  1. I'll drink to that...in fact, we met just yesterday to begin planning for next year's Oktoberfest event! Thanks to all for the birthday wishes...very much appreciated!
  2. Thanks all....am certain that i will find some reason...I wonder what...to enjoy a cold one or two this evening. Being on the "right side of the grass" does have its advantages!

    MONROE

I have tried and tried to do that on numerous occasions...I simply cannot get it to wok...everything is "too big"...even when it is a very small item I want to upload. I gave up some time ago...if I have something I often email it to Harry and he gets it on...simply cannot figure this out...maybe some are granted that ability with9n the GMG.Com system and some are not...have and have not's sort of thing...Thor...you can count us among the "have not's"...Ha! Or, maybe we are just the "know not's"...just sayin......
  4. Indeed! Thanks to all for the kind words!
  5. Thank you so much for doing this. The Collin County Chapter is doing great....many thanks. I do hope all those who enjoy these Collin County events will say thanks by way of joining the Alumni Association so we can keep these events going. Well done and thank you Collin County Chapter!
  6. Happy Birthday, Evan...appreciate all you do!
  7. Heard last evening and confirmed it with Cooper that he is leaving UNT (last day is this Friday) for a new position in Tempe at Arizona State University. It's a nice promotion for Cooper and an indication, to me at least, that folks are taking notice of the good things going on at UNT these days. Seems all the staffers we are losing are going on to "bigger and better" positions (not saying the schools are bigger and better) and are furthering their careers as young staffers do. It seems to be the way to move up, and we all realize that there is some level of "churn" in these positions as these young men and women progress in their careers. All the best of luck to Cooper as leaves UNT to take over the Sun Devil Club (or whatever they call it at ASU) along with multiple other duties withing their Athletic Department. Fair winds and following seas, Cooper. All the best to you. Now, get UNT on the ASU schedule. Tempe would be a cool road trip...Cooper...are you listening?
  8. #70 will definitely be missed. He has provided leadership and stability for this team and it is appreciated by the great Mean green nation. These seniors have been through a great deal and it takes great and solid character to stay positive and stay the course under such conditions. Very happy to see this story as I was wondering why Coleman was being greeted by Mrs. Simmonds Saturday. Absolutely loved the fact that the entire O-line came over as well...family indeed! Thank you so very much for sharing this great story...but even more...thank you for sharing Coleman with the Mean Green family! God speed! WELL DONE #70!!!!
  9. No radio show tonight...come to the women's BB game instead!
  10. Just keep your pants on and zipped...unless at home that is.....and I don't mean at home with some strange and you folks know that. Just when are these guys going to learn? Epic fail...it ain't worth it...ever! No, not even for the person you are now thinking about...not even that person.
  11. Not sure that turnover would be credited to DT would it? What is the rule on that sort of play?
  12. Greatness...plus 100 for you, Sir!
  13. Appreciate the kinds words here. I think those who came had a good time...I know I did...I really want to say thanks to everyone who was able to help with our half-time drawing...all proceeds went to help a great UNT Mean Greener who is fighting to beat a terrible health issue...the funds generated will help and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous support. You guys are great...also...want to give a shout out to oldguystudent who became a member of the Alumni Association last evening at the event. Welcome aboard! We appreciate your support indeed! Great to have you and get to know you a bit! Great also to see the students who turned out for the event and want to say that you guys are ALWAYS welcome at any and all of our Alumni events. You guys are awesome, and it made my evening to see you all there...see you at Apogee today as well! Thanks again folks...if you don't come to these events they would be pretty dull! Great fun last night with a good many members of the Mean Green Nation! Now...getting ready to head to Apogee for Senior Day and a VICTORY over South Alabama!!!!
  14. I believe there is a Facebook site up...at least I know it is on my facebook page. The Alumni Center is located at the very end of the Gateway complex...not at the main gateway area, but rather attached to the breezeway at the end nearest Mozart hall. There is a little Guard Shack in the parking lot right in front of where it is located. The Alumni Association is in the process of sending out an announcement that will include an Eventbrite page. If you are an Alumni Association member and if they have your current and correct email address you should get some info...if not...just show up a tad before 7PM. We'll be there and you will be welcome!
  15. Galleria- Dallas The Marriott at the Shops at Legacy (shopping, movie, bars, restaurants...all right there!) Just to name a couple...also the Mansion on Turtle Creek...great bar ... good food...eat in the bar for a much less expensive (but limited menu as well) meal The Hotel at the Crescent is also great and you can walk to such places as The Idle Rich, The Gingerman, Black Friar's, Trueluck's, and many other great bars and restaurants. Bride and I do the same thing once or twice a year and have done so for our 34 years of marriage. Way cool. Really makes for a fun get-a-way and you don't even realize you are near home...the drive nback home is pretty easy as well! EDIT: You might can tell from the above that any place that doesn't turn the bed covers back and leave a chocolate on the pillow each night is "roughing it" in the opinion of my bride and not worthy of a "stay-cation" venue....Just sayin.....
  16. My call came from a member of the men's golf team. Did a great job, and like others here, i did not feel like he was reading from a script. Really appreciated the call...he wasn't trying to "sell" me anything...just saying thanks. I really appreciate the time these student-athletes have taken to do this...they probably did not jump up and down with joy when the idea was first presented to them as calling folks you don't know on the phone can be intimidating to some. Great job UNT Athletic Dept. staff....you know who you are...for doing this. It's very positive and was very much appreciated.
  17. Harry...Mean Green Premium has the game and we are setting up a tailgate at the Alumni Center...we'll be showing the game through that...it's been purchased by the Denton Chapter of the Alumni Association for the game. Admission is free...tip-off 7PM....hot dogs and drinks will be sold for $1 each and you can BYOB if you would like. Open to all Mean Green fans and friends....no admission fee.... and you do not have to be an Alumni Association member. As some have so kindly pointed out...it might be crowded if we get a big crowd so get there early and scope out your place in front of the big screen TV.
  18. Well, if you think using comments such as "hopefully they had the foresight" and "I can only imagine the epic clusterfudge" (cute try to get around what everyone knows he was saying) as making a constructive suggestion, then OK. I think the majority of folks probably saw it for what it was. But, good for you...and thanks for your thoughts. It's all the constructive comments like these that keep us all fired up as volunteers to do these sort of events. But, perhaps I am a tad "touchy" after the firestorm of negativism the volunteers all endured after the last attempt at a BB tailgate event..perhaps you recall the kind comments from the "usual suspects" before and after that one. We'll keep trying...and since most folks know how to contact me, please feel free to share your thoughts with me (or any other of our great volunteers) before or after our events...and feel free to volunteer to help as well if you are so moved. Might give you a bit of perspective on what time and effort these things take. What I would ask, however, is that you send your comments/suggestions...and, yes, criticisms if you wish, directly to me through a PM rather than through some snide comments on a public message board. If you really are interested in helping that is....."clusterfudge" or not...I'm thinking most of the attendees will probably have a pretty good time.
  19. You are welcome....come out Friday and have some fun....this one is all the idea of another of our Denton Board member who is doing most of the work to set this up and a couple of our other Board Members who are pitching in to help. Me, on this one I am pretty much along for the. I'll be there to help set up and clean up and maybe sell dogs and drinks, but others deserve the very big lion's share of the thanks for this one. These folks give a lot of their personal time AND treasure to help out. Volunteers all who try hard to do the best job they can. Thanks to these great folks.... It is going to be fun....Come on over Friday.....game time is 7PM...
  20. You know, you may be on to something there....could be...certainly could be.
  21. You had a question or did your mommy ask you to post that? Just go away...you are way past your bedtime.
  22. God help us...Cougar King's evil twin has now found a need to post on our board. Do other schools have such boring boards that they just are not keeping their kids at home? Geeeeezzzzzzz! FroggyStyle....most of us think you guys are doing something right in Ft. Worth these days....don't press your luck by playing the fool for Cougar King.
  23. Did your mommy let you out to play again? Are you sure you cleaned your room and made your bed first? And if you think calling me Grandpa is some put down...well, I love it when my two little grandsons call me that. So...big fail for you there, Kid. Tell your mommy hi for us and don't let the door hit you in the rear end on your way to Houston. The arm pit that is U of H will never be anything but small time and you know it or you would not have to keep trying to convince another school's message board fans that it is something more. Go away and talk to folks who will agree with you in that slop hole that is U of H. And it's message board.
  24. I hope you are kidding....I guess you have not a clue about where the Alumni Association offices are located or what equipment is available. Come on in and check it out. But, folks, please don't complain until you actually attend. Then you can post all your criticisms of this free event set up in an effort to have a good time watching the Mean Green. Yes, I hope it is crowded...maybe even too crowded. And, I hope we run out of dogs and drinks. It will mean we are doing something positive that people enjoy. And, if we can get membership numbers up we might even have enough cash to make these events even better. Until then we will try our best. Hopefully, more will appreciate the effort than not, and hopefully we will all have a good time. Come on out Friday, watch the Mean Green, have a dog and a drink or two and enjoy crowding around the big screen...we look forward to seeing you.
  25. If you are "of age"....and if you bring me at least one!
