TMS Race Sneaks Up On Bonfire Event...No Football Team Tonight
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Team usually doesn't stay in Denton before a game anyway. I understand they stay in the hotel out near the raceway. have no clue where they are staying this Friday night....due to that race. But, reservations are made months in advance. Stuff happens (in this case perhaps traffic issues)....also understand that the team is pretty much on lockdown and had a week-long curfew in getting ready for this very important game. Am sure it is also a "darned if you do...darned if you don't deal". If players attend the bonfire some of our experts will complain that they were out too late and should have been resting before this important game....if they don't show up some of our experts will complain that it was the AD and staff's fault for not planning better. Am sure Coach Mac and his team are way too busy getting ready for this homecoming game to worry about what folks think about this...I am just keeping all fingers and toes crossed that the team starts fast, comes out strong and wins the game Saturday. Too bad about the bonfire thing...it sucks to not have them there, but it is what it is.....and the sun will come up Saturday over Apogee either way! BEAT ARKY STATE!!!!! -

Besides, are not we all tired of politics? have a good laugh...

I think I witnessed more effort on defense in that one exhibition game last night than I did in all games combined last year. This may just be something special we will all have the privilege to watch this season...bring it on!
-
I'm glad you did as well...you will like it! Welcome "HOME".

Where was T-Mitch ranked...where did he sign? Where is he playing now? Yes, "transfers" should count (not sure T Mitch is really a transfer and I know he plays BB, but you get my drift....I hope).

Indeed...but always nice on the eyes....ALWAYS! Hey, where were you sitting..looked for you...we're you in your "normal" seat?

Overlander has a slight injury...told he will be ready to go for the next game...not to worry.

And...I will keep saying that...any coach who listens to a bunch of folks who are great only in their own minds and who have never coached at the FBS/D1 level even one day is not worth having as a coach. You know, Emmitt....everyone knows how to be a better cop too...you know...how they could have kept that lady from getting killed after the lack of response after the 911 call...everyone that is who has never been a cop, who wasn't there and who has no dog in the hunt that is.... And coaching at the pee wee level doesn't really count any more than watching a cop show on TV. I'll stick with the guys who make their living coaching at the college level over a bunch of "I could do it better" message board arm chair Coaches...you can do as you please as well. Just sayin.....

So...you do, in fact agree. Sort of what I was saying if you read between the lines. I did say and I quote "if UNT needed him"....carry on. I realize you have much more inside poop than I do based on your position regarding the team...I don't think i am disagreeing with you at all if you will go back and read all my posts on this subject...and again...time to move on.

If Mac is worried that some fan board fans might think he is silly for making some football related move or another, then folks, we have the wrong guy! In the short time I have seen and been around Coach Mac I find the guy interested in doing all he can to win football games, not in worrying about what others think of him personally or his football related decisions. And, certainly would not give a rat's rear end if some "never coached...never been there...doesn't know the full story" fan thought some decision he made was silly! The folks that actually count here...team, AD staff, etc. KNOW what's going on here... And, please...I am not talking about any one's post here in specific when I said "never coached...never been there...doesn't know the full story"....my response is just a general response to the fact that some might think that this is an area of "concern" for Coach Mac. It's NOT! My comments are in no way directed toward any single post here.... It's time to move on about this situation folks...it's done....I hope Brent hooks on with a new D1 or whatever team that he likes and will get to play next season if he so chooses. Like I have said before...would loved to have seen him get a few more reps at UNT as DT's back-up guy...seems like a good guy and I know his family is a great bunch. Didn't work out for whatever reason...I applaud and thank and congratulate Brent for handling this situation the way he has in public. That says something positive about the young man and his family. Good luck.

Well, I think that if Oz was the best option and UNT needed him to try to win the game then Mac would definitely put him in...do you really think Mac would base a game day coaching decision on what a bunch of folks on a fan board or fans in general would think? Seriously? I give him much more credit than you in this regard I guess....While I agree that we will not see Oz UNLESS something "odd" happens, I do think Mac would and WILL make the best decision HE can regarding getting the Mean Green in a position to win. If that meant sending Oz in...I am certain he would do so. Folks, this situation with Oz is odd, of course, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is more to the story than meets the eye at this point.

Just an FYI...The UNT Alumni Pavilion at Apogee is open to all ...members and non-members alike this Saturday for Homecoming...no admission fee for non-members! There is a homecoming cake contest that will be going on in the Pavilion as well as the "normal" game day "stuff"...food, drink, etc. Cakes are set to be judged at 1:30PM...some really neat cakes in last year's event, and I suspect there will be as well this year...all themed, of course. If you have not stopped by the Alumni pavilion before now...well, here is your chance. It's also a good and convenient opportunity to join the Alumni Association or to renew your membership. HAPPY HOMECOMING...Be There...it's going to be a great Saturday with the Mean Green Nation!

DONE! Thanks for your support for this great cause....I will keep your dad in my thoughts and prayers and pray that he experiences a full recovery soon! -
So there IS a game in two days, right?
KRAM1 replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
"We" are all not down in the dumps. I happen to see lots of positives around this team, this coaching staff and this program. Happy about the year's record so far? Heck no....but I did not think this would be a two or even three year deal. Reality has a way of setting in when a program has been down for so long in the win column and when resources and donors are so scarce as they are around this program. The prior four years did not help things...too bad, but that's the way it is in Mean Green land right now. But, down in the dumps...heck no! It will be another great day Saturday at Apogee. No matter which way the game goes, I plan...and can assure you that I will....on having a great time. Will UNT win this one? Well...hope so, but it depends...depends...depends on which team shows up...the one that played K St. and LSU or the one that played Middle TN last week. Sort of a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on here...ha! My prediction...Mean Green will come out smoking fast this game and get up on Arky St. by 14 in the first half...Arky St. mounts a comeback behind a very good offense led by a very good QB, but the UNT offense behind DT hits for another TD in the 4th Qtr and the Mean Green D holds back the Wolves for a 24-20 win for the "good guys" in the Green! It's going to be a great Homecoming for the Mean green faithful...book it Danno! See you Saturday! -
Would this perhaps include a VERY large increase in the number and amount of donations and a big increase in the number of season tickets? Or, is this just supposed to happen by the "grace of God"? If we want to be a FBS program, and as you say "Act like an FBS program" then the fan base needs to do MUCH more than it is currently doing and that includes more than just complaining and posting on some fan message board. It means giving...and giving more...it means buying those tickets year end and year out...it means talking positive about what is going on right around the place. Chicken and egg thing you say? Nope....ALL FBS schools have to have the money to make it happen. UNT and its fan base has a very poor history when it comes to donations and it takes time to build that base...heck, we still have folks who stop giving what VERY little amount they were giving just because they don't agree with some timing of a tailgate event or some other "who cares" decision made by the athletic department staff. THAT is not being an FBS school...and that type of attitude will NEVER get UNT to that level. I just played golf and had lunch with a VERY upset and very involved donor (at a significant level I might add) to the University of Arkansas program. This guy is mad...but, when I asked if he was going to cut back or stop giving his answer was..."Are you kidding? Hell, no...I am planning on giving more so we can make the improvements we all see as needed!" He then added, "no true Arkansas fan would even think of stopping support just because the team is having a bad year...complain...yes...stop giving...not on your life". Hmmmmmm.....see any difference with that attitude and the attitude you see around here? And, you are 100% correct...Coach Mac definitely understands and he understands the UNT fan base a bit more than some seem to think. Anyway...to each his own....see you at the game tonight and Saturday! Edit: Sorry...had to spell check...you know how that goes.

It is going to be big time fun...need a big crowd to show this team that the alums, fans and students are behind them. Be the...be loud and Mean Green proud! Now...let's do get this moved to the BB thread where it actually belongs. EDIT: Well that's just some sorry folks.... sorry.....I tell you! Ha! I guess I need to fire up the MINUS button....

2012-13 Dallas Mavericks
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Now you are talking sense....perfect! Can we blame RV if it doesn't open before the Mavs first home game? That would make it feel so very much like home. -
Congrats ladies...now go kick some WKU rear ends...Do it! You know you can...we know you can!
-
Wow...another dynamic duo birthday set. Happy birthday to you Thor and untgirl04.....great to see it is your day...UNT could use more of your guys. Happy, happy birthday and thank you both for your support for UNT.
-
Sorry...you must be mixing this board up with the "sky is falling and all is wrong with UNT" board.
-
Be there!

No, it's not the FIRST thing...that "first thing" is more important...but, like I said...time flies when you are having fun! Ha!

2012-13 Dallas Mavericks
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Does that $5 include stub hubs fee, parking and snacks and a seat close enough to see without binoculars? Not to mention gas and transportation to Dallas and back...hardly a $5 price tag. But, understand completely what you are saying...there are tickets priced very reasonable for anyone really wishing to watch the Mavs in person...might just give it a go... And, who the heck saw that win over LA coming last night? Way to go Mavs...love seeing you beat the Lakers on their home court in front of all those "me me...look at me" fans at court side! ha! Sorry to see a guy like Nash having to be in that environment, but, hey...they will definitely be in the playoffs and many, it seems, think they will be in the hunt for the title. Nice win Mavs! Did not see that coming...Congrats! -
Good luck Mean Green...bring home the trophy and the auto NCAA bid!!!!!
