  1. I got to meet and say hello to Brian last year here on the UNT Campus at the last Alumni Awards Dinner. The Alumni Association presented Brian with an Alumni Achievement Award. It was great seeing him and having him be part of our Alumni Awards dinner and presentation. Great guy! Yep...would love to have seen him in a Cowboy uniform this season...he would have made a super addition to the Cowboy team and organization.
  2. Didn't see a thing about Waters in the link provided.
  3. Come now, Mike. You know perfectly well what I meant. I doubt anyone disagrees that penn sate got what it deserved and might have even deserved more...you know that the kids playing that game Saturday are not the ones who caused the mess, yet they will definitely pay the price.
  4. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other...just commenting on the current young kicker and the support they drew. Lose or win....whatever floats your boat. I'm sure they will feel the sanctions for years to come. The "school" deserves what it gets...the folks in no way involved...well, they will be the ones who suffer because Papa Joe and others wouldn't do the right thing the very instant they had any idea this crap was happening! But, as is often the case, the innocent actually pay the price for the crap other people pull in college athletics these days.
  5. Felt really sorry for that young kicker. He...nor any member of that team...had anything to do with the problems at Penn state. Did anyone else also notice the support in the stands given the team Saturday? I wonder how many Penn State fans were running around complaining about stuff that doesn't really matter in the overall scheme of things Saturday? Not a Penn State fan...don't much care either way, but loved the fan support they provided for the kids playing and really felt bad for their young kicker. That's all. Edit: Had to correct the spelling of a word before the grammar Nazis got to me! Ha!
  6. WOW...did you guys get to see the MEAN GREEN BUS that a couple of super Mean Green fans re-did? Old school bus that has been completely redone and outfitted in Mean Green green...even the running lights on the top of the cab are eagle heads! This thing is greatness...workmanship is fantastic and it's a great attention getter for the Mean green Nation. here's hoping that bus will be parked in a great spot each and every game and around the area from time to time in support of the Mean Green. All that work took hours upon hours and took a lot of cash as well I am most certain. All in support of the Mean green. Folks, at the next home game, stop by and say hello and thanks to these guys for all their hard work and support for the Mean green. Best darn tailgate bus in the nation...thanks guys for all you do to support the Mean Green! GREATNESS...sheer GREATNESS! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!
  7. Well, I enjoyed both bands at halftime...actually stayed to watch. Both are very different sort of bands and each has something to offer. As usual, the Green Brigade can outplay anyone...I liked the pageantry and "up beat-ness" of the Ocean of Soul and actually thought the announcer added to the fun of watching the Ocean of Soul. But, they are no match musically for the Green Brigade...they were even out of step during most of their marching...but loved the drum majors and the spirit that band put into their presentation. Drum line for the Green Brigade sounded great.... I am wondering if the size of the Green Brigade does anything to dampen the type of show Silver would like to see it preform? Would it be tad more agile and able to do more from a pageantry and exciting movement standpoint if it were a tad smaller? Lots of pieces just sit in place with the Green Brigade. Having never played in a marching band, I wonder if "size matters"? No pun intended.
  8. Lots of green Saturday at Apogee...let's stay with green...students are finally wearing green...let's not confuse them! ha! Green Out Game sounds great!!!!! Love the idea of anything like this...students did great saturday. A tad disappointed in the Alumni side crowd....but 22,000+ for TSU...not too bad!
  9. We are having this discussion because some one who stands and blocks views brought it up by criticizing those who have learned to respect others around them by not standing the entire game...we stand when it's appropriate to stand and cheer...but, what some folks forget is that WE are there....we pay as well...so have as much "rights" as anyone else with a ticket. I personally don't care what you do...if you want to stand great! It's wasn't those who might sit more than YOU would like who started this thread I remind you...so, "full of themselves" is a fair description....telling others how they should act at a football game is pretty "full of oneself". Again...do as you wish...block as many views as you want while you stand for every tv time out if you wish...but stop the criticism...no one here came on with a rant about folks who stand...seems it was one who has learned very little common courtesy that started this thread...just saying...don't want this discussion...don't start it. That simple. By the way...buying tickets on the front rows and standing does indeed block views...don't want to block views...move...lots of empty eats last evening...would have been the courteous thing to do and you could still stand...but........I, myself, moved a row or two and a seat or two last evening because someone who thought they were the only person in the stadium chose to stand most the game it seemed...didn't call the security folks...didn't ask the three guys to sit...just moved. AND...then...didn't go start a thread on GMG.com about it either. Bottom line for me...I had a great time...I yelled, I cheered, i got mad at the refs a couple of times, I stood, I sat...and never once felt I needed to tell anyone else how to enjoy a football game. When you find the law book regarding how one must watch a football game...please pass it along. And, if you support UNT for as many years as some of us have...I hope you keep these posts of yours and read them back in about 30 years. Just another 'sign of the times" I guess. Next time, go find some folks who were not at the game and make sure they actually get to the game and you can "school" them on how to cheer before they buy a ticket. Some of us have probably been buying tickets and going to UNT games loner than you have been alive.....I think we have found our own ways to support the team and enjoy the game. And, even see the field!
  10. Really getting a bit tired of people telling me how I should and should not enjoy a UNT home or away football game. Bottom line...I had a great time...as I always do at Mean Green Games and I don't go there looking for something to complain about before or after the game. Especially not to complain about how folks like to watch the game after they actually buy tickets and get their rear ends into the stadium. Saw several fans on the Alumni side so full of themselves that they stood near the front rows in the bowl for most of all the game while blocking the view of all those behind them...an sure those standing had a great time...not sure about the folks behind them....whatever floats your boat, but there is no right or wrong way to enjoy a football game...get over yourself and how about appreciating those who show up...lots of empty seats on both the student and alumni side last night.
  11. Don't know what else Coach Mac can do, off the playing field that is, to get UNT students involved and into the habit of supporting the team. The guy has been everywhere on campus, been to student events and rallies, written letters, etc., etc. And, he has the team on the track for a winning season and many winning seasons to come. So, let's all hope that is effort is rewarded this weekend with a great turnout of students at Apogee. Let's hope all who come out before the game to party and tailgate also actually make it into Apogee for the game. Crowd noise matters and it makes home field into a home field advantage. See you at Apogee Saturday...thanks Coach Mac for the efforts you and your team are making.
  12. 38-13 for UNT..."Good Guys" get the win at home to start on the road to 7-5!
  13. So, anyone know why he was "dismissed" at Kansas before seeing the field? Paper (Vito) reported he was "dismissed". I am really happy he is enrolled and wants to play for UNT...and I am just as happy as Mac seems to think he's a good piick-up...BUT...lots of "stuff" with this kid and I will just "wait and see" and trust Mac and Company with this kid. Sometimes kids are a bit (well more than a bit at times) immature and have had too much of "reading their own press clippings" and recruiters telling them that they are the next Peyton and Eli manning and/or Brett Farve or whoever to get their heads on straight. Takes a bit of "growing up" sometimes...some do, others never quite get there and potential turns into "had potential". Until all that is sorted out, and I fully expect Mac and Company can handle that quite well, I'll not get overly excited. However, what does excite me is that Mac and Co. seem to be starting to pick up more and more highly rated players. These kids...ala Tony Mitchell in basketball...tend to bring other kids with them. That is usually a good thing. So, here's keeping my fingers crossed...but at this time...all UNT has is "potential" and a kid that seems to have had some trouble sticking anywhere. Lots to be excited about in the potential area here....just have seen this (as Silver pointed out) many times before. Some with good to great results...some well, not so good. All said...welcome to the great Mean green Nation Brock...you should have signed here in the first place. Now, go bring some of your pals here to play for the Mean Green! Oh, and make sure to go to class and make your grades. Again...anyone know why he was "dismissed" from school at Kansas?????
  14. Bummer for me...I am involved in UNT's Volunteer Leadership Weekend at UNT starting Friday at 4:30PM...so will have to miss this great win for the Mean green. That sucks! I should have looked at the soccer schedule BEFORE I agreed to "volunteer" to be part of this 2-day Volunteer Leadership Weekend event at UNT. That will teach me...do some better research KRAM...next time! Ha! But there is a dinner at Apogee so maybe I can grad a seat by a window and peak across at the soccer pitch! Hope so... Go get 'em ladies...the Bears are no match for the mighty Mean Green!
  15. Good deal...but I really don't need Facebook to get me headed to Apogee Saturday...or any Saturday, but at this point I'm a fan of anything that works....click away Facebook fans...but how about actually attending after you click away and say you will...PLEASE...PRETTY PLEASE!!!! Send a few Tweets out while you are at it...like I said...anything that might help. Need to see a full house Saturday at Apogee and I don't mean just in the tailgate areas but rears in the seats in the stands...are you listening students? Alums? Fans? Community folks?
  16. Well said...agree with you...but keeping all fingers and toes crossed...how many years will this guy have to play after Thompson graduates?
  17. Brett Vito is posting that he has indeed enrolled at UNT. Good news, but jury is still out on this kid...we'll see how it goes...but, WEL:COME TO THE MEAN GREEN NATION BROCK! By the way...I thought i read somewhere on this board or in some other not to be mentioned board that UNT couldn't attract top rated players...that Mac didn't have good recruiting "stuff"...maybe I just imagined those postings. Looks like some folks are beginning to take UNT seriously and see the advantages of playing for UNT at Apogee and with this "skins on the wall" coaching staff after all.....nice!
  18. WOW...interesting to say the least...juury is still out on this kid in my opinion, but welcome to the Mean green nation Brock!
  19. I like the Mean Green's chances to be 1-1 after this Saturday...I'm not too good at predicting season totals...I'll just say I think the Mean Green will definitely have a chance to win every game from here on out...and a chance is much better than the Mean green has had the last several years to win out. No, not doing any predicting here...except to say, I think this teams is a very different animal than the one we saw overall last season in mindset and in confidence starting out the season.
  20. Tried to sneak in time to see both or one of the Cardiff or Swansea games, but alas the timing just did not work out. Was in touch with the Cardiff City FC folks before ever leaving the States...but it just couldn't be done.....so sad about it...did check out Cardiff's Millennium Stadium...and saw Swansea's home pitch...but that's as close as I got...even missed the Rugby games going on while we were there...way too busy...and way too much Pub Time!
  21. GREAT SIGNS! Wish I had some of this creativity for such sign-work. Really love them all....EXCELLENT JOB!
  22. Just returned home from "across the pond" last evening and this is getting BIG play in the UK press....seems many many are up in arms over this crap and seems it will lead to a review of home owner's rights to protect themselves....that's the good news...but on another note I read in the press that a 15 year old was recently given the maximum...MAXIMUM...sentacnce that a juvenile could be given in the UK for MURDER... 1 year and a psychiatric exam! SERIOUSLY...1 year for MURDER of another juvenile...REALLY?????
  23. Well...how sad...just got back from spending a few days in Wales...yes, that wales...and I see this thread about Josh White. All I could think of was how sad for Josh. Drex hit it on the nail when he said Josh can feel however he wants, but should not put it on Twitter. How immature and unprofessional of him to do such a thing. Lost a little respect for a great UNT ball player here. BUT...it is, to me, a sign of the "UNT fan base" as well. I think all UNT fans and alums should take serious note of this attitude...and ask themselves...am I part of the problem or part of the solution? Are you members of the Mean green Club? The Alumni Association? Do you let little pet peeves sour you on the Mean green? Do you act and say positive things about UNT or do you find reasons to bad mouth the program and its leadership? These things matter...Josh heard this crap from alums and fans and students while at UNT...he witnessed the often lack of support...folks it matters...and everyone can do his/her part to change this perception. It's up to you...IT'S UP TO ALL OF US! I really feel bad for Josh.....
  24. Can't wait...I'll be there for the win!
  25. I am in Wales...the time here is after 9am...Ha! Good catch..
