  1. Ha Ha...aren't you the funny one!
  2. Don't need to...it's right there for all to see and the path splits with one part leading right to the front door of the Alumni Pavilion. Anyone who misses it really has ZERO excuse. One can also see the big UNT ALUMNI PAVILION signage.....you know, the big green letters on the Pavilion. THAT signage. Silver...do appreciate your support for both the Alumni Association and the Pavilion. Looking forward to seeing you there on game days....
  3. Well, I don' think I suggested calling all the people you reference...a bit overboard you went there I think. BUT, to answer your question...YES, I have personally found it to be both helpful and enlightening when I do call by phone, contact by email and/or talk to the right folks in person. Amazing how perceptions can change with a little real knowledge from the folks who really know what's going on. Will admit that I have not talked to anyone at the Bookstore, but the folks in the Administration at UNT, and the Athletic Dept. at UNT that I HAVE talked to have been very responsive and have been very professional and kind in taking time to talk with me about my concerns. Some, they could do something about and promised to try, some I learned that my thoughts and views were a bit "out of line with reality" and I learned something and some I found were being worked on already or could not be handled at this time for any number of legitimate reasons. Again, amazing what one can find out when they actually take the time to try to find some real facts and not just "stuff" posted on a message board. I have also found that the manner in which these folks are approached and the "history" of the person doing the approaching has a part to play in how the conversation goes. I honestly think that if I always played the blame game, always criticized the folks I am now asking for information from, had no history of support for UNT, always criticized and never offered to help or offered tangible solutions then the response I received may have been a bit different. Funny, I have found this to be true throughout my professional and personal career. Amazing how that works.... Hard to be taken seriously if one just sits back and throws barbs and criticisms, but does little to nothing to try to make a difference. Now, to UNT90 here...folks this is not the case with UNT90 at all. This guy gives his time and his treasure to UNT...he has earned the right to be a tad "touchy" because he does not only talk the talk, but he also walks the walk. To that extent...calling these folks and professionally sharing concerns is not wasting any one's time. This is just the type of feedback and from the type of folks that they WANT to hear about and from.
  4. Adman...I see where you are coming from, but even the breeders of Pit Bulls describe them as having "aggressive tendancies". As I understand it, they were originally bred to be aggressive. Now, while all the attacks by Pit Bulls may indeed be owed more to the owner than the dog itself, there is no denying that Pit Bulls do pose a threat and need to be watched much closer than many other breeds. The question i have is...why, other than what Adman describes here, would one want a dog that has the very real potential for aggression such as a Pit Bull when there are so many other and more "people and pet friendly" breeds to choose from? I do agree...if owners would act responsibly, many of these attacks could/would have been prevented. Problem is..people do not act responsibly many times. Not a risk I care to take nor wish my family to be around. As I understand it, some communities have designated these breeds to be aggressive and owners must "register" these dogs. Why take the risk of ownership in the first place?
  5. My bride and I will be there...proudly wearing our MEAN GREEN GREEN & WHITE!!!! Edit: Almost forgot...Emmitt...thanks for reminding everyone of that time and place! Ahhhhhhhh...memories!
  6. Really good news. This will be a big help for our fans. Thanks go out for getting this project underway and completed to all who had a helping hand in doing so. Am sure there were plenty of frustrations along the way, but the end of construction and the grand opening is in sight, so many thanks. Just another completed project among the many very nice projects around the UNT campus these days. I'll look forward to my first walk across that new bridge!
  7. Well...I think we can start with "Pit Bulls" and perhaps gop from there....
  8. Yep...and complaining about it all on a fan message board will really help solve the problems, right? Why not pick up the phone and call someone who might can do something about it all? The "apathy" I see around here is the fact that so many folks on this board and the other one (who really do form a good part of the backbone of the UNT fan base)_ like to say and post things here that they would in no way say to any one's face...especially in the manner they post here...we have some on the other board now posting that Coach Mac is full of S....t. I'm sure they would not say that to the man's face...in fact, I am 100% positive they wouldn't. And, BTW...the Governor would have no control over the completion of the bridge. So, don't call him...it would be a waste of time and energy. Call someone who can make a difference. As to the radio show (Coach mac Show) audio problems...I mentioned that last week to someone who actually knows what's going on and who is trying to get it fixed. It's a problem with the line at Rudy's BBQ. It's on Rudy's end of the house. They are working on it. If you might recall...it was not a problem last year and the show was held art the same place. I don't know enough about this stuff to know how difficult it will be to fix, but I did take the matter to someone who could help and does know. I didn't think just complaining here on some message board would do much good. As to the refs mikes...I could not care less...not a problem for me, so I have not talked to anyone about that. But, if it were a problem, I'd find out who could help make it better and I'd chat with them. My guess...they know and they are trying to fix it...it might just be a tad more complicated than some folks think. I don't know. But, i do know that at times "squeaky wheels get some grease"...so, folks call the athletic dept. and let them know it's a problem for you. Be nice, be professional but call someone who might can help. APATHY is just sitting around and letting "someone else do it". If it bothers you...call....at least let someone know. The more that call...and who call professionally and politely and in a helpful manner....might light a fire somewhere and get the situation elevated in priority and on the road to a fix. I know it's easier to complain here on GMG.com and on that other board, but that sure doesn't do much to solve any problem...other than allowing for a little venting. ...OK, that's not bad at times either.... Anyway...folks...got a problem? call someone who might can help you with it....don't wait for someone else to do it. If it's not a big enough problem for you to try to help get it fixed...well, maybe it's not such a problem after all...just sayin...... Or, maybe you would rather just complain than actually see something done. Complaining is just so much easier. And, yes, it is our responsibility to help "fix" things that we see as broken....but, offering a solution and to help is also nice and goes a long way in getting stuff done. I learned that in 34 years of marriage around the house! Ha!
  9. You do know that you can listen in, right? Or...tape the show for a later listen perhaps. Not knocking you...just letting you know. maybe the time doesn't work for you.... Pretty good show last night, excellent crowd considering the loss Saturday night. Not much more than you would expect Coach mac to say after such a defeat. Did the usual coach thing in praising FAU and talking about how tough the game will be. Comic relief as the folks were talking about FAU's old stadium...pretty funny. hank compared it to the Denton fairgrounds and got a few moans from the locals. Said Brelen was not told to fair catch the ball and he wanted Brelen to secure the ball and head up field more...said Olen is a good kicker and he expects him to recover from the last game. Likes all three of our running backs. Likes the crop of red shirts and the recent transfer signings. About it really...at least all I can recall anyway.
  10. Plumm...your glass just always seems "half-full". Let me reassure you...the sky is not falling...don't believe all the "Chicken Little's" that like to tell you it is falling. Yahoo U is passing us by screams Chicken Little...the sky is falling...the sky is falling...NOT! Hang in there big guy.....you might want to get some real facts as to what's going on at YOUR university these days...sky looks really a lot bluer when you do. Really...it does,. Want to help or want to just sound the false alarm? Sit back...take a breath and ask yourself this...what can I do to be a positive influence for UNT today and tomorrow and each and every day going forward? Dream about Tomorrow Live for Today Learn From Yesterday.
  11. Well...Oh, the joys of being a special teams player...feast or famine when the fans are concerned and as well the coaching staff at UNT it seems. Zach Olen had a tough day...granted. Zach Olen in no way lost that game....that game was lost as a team...how about that roughing penalty late in game with UNT inside the Troy 30 yard line? How about the missed passes, the missed blocks, the two Troy receivers who got behind...way behind our secondary and on and on????? It's a team sport and teams win and lose...individual players do not. Zach and the rest of his teammates feel badly about this loss as we all do...but they feel even worse I am most certain. Zach and his teammates will right the ship and have a much better game Saturday against FAU. here's hoping Mac and Co. sends Zach right back out Saturday for the first FG attempt of the game for the Mean green...he'll nail it and go on from there. The kid can kick...been there done that...tough business this being a special teams player......Good luck Zach and good luck to all the Mean Green team....The Mean green nation stands with you, hurts with you for the loss but will cheer with you in victory Saturday. Go get 'em!!!! EDIT: For those who wonder...NO, I am not related in any way to Zach Olen or any other member of the team or coaching staff or AD staff.
  12. Looks like a "good get" to me! I'm partial to kids who make plays no matter what their "standard" stats say.....UNT is in need of play makers....not stats. How the kid plays on "game day" is what interests me. I'll leave it to the coaching staff to decide who and who doesn't fit that bill. Now...where's the next Cody Spencer???? Zach Orr?????? This kid? Could be...time will tell.
  13. The sky is not falling! It's just a little cloudy after saturday...that's all...the sun will shine again!
  14. Happy Birthday, Derek T. I hope you have a great day...it's a special one, so make it so! The Mean Green Nation is behind you.....go get 'em!
  15. This is terrible news. Thoughts and prayers go out to both families involved in this terrible situation. This is absolutely horriffic, and it saddens me deeply.
  16. Don't think I have ever been more disappointed leaving a game than I was last night. This was a MUCH needed win for the Mean Green and they just did not play well AT ALL. Don't know why...good and loud crowd and a home game. I think the fans and students pretty much did their part last night. I saw lots of "new faces" on the alumni side and in the Club Room area last evening, but what I saw on the field left me just drained. I feel really really bad for Zach Olen...great kid, great family...just in a bad game-day slump. Too bad Mac didn't give him that last FG try...might have made that and made all the difference in the world in his "head" going into the next game. As that's where the problem lies...always is with these kickers...sort of like golf, but I digress. Needed this win in a bad way...cannot believe what I saw with special teams again last evening...why do we "fair catch" every punt even when the defenders are 7+ yards away when the ball is caught? How do we get caught napping on the on-sides kick? How do we pick up the personal foul penalty in the second half when driving for the tying score? How do we not have all the players on the field coming out of a time out...plus a TV time out? How do we overthrow receivers time and time again...wide open receivers I might add? Very disappointed for the fans, the students and the players. these kids wanted that win as badly as anyone could and they worked their tails off in practice this last week...as they always do. No player or coach went out there to pretty much "lay an egg" in a crucial agme...win that game and the season sets up well for attendance and standings...lose it and well...we'll see. Down on this team and coaching staff...NO WAY!!! Disappointed in what I saw last night at Apogee...ABSOLUTELY! Could not have come at a more crucial time for the Mean Green. BUT, good news is...another game next week. The sun came up this morning here over Apogee and the sky is not falling. My bride and I will be back in our seats cheering for the Mean Green on Tuesday night....Oct. 16th. If this team and staff ever needed it's student body and fan base to "show up"...it needs the support on Oct. 16th. I'll be there...here's hoping you will be as well. PS...Coach Mac...at Monday's Coach Mac Show, please don't tell us again about all the "skins on the wall" you and your staff have...please tell us what you plan to do to fix special teams and the offense. I have full faith in the fact that your staff can "right this ship", but let's concentrate on the "here and now" and not whatever past glory you and your staff had at places that don't mean a thing today! It's what's going on with our beloved Mean green that matter to us...talk to us about that...please and thanks.
  17. I see no problem at all with this...had a youth soccer team lose a game 14-0...for you football fans that would be 84-0...kids learned they better come to play and prepare as such....and they actually had a pretty good time trying...if you want to call it that...to keep the other team's goalie from scoring...everyone else on the team already had scored! Hey, it happens...learn from it and go on.....could help the team more than winning the game would...did for my team...they went on to win some they probably should not have won that season... Come to play or go home!
  18. Grant...can you just follow me around and be my bodygaurd? I like the way you think here. So, just for the record, I like this...don't let them take my wallet. Way to go!
  19. Glad to see an East Texas kid getting good PR...nicly done Brett Vito! Tylermeangreen..one of your guys here....
  20. Emmitt...you giving out samples to the ladies?????
  21. That would be GREAT!
  22. Just keep referring to me as "young man" and I am good with ever else you want to post!
  23. Just remember the bridge.......
  24. Progressing...."stuff" takes time. Money was just raised. It's going to be really nice! Stay tuned.
  25. It's win in the books for Coach Dodge and Marble Falls...good for Coach Dodge. Yes, Riley is no longer at Marble Falls...believe he is coaching at A&M as a grad assistant...I wonder how his Longhorn Dad likes that one? ha! Am sure he's plenty fine with it if it helps Riley progress in his coaching career. Good luck, Coach Dodge.
