You many have a point here...I would think the players recruited by coaches and staffs other than our current staff may indeed not relate to Coach Mac and Co. As much as the Coach Mac guys. That might be somewhat normal when a team is struggling a bit..don't know as I have never experiened this first hand. But seems to me to be more likely that some buy in more than others. I realize some get tired of this line, but I think we will all have your answer when the team is, for the vast majority, Coach Mac and company recruited players.

Yes, and before Title IX killed men's soccer at UNT, it was the most consistent winning program at UNT. Seems soccer and UNT make a great combination. Way to go ladies.....super proud of this very young team. On to the NCAA'S.....Well done!

What is so nutty about all this is that the students who "changed" the fight song by adding the childish and offensive language to the fight song in the first place are now complaining that someone changed the fight song. More than a little irony in that!

Well, if the students have no respect for themselves or the UNT fight song, perhaps it is best that they keep their mouths shut while it is played. You might just be on to something here.

First...congratulations on actually posting something that pretty wasn't just "cut and pasted" from some other source. Second...once more you prove you know very little about what you are talking about...saw many of those 2000-2001-2002 team games..(and before and after those years).in fact we have a "adopted grandson" that played on that team...and one was our son's best man in his wedding. Anyone who missed seeing that team played missed one of the greatest UNT ever produced...on that we agree 100%. Third...I was watching games at Fouts when you were in grade school. But...carry on....glad to see you are now carrying on the tradition of complaing about stuff in both boards...by the way...did you make your Mean Green Club donation this year too late to get you name in the football program? In looking through the donor names I seem to have missed your name...but do know that some folks missed the deadline for the program printing this year. That's probably why your name is not listed, right?

Hear from an ex-UNT player during the game...he reads this board but does not post. He said when he was playing for UNT the team NEVER went to the bonfire...NEVER! Also said that most big time programs he knows of do not have players attending such events. Just from someone who has actually "been there done that" at UNT. But, tylermeangreen pretty much hit it on the head here...really really stretching for something to complain about...but, what else is new?

Estimating crowd size is pretty common in such circumstances. Those of us who have been attending these games since....well, for a very long time....have a decent feel for crowd size. So, I figure those that report such do as well.

Just saw the crowd at the bonfire....very big....how in the world did such a big crowd happen without the team? Yes...sarcasm alert here! Once again it shows that the naysayers and "the sky is falling folks" we're off base again. This making mountains out of molehills stuff is getting really old. Folks....try looking at what is right sometimes instead of always pissin' in the wind about much of nothing. Bonfire - Big Success! Seems to me folks are having a great time....and lots of folks. Excellent! And to think...the world did not stop spinning on its axis! Got to love it! Beat Arky State!

Not saying you are right or wrong on this, but just asking...how often have you been "up close and personal" with Coach mac on the Friday and Saturday before game time? My experience has shown me that he wants ZERO distractions for the team and that he is personally laser-focused on the job at hand. The team, in the hotel...has meetings...offense/defense and whole team together the night before the game as well as the morning of the game. Let's see..team leaves hotel at 7PM...drives in the multiple buses...probably two maybe three as it is a home game to denton...call it 30 min. to load up, 30 min. to drive to the bonfire...unload...spend an hour at the bonfire....load back up...drive back to the hotel...say 10PM at the latest. Hmmmm...time for a meeting? Again...not saying yes or no as to Mac's position as I do not have a clue...I do know however that he is laser-focused the day before and the day of a game and wants absolutely the fewest...very fewest distractions he can have for himself, his coaching staff and the players! Yep...love to see the players and coaches at the bonfire...it does have some spirit benefits, but if it meant so much to the students to have the players attend, why had it not led to good students turnouts in recent years when the team did attend? No coach in my memory and it goes back to the Otis Mitchell days...has done more to get the students involved than Coach Mac has...and it is working. Perspective people...perspective! What's the priority for the team here? The game itself and said preparation for the game pehaps...but I am just speculating.

Excellent...many of us can recall not too long ago when that would be a GREAT crowd for a regular season game! It's going to be special folks...get your tickets and your popcorn ready!

Do some of you folks realize how childish you sound? Much ado about absolutely NOTHING! Why to some folks just want to make every thing that takes place around this program into a giant problem? God, it must be interesting living at home with some of you folks. Do you ever say anything positive or smile or do you go through life trying to find what YOU THINK is wrong about everything. man, would I hate to have you working for me! Talk about messing up the neighborhood! Really...get a grip people! This board is turning into the "grumpy old man board". I thought there was a special place/board for all our experts who know everything about everything but have never actually done it! I need a beer! Well, I know there is a cake decorating contest that will be judged at the Pavilion Saturday...I am a judge...they are asking me to be there by about 1PM...so, I am thinking it will be open by 1PM at least...come on down!!!!

By the way...KUDOS to the Alumni Association staffers who are taking their time to set up the Pavilion early to allow folks to stop by and enjoy the bonfire from the facility. This is really a great move on the part of the Alumni Association and its VERY limited staff. Tell them thanks when you see them...and if you are not a current Alumni Association member...join....please and thank you.
