So why go to Marquette this July and leave in the same month? I am thinking something is fishy....but, I'll let Benford and Co. make these decisions and I'll trust them.

So, if this kid is so solid, why has he gone from OU to Juco to Margette to nowhere???? Is he a "problem" looking for a home? Just asking.

Work is slow today
KRAM1 replied to golfingomez's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
You seem to have several "slow days at work"...so what kind of work do you do? -
I could do this early Saturday morning on the 28th. I am committed Saturday afternoon starting at 1PM, but up until about noon this Saturday I am good to go.....I am going the the Mean Green Volunteer Rep banquet on July 25th, so I could arrange to pick up a stack of posters...and I live near the Loop 288 area, so I could hit the folks in the center across from the Mall if that would help...like Moo-Ya's, Five Guys, etc., etc. If you are up for this PM me and we can arrange a "meet" to hand out posters for delivery...anyone else available for the 28th and a little Mean Green Volunteer work?

Sort of like many Mean Green "fans" and UNT Alumni these days.

I'm up for the Saturday poster distribution day...count me in...hopefully on a Saturday when I am available and in town...so, who will coordinate the day, pick up the posters and distribute them? And, who will map out the areas each person is to cover? I'll help...just let me know where and when...and, I'll help coordinate as well. Who can lead the troops in this one? Emmitt perhaps? Are you up for another go? Great ideas all, and would really be helpful for the program...it's things like this that we can do to help spread the word. With the very limited staff and resources that UNT has, anything I can do I am willing. It's all for a great program, and it's MY program...mine because I am part, and proudly so, of the great Mean Green Nation. Thanks for taking the lead in this one Emmitt. Well done, Sir! Or should I say...SARGE!

I don't think I'd disagree with your response here much at all...pretty darn well done, Sir!

Yawn...polls coming out in July long before the first games are played really don't get me very excited...one way or the other. Sure, I'd like to see UNT ranked #1 in the 'Belt, but as was said in a different manner earlier...it's not where "they" predict you to finish before the season starts, but rather where one actually finishes when all is said and done. Bulletin board fodder at its best here folks...this looks like an early season "gift" to Coach Mac and Co. to me.

My guess, the guy doesn't go to HS football games either. And, if he did, he'd have some petty complaint about that as well...and several excuses (because that's just what they are) for not going so he cvan justify it in his own mind. If that's his view, so be it. Obviously doesn't get around much if he wondered why you had to make a donation to sit on the 50 yard line. But, as you say, that can be said for many Dentonites as well as this guy. I don't find that attitude understandable at all. But, if you do, so be it.

Good idea...want to be our first volunteer, Silver?

Emmitt...GREATNESS! Volunteering because you love to help out something you believe in is indeed...God's work! You have my appreciation and respect for doing this...thanks so much. Great idea. It would be a tad interesting to know who said "no"...and perhaps why? Not to boycott them, but to hopefully find out why and see if we can't change their minds...or maybe it was a business that felt such "decor" would be inappropriate.....who knows. But, I am sure you got a lot more saying "yes" than no! Great stuff Emmitt.....THANK YOU!

Or........sign up and attend the OKTOBERFEST BEER TASTING EVENT set for Sept. 15th at the Alumni Pavilion and you can use the bridge if you want to park at Fouts....the walk back over after the event might be a memorable one as well....Ha!

And there you have it...and some folks were giving SMU credit for doing such a better job in recruiting that the Mean Green. Too bad for SMU, but really, it's only what goes on with the Mean Green that concerns me. I don't follow SMU and I don't donate to SMU. I follow and donate to the Mean Green.

UNT gets commitment from 6-10 Brazilian center Arthur Casimiro
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Wow...talk about "under the radar" recruiting! Hopefully this big guy can develop for a year in California and then really have a big role for the Mean Green. Looks like UNT is getting on some radar screens as far as a "want to" place to play. Have to give T Mitch some credit there as he seems to be a PR draw...always great to see, and will help in recruiting. Good job guys...keep it up! BB season is going to be fun for years to come with the Mean Green. The Pit will be the "place to be". I hope the students are paying attention as well.- 6 replies

I just love it when someone starts out with "with all due respect"....you know you are about to get slammed...just to remind everyone...that "joke" of a game raised a couple of thousand dollars for the atghletic department.
-
Hey...and they could use Mean Green Club priority points as a determining factor as to who gets to purchase tickets. Some "value added" for long-time donors and ticket buyers. But, why not use the Super Pit? Is there a conflict? It could, if promoted properly and early enough, see a rather large turnout..... And, UNT90...love the idea of holding the GMG.Com Basketball game on the same date and at the same venue! Who can help me make that happen this year????

Why we donate and how to sell it to others
KRAM1 replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
It's not necessarily "what" is said or what is the disagreement, but rather "how" it is said that differentiates. When the "how" is often full of personal vendettas and when you are seen as ignorant and called names for simply disagreeing then that becomes the issue. It's the folks who carry grudges and make everything personal that seem to be the defining difference between the various philosophies reflected on the two boards. I agree 100% with GrandGreen in that UNT needs more fans and more supporters and more donors...of all kinds. We, who are the fans, supporters and donors should do what we can to make it a positive experience in supporting the Mean green and give others reasons to support the program, not reasons why they should not....seems the more positive and successful tact to me at least. -
Best of luck to Riley at A&M and to Todd Dodge at Marble Falls. Riley played his heart out for the Mean green and Coach Dodge was the embodiment of class after his dismissal. How many ex-coaches would have shown up in the stands after they were let go to watch their kid play? Good luck to both. I do wonder how Todd Dodge will like having an Aggie in the family! Ha...could be interesting.
