK! Pierce has also agreed to provide some golf packages for the silent auction like he did last year. The golf packages were big hits and helped us raise a good bit of change for the scholarship...so thank you, Pierce for both playing and supporting our scholarship efforts once again. Wat...wat? Wat's to understand? Ha! I just invited you to come out to play in the GMG.Com Flag Football game....to let folks get to know the "nice guy" that you really are out from behind the avatar. Is that hard to understand? I doubt it. What do you say? want to "unmask" and come out to play flag football with a bunch of GMG.Com'ers and ex-UNT players? Every one is welcome and it's great fun. I see from the reaction to my first post that it must have hit pretty close to home for some folks...sort of a "if the shoe fits" thing I guess.....but, the invite to you is real and sincere.....will we have the pleasure of your company on the playing field at Apogee on the 21st?

I like this a good bit...ready for the Coaches caravan in May as well...sort of like Coach Aston last year. The part that is so good to hear is that the level of interest in the UNT position has grown in the recent past and there are several candidates who have contacted RV about the position already. That, with the list of folks RV obviously already had on his radar screen should bode well for the Mean Green's search. UNT IS a great place to coach and Denton is a great place to live, so those two together should make for some "good pickings" for the Mean Green. Seems obvious to me as well that Coach Aston was very positive about the support she received from RV and the Department while she was at UNT and appreciated the growing fan support for her program. That doesn't hurt the search process either. So, keeping my fingers crossed for a quick hire...but another great hire like Coach Aston....need to reach out to the recruits and current players ASAP!

OK, I can buy that staement...SO...why don't you sign up to play in this year's GMG.COM Flag Football game, come out to the game, have a great time and show a bunch of us that you are, indeed, that nice guy you say you are? This is really the reason I got involved in helping to stage both the GMG.Com Flag Football game (our 9th year) and the GMG.Com Basketball games (just completed our 2nd year). I wanted GMG.Com folks to actually get to know some of the folks they "pick on" while hiding behind their avatars here on GMG.Com. When they do, all the "fussin"' seems to take on a whole different tone and people get to realize that everyone is just a "regular" person with their own opinions and who support the Mean Green. Yes, I realize some will continue to be "cranky" and carry grudges, and even act very childish and actually confront people in public, etc., but most "man up" and realize that it's all opinions at the end of the day and opinions are just what they are...no big deal. So......if you think you can handle the "unmasking", we'd welcome your participation in this year's 9th Annual GMG.Com Flag Football game....April 21st at Apogee. What say you? Up for it?

I think it's great that he is doing so well AND that he seems to take pride in being a UNT alum. That's a win-win in my book. Don't watch the show, but might now knowing "Mark" is a a UNT alum.
