The State Of Mean Green Basketball: PJ Hardwick To Transfer
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Eight years? Wow...you are still a rookie...give it another 20 years or so and we'll see how that wagon has rolled for ya! Ha! Really, appreciate the support...hope you understand UNT needs your continued support. -
How do you know that about Mitchell's potential millions? Word is that Tony very much enjoyed being a student at UNT. But, you are correct about our ex-athletes and the general giving pattern.....in the past that is...like a lot of things at UNT these days that is changing for the better as the AD and coaches reach out to ex-players.

The State Of Mean Green Basketball: PJ Hardwick To Transfer

Happy that everyone is happy with their own position. Buy...don't buy...your call. Me, I'm there and I'll enjoy supporting the Mean Green. You make your own call, but until this "what's in it for me, and I'll support you if you win or if you speak to me" attitude changes, UNT will indeed struggle. Your call. Make it and be happy with it...no problem. Lots of options for you and lots of places you can spend your time. It is OK afterall. We'll see you back when the bandwagon heads your way again. And,those who stayed will be happy to see you back. No problem. UNT needs all the fans we can get...bandwagon or not. -
Well, because that opinion is NOT shared by "just about everyone else who watched our team play". Don't let the few vocal lead you to believe it is the majority.

The State Of Mean Green Basketball: PJ Hardwick To Transfer
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think we will see good attendance next season...why not? It's UNT basketball and, like the coach or not, it's college basketball and it is OUR team. Players deserve our support.....as do UNT's coaching staffs and support personnel. Have heard folks say they will not attend another game until "this or that happens" fairly often in my many years of following the Mean green. Interesting that they are then seen at the next home game...or the next after a one game pout. Those predicting doom and gloom on the attendance front are simply underestimating the the fans and overestimating the number that have some problem with Coach Benford that is enough to keep them from coming to the games. be careful posting that you will not attend...makes one look a tad childish when they show up for the next game. Besides..college basketball in the new and re-designed C-USA will be a good and positive experience...new teams (at least some) with new possible rivalries...good stuff...worth the price of admission in my opinion. -
HA! HA! First throw will be at 10:00AM...registration will begin around 9AM...we must all be ready to go at 10:00AM for "kick-off".... See you saturday...BTW...have been told...no adult beverages allowed on the field during the game!!!! Just sayin.....

I believe that program continues today...that's the Athletic dept. working with Student Affairs.....
-
True..but that means actually doing something positive and not continuing the UNT tradition of just letting someone else do it while continuing to gripe about everything that is UNT.
-
I can tell you how this can change, but it would take more than just constantly complaining on a message board.
-
He's probably been reading GMG.Com. It can do that to a person.....
-
Less than 4000 transfer students does not a majority make in a student population of over 30,000. Even 4000 per year does not a majority make....
-
Transfers are no where near the largest segment of the student population. Athletics does work with Student Affairs; Feshmen students do go through an orientation that includes athletics...often an event at Apogee as well; Things are not the same as they were even five years ago. If you are going on info about UNT even 5 years old, you are way ourt of date; and This is not the same UNT, but it will take time to change a culture that has exisited since "forever". Always knocking the university, not supporting the university with your time, talent and/or treasure is not helping.

Gifts to UNT Athletics will fund new basketball practice facility
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The folks listed above are the one's who did the "heavy lifting" to make the practice facility happen. Others of us made much smaller contributions. As fans of the great Mean Green nation i want to say "thank you" to each and every member of the "team" listed above and to everyone who contributed to make this facility a reality! Well Done...great facility. These folks said "we can do this"...and they did. They did not wait around for someone else to step up...they stepped up! Thanks one and all. -
And, like last year...look for the GMG.Com Silent Auction to be set up near the Garage sale items. Come by and check out all the cool UNT and non-UNT items up for bid in the auction that is part of the GMG.Com Flag Football game. ALL proceeds go to UNT Athletics. Auction will be open for bidding until half-time of the spring game...winners can stop by after the half and pick up their items... Please try to stop by and at least take a look. Saw lots of folks in line for the garage sale last year who did not even come over to take a look-see at our auction items...won't take but a second to at least take a look-see. It's for a very good cause...UNT athletic scholarships. Thanks in advance for stopping by...and an even bigger thanks if you bid! ha!

Nebraska Spring Game
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Brought tears to my eyes. Memories for that young man, and I are say everyone on hand to witness it! Way to go Cornhuskers! May God grant young Mr. Hoffman a complete and permanent cure! And, God bless the Nebraska team for making this happen! -
Seems that's the sort of play that BB has had for a few years now. DT, however, has had actual D1 game day experience. That does mean something. I, for one, like the fact that UNT should be going into the season with three capable QB's.
-
Just do not understand why anyone thinks DT will just cede the starting job to anyone! DT looks really good right now...moving better after losing the weight and is doing a good job with his receivers who seem to be running better routes as well. Until someone actually outplays DT ( which isn't happening right now) this is DT's team. Just having the hype is not good enough. We'll see how this plays out, but don't be surprised if DT retains the starting role. I certainly will not be.

Can Benford ever recover from this past year?
KRAM1 replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Just a question...what's your problem with Hedlund? Seems he has been a pretty good and consistent winning coach for UNT. -
Thanks for posting this Green59. First article I read this morning in the DMN. Was really happy to see UNT get the PR and the location of the article in the paper. Very positive article. I like!
-
Oh, I'll be back in plenty of time for that...it's pretty much "good to go". Been working on it about 3-4 hours/day for the last couple of days...so, am in pretty good shape heading into it. I'll be back...in plenty of time!

Welcome to the Mean Green Nation, Coach P.
-
Thanks for hosting this event UNT 90 Grad. Would love to come...but, not to be boastful or anything..."cough cough"... I will be at the Master's Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia! Just sayin...... I'll be wearing UNT colors just to see who comes up and says, "hey UNT...I went to UNT". Happens to me all the time when I travel...even happened in Munich at Oktoberfest one year...The Mean green nation = Greatness! Thanks so much...folks...show up if you can and have a great time...perfect time to join or renew your Mean green Club memberships as well!
-
Anyone counting DT out as the starter knows very little about DT's ability to compete. Decision will be made one way or the other, but those thinking BB will just be handed the job don't know DT. I doubt anyone knows how this will settle out right now...not even the coaching staff. It will be settled on the field.

Really bad news. he was having a great spring. You could tell how upset he was at the scrimmage saturday when this happened. Good luck, Quenton. Get well soon. Hope you have a speedy and full recovery!
