  1. Yes...amazing what those three things can lead to for this team or any team. All three seem to have been MIA before this game. Congratulations guys...talent was always there...keep this up and good things are ahead.
  2. Well......nice win guys. Seems I saw some players making some real effort tonight. Case positive were the two blocks that Jordan and Tony each made on shots that looked like buckets made after UNT had turned the ball over. This sort of hustle was not previously happening. Not ready to crown the king right now, but sure looked much better in the effort and "want to" categories tonight. Could this be the start?
  3. If we just would ban magazines holding 100 rounds, then all would be swell. Can't kill anybody with those 50 round mags. A guy says he "understands" the 2nd Amendment then argues the position he does. Interesting. 2nd Amendment does't say anything about any style of weapon....what is it that is Understood" I have to wonder. Lots of room for compromise on this issue. Time those that hold the most rigid views on both sides of the issue just get out of te way and let the more sane and rational folks figure this out.
  4. Come on, 90, as much as you want to think so, the players do have some responsibility regarding the way a season plays out...yes, as well as the coach. I find it hard to believe that you have absolved the players from all responsibility. This thing takes everyone...players and coaches to be successful. I find it inane that so many here want to completely excuse the players. Yes, in spite of some, teams do need player leaders...leaders find ways to get the team to finish games...you seen that lately from these guys? Leaders may even call player only meetings to try to right a listing ship. Player leaders often step up and showcase their own skills when things go badly in order to put the team on their own back when needed. We have all seen this stuff at every level. Find a post where I have ever absolved Benford from his share of the responsibility? He has demonstrated that he is indeed a rookie coach. As a rational poster recently mentioned, this situation is a two way street. Time to realize that it does, indeed, take two to tango...and, if this team is to turn this season around, it is going to take leadership from the players to get it done. If these same players return with the same attitude next season...well..you may be right about the impending disaster if so. Me, I think not...I think we will see a much different situation next season. But, I am not going to quit on this team...I'll be there Saturday, as probably you will as well, and I will be looking for signs that this team will see a leader or two emerge to help make a run toward the tournament and success there.
  5. Thanks...happy you agree....without one strong leader in the player corps a team is rarely successful on any level.
  6. But, of course. Players lead.....
  7. I found out about this Balfour thing from a Josten's rep in fact. They are well aware of this, but it did not seem to bother the rep I talked with that much. Just did not understand why Balfour was selected over Josten's for these championship rings, but, again, did not seem that upset about it all. Said they would give it a try next year when UNT wins the CUSA title! Thought that last part was pretty darn positive!
  8. True dat, Old Guy!
  9. So, you are telling me that this group of players has no self-respect and no pride and very little inner character...and no "want to" when it comes to stepping up...even in the face of a coach that you say has no clue. Then, as the end of you post indicates...I hope we do see defections at the end of the year and defections due to not being asked back. IF...and I will yell this as well...WHAT YOU SAY IS TRUE ABOUT THE CHARACTER OF THESE PLAYERS! I happen to not believe this part about these guys...i think they do have pride, self-respect and character (at some level). What surprises me is that many are not showing it...both on and OFF the court. As much as folks want to think...think...that I blame only the players, I would say you...and many others...tend to give the players a handy and large pass. Way way too much of a pass. So, difference of opinion I guess...that's all. We'll both be in our seats Saturday, so we will see which way this team decides to go...as their "decision" to that has a lot to do with how this year finally turns out...and, yes, I believe much of it is a personal DECISION yet to be made.
  10. Probably a decent outline that could be followed/modifed to fit. Good find there Deep.
  11. Excellent....thank you!
  12. Or, perhaps the mindset of some of the players. If it is all 100% the coaching, then why is UNT leading these games early...ever? Why are they in it until stretch time? I am not trying to argue for or against your position regarding Coach Benford, just asking why a team with this many "star HS players" cannot, as a team of...as one person posted..."this caliber" step up down the stretch? You think the Michael Jordan's of the world did not know when and how to put a team on their back when needed and all but through single handed determination and grit take over? I see one guy who gets any starting minutes at all trying to be that guy. IF...and right now it is a big if...these guys collectively are such good ballplayers (and not always does HS success translate into D1 college ball success...we all know that) how can they collectively just fold their tents and go home down the stretch in these games? I know you know much more about BB than I ever will...admittedly so...so....why is this the case with this team? And, before anyone goes there...I am not absolving Benford of responsibility, but neither am I...like several here seem to want to do...absolving the players. And, BTW, my bride and I will be on hand to see if the Mean green can beat So. Alabama Saturday....no quit here!
  13. "A team of this caliber"......I hasten to add, if it were a "team of this caliber" the leaders (Hmmmm...do we really have any leaders on this team short of Roger who tries...and a freshman who i will not name that looks to be developing into a leader to me)...would step up, take the team on their collective backs and right the ship. If, of course, it were a team of "this caliber".
  14. Wow...just wow! I know UALR tends to hold team scoring down, but how does a team just stop scoring in the final quarter of a game? That is two games in a row where these guys just forgot how to shoot at the end. Man, how do these things keep happening? Most over hyped UNT team in all my history with the program. Expectations obviously set way too high, but that doesn't make it suck any less. Really feel bad for the team. I know they go out wanting and expecting to win. This must be even tougher on the payers and coaches as it is on the fans. Man, UNT needs some shooting and a win or two ASAP! I'll be there've Saturday for the S Ala game.....hoping that the team breaks out of this funk and gets the W. Hope to see you there!
  15. Problem here is that this is not a generality...it happened to this kid...because other kids change their minds has nothing to do with this kid. Tough luck for this kid...just hope he lands somewhere else...if not UNT then hopefully somewhere in the Big XII so he can try to stick it to Kingsbury and Tech. Yep, it happens, it is nothing new...but it shouldn't happen and it sucks for this kid. My prediction...he will land somewhere and he will be fine. Probably best for him if this is the way Kingsbury wants to run his program.
  16. Darn, that lady can't aim! Too bad!
  17. Why. Did this hurt you? Wear it as a badge of honor knowing where it came from if it did....consider the source. It's fully understandable. You can handle it.
  18. Please please put me back on ignore. Truth hurts you too much...you are obviously a guy who likes to throw it around, assume lots of stuff, but don't have the gonads to handle the reply. So, it stands to reason that you would run away. Please please ignore me...in fact, ignore the whole board while you are at it...
  19. You know what ASSUME does....you might want to stop making half-baked assumptions based on what you think...and "voting mostly Republican" or "mostly democrat" for that matter gives absolutely zero info about how one feels, supports, votes, etc. on individual issues...both of the social and the economic side. You show a lack of maturity when you do such....not a smart or appropriate idea. So you don't look like a bit of a fool by doing so, I suggest you just give some thought to not doing so in the future. Many folks on this board seem to think they know me...and have me pigeon-holed" in some category.....many people would be wrong. Probably goes for a lot of folks on this board and in life in general.
  20. You have absolutely ZERO idea of who I vote for...and pretty pompous of you for even suggesting that you do. Funny how you seen toTHINK you knopw me....you are actually clueless in that regard.
  21. Come on...how would you know? You never attend. I have been looking forward to your attending one of events for several years now.....don't make me keep waiting...I'm not getting any younger...and neither are you! :-)
  22. By the way...there may be a way to pay the cost out over a period of time if you check with Gina Lowe. Also...rumor has it that the cost of an annual membership may be going up in the near future. Just a "word to the wise" as they say....thanks again for the consideration and congrats again on your soon to be graduation celebration!
  23. Or...the lack of nitpicking the folks do around here that goes with the the men's program. I wonder how that is going in Austin right now at 0-3 in league play? Feel bad for Aston as she is a good coach with HC experience that seems to have hit a bit of a wall in Big XII play...you know when things really heat up. Fans in Austin are not overly kind about such. I have a UT alum relative that follows women'sBB at UT pretty closely...says lots of rumblings about Aston and her "style" with the players and game day management. Me, I don't think that's fair, and would be a supporter of Coach Aston...I guess I'd be called a "shill for the Dept." in Austin these days. here's hoping Aston rights the ship, but does show that "experience" does not always make a first year coach a lock to be successful...what was that Duke coach's name that went to UT just before Aston????? Pretty experienced I thought...guess not. Where is she coaching these days?
  24. Only if he has a buddy that sells mattresses and gives UNT a sizeable donation with some strings attached that are "discovered" after the firing takes place.
  25. If only folks spent as much time finding positive ways to help UNT.
