***OFFICIAL 2018 New Mexico Bowl Game Thread***
KRAM1 replied to RiseUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Just say NO to the MWC. No travel partners, no other Texas teams and terrible travel and time zone issues. Many folks are talking on here about not going to Albuquerque for the bowl game because of expense. Well, what do you think about the costs of traveling further than Albuquerque for every conference away game???? I'd rather stay in CUSA if the AAC isn't going to expand and invite UNT than go to the MWC. For me a slam dunk. I HATE the idea of possibly joining the MWC. Hate it I tell you!!!! -
George will be joining those Mean Green fans traveling to the New Mexico Bowl. I believe we are on the same plane.

New Mexico Bowl Watching Party - Killarney's Live - Irish Pub

OK...just trying to help a guy out here....easy rule to determine when to use “their” or “there”. When discussing people use “their”, but when discussing places use “there”. My elementary school teacher wife unit taught me that...well, I listened to her types to teach one of our grandsons. Thought it was a pretty sure fire way to keep it straight. -
WINNER!

Will do.....hope you are.

It isn’t over until that lady of some questionable perhaps love handle-esque weight sings. Just sayin.....

Just a public service announcement....remember that if you are a member of the UNT Alumni Association, you get a 10% discount at Barnes and Noble on campus. You just need to show them your membership card...yes, they need to see the membership card.

Just pondering the question of Seth’s potential leaving for a new gig because I have nothing better to do right now....really...nothing better. So, if he isn’t leaving....why hasn’t he said anything? Well, my “pondering” leads me to the possibility that he (and his new agent) are “testing the waters” to see what Seth’s HC “worth” is right now on the open market. This really is the first time he (and his agent) have been able to do that. No harm there (other than giving fans like me strokes and heart attacks) I guess and a decent business action. This might be setting him up for a nice little raise to stay while getting a decent feel of “worth and interest” for the future. The very near future in my opinion. Should Seth stay, I am thinking it is for one more year before the “right deal” lands in his lap. OK...pondering over for now.

DRC: Source confirms -- UNT headed to New Mexico Bowl

Well, I have to disagree a bit. I think the players will like this much more than if we had gotten Dallas or Frisco. Plus, it is at a time more of our fans can go (not much of a holiday family conflict) and is definitely close enough to drive if flights are too expensive. Team hotel (Marriott Albuquerque on Louisiana St) has rooms at a very decent rate (and much lower than I paid for NO last year). It is more of a destination than Dallas or Frisco for most our fans plus Santa Fe is only a short hour drive away. And, Santa Fe is a great place to visit...even for a few hours. The Plaza is great. Albuquerque has “old town” with a few nice restaurants, etc. For a quick out and back, the New Mexico Bowl provides a different environment than Dallas for a reasonable cost. So, I am good with it, and think the Utah St. match-up is a good one for us...a bit of a tough one too. Plus, I can make this one! So, it is a bingo for me. And, for some here...I believe Seth will be coaching the Mean Green in this bowl as he will be in September of 2019. -

I found several available direct flights on American Airlines and on SW Airlines. That was, however, a few hours ago. I ended up using my air miles on AA. Got round trips for two people for a total of $22.40 in fees. If there were “free seats” still available, there were plenty for sale in the range of $413.00 r/t each when I booked ours. Go to the airline sites themselves, not the Orbitz, etc. of the world. -

Why do you think it will be empty? Not far from either University. Should get some local attendees as well as it is an “early bowl” and USU is a top 25 team and we are pretty intriguing for some with out “QB story” and recent turn around. Plus, Mean Green will travel pretty well I believe. I know several that booked their hotel, airfare, etc. today...myself included. -
I think he is staying...one more year at least. He has been out talking with recruits. That, for me is a good sign. Certainly could be wrong, but my reasoning centers around these areas: 1. Mason Fine has one more year; 2. Great recruiting class; 3. He is making good money and may get a raise; 4. He wants to “win something” here first because UNT gave him his shot as a HC...a conference championship first and foremost; 5. He likes it here...his family is close; and 6. His close connection and ties to our great donor family ... the Loveless family. Sure, could be wrong. Often am when it comes to this sort of thing, but, in this case, I think he stays.

Climate chage report

HaHa! That's really funny. Doesn't fit my position at all on climate change, but heck...that is darn funny. Welcome back by the way. -

KRAM1 replied to GTWT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Or "indoctrinated" in climate science and related disciplines perhaps? There is a long history of scientists firmly "proving" one thing just to find out later, given more time and study and new factors, that what they "firmly believed" was in fact, not so "firm". See the simple argument on whether caffeine is good or bad for you as one small example. Or perhaps the once widely believed "fact" that the world was flat. I am guessing that over 97% of all scientists at the time had all the facts they needed to "prover" that the earth was flat. Yes, a long time ago, but still a case in point regarding scientific "facts". So, we all should perhaps "excuse" those skeptics among us that are not "convinced" regarding the science of climate change as yet. We will get there in plenty of time to "save the planet". History has shown us that if nothing else. Hey, Columbus' ships did not sail off the edge of the world...nor did Lief Erickson's either for that matter. Anyway, I am enjoying this discussion as it seems to have not turned into a spitting match of any kind (for the most part) and I, for one, am enjoying the discussion....both sides of it as well. -

Yes, indeedy, Sir, I do. Just throwing it out there as part of the whole climate change/pollution discussion. It was also an example, of just as you point out, that "man" is doing something about it. Don't think anyone in the discussion has gone to the extreme of a "no need to even do anything" position. -

No one suggested that the U.S. should not act...certainly not me. And, it appears that the U.S. is doing a great deal. My point is that the U.S. cannot and should not do it alone nor be forced through ridiculously one-sided pacts/treaties/agreements, etc. to do it alone or be held top any higher standard than any other nation. Point is...when is China going to be forced to comply? Russia? Mexico? India? Pakistan? Please, if you have it, show me how much each of those nations has lowered its CO2 emissions in the last thirteen years. CO2 from U.S. power sources down 30% since 2005. Please show me the data that indicates these other nations have done the same or better. You can throw in Venezuela, Iran, Iraq Japan and Korea (both North and South) if you like as well. And, the argument that the U.S. is a bigger "polluter" then these others such as India holds no water for me. Each of these nations pollute and each should be held accountable in lowering their emissions to at least match the U.S. Then and only then can we all say that we, as a community of nations, are all doing our point. And, of course no one here has acknowledged the recent report indicating that the "hole" in the ozone layer is shrinking. That's good news, right? So, some folks appear to be making a difference. Now, once we know exactly WHY the hole in the ozone is shrinking, then we will definitely be on to something. For the time being, the U.S. will "do its part", but hopefully will have leadership going forward that won't sign ridiculously one-sided "climate change agreements" and will attempt to hold other nations as accountable as the world seems to want the U.S. to be. Now that this is settled, can we talk about the undue burden on the U.S. that is the United Nations? Just kidding...we should talk about NATO or NAFTA......Ha! Just Kidding. -

Where was it ever said we should do nothing? And why not actually answer my question? And, that would be the Chinese, Russians, Indians, Pakistanis, Mexicans, Brazilians, Venezuelans, Canadians, Ukrainians, Japanese, North Koreans, South Koreans and on and on. -

Just playing devil’s advocate here...So, we should stay in bad international agreements that put the burden and expense squarely on the shoulders of the U.S. and let others like Russia, China, India, Mexico skate so we can “feel and look” good to the folks taking advantage of us and our naive politicians who agree to such one-way deals? Asking for a friend? 😂😂😂 -
Climate chage report
KRAM1 replied to GTWT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Sooooooo...what will be done about China, India, Mexico, Brazil, Russia and on and on? U.S. cannot solve this issue alone no matter what we do. How does one get these folks on board if, in fact, humans are the cause. Saw a report recently that the ozone layer was “healing”. That’s good, right? But, seems to me that this is a global issue and “global” doesn’t seem to be playing ball even after signing some “agreements on climate change” that like most U.N.-esque agreements place the majority of blame and burden on the U.S. Big issue. Going to take some smart folks to solve. And world governments that do more than sign worthless agreements that are not followed, but whose signers can claim how righteous they are all the while billowing tons and tons of co2 and other garbage. How we gonna fix that? Huh? 🤷♂️ -

I hate to weigh in....but here goes. I think the vast majority of people see/feel/know that some degree of climate change is most definitely is occurring. I think the difference people have is more in the cause of that change and not whether it is occurring or not. Just my two cents.
