  1. Bingo! We have a winner!
  2. Wasn't that Buddy Holly in 1957? "Pretty Pretty Pretty , Peggy Sue...my Peggy Sue........"
  3. The only proper answer at this time to your original question is....YES!
  4. Agree...and the love is here! We few, the proud understand.....Coach Hedlund and his ladies have made the Mean green nation proud for a great number of years...maybe it has simply become EXPECTED of this group. Let's keep the cards and letters flowing folks...UNT has a powerhouse program....time for a ton more folks to step up and notice! Great post Dude!
  5. I have now officially removed the "all hat and no cattle" moniker from you, sir! GREATNESS! HOF worthy! So funny, but so appropriate as well.
  6. GREATNESS! The rise of UNT golf! Golf was once a very strong sport at UNT, and IT IS AGAIN! This is really great news. Well done guys! YOU ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!! So many good things happening at UNT these days...the time is NOW for UNT. WOW...two SBC titles in the last few days...UNT will be leaving the SunBelt for Conference USA on a HIGH NOTE indeed! I, for one, am VERY happy to see the athletic department and UNT placing resources and upgrading sports such as golf, tennis, track and field, etc. as well as football and basketball. Says something positive about the University as a whole and the Athletic Dept. and AD in particular. GREAT JOB guys!
  7. Now that's funny! She did not, but I hear a few folks are blaming it on a certain tailgate event.
  8. A gentleman never tells! But, remind me some time when we are in a more private setting...maybe over a beer...to tell you what I used to see when I was doing the skydiving thing on weekends in Missouri and would fly a certain path to the drop zone which took us over some college dorms in that path of the flight! That was some great dorm viewing I can tell you!
  9. Ever heard of the Galveston Plan? Check it out...might open a few eyes around here.....
  10. THAT is not at all funny.....I can imagine that we have a very anxious young man who just signed with a different coach...new coach comes in...has to have some agnst going on...and I can assure you the parents are a tad concerned as their son wants to play for UNT, is just about to graduate HS and BAM...new HC for his college team...some anxiety about that scholarship for sure...so, Mike...not funny! But I did give you a +1 for creativity and fast thinking......but I should -1 you (I won't) too for your lack of sensitivity! Ha! And here, all this time, I thought you were a real "touchy-feely girlie sort of guy"! OK, just kidding on that touchy-feely girlie thing.......
  11. Formalities...formalities, folks. It's a DONE DEAL...CONFERENCE USA here we come! When a very high placed source...VERY HIGH placed...tells you..."we will not be in that conference long (SunBelt) and that we will soon be playing the likes of Rice and Tulsa...then the next day the BOR authorizes our president to "review" conference membership and authorizes him to seek a change...should he desire to do so...IT'S OVER! The fat lady is warming up in the next room for her debut signature event....BUT, the formalities must take place...no way this vote happens without the cards being in place for the move. BOOK IT DANNO! Done, over, finished, complete...let the announcements start flowing! It's a great time to be GREEN! One has to thanks RV, Dr. Rawlins and the BOR for all their hard work in getting so many positive things going for UNT in recent times...it is definitely TIME and the Mean Green is ready! THE TIME IS NOW! Just sitting around doing nothing while all the other universities get into better conferences...I THINK NOT! Thanks RV, thanks Dr. Rawlins and thanks to all who helped make this all happen. GREATNESS for the Mean green nation. The time is NOW!
  12. Do not fret folks....that's the first formality...it's done! I was told personally by a VERY high placed source and a person who would DEFINITELY KNOW that it's happening...his quote was...and I quote "We won't be in that conference long (SunBelt), we'll be playing Rice, Tulsa, etc. soon". Good enough for me...this is a formality vote...first step in what should now be a pretty fast developing set of actions...stay tuned...it's all good.
  13. GROUND CONTROL...WE HAVE LIFT OFF! That was a great press conference...loved that he will be building this team around local players...hopefully, we'll no longer here that "local players don't want to play at UNT stuff any longer. HS coaches and past teammates in the room for the press conference. Guy showed a lot of poise and was brimming with excitement from what i could tell. Had to watch on the Mean Green Sports site in lieu of being present, but I think we have a home run in Tony Benford. just something about that guy and they way he said what he said that makes me think UNT is "good to go"! Yes, we all know the proof is in what happens on the court, but for DAY ONE I give it an A+. Loved the fact that the first thing he did when he got to town was to meet with the players...what, about 9:30PM last night i think he said....great idea...and he said it was his idea. Good to see President Rawlins on site as well.... OK, let's get it on...Good things are happening at UNT these days...NEXT UP...announcement that UNT is joining the new CUSA Conference.... WELCOME COACH BENFORD. Thank you RV and thank you President Rawlins....some great new HC hires going on at UNT these days....
  14. So, now the gov. just flat out robs people of their own money? Nice, Silver. Way to go Comrade. Why do liberals hate successful people so much? They always want someone else to pay and never think anything is fair unless someone else does the paying more? Let's see, liberals complain that low income folks don't have equal access to higher education...yet when same low income folks end up getting a college degree and making a really nice income...the same liberals complain that these previously low income folks who have "pulled themseleves up" and actually worked for a living should pay more taxes....why? Because they earn more than some liberals do...You never see this wage and income jealously from conservatives...it's always the liberals who play this class warfare card...that's when they aren't playing the race card...sometimes they play both at the same time. Just has never computed to me why some folks are so jealous of success. So, I guess it's only the libs who get to determine "fairness" in life...go figure. Sorry, Silver...just not buying that line of "stuff". But, you are consistent in your beliefs, so I'll give you that...no flip flopping by the great Silver. Stay strong....
  15. Silver...please explain. I really have no idea what you are talking about here. Why means testing with regard to SS? I already recommended removing the wage max cap...that IS a tax increase for the higher income folks. And....I am not surprised that you are playing the class warfare card.
  16. Way to try to make a mountain out of a molehill. These things happen fast...really fast when it comes down to the final stages...the information was not sent out by UNT to the folks, but by CBS sports, ESPN, etc. You simply cannot keep this stuff private...players were scattered all over the place...hopefully many were in class qwhen this stuff broke. Everyone wants to feel "entitled" and trys to claim they are being "disrespected" these days...good grief...... This sense of "entitlement" is getting a bit old!
  17. Did anyone else notice the half-page "ad" open letter format from JJ to the fans and staff at UNT in the April 24th Denton-Record Chronicle? I thought it was great and really a class act on JJ's part to thank RV, the Athletic Dept. staff and the FANS for all their support over the last 11 years. Really great to see this. JJ put this program back on the map and built a foundation that should propel it to even greater things in the coming years. Without JJ and what he accomplished here, UNT would not be welcoming a Tony Benford as its new head coach today. Thanks JJ, and the Mean Green Nation wish you nothing but success in Baton Rouge.....GEAUX TIGERS!
  18. DARN WORK! Would love to be there for the press conference, but this work thing keeps getting in the way. Totally understand that these things have to be arranged around people's schedules who are much more important than me and my work schedule...so, I'll have to miss, but I will definitely be there in spirit and hope someone will post a bit about how it goes. PACK the place tomorrow Mean Green Nation...let's welcome Coach Benford in a BIG way!
  19. Pretty happy with this hire. I think UNT is really going after some quality coaches. Good luck Coach Benford and WELCOME to the Mean Green Nation. cannot wait to welcome you aboard in person soon. Hey, if you want to know who the "usual suspects" are that will question and complain about your every move just send me a PM. OK, that's a joke folks...and should not be considered blasphemy. We are all GREEN now...and everyone...everyone...will be behind you and doing all they can to help you and YOUR team be successful! You are going to love this town and these players and this university...BOOK IT!
  20. Ahhhhh, but I speak of the accounting for the different two sections...there is, indeed, accounting just not actual money. So, my point stands as written. Congress, the GAO, etc. deals with this stuff as if there were indeed actual funds by calculating the amounts...hypothetical that they may be...in the two "funds". I think we all understand that there are not actual funds with actual "saved" dollars in them. Are you kidding me? let Congress see a dollar sitting around somewhere and they will spend $5.00! POINT HERE IS...a simple solution to help fix Social Security...at least the "retirement" part of it...and again, Social Security was NEVER intended to be a retirement vehicle...just thought I'd mention that in case you wanted to go off on that tangent as well. Maybe someday we can stay on topic and discuss the "solutions" proposed.
  21. ANYONE have a contact with the SMU folks that I might could work with on this? I think it's actaully a pretty good idea!
  22. Nope...hard to win a round of golf for 4 at a great Country Club with a $15 bid! Ha! Grant, thanks for participating and placing the bid...you helped raise funds with you bid whether you won or not. Just stopping by and being part of the event is to your credit, Sir!
  23. INDEED! WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS....NOW!
  24. This...a hundred times this. I really think only in the Mean Green Nation will people start complaining about something that has no immediate effect on them, and for which they will be celebrating wildly should the "something" actually come to pass. When the Mean Green play in the NO Bowl or "whatever" Bowl this year, I want to see who finds something to complain about at that time. As Tasty indicated...never underestimate the Mean Green Nation's ability to complain. It is the one thing we can all count on as a fact! Too funny. The Mean Green playing in the NO Bowl with an 11:00AM, or 8:00AM or 6PM or 7PM kick-off is GREATNESS and a cause for celebration....it has been too long!
  25. For the Social Security System to run out of funds by 2033 is really ridiculous. Now, let me say that I am talking about solutions to the "retirement" fund here...not the disability and entitlement fund portion of Social Security...that is a much bigger mess. But, seems to me to be a very simple solution to the "retirement" part...here goes: 1) Eliminate the wage/earnings cap on "contributions" to the fund through payrolls, and 2) Raise the age to receive benefits...raise the "early" retirement age to 65 1/2 and the full retirement age to 70. That should work just fine.....now, does anyone in Congress or the White House have the guts to do it? I seriously doubt it. These ideas come from a serious fiscal conservative who is never in favor of raising taxes (and yes, this pretty much includes a tax increase for some), but it's time to stop "kicking the can down the road" and get some work done ASAP that will actually help. Just my thoughts...and, for some of you..."NO" I am not trying to starve grandma and grandad and I do not hate old people. Just saying it before someone comes on here and accuses me of all sorts of "stuff". The problem is that no one from the White House down (especially not in the White House) has the "you know whats" to take this on and really find a solution. OK, that's all.....
