  1. Still waiting on your paying for my bathroom remodel with that bet....so, is it 8 now? I was willing to go the $15,000 on your ten win deal...so I am really in with this 8 thing. We on? Enjoyed sitting with you....well really I enjoyed being with Wendy....and so did you! Ha! You are a lucky guy...how that really super lady puts up with you.....she is ready for sainthood NOW! See you at the GMG.Com BB ClAssic Three. Please bring Wendy with you!
  2. Seriously...and miss all these great P1 sermons? No way...I live to read this thread! Translation...we should shut this board down because not everyone agrees with GreenP1. Got it! Like others have been told many times...you are perfectly free to not read it if it pains you so much. Seems to me that's it has always been a personal choice. But, please don't leave us...there are times when I actually agree with you...as painful as that might be for both of us, right?
  3. I agree with Silver...it darn sure is about the money...but not about trying to buy Brown out...they have more than enough money at UT should they feel the need to replace Brown. Could be done in a nanosecond. Money is definitely not an issue should they decide to "go in another direction" with their HC.
  4. Yep...about as crazy as the many folks who were not big JJ fans in the past now claiming he was the second coming of Jesus Christ in a BB suit. Big stretch to say anyone is knocking what JJ did here, but so many are trying to hold the guy up for sainthood that it is as funny (?) as folks claim the opposite is on here. JJ did great things for this program, but I also recall seeing many of the same "let's anoint him for sainthood" folks once saying stuff like "good coach, but can't seem to get us past the first round", and other such nonsense. Nonsense is nonsense...no matter what reason one ascribes to regarding the recently concluded season. The "hyperbole and ignorance" certainly flows from both camps.
  5. And Overlander to name another with a firm grasp of reality. Perhaps you were talking about current starters?
  6. You are mistaken about the no discipline problems in prior years. Most decidedly wrong. JJ handled it differently. Maybe if he had not Alzee would have learned a bit faster about consequences.
  7. Well, as you know...we had little time to enjoy any "night life" in Hot Springs being that it was a one-and-done tourney for both teams.
  8. News Flash...Emmitt finally breaks out of his whine-fest and actually makes a joke!!!!! Well done!
  9. Apparently it is for some.....
  10. Hey, drex...why don't you just take a nice vacation somewhere and chill for a few days? Inside joke folks...get over it!
  11. DARN JJ...guy can't judge talent! UNT should have fired him for this mistake! Ha! Too bad, but happens all the time....some guys waste talent, some guys work to develop their talent. Congrats to young Mr. Stephens. If only.......
  12. Feel free to leave Hot Springs and head down the road to Baton Rouge and worship at the feet of JJ. Why live vicariously? When you get back you can let us know how things are done in Baton Rouge these days.
  13. I think it is really funny how some folks here give ZERO credit to RV for the great new Apogee Stadium. If you were even part way or somewhat connected to UNT in some way you would know how much and for how many years RV was working on that stadium. It takes a lot of different folks and a good bit of luck as well to make something like this happen. To discount any part of the situation or anyone who had a hand in its development just reeks of a personal agenda and a complete lack of understanding and knowledge about how this whole thing took place. Apogee sits as UNT's stadium due the the hard work of many people...all of whom every fan of the Mean Green Nation owe a good bit of gratitude and thanks.
  14. To even let a "school"...and I use that term loosely here...like AAA play in UIL sports is beyond the pale of stupidity! I suppose everyone at the UIL was afraid of lawsuits more than they were fairness. Should ALWAYS be an asterisk beside this "win". As long as such "schools" as AAA are allowed UIL BB will be a joke at whatever level they are allowed to compete within! Just my opinion...
  15. I am happy for JJ. I think he has shown pretty darn well with what he had to work with his first year at LSU. It's good to see him have some good wins and some close losses (see...Ole Miss) in some marquee games in his first year. Hopefully the fan base in LSU will feel good about his first year. I remind everyone that JJ left UNT...UNT did not leave JJ. This is the job JJ has always wanted, and he is "home" at LSU. Time will tell how he fares, but for his first season, i think the Tiger fan base should be pleased with what they have seen. Congrats JJ...good luck.
  16. I just wonder who these "fans" are that some folks are talking with? GreenP1 is 100% correct, our fan base can be pretty stupid. I just don't think it might be the same part of the fan base we are individually thinking about here. I have heard NO ONE say that TM's averages were not something that UNT could use again next season. I have heard some wonder where the TM avg's from the year before went. Even TM himself has mentioned as much. TM was/is an integral part of UNT's team...a big part, but I doubt we see him back next season based on some of the scuttlebutt I have heard recently. The selfish part of me sure wishes he would return, but the "reality" side of me understands that Tony's future lies in making his living playing professional BB be it in the NBA, NBADL, Europe or whatever comes. We can play all the games we want, and we can twist the "games" to fit our individual personal agendas, and that's just fine for a message board discussion, but that will not change the facts one way or the other. To those who think the train is off the rails for years to come, I would suggest a "wait and see" approach. For me, whenever the times comes to re-up my season tickets, it's a non-issue. My bride and I will be back in our same seats next season. I think we will have plenty of company at the Super Pit. But, it is always good to have even more company. And, I suppose we will see some new faces and say goodbye to some "old faces". Seems it is pretty much that way every year.
  17. Grant...when did Gil Brandt become "late"? If so, you might want to give him a call and let him know! (-:
  18. Just sayin....... I'll go with it...
  19. Who has said CJ hasn't bought in? That's one I haven't heard. Do think it humorous that some think some players will transfer out. While there may be an "invitation" to one or two to "transfer", I seriously doubt any will do so of their own accord.
  20. I would think there is a great chance of this happening for Will...seems odd to have him referred to as William...I think Will has earned the right to get a shot. Go get 'em Will...the Mean green Nation is in your corner!

  22. We can add Mitchell and Andy Maggard to our list of players! Welcome aboard guys. Really happy to have you with us for GMG.Com Bowl X!
  23. Seems pretty factual to me. I do believe that injuries are a factor in how one's season turns out. Ask any coach...pretty sure they will say that injuries play a role in any team sport. I think the majority of those who watch sports carefully would also agree that injuries play a role in how ones season goes on a year-by-year basis. I believe if you would ask the players on any team at any level you would also find that they feel injuries can play a big role in how the season turns out for their team as well. Especially in those teams where players cannot just be "brought in" from practice squads or other trades with other teams to fill the gaps. But, I guess if one feels that players are all the same and completely interchangeable, then, you might argure that injuries don't matter. If so, why the all-star and all-conference teams in the first place? All players would be the same, right? Damn the injuries, full speed ahead!
  24. WE are adding Mitchell and Andy Maggard and Justin John (ex-Cheer Squad member) to our roster of players and we have our third referee...Cheer Coach Tracy O'Neal's husband...sorry don't have his first name...has agreed to be our third ref. OK, just need a couple of additional players and we are set! We are "good to go" as is, but a couple more players can help with the substitution patterns for some of our more "in shape challenged" players! Just sayin..... Thanks to all who have stepped up so far to support this event and the great members of UNT'S Cheer Squad. It's going to be fun!
  25. In the neighborhood of 14...including you! Really appreciate your support and agreeing to play. With the number playing you can definitely "rest" and sub out as often as you feel you need to in order to "save" your legs for the run the next day! You can do this...you are young!
