Are you saying Franklin doesn't try?
-
You know, I pretty much think all that can be said has been said about this team, the players and the coaches. Looks like the season will play out differently than just about everyone imagined and it seems the fans here on GMG.Com have pretty much segregated themselves into differeing camps reagarding the "whys and why nots and Ifs and buts". And, doesn't look like many new thoughts are discussions are going to develop. So, time to move along...at least for me. I've said what I can...still believe what I do...still love these guys and the Mean Green. And, unlike others who have said thaey have given up...I will not give up on these players or team. Got to see this play out here and in Hot Springs. Hope to see everyone at the Super Pit on the 24th for the next Mean green WIN!

Agree 100% on Franklin. Only point here is that as hard as Franklin tries on the floor, his personality off the court is not such that he can't be that vocal floor leader. He does all he can...ala 29 points last night while another "star" had 3 shots and ZERO points....on the floor, and tries to lead by example. Looks like the others just are not paying attention. I would love to have a bench leader as well...and think we have one at the moment in Overlander, but he is a freshman. I also think he has the make-up and personality to develop into a floor leader as well. You have seen enough BB in your time to know exactly what I am talking about. Others want to turn a blind eye to this, but i doubt in all seriousness that you have not considered this very thing. If only a few others gave it what Franklin does game in and game out. Wonder how Franklin can bring it each game and others...well.......?

Perhaps because he would realize that he could have been lighting far inferior Sunbelt players and teams as well...just wasn't. That is a fact...like it or not...cover for these guys all you want....but, you might want to check out that middle for yourself as well. Really, might be a good idea to listen to yourself here....don't hate me because I tell you the truth!

Workout Reports- Some New Names and a Position Change
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Football
Not sure it is wise to post these workout results on a fan message board. Want proof why? Check out some of the comments above. Just my opinion. -
I like having service academies on our schedule. Always great games to attend. Bring 'em on!
-
Would depend entirely upon who "showed up" to play. In our case you never seem to know these days.

No, I will in no way be embarrassed. Nothing for anyone except Mitchell to be embarrassed if this is the way it turns out. I hope it does...having the TV guys say "T MItch from the University of North Texas" will be music to my ears. I guess some folks think it has something to do with them...maybe that's why they get embarrassed so easily.....and often. Edit: Ha! I see at least one person does think it is about them. Too funny. OOPS! Now two!

Me too, like a a player to go un-named perhaps? Oh, who were you talking about? Win-lose or whatever, I will be there to watch and I'll be heading to Hot Springs as well. Love the Mean Green...dislike the effort on court I see from these guys! No matter, we can all agree on one thing...very disappointing season. I guess all the early hype was a tad overboard...yes, I bought it. Why not? So were the NBA types and the ESPN types. Hey, it's still college hoops and it is still the Mean green. Got to be there to support these guys and this staff.

Excellent job...hard to watch the differing efforts between this bunch of hard working ladies and what we see from the men these days. Really happy for these ladies. They, too, struggled a bit to learn a new system and a new coach. Seems it has clicked as these players have bought into Coach Petersen's system...and some who would not are no longer around the team for one reason or another. It is a joy to watch the effort these student-athletes display night in and night out. They did it when they were losing early in the year and they continue it now as the wins begin to come. And while it was rumored that a few players had some "issues" regarding the new system, they worked through them it appears. Hats off to the ladies of the Mean Green. What I see from your efforts each and every game...win or lose...makes me very proud to be a member of this great Mean Green Nation! Cannot wait to see how this team does in Hot Springs. I am looking for very good things from this group. As young as this team is, it certainly seems to be playing with a great deal of maturity. THANK you, ladies of the Mean Green! Folks, if you are a fan of women's BB or not, do yourself a favor and come watch these ladies play their hearts out...you will be happy you did and they will make you proud...win or lose!

GMG Bowl X April 13, 2013 (Mark your calendar)
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Player fee STILL only $25....and includes the player t-shirt. You can pay through PayPal as soon as Harry gets the PayPal thingy up on the board, or you can pay by check. PM me for details regarding payment by check and I'll get back with you ASAP. Also...folks, if you cannot play and cannot attend, your donations in any amount...any amount...would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds go to support athletic scholarships at UNT. We are helping about 350 scholarship athletes through these efforts. Hope you will want to be part of that and help by signing up to play, signing up to volunteer to help with the event, providing a game sponsorship, providing and item or two or three for the silent auction or by simply making a donation. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated. You can get any and all questions answered by simply PM'ing me here through GO MEAN GREEN.Com or a simple email to my office at: mmiller@ipi.org. Thanks for the support of this event...it matters to our scholarship athletes and to our program at UNT. -
Looking for better in the second half.

Really nice to see this win by the ladies...especially after trailing as they did. This team really seems to be coming together. May really be something come tournament time! Congratulations Ladies....well done!

An Elementary School?
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Yes...some folks tend to forget...or do so on purpose as it seems to justify their persopnal views on gun contral...that it takes willing thought from human beings to pull a trigger with the intent to harm another human being. The inconvenient truth that it is really seems to bother people who want to take presonal freedom and liberties away from law abiding citizens in the name of some "do gooder" legislation. These folks just have a hard time accepting that "bad guys" kill people with guns...the gun is the instrument, not the "killer". And, no...don't even go there...I am not speaking of our military, police and/or legal security folks here people...don't even try to go there! Once again...sensible and constitutional solutions can be found. They will not be found as long as emotions rule the day for these folks. -
An Elementary School?
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Interesting...when the nation's strictest gun legislation was enacted in Washington DC, the murder rate skyrocketed and did not come down until the Supreme Court ruled the ban unconstitutional. Source is an ex-Washington prosecutor....info is in the 1-17-13 issue of the Wall Street Journal. Also...here is a thought...it will not be the Republicans that squash stricter gun regulations in Congress...it will be the Dems. The last time the Dems pushed gun control through Congress, they darn near were swept out of office in the next general election. Reid knows this and he probvably will not want to see it happen again. Another thing to "hide and watch"...Question...will Obama try to use provisions of his massive Obamacare act to enforce stricter gun regulations? All in the guise of "public health issues". Think not...think again. Just something to ponder and watch for in coming months as O gets pushback on legislation from not only the R's bur the Dems as well. Many many Dems own handguns, high powered rifles, are NRA members, hunt, have CHL's, etc., etc. Many people would be very surprised to learn that gun ownership and 2nd Amendment issues are not strictly a R and/or conservative issue. Should be interesting for folks who watch this sort of thing closely. -
Hmmmmmm...point was about holding onto a 19 point lead, not overcoming one! SMU lost a 19 point lead, did not overcome one. You can ask So,. Miss about what it takes to overcome one...as that is what they just did against SMU. And, I am too lazy to look up the UNT recodes to see when the last time it happened. So, let me ask you (because I don't know)...when was the last time UNT LOST a 19 point lead? That very experienced HC at SMU can not "coach"" well enough to protect a 19 point lead. He needs to be fired immediately. The guy obviously cannot coach a lick! But, we have folks that just know SMU would beat UNT right now. Hmmmmmmmm. I guess we will really never know as SMU isn't on the schedule. Since someone felt my post was worth a -1 (why...I was knocking SMU after all?), maybe I should add that LSU is 0-3 in conference and UT women are now 0-5 in conference .... both with very experienced and VERY capable head coaches like Brown at SMU. Seems experience alone might just not be the panacea for all things. I know this upsets some folks, and I am in no way knocking either JJ or Aston...I am knocking those who think "experience" at the D1 level is all one needs to be successful coaching at a new school. Didn't that lady who coached Duke and then went to UT to coach the women have a national championship as well? Where is she coaching now?
-
Yep...if they could beat UNT right now, they best learn how to hold on to a 19 point lead. Darn those rookie head coaches, they just don't have the experience to coach at this level. In case anyone missed it, SMU is now 1-3 in conference after a decent number of early season wins against not so "challenging" opponents...SMU's overall record is: 11-8. And, yes, I would like UNT to be 11-8 right now...but I sort of think by the end of the season UNT will have a better conference record than SMU or LSU for that matter. Ok, well, that remains to be seen, but I would not be so fast as to announce that SMU would definitely beat UNT right now. Our guys are better than their guys! That's a fact, jack!

An Elementary School?
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
So...apples to oranges comparisons are good as long as they attempt to prove a point, yes? -
Can UNT? YES! Will UNT? Remains to be seen. Keeping all fingers and toes crosswed for a conference road win tonight! Go get 'em MEAN GREEN!

LSU fan with a question about Johnny Jones

90...surely you read my entire post before making this comment...you will note the quote "just remember, you guys were not lighting up the SEC before JJ got there". -
LSU fan with a question about Johnny Jones
KRAM1 replied to Chase LOLZORZ's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Wow! I can't believe a team hires an experienced, 20 win, D1 coach and then struggles a bit in the first year. I have been told that hiring that resume will always create a great winning program instantly. How can it be? The sky muSt be falling. Armageddon is upon us all! Hide the women and children. Seriously, UNT90 has a point for you to hang your at on. JJ has a knack of seeming to peak at the right time. Hold your horses grasshopper, you guys will be fine. Just remember, you really were not lighting up the SEC before JJ got there. Relax...enjoy the ride, support the Tigers...you will be OK with JJ at the helm. -
Have you seen the new BB practice facility?

Happy Birthday to LongJim and Mean Green Matt!
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
WOW...another two 'fer...this is great to see Mean green nation members celebrating on the same day! Happy birthday to a couple of great UNT supporters. Really happy you both remain on the "right side of the grass" even as you do creep up in years! Oh, and to heck with the cake...drink beer! Lots of beer to celebrate you day! Happy B'Day guys! -
That's a mighty big leap to take from reading that article.
