Rangers lose wildcard game
KRAM1 replied to meanJewGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
OUCH...two colossal fails in recent weeks...first the US team blows it big time in the Ryder Cup and then the Rangers blow a 131/2 game lead and lose the pennant on the final day to Oakland. Anyone here still think the Rangers should re-sign Hamilton? I won't even talk about the local pro football team and it's mediocre run over the last 15 years......Oh, my..... But, still in the hunt these Rangers are...so, all is not "lost" as yet. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that the Baltimore Orioles could help the Mean Green see a larger crowd for the Tuesday night game against LaLa? Amazing how these things work sometimes.....just had to throw that out for all the folks who seem to think a Ranger game might have some impact on the LaLa game crowd size at Apogee. Question...no answer....? -
More evidence that what you post online matters.... Wall Street Journal...Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 "Web Profiles Haunt Students" Survey of college and university admissions officers, 2012: 1) Have you ever Googled an applicant to learn more about them YES: 27% NO: 73% 2) Have you ever visited his or her social networking page like Facebook? YES: 26% NO: 74% 3) Have you ever discovered something online that hurt an applicant: YES: 35% NO: 65% Folks, what you do online matters more and more and it matters for your kids as well...I can see the "yes" answers going higher and higher in future surveys...I know that one of the banks where i was once employed also "researches" social media sites for clues to what applicants for employment are posting/doing, etc. This stuff matters...as seen here...even your chances of gaining admission to the university of your choice. Worth thinking about! EDIT: Corrected a spelling error...oops. Sorry!

Rangers lose wildcard game
KRAM1 replied to meanJewGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Rangers equal MAJOR FAIL! Hard to imagine losing a 13 game lead....but, believe it because it happened. Now will the Rangers get it together enough to win the wild card play in game? Hope so, but have no clue what this team will do....major major fail!!!!! Too bad for all the diehard Rangers fans out there... -
LOL!!!! HOF Worthy..at least to those who get the humor here! Plus 1 for you, Sir.....

WELCOME ABOARD! Thanks for supporting the Mean Green! -
"Wall Street Journal" - today (10-2-12) Page D1 "Why We Are So Rude Onlune" "People say things to each other that they would never say face to face". Funny thing is that the example they use regards Pitt Bulls....Hmmmmmmmmmm Premise of the study is the question why we are so nasty to each other online...actually mentions "hiding behind a fake screen name.... Says we tend to dehumanize each other online because it's harder to focus on what we have in common". Hmmmmm...sound anything like what goes on here and on some other message board focused on Mean green athletics? Suggest we all get a copy and read this article. Might see a tad bit of ourselves in it's words. Thought it was really interesting and pretty darn central to many of the "spats" folks seem to have on-line here on GMG.Com. Even talks about folks losing friends over such nonsense. That isn't so funny. Worth a read and worth some thought and consideration.

This...exactly this! Very well stated. Everyone who thinks yelling foul language is "cool" should think about just what you posted. -

Welcome Green59...happy to have you as a new BB season ticket holder...Mean Green Room will be a great way to kick-off your basketball experience as a season ticket holder. Yes, i know you are in the Green Room before games for pretty much each game you have attended prior to this year...so you were already a "sort of" season ticket holder in BB as well...now you can be a "full fledged" card carrying season ticket holder. EXCELLENT!!! Appreciate your continued support for all things Mean Green! +1 for you, Sir! -
Photos or it's only imagination.

I love the scheduling going on at UTSA...NEW TEAM....relatively speaking....getting some wins is a very good thing in my opinion. I am happy to have UTSA in CUSA and even happier to have this east travel in-state team in the same conference with the Mean Green. I do think they are doing some things the right way to build fan support and interest. Good for them.

The CougarKing Comes to GMG Thread (With Guest Star MeanGreener)
KRAM1 replied to Cougar King's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm taking the Mean Green over Cougar High as well...I think the offense comes alive...Olen gets 3FG's and Thompson hits on 2 TD throws and UNT get one rushing.... Final Score: Mean Green 30 Cougar High 20 UNT seems to play better on the road and remembers last year's game at Apogee! -

Here's hoping we see this when it counts at the Super Pit this season...going to be a special year for the Mean Green! Be there...get this season tickets reserved NOW!

Good question...I really don't know. I do believe that at 3 years old kids need their own football tickets, and I recall having to buy same price tickets for my kids to basketball games IF they wanted to sit in the served seat area where our season tickets were located. But, best thing to do would be to give the ticket office a call...they could probably give you a much better answer. In past years you could get them a nose bleed section seat...well, the Super Pit really doesn't have a nose bleed section.....and just bring them down to your seat later...but this year might just be different as the seats might just be a tad fuller. Hey, give "smooth fresh" a PM and ask...he takes his son to almost all the games and I think he was 3last season. Just a thought...good guy this smooth fresh...he'll know.

Our offensive output tonight was impressive
KRAM1 replied to H-towngreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Isn't it nice to read all the complaints about a WIN instead of a loss? In the last few years this would have been an ugly loss. I'll take "ugly win" over ugly loss anytime. Heck, I'll take "ugly win" over a great game loss.....check out the UT vs OSU game last night if you want a clue how much better it is to "win ugly" than lose pretty if you are an OSU fan. Those folks feel a ton worse than MeanGreen fans do this morning. Agree with many of the comments here regarding the offense, but I will take that WIN and be happy with it....way too many loses in the last few years in games UNT SHOULD have won..should have won this we...did....next..... -
UNTLifer...no TV does not count....i doubt you have seen them all even on TV...and yes, I knew you were just finding something to bitch about. I understood full well what you meant. Some of you folks need to get a life. Just saying...I'm really glad I don't see all glasses as half full like many here seem to do...sad...so sad!

You 100 percent sure about that "ours is the only one" comment? Lots of stadiums in the US. You get around a great deal to have the experience and actual facts to make that comment...but good for you for sitting in every stadium in the country! I envy you ability to travel so much and watch football in so many different cities. How do you find time to work during the fall?

I believe I stated in my original post that I was not an expert and may have missed something in the explanation...But, I did plainly hear that the position of Apogee between two cell towers and the positioning of the Apogee equipment definitely has a role to play along with all the cell traffic during games...both inside and outside the stadium. The info came from a very well placed source and was unsolicited. Just trying to let folks know that the problem has been diagnosed, and that a fix is in the works. Thought that was good news worth posting. Am also VERY certain there are those who know a ton more about this than I do...especially those working to solve the solution. I can also tell you that the folks in the Athletic Dept. are more frustrated with it than any fan! Also good news to me as it shows they are determined to get it solved! Go Mean Green.....beat FAU!

Found out the the ref mic problem at Apogee has been a bit of a mystery and struggle to fix, but they seem to have located the problem and are working with Manhatten Construction to get it fixed. You may not believe this but they work when tested. Problem was they were tested when no crowd was at Apogee. Seems it is a bad cell tower placement AND, get this, the fact that so many people on the highway and in Apogee during games are ON THEIR cell phones! Yep, all the folks on and the fact that the stadium is down in a hole as far as towers are concerned and because it is right between two big towers is causing the problem. I am not a teach guy so don't understand all that was explained to me, but I did understand that it will be fixed, that it is pretty expensive to fix and that lots of folks are working on it. No one likes it and everyone knows it MUST be fixed and fixed soon. So, to all the folks that thought everyone was just sitting around doing nothing about it...WRONG...lots of folks working omit andIT WILL BE FIXED. Thought that was good news...really surprised to hear what the problem has been....funny about all the cell phones I thought, but that's something that can be fixed wi some fairly expensive antenna replacements. I think we'll see improvement soon. Thought you might like to know...I was pretty happy to hear the fix is on the way and that it could be fixed. Was a bit of a mystery as to why at first as it worked fine ever time they had folks out to test the thing....ahhhh, they mysteries of life........

The double edged sword about that Troy game
KRAM1 replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
Let's also not forget the solid years that Jason ball gave us in the kicking game prior to Nick B. Year's ago we had Iseed Khoury as well. UNT has had some mighty fine punters and place kickers...here's hoping that Zach Olen regains form, grabs the reins on that kicking spot and follows in the footsteps of some of UNT's great ones.....Can happen. -
Thoughts and prayers go out to Denny and his entire family. The Mean Green Nation has a member and his family suffering right now...here's hoping that knowing that so many in the Mean Green Nation care and send Denny and his family thoughts and prayers helps at least a little in this time of loss. May God grant Denny and his family peace. Recall all the good times...as I am most certain there were many. RIP.

But, i thought UNT never had any promotions and that thew AD and staff were just sitting around letting this Tuesday night opportunity pass without even trying???? What???? Good to see that the UNT folks are doing their best to get the community involved....some folks seem to think that this is something new...as one who has been around these parts awhile, i can attest that this is not new...it may be getting better response, but it's not a newly designed effort to try to get the community to buy in....here's hoping there is a great community response to this offer. Indeed...it is a good one....

Why, Silver? Where's the negativity of which you speak? We all recall those games pretty much the same as you do...just how is that negative?
