No kidding...just what was your first clue? I believe you were the first post to talk about donating for these seats. You had a problem with the positioning of the nameplates....it was explained to me and it made sense....things change...some folks understand the change and move along. Some folks seem to want to hold petty grudges. Who was the AD then...do you even recall? BTW...please show me where I bragged about trying to get anyone to join the Mean Green Club? I do what I can to get people to join....where is that bragging about anything? Never have I talked about how much...I talk about "if". So, I suggest you get over you pettiness and just ignore my posts. There is a way to do so on this site. It might help you not get so worked up if something happens to hit a bit close to home. Just sayin....we have very different priorities it seems. Who cares? Edit: Thanks, sarge for the edit...darn spell check...fixed it so it couldn't do it this time...but maybe there just is a plague or pox going around after all....you may be right.

Yep, I bought seats as well. I recall it being said our names would be on the back of the seats we paid for. But, seems to me the big plaque in the concourse is a much better idea. Plus, I did not donate so I could see my name on some plaque. I donated to help get rid of those awful orange seats. It wasn't about recognition for me, it was about the seats and about helping with this project. Greenjoe was one of the folks who helped to spearhead this project. I recall his twisting my arm to get me to contribute. Good job, Joe. He 's still a donor to this day...thanks to greenjoe and all who give of their hard earned funds to help the Mean Green.

Thank you for your support. Pretty much the same way I feel.

Sure, you win...already said you guys win....what more do you want? I am done, the sky is falling folks win....no sense talking about it any longer.

Sure sweetie, you bring the cookies and I'll bring the mop...don't know how much good a mop will do on scuffed floors, but what ever you say. I like snicker doodles....

Agree...also it's called stupid when your bosses ask you for a report and you fail to deliver that report. Deserved to be fired due to insubordination it appears....would agree with that. My subordinates were only asked once for their budgets, they were given a deadline and held accountable...nor were they constantly reminded about project dwadlines. i would have fired the guy as well. Dumb is as dumb does I guess. I doubt you would have put up with it either Deep. Seems the guy did everything but ask to be fired.

Pretty darn good idea here, Plumm

OK, I give up here...you guys win...the sky is falling, everyone should be fired, no one should ever give another dime to UNT and there should be no one watching games ever again. Money and support has never helped a program move in a positive direction, so what's the use in giving? There should be no watching parties and no events centered around athletics...cancel all the activities and dis-ban the Mean green Club as it is worthless. Players will come to UNT no matter what the fan base is like and we can recruit coaches on below the market salaries, and build top notch facilities on just what the state provides. So, until UNT goes to the Rose Bowl and the Final Four, it's time to just back away and let it run its course as soon as UNT wins the Rose Bowl and the NCAA Tourney there will be tons of folks just shelling out $millions and millions to support the program, but no use providing support until then. And, let's make all the support contingent upon where we all like the AD, his staff, the HC in football and in men's BB. Heck, who even needs an AD or support staff or even HC's?...dump 'em all. The experts here can volunteer to run all the programs...oh, sorry, we don't have any volunteers any longer as we have disbanded them all. Seriously, you guys win...so, keep up the good work. It's no use anyway....folks will always find reasons to not support UNT. No changing that attitude. Have the biggest pity party you want...just count me out. I'll be too busy trying to do what i can....later folks. Get those -1's going as we all know, don't we. It is interesting that GMG.Com has actually turned into the "grumpy old man board" while our sister board seems to be the more rational these days in many cases. Amazing times these for UNT.

You got an answer.

Amazing concept...sell tickets, secure donations....I wonder if that has had anything to do with the recent success Ark St. Has seen? Some here seem to think that sort of thing does't help to improve a program, and we should be going to bowl games and then folks will donate and buy tickets.
-
Probably because they might just be the only "Pom poms" you have ever been hit with....... :-)
-
Pretty simple, isn't it? As an aside....it is no where near a train wreck.
-
Really sorry to hear this....how long out? Season? Well, the hits just keep coming.....Ouch! Will be interesting to see how the team fares Thursday against Troy. Sometimes, talented players find a way to overcome adversity. Maybe we will see a leader emerge and "lead" this team to a win.

Well, you would be wrong about the number who complain yet don't support, but whatever floats your boat. If you consider supporting your university the same as buying Rangers or Mavs tickets then in my opinion you just don't get it. And, that is the other part of the problem. UNT fans and Alums don't get it....long history of not getting it and not seeing their university as anything more than an entertainment dollar decision. Until that changes....nothing much else changes around here. The good news? Well, that attitude does appear to be changing....ever so slowly, but changing for the better none the less. How long will it take? No clue....just pleased to see it changing.

I spent my time in the Air Force (Vietnam era vet) and believe that those who served with me, before me and who now seve after me, and especially those who did not come home did plenty to EARN my vote. They paid the ultimate sacrifice so I could vote. That is all the "earning" I need to make sure I "pull that lever" at every opportunity I get. And, thanks for your service. The few, the proud, the Marines! Well done, Marine....

Are you suggesting that there is some animosity or jealousy between SMU and UNT? How can it be? Tell me it isn't so...HA. Right you are Deep...right you are...if history holds.
-
Glad to be on the right side of the grass for 2013. Happy New Year Mean Green Nation!

Correct you are...probably never will, but I would call for the non-renewal of a contract at its expiration. I believe contracts, when signed, should be honored (on both sides by the way). It was the "right guy" at the right amount when signed, and it was a good enough job to take at the money offered when signed....so it's good enough for its term. Just because you decide you don't like the gig or the guy you signed ... Well, too bad...good enough when signed. I realize it doesn't work this way in today's "me me me" world, but it does with me.

I agree with a good bit of what you say here, and it is a reasonable response. But, I don't agree that always complaining while not giving is not part of the problem, nor do I agree that one needs Boone Pickens money to make a difference. With the number of alums UNT has...in the metroplex alone...if even 10 percent actually joined the Mean Green Club at various levels those dollars would go a long way in covering the costs of scholarships and free up lots of dollars within the Athletic Dept. budget. Those crying for a coaching change and understanding that there is not enough funds for such should understand this and realize that money IS indeed part of the problem. I doubt anyone here wants to aspire to be N. Illinois or Idaho or ULM for that matter. I don't, I want better for UNT. But, like I said, you are correct in saying that it is a public job and criticism comes with the territory. People can certainly complain and well they do, but it rings hollow when one considers themselves a supporter when they are fully capable of supporting the program and choose not to do so...that's a decision one makes. Sort of like the folks who don't vote for some lame reason and then complain about how bad the elected officials are. Maybe that's OK as you say, but the criticism rings hollow and smacks of hypocrisy. So, yes, criticize all you want about the program, about students wearing shirts from other schools on campus, about low attendance, about the fact that UNT doesn't have enough money to attract big time players and/or coaches or staffers, about message boards and sound systems in the Super Pit, about no baseball...but look in the mirror and see part of the problem. The few can only do so much for the many who choose to ride the wagon while they wait for another Boone Pickens. Much smaller dollar amounts from a good number of supporters adds up to Boone Pickens dollars...or we can all wait for the next Boone...sort of like waiting to win the powerball lottery I guess. That works. OK, said my peace here. No secret how I feel, so I'll leave it at this and move along to today's bowl games. Sure would like to see the Mean Green playing OSU in Dallas today....could happen one of these days.

Yep...thanks, Dozer.

Right there with you guys...bad recruiting...how does this happen? Everyone needs to be fired! And what's up with only one white guy on both squads? Obviously a racist game! Where is Kanye West when you need him?
