Went by this last weekend and they had some of the metal spans sitting by and seemingly being prepared for installation. I do, however, wonder if it will be ready for the first home game? It's not that the folks working on it could not have it completed in time, but rather will all the various spans and parts be ready in time for installation? If not in time for the first game, it will indeed be up and ready during this season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all parties can get this done in time for that first kick-off. GREAT location for the bridge!

AMEN, Brother! Very well said...could not agree more!

Several books written on this topic. Lots of speculation as to what would have happened had the South won the Civil War. One theory had Texas once again becoming a separate nation and the country re-uniting as one to fight the axis in WWII. So, there would have been three nations until the early 40's when the various nations would once more form "a more perfect union". Nothing wrong with such historical "play"...I did not read what Nugent had to say...just pointing out that such speculation has even found it's way into recognized books and historical fiction on numerous occasions.

Definitely agree with you on that one...Go Eli!!!!!

Agree here...100%. But, isn't this almost always the case with almost everything these days? Sad, but true.

UTSA Season Ticket Sales Well Ahead Of Last Year
KRAM1 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
You don't need to go into the garden...just go back to that other board where you will feel much more at home. EDIT...better add this edit before you get all mad...just having a bit of fun with you....that's all. It's too easy. -
That's pretty darn nice! Love the UNT pic!

Really pleased to see this. many of these AAU basketball programs are nothing but "money machines" for the guys who run them and do a lot of disservice to basketball, the kids who participate and their families. More needs to be done to crack down on this crap!

You make an excellent point.

Pretty good summary here of the attitude many so-called "fans" of the Mean green have and a prime example of why UNT struggles so much to fill seats and raise funds...this "what's in it for me" attitude is so hard to counter...UNT fans who give $125 want $250 worth of tangible benefits it seems, and seem to always be jealous of those who give more and thus get a higher level of "benefit" as fans do all over the college sports world....why not be glad that some folks can and do give more...thank them for their support and be happy with what you can do yourself? I know Silver contributes and shows up at the football games...so, let's not dump on Silver here...I'm not directing this at Silver, but rather at the attitude expressed in the above comments which seem to prevail all across the UNT universe.

Does show that UNT is recruiting and offering some high quality kids...i think this is what we all, as Mean green fans, want to see. Will UNT win 'em all against schools like Florida State...nope...not right now anyway, but you have to offer and you have to recruit this type of kid IF you want to get some to sign with the Mean green. Good job Coach mac and Company...keep the efforts up. UNT had to start recruiting these kids and they have...will win some, lose many, but UNT is "in the game"....nice! -
UTSA Season Ticket Sales Well Ahead Of Last Year
KRAM1 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, that is pretty much the question of the day. I am very pleased for UTSA...great job. San Antonio is a pretty large metroplex without any other D-1 program and it has many businesses that have shown a willingness to support this program and buy tickets which certainly helps. They seem to have hired a professional sales staff to help as well...at what cost? Who knows? But, the results are rather impressive and I am happy for them...will help the conference. But, what UTSA does or doesn't do does not help (or hurt) UNT. The UNT fan base, local community and business owners need to look in the mirror for the answer to that one. Even here on GMG.Com (and other fan sites) we have "fans" who do not purchase season tickets even though they live in the DFW area, and who make up any number of excuses as to why not....I got an example of the love for UNT recently that I'll share here as it is just another example of the attitude of many of those who claim to "bleed green". We have a program...recently expanded...through the UNT Alumni Association that we call the Alumni Ambassadors. It's a group of Alumni Association members and previous board members who want to stay (or become) involved with the work of the Alumni Association. We seek new members on an on-going basis (if you are interested...send me a PM for more details). Well, we hear from an alum who lives out of state (we have Ambassadors in several states) and who wants to volunteer because she (and I quote here) "Bleeds Green"! Great...perfect candidate...or so I thought. Well, the basic requirement to Ambassador membership is the one at least be a member of the UNT Alumni Association ($40 annulaly or $500 lifetime). This lady is not an Alumni Association member and would not join in order to be an Ambassador...all the while she and her husband donate to FOUR other universities! Said she couldn't afford the $40...really? And you currently donate to FOUR other universities, are employed full-time as his the husband and "Bleed Green"! Really? I run into this attitude constantly in my volunteer efforts for UNT's Alumni Association, Mean Green Club, my department and with the other various projects I help with (GMG.Com football and basketball games, etc.) on a regular basis. UNT grads and fans love to find what's wrong with UNT (and they are real happy to constantly tell the world what's wrong with UNT...as if that does any good at all) and use that as their personal excuse or grudge (man, can some UNT "fans" hold grudges...wow!) for not donating, not buying season tickets, not joining the Alumni Association, not joining the Mean green Club etc., etc. It's the "what's in it for me" attitude and "someone else should do it" attitude that seems so prevailing with UNT folks. I read...on various websites...complaint after complaint about everything from the quality of staffers, the football/basketball schedules, the times events are scheduled, the time games are scheduled, what is or is not scheduled and where, the fact that coaches ask the faithful to do more in trying to get fans to "buy in", and on and on to ad nauseum. If we...as UNT fans...want things to change for the better it's time to start being part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Think about it...has all the complaining and finger pointing done any good...other than to make one and those of a like mind feel secure in their bitterness....or would being positive and helping folks see the greatness that is the Mean green, and why they SHOULD support the program rather than why they should not bring about more positive results? It's up to each one of us to answer that question for ourselves...part of the solution or part of the problem...your choice. I've made mine some time ago. -
Well, following a trend, the entire University of Oklahoma campus went smoke free as of this last Sunday (July 1, 2012). Originally it was planned to have two areas on campus where smoking would be allowed, but the law was signed making the entire campus smoke free. Looks like UNT is following a trend that is spreading widely on college campuses these days.

Well, FFR's view is a bit premature...the SC ruled that the mandate is not valid under the Commerce Clause as the O administration insisted it was, BUT that the mandate MIGHT could survive as a TAX! Just what the libs love...another TAX! I can see Obama, Reid and Pelosi salivating now at the prospect of a new tax...but, it was a messy ruling full of technical and legal "stuff" that might take a while to sort out...sort of "kicking the can down the road" by the SC. So, the SC "wags its finger" at Obama with the "Commerce Clause" thing, but gives him and his allies an out if they want to make it a tax...or try to do so. You may recall that O and his group said adamantly over and over and over again that the mandate was NOT A TAX! Let's see how he flip flops on that with the speed of light and claims victory and works quickly to make it a tax!!!! Stand by..the fat lady hasn't started to sing as yet, and this really has not solved much it looks like with the early read on things....seems just as messy now as it was before the ruling. Fun times ahead....

Just waiting for some of the "usual suspects" to find something to complain about regarding this site...you know, how UNT "dropped the ball" on something once again...something really really important like the shirt a guy is wearing on an ad in a university magazine, or the football helmet displayed in some news cast...you know, really really critical things like that. Waiting...10...9...8...7...6.... For the record...I'm with Harry here...cool site indeed!

UNT law school
KRAM1 replied to wardly's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Well, this is indeed a tad troubling for the UNT Law School any way you want to slice it. Does it kill the UNT Law School...nope. TAMU has said there is room for both (nice of them, huh?) and that they will be specializing in some fairly narrow areas such as intellectual property law, etc. So, still a place for UNT in the landscape, but it does throw a "monkey wrench" into the idea that UNT will have the only public Law School in the North Texas region. Might just be some re-thinking going on in Mean Green land. But, at this point...it's too early to tell what the outcome of this will be for UNT. However, at this point...I'm not a fan of what TAMU is doing here and think it smells a tad rotten. Boo TAMU!!!! BOO! -
Welcome to the Mean green Nation! WOW...another local kid wants to stay near home and play for the Mean Green! Maybe that old line about local kids NEVER giving the Mean Green serious consideration will finally die away. Something good must be going on at UNT these days to land these local guys. GREATNESS! I am really happy to see this...lots of local family and friends to help fill Apogee as well with these local guys. Way to go Coach Mac and Company...keep 'em coming. And, now hang on to all of them and get those names on the dotted line! EDIT...just corrected a word error...that's all...didn't want the Grammar Police calling! ha!

How can you know that with the 100% certainty you seem to be implying? Have you spoken with all the B-12 AD's recently and reviewed all their various ad pages? Just wondering how you can be so definitive with your statement?
