  1. Nope, sorry, Deep...not talking about you at all. I know who you are and I know you are a "Mean Green Club member and a Club level patron". And, if you will re-read my post you will see that I am not directing my comment to any one particular person...even said so. The comment was made in general to folks who like to complain about everything...big and small...they seem to think is wrong with the Mean Green, the Mean green staffers and coaches and UNT in general, yet they sit back on their very closed wallets, pocketbooks, credit cards and checkbooks and do nothing to help support the program! They can and do, however, come up with some very creative reasoning as to WHY they don't support the programs with even any level of donation.
  2. Good God Almighty!
  3. Some folks just try too hard to find something wrong with just about everything the Mean Green and UNT does these days...then they just keep burying themselves deeper and deeper in their rationalizations as they probably cannot figure out how to get out of the hole they keep digging deeper and deeper for themselves with all their negativity. Good gosh. And while folks are at it...it would sure be nice if they at least joined the Mean green Club so they would have a little dog in this hunt...just sayin...not pointing fingers at anyone mind you...just a general statement.
  4. Indeed...is it not his father's helmet? This really gets to the point of being inane....the Dept. puts a nice ad in the North Texan and people complain.... they don't put an ad in and people complain. Some folks just really do need to "get a life" and and instead of looking for "what's wrong" with UNT and the Mean Green all the time, find what's right with the situation. This is really a pretty nice layout in my opinion. Zac is obviously proud of his Dad and his play with the Redskins of the NFL. I would be too if my Dad had played in the NFL, and I'd be excited that I got the opportunity to point that out...along with being proud to me a member of the Mean Green...which the ad also conveys. It is, however, the off-season, so the troops are a tad restless...football season cannot get here fast enough.
  5. BUT, BUT I thought local kids wouldn't commit to UNT????/ Ha! just kidding...this is a solid commitment from a Guyer player. Good news and shows the Mean Green coaching staff is indeed working the local schools and making inroads with same. Thanks for posting this...made my day here in Mean Green land!
  6. Greatness...I am happy to do all I can to help refer.....great looking web site as well. GO TROY...a member of the Great Mean green nation. I hope the Mean green nation can help get the word out to HS Coaches they know and to players HS and Jr. High who could benefit from Troy's instruction. Let's give Troy a hand.
  7. I voted in the primary and have voted in our local runoff...did not have my voter registration card with me either time...absolutely no problem in getting to vote...showed my driver's license and confirmed my current address...no brainer.
  8. Nice stuff...just a perk for being in attendance and supporting the Mean Green at these events. It's really too bad that some folks just cannot attend. I know I have had to miss some of these events from time to time and have missed out on some of these perks myself. But, they are really cool stuff for the ones who can attend and support the event. You just never know when "stuff" will be passed out or what it might be....
  9. Seems to me that the jury got this one correct...as the vast majority of juries seem to do. Let the justice system run its course folks....may this scum rot in jail.
  10. Excellent....glad to welcome him back to the Mean green. This is truly very good news. Let's all hope it works out...lots of talent here and lots of tackles for the Mean Green. Great kid and from what i hear, great family as well...the Mean Green can use all of that combination it can get. Good news, very good news!
  11. So, there is finally a way that the NCAA cannot "look the other way" on violations and problems with the "big boy" programs. GREATNESS!
  12. May God grant you peace, Rick. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
  13. Yes, and while it does not give the artist a very nice cut of revenue, it does pay the artist something. Which, of course, is much better than having the song stolen.
  14. Excellent response from David Lowrey to Ms White's acknowledgement of her theft...and that's exactly what it is...theft. How anyone can even remotely justify ripping off artists is beyond me. Where I work we do a lot of IP (Intellectual Property) work and have written one of the most quoted papers on this subject in the US (and the world). It was written in 2007 and is entitled "The True Cost of Sound Recording Piracy to the U.S. Economy". You can find a link to it on our website at www.ipi.org if you care to look it up. In 2007 it was determined that the US economy loses $12.5 billion annually due to piracy of sound recordings (still think stealing a song off the Internet is small potatoes?) As a result of the piracy the sound recording industry loses 71,060 jobs and of this amount (bear in mind this was in 2007) 26,870 jobs WOULD have been added to the economy without the piracy. Because of piracy US workers lose $2.7 billion in earnings annually. As a consequence of piracy in sound recordings state and local governments lose a min. of $422 million in tax revenues annually...and $291 million is lost in personal income taxes from the artists and others and $131 million is lost in corp. income and production taxes. (Take that Warren Buffett when you want rich folks to pay more...maybe you should focus on the music pirates and get all those new taxes!). So, think about all this when you next think it is OK to STEAL songs from the Internet through whatever means possible....you are as much a criminal as any other thief who steals others property...justify it if you will, but it's illegal and you are a thief if you do it.....fun stuff facts are, right? Anyone care to look in the mirror...any of my more liberal friends yelling and screaming for higher corp. and rich people taxes ever download a a song without paying for it? Hmmmmmmmm...and, you conservative types who support free enterprise and lower taxes...ever steal a song????? Both you folks are part of a very big problem and are guilty of theft. Might want to think about that going forward. Truth hurts, huh?????
  15. A similarity to the Zimmerman situation perhaps? Amazing how reality sheds light on things the press and public seldom see....trials and in depth investigations can be interesting things and lead to interesting outcomes for the press and public when the real facts and details start emerging. That's a good reason to let the courts do their thing BEFORE getting all up and arms and doing, saying or printing stupid things....just sayin....
  16. Got to hope that Sandusky and all like him (male or female) gets exactly what he deserves. This is terrible and I simply cannot imagine that it took place over such a long period of time....sad...
  17. Personally, I am glad to see San Antonio get a D-1 college football team and I wish UTSA luck (except, of course, when it plays the Mean Green). It will be a good thing for San Antonio and give UNT a nice travel spot down the road. I have no problems with whatever competition this might bring to UNT as far as recruiting goes, fan loyalty or anything else. The folks that moan about UTSA "passing UNT by" or doing this or that better or with more fanfare than UNT are just spewing sour grapes. This is good for UNT and good for San Antonio and for Texas. Bring 'em on...I'll enjoy seeing the Mean green play and beat a "local" team for a change.
  18. I think the same thing could be siad about when Coach Aston departed so quickly...I know, i know...hwer dream job, but still.....looks to me like Coach Petersen is a "keeper" as well if the early returns are any incication. To me, it looks like UNT hasd a fine new set of BB head coaches. Pretty darn excited about the season to come...both men's and women's BB.
  19. Well, I get where you are coming from UNT90 and I don't totally disagree, just don't see the reason for the angst. Still time to sign a QB and UNT has 4 QB's on the roster at this time...1 senior (Dodson), 2 Jrs (Thompson and Osborn) and 1 soph (McNulty). I'm good with that...and think there is plenty of time to pick up a QB for the future. I also understand your "concerns" regarding injury (as UNT has had a bit of that with QB's in recent history), but I just don't think you go into the season "assuming" your QB goes down for any length of time with an injury. Where I think UNT needs to concentrate the immediate on is D-Line and pass rushers and D-backs along with the O-line. Shore those up and you, even with your bum knees (UNT90), could play QB for UNT! :-) I also understand where Harry is coming from and everyone who feels QB is a "problem area" for the Mean green. I just don't happen to agree going into the 2012-13 season. Next year...well, we'll see what happens this year and then I might feel entirely differently. I still think Coach Mac is no body's fool when it comes to knowing what position he needs to fill on his roster, and feel it will be handled.
  20. Well, PLUMM, a nice new stadium with a lot of taxpayer buy-in and taxpayer obligations. Like it or not that Texas Stadium is in Arlington, there public/private sports arena deals are often great deals...for the teams and the team owners. While I support professional sports teams and think they do "add" to a city's tax base over time (in many different ways), I am not a fan of using public money in support of rich guys building new arenas and stadiums when they could easily afford it on their own...along with their team. By the way...just a question...why doesn't the NFL develop a fund that would support new stadium construction? That would seem beneficial to the league as a whole...BUT, I guess why do it when you can get the local taxpayer to cough up the funds and have the taxpayer on the hook financially, right? And, before one posts...no, I am not a big fan of tax incentives to private industry and businesses as a whole...matter of principle...using taxpayer funds for the benefit of private business seem odd to em, and I cannot find many studies that actually reflect that it turns out, in the long run to be THAT good of a deal for the taxpayer...contrary to what the Chamber of Commerce of the City leaders who support the incentives might tell you. My Libertarian leanings just have a problem with the whole concept.
  21. WOW...not bad at all with 900 campers in six camps...decent area of camp locations as well. I sure hope the staff found some gems in these camps and made some contacts with coaches in the areas that will begin to pay dividends for the Mean Green. Love the idea of the Friday Night Lights Camp on July 27th from 5 to 9PM as well. If it's open to the public I might just try to go and check it out as I am beginning to need me an APOGEE fix ASAP! Might find a way to turn it into an event of sorts...who knows. We'll have to see as the date draws closer. But, good to see that 900 kids showed up for the Mean Green camps this year! Future is looking better all the time for the great Mean green nation. Now, let's see what comes form all this work by Coach Mac and Company.
  22. Well, I'm wondering why so much angst over this subject in the first place. I see UNT with a pretty decent situation at QB right now and really see no reason to panic over signing another QB. Seems UNT has some more than adequate QB's on the roster right now with several years of eligibility remaining. Now, does that mean UNT should not try to sign a quality QB to groom for the future, of course not, but I see no reason to get all bothered by the fact that Burglund is heading to JuCo-land. Still, in my opinion, plenty of time to sign another QB for the future...I am "good to go" with the current roster of QB's. I think QB is, by far, not the position of need or worry for the next couple of years. Just me.
  23. Great stuff from bono. Thanks for taking the time...what you said about Mitchell is EXACTLY what many of the Mean green faithful were commenting on last season...turnovers, fouls and poor footwork. Good to see the emphasis already starting in those areas from Coach B. I think we are all pretty darn excited about the upcoming BB season...I have a sense that as many or even more GMG.Com folks are pumped about BB as FB this time around. Pretty exciting indeed!
  24. Well, I like having Tulane in the Conference. New Orleans, right? Let's see...road trip to Monroe or New Orleans????? Hmmmmmm...just sayin....
