  1. Well...we can all second guess the count...but what i do know is that at 5:30PM Tuesday evening only 14,000 tickets had been sold or picked up by students. AND, that IS the official AD count as of that time. So, If another 3,055 students showed up and had their ID's swiped...that's not bad. I know it looked and sounded larger, but the 17,055 is probably as near as correct as possible...given the 14,000 number at 5:30PM.
  2. I think running onto the field after a "regular win" is lame and speaks of nuttiness! Yes, you are overreaching and doing so in a big way. Let's save this type of thing for a win that seals the conference title or some milestone win over a team like OU, etc. GREAT win for the Mean Green, but certainly not field rushing stature. Just my opinion...NO harm no foul. Glad you ere there and even happier that you stayed to the end! Nice!
  3. That's why I said go to the break room.....they do stock it for you executive types, right? You know the corporate suite types who get all the perks! 7/11 coffee is pretty darn good too in case you didn't know...and I just know that's brewing in the break room, right?
  4. Appreciate EVERYONE who turned out for this game. If you had to leave early...or just left for whatever other reason, I am sorry, but understand. To the folks who are praising the students...I'll add my voice to that, but will also wonder where the rest of the were? Should have been double the number who showed up. To those that think the Alumni side was bad...I'll agree with that a bit as well, but also add my voice to those who say thanks for showing up on a Tues. night at 8PM....real life gets in the way of things sometimes that we might otherwise like to do. As students...well, they will learn this lesson soon enough. Announced crowd was 17,055! Ouch! Am sure everyone was hoping for more, but given everything....thanks...decent crowd...and loud one...I can only imagine how loud that place will be with 30,000 in the stands. The Mean Green Nation in no way embarrassed itself last night...either on the field or in the stands!
  5. Pay them a visit????? I thought you worked for them????? Just go to the break room and grab a 6-pack. They do give you all that stuff for free, right? HeHe.....hey, it's early this morning yet and I am still basking in the win.....
  6. Some interesting stuff here to say the least. DT led this team to the win last night. He played a solid game, and the team seemed to really feel the momentum created in the third quarter. In the stands it seemed that we could just tell that the win was happening...DT was a big big part of this win. The guy played a good game...did what he needed to do to help his team win. We should all be enjoying this win and thanking DT for leading this team to that win....and all the players..it's a team sport. DT did his part. For me, I am saying thanks DT for your leadership and thanks for a GREAT Win on A national stage. Plenty of pressure on this team last night, and they did not crumble. Getting this comeback win when the team seemed to need it the most may well be a turning point for the rest of the season...and a good one! Thanks DT and thanks to every member of that team for not "giving up" when down 20-6 in the third. Showed heart, character and determination. WELL DONE ONE & ALL!
  7. Indeed, it is a very good "dragging" today...sorry for all those folks who had to leave early last night...for whatever reason. Really great game...now, I am even happier that I decided to take today off! Great fun .... Way to go Mean Green!
  8. TEJAS!!!
  9. Also noticed that both the men's and women's teams looked stronger and much more solid...apprears that both have been in the gym working out HARD over the off season. No team looks to be able to puch our women arioound this yearr...and the arms and upper bodies on the men were much more defined...in my opinion...than last year. Both teams looked stronger and faster to me. Looked like Tony's "first step" was better...Colman is going to be a beast inside...something that UNT needs...Holman looked to me to be a "better and improved version" over last year. This is going to be fun! McCoy looked much more solid with the ball...agree with GrandGreen that the running part is still a work in progress. Also agree with Grand about the Mohawk hairdo...but, heck...kids...give 'em their due and let him play. Hair grows and gets cut....but, one does have to wonder about some styles...Ha! maybe I should get a Mohawk and show it off at the first home game. Seriously...not going to happen. Book that one Danno! GREAT event last night....big crowd...lots of fun. Great to see Overlander's first (OF MANY) three's.....
  10. We'll see soon enough. Glad you have so much confidence in the Mean Green D that you think LaLa will score 30....I'm looking for the Mean green to come out strong and hold off LaLa in a late push...the "good Guys" win this one...and those who stayed home will wish they had turned off the TV and headed to Apogee!
  11. Wanted to give a shout out to my fellow GMG.Com folks who came by the event last evening to help out....really appreciate you guys making the effort to come by and help... AllAboutUNT Harry Emmitt01 STIX (all the way from Sugarland to make this event, the BB Madness and the Tues game1) UNT90 Diet Coke Boy And, a special thanks goes as well to Green59 for giving me a cash donation to take to the event and add to the collection. What you did makes a difference, and it shows that the Mean Green family cares. I had a great time...even if i did stay way longer than I intended. It was great getting to meet GreenP1 and share a bit of conversation...and...I had the chance to sit and talk with Brian awhile as well before he had to leave. Folks...check out Brian's website and buy a tee shirt or send in a donation...small or large...it helps. Brian has a great group of friends and a fantastic girlfriend helping, but they could use your help as well. As Nike says...JUST DO IT! Thanks again to my fellow GMG.Com folks and to all who helped with this event. The folks at Oak Street Draft House were FANTASTIC as well...get out and support this place...they love UNT and they are super folks. They have earned our support....at least they have earned mine!
  12. No problem...you can still help out if you don't want to drink...I think they are selling t-shirts for the cause and taking donations of any size/amount. Come on down if you can...should be fun. I really do hope the Mean green Nation shows up to support this event. The alums and fans of the Mean green are great folks and often come together to help in such cases. It makes me very proud to be a member of this great Mean green Nation of ours when I see alums helping other alums...and when I can be a part...even a very small part of it....come on down!
  13. As I mentioned above....reading skills...Ha! NO, they do not serve food, but you are more than welcome to stop by your favorite food shop on the way and bring whatever you want to eat into the event! I have eaten items from Weinberger's Deli, Hoochie's, Sonic, Mellow Mushroom, Burguesa Burger and the Love Shack in the place....so, bring what you like and eat away...and help a Mean green Alum while you are at it tonight...I hear GreenP1 might take anyone who dares on in a game of Corn Hole!
  14. Just a quick shout out HAPPY BIRTHDAY to UNTFan23....it's your day...make it a great one...you can make it even better by attending the Basketball Madness event tonight at 7PM in the Super Pit...but, knowing the support you give for the Mean green...day in and day out...come win or lose...I'll bet you were already planning to attend tonight. I hope I get a chance to say "Happy Birthday" to you in person tonight. Have a great one... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  15. BUMP...folks, this needs your support. Go to the BB event if that's your thing and then head down to this event for some post-BB kick-off brews in support of a member of the great Mean Green Nation. Am certain that several of your fellow GMG.Com friends will be in attendance. Be there...great place...had a few draft beers there just this last Saturday afternoon with the bride....great backyard beer garden....COME ON DOWN!!!! Just a note...they don't serve food....so, if you want something to eat...stop by your favorite place on the way and bring it with you...you can eat in the beer garden while enjoying one (or more) of 40+ drafts they have on tap!
  16. See other post...Hank said to expect it to last about 2 hours.
  17. Hank told me to expect it to last 2 hours...7-9PM. I have no idea what the schedule of events is however....BUT, when it's over...remember to stop by the OAK STREET DRAFT house for a beer or two as it is Benefit Night for UNT grad Brian who really could use our help as he recovers from a serious brain tumor. So, hit the BB event and then head down to Oak Street Draft house to help out a member of the Mean Green Nation who could really use your help. Two great Mean green nation events to be followed by another TUESDAY AT APOGEES. So, three times the Mean Green opportunities early this week. It's going to be greatness! ATTEND ALL THREE! You know you have the time and you know you CAN!
  18. Appreciate your willingness to help your Alma Mater. The good folks in compliance can and will answer this question for you. I would not be 100% comfortable allowing the folks on GMG.Com to guide your recruiting "dos and don'ts". Are you a head coach? If not, perhaps your head coach could also be of some assistance. It's great seeing HS coaches think enough about UNT to want to help in the recruiting process in so much as to at least discuss UNT with their players. Thanks, Sir. Good luck to you.
  19. I'm hanging in there with you drex...keep the faith. Big game Tuesday if UNT is to get to six wins! See you at the game!
  20. Deep...seriously?
  21. OK ...your opinion...I just don't agree...it IS a national telecast and most cable firms include ESPN 2 in their lineups.....call it what you want if it helps you.
  22. Interesting to me that so many Texans would get so much joy out of seeing a team from Oklahoma beat Texas. Really interesting I think....
  23. UNT gets ashot to play on a national TV broadcast as the only game in town that night and some folks still find something to say with a negative tone to it. What I don't get is why UNT fans are ever so quick to find the negative in just about everything that is UNT and UNT athletics. If you don't see tHis as a positive opportunity for the program...well, I am sorry. Fact is...lots more folks will be exposed to UNT and UNT football and Apogee thisnTuesday night because of the game being shown on ESPN 2 than it has in some time. It may just be me, but I am happy about and grateful fornthisbopportunity to showcase the school, the stadium and the team. Go Mean Green...beat LaLa!
  24. State Fair...corny dogs and beer....and a pretty darn good Celtic Band.....that's after refereeing three soccer games...if these old guy legs can hold out. But, of course, that's what the beer and band listening is all about! Relaxing time! All, of course, will depend on what my bride has in store for me....I'm going to get her "beered up" a bit this evening so I can get her to say OK in a weak moment to my State Fair adventure. Wish me luck!
  25. Hey, we have one of those on our patio for the wee ones when they come over...or any other of the neighborhood kids who know the back gate is open....I could bring mine over...or you could bring your goal to my place and we'd have FULL COURT games! I'd love to see the battle of the "wee ones"! Yes, no dunking please and thank you...but, it is the only goal I have found where I can actually dunk! If I bring my goal to your place can we set them up in the street? Would love to hack off a few Denia folks! Just kiddin......you live anywhere near the Malone's? Great lady...Denton Youth Soccer Association owes that lady a deep and lasting helping of thanks and gratitude. Not everyone who lives in the Denia area is a "fun killer".....
