Nice to see folks already so positive about the season that starts about 4 1/2 months from now. Some already planning their "jumping ship" routines. Like UNT90 says...only at North Texas.
-
Who is this "we" you talk of...I could not care less about some folks obsession with SMU.
-
Do you really have nothing better to do with your time than to stalk every post I make...seriously!

I predict the same line of "stuff" from the same group of folks. Hey, is this really even signing day?

Tony Benford video on camp for special needs adults, highlights
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Really great stuff here. The players and coaches made a real positive impact in giving of their time to make this happen. I am VERY proud of this and such as this should make the entire Mean Green Nation proud. Thanks to all who made this happen...took time and compassion to make this work for these folks. Well done...well done. The people who benefited from this could not care less how many wins and losses UNT had last season or will have next season, but they do care that UNT made a difference in these folks lives. A very positive one. Am very certain that a few new UNT fans were added to the Mean Green Nation. -
Inside and Outside Superpit Scoreboards Going Up
KRAM1 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Awesome, indeed. Thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen. Much needed and long anticipated improvements underway! -
Good for UTA. Hope she does well. Thanks for letting us all know Silver. I'll take "our guy's" experience and see where it leads in games vs UTA going forward. Nice get, UTA!

Student athletes have best GPA in more than 10 years
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Fantastic News! Great job student-athletes! You know, this sort of thing does not happen in a vacuum. There has to be an emphasis on academics from the AD down, with the ultimate responsibility falling upon the student-athletes themselves. GREAT JOB! This sort of news really makes me proud as very very few of these athletes will go on to have careers as professional athletes. But, as the NCAA ad says...they will be professionals in some career field. Great work students and great job from the department placing the emphasis on academics and providing tools and resources to make this happen. WELL DONE! -
Did not ask for a gold star, but you know where to find me. I'll just pretend the cookies you baked for me and brought to the GMG.Com flag football is my "gold star". You will note it was a post presented in response to a very personal and childish by someone who has no clue about me personally nor any idea of why i do what I do for UNT....and who really doesn't care to learn and will, most likely, continue to get his information third and fourth hand. He asked...I answered. Don't believe there was any mention of a "gold star". But, thanks for jumping in...can always count on your support!
-
Pretty childish of you Jim...wasn't even talking about you, but it seems the post hit real close to home for you...unlike you, I will not mention personal stuff like whether you are a Mean Green Club member or a season ticket holder or a donor at any level to the program...that is your business not mine, but get the chip off your shoulder. You know so much about me that you have no clue what profession I spent over thirty years working within. And, I never saw you around during the Fry era either! Who cares? Maybe we ran with a different crowd...you know, I recently just met a guy who has been around the program since 1961...we had never met, but shared stories of being at the same games in the late 60's and 70's. I saw Abner play while he was a student and athlete at UNT, did you? I was in a class with Joe Greene and watched all those MVC games at Fouts. I'll bet I can name at least a hundred folks who knew me at the time and still do that would not know who you are if you were standing right in front of them...what in the SAM hill would that prove? That you were not there? Ridiculous of you...just ridiculous. The reference to Hitler just shows how immature you can be. Stupid that was.... And, let's see...FRY ERA...yep I was there...Coach Fry even told me in person in an office of the local bank where I was working at the time that he was headed for Iowa BEFORE he announced it to the school and media...even drew the first "Fry styled Hawkeye" on a sheet of paper for us (I was one of his bankers at the time...knew him very well)...I was at the ice bowl game against Fla. State...I was part of the original "insurance program" that the Mean Green Club (in its early form) developed (did you contribute to that program or do you even know of its existence?)...ask greenjoe about that...my kid was a ball boy from the time he was about 10 all the way through his jr. high years during the era that mainly included Jimmy Gales (yep, they just let random folks walk out and have their kids be ball boys for umpteen straight years...check with Wendall, Deon, etc., etc.)...want to see a photo of him with Deon? I went by the name I have always gone by...Mark Miller...was a season ticket holder...want to see my name on the plaque of the donors who gave to turn the seats green at the super pit? It's on the wall of the Super Pit...have you been there lately???? Been around this place since 1965...yes, I did have to leave for a few years serving in the US Air Force and doing graduate work but paid my Alumni dues and donated to the athletic dept. and my academic department every year even when I was away. So, spout off about what you have no clue all you want...if the shoe fits for you...wear it, but don't jump on me after getting your info third hand. If you want to know the facts...you know where to find me. I'm usually around UNT somewhere...what about you? If you don't find me there...PM me...I'll give you my phone number and you can give me a call. Or, you can continue to get your info third and forth hand. WOW...you really went off on this one...seems I ruffled a feather or two...I wonder why? It was not directed at anyone in particular...that's why I named no names nor did I direct any part to "you" in the post AT ALL. Amazing reply...simply amazing. So, it's great if one wants to knock UNT and the Athletic Dept. at every turn, but let someone support it with the same enthusiasm and, in your book, that's wrong! Interesting...but, since you seem to get your info third and forth hand, what should one expect? Hang around with the negative crowd and it doesn't take long for one to also turn negative just. Thanks for the personal attack...very big of you. You are so far off base that you can't even see the place. Like I say...people can be part of the solution or part of the problem...personal choice...you win the lottery...you get to make yours...I win the lottery UNT gets a big piece immediately. It's about UNT for me, not about the folks currently running the place! It's my university. I support UNT and UNT needs OUR help. That's all that matters to me.

Probably as long as it will take many of UNT's "talk a lot, but do nothing" fans to step up and support the program with any of these three....time, talent and/or treasure! Talk is cheap and takes no effort. Actually doing something will make a difference. But, that is a concept that is lost on way too many from UNT it seems. People who continue to complain about everything UNT fail to understand the history that got us to where we are...and that is on the edge of bigger and better and growing daily. Supporters were "lost" in generations, we get them back one at a time. That hurts, but it is what it is. We can all decide to be part of the solution or we can decide to continue to be part of the problem. Personal choice...each of us makes a choice.

Well...if living on third hand info is good enough for you, great! This is nothing but talk...you nor I were there for those discussions. between Mac and Young. Would have thought that the years you have spent with DPS would have told you something about third hand info...I wonder if gramps was in the room at the time? Folks here can find anything and everything to knock UNT...get a highly rated QB, folks go gaga over...and then they turn to some kid who is playing elsewhere as the "one that got away", and the one who UNT "should" have signed. No one here has any clue if Young would have prospered at UNT or not, gotten knocked out in the spring, beaten DT out, etc., etc. All speculation, but around here that's all it takes it seems to crap on UNT.

Happy Birthday...one of the best!

Good God....so many of you folks want to live in the "what if" world and the "everything is better everywhere else world". You folks make my head hurt. QB will not be UNT's biggest area of weakness...UNT will be fine at QB. Much improved from the last few years and it will be for several reasons from the scheme, to the line to the defense...yes, UNT's defense can and will help UNT's offense. How anyone can know what so many of our "experts" seem to think they know about the Scotty Young situation is beyond me...were any of you actually in on those conversations? If not...you really do not know what all went down with this situation.

Terrible thread...some of the same folks knocking folks for daring to say that the BB players had even a little to do with the season's outcome, now jump all over DT after a spring game...a SPRING game mind you! Plus the folks most adamant that the players had nothing to do with the BB season's outcome remain silent here with DT taking so much flak. This competition will be won during fall ball...DT did a good bit this spring to solidify his position as starter (if you attended any practices and earlier scrimmages you saw some of this), but according to Coach Mac he is not naming a starter at this time. BB was injured most of the spring so it's pretty inconclusive from that side of the coing...apparantly McNulty has improved a good bit as well this spring. It is looking to me like we might see multiple QB's on the field this next year given the situation with one getting the majority of snaps. We'll see, we will all see. Those thinking DT is not capable of winning this battle just simply do not know DT, nor are they capable of getting past their emotions long enough to even try to see the improvements. Four wins? Ridiculous! I think we will all know soon enough...and that soon enough will be just prior to the Idaho game!

Thanks to everyone who played, volunteered, donated and sponsored this year's GMG.Com Bowl X. It was an epic in that soon to be LT. EMMITT'S team won for the first time on a late TD catch and run by none other than Brian Futrell. Final score was 9-7 in a close one..looks like defense actually ruled the day. While all silent auction and player fees are yet to be collected...no problem, they will be but it will take a day or two...or three or four...it appears that we were able to raise in excess of $4000.00 from the event this year! Great news I would think. Hey, not oly did Emmitt's team win, but we had an announcer, Tony DeSousa, for the very first time! Nice job, Tony. And, Jordan Case flipped the coin to start the game this year. How great is that? Also...a shout out to Emmitt for the great cookies! I hope everyone got to taste those things...all I can say is, the guy could sell them and make some decent bucks! Folks, all kidding aside...those things were greatness! State Fair prize winning capabilities for sure! Thanks for baking them and brining them...yummy! Your participation is very much appreciated! You made a positive contribution to the Mean Green program and, hopefully, you had fun doing it....I did! Hope to see everyone for GMG.Com Bowl XI next year!!!! Good News! Happy to hear this...you have work to do here Coach Lundy...let's get it done!

It is mainly in men's football and men's basketball where you see this "challenge". Many of the Olympic sports former players do give and many who did not have scholarships. Parents of players are another low percentage group of givers. But, this is changing at UNT and for the positive. I really appreciate all the former players who now get involved with the GMG.com flag football game as donors and the GMG.com basketball game as well. As a volunteer rep for the Mean Green Club I see signs of positive progress on this front as well. The athletic department and coaching staffs are reaching out to our former players, and that is definitely helping. One has only to take off their "everything is wrong with UNT blinders" to actually see the progress. Want to see some of these guys and some progress in person? Come to today's GMG.com flag Football game and stay for the Spring Game!

The God Particle
KRAM1 replied to GTWT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Darn, when I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about some of our basketball experts and how they got to be so all-knowing. Man, am I ever disappointed. -
The State Of Mean Green Basketball: PJ Hardwick To Transfer
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I guess that depends on one's definition of bandwagon fans...just because one posts on a message board...even for a number of years...certainly does not make them actual supporters of the program. Heck I know some that don't attend games for one reason or another and who are certainly close enough to do so, and others who want folks to think they are super fans but who do not even buy tickets or give to the Mean Green Club. So, define it as you wish..whatever works for you. All post here and have done so for any number of years. Talking the talk and walking the walk are really two different things. Bandwagon or not, we need all the fans and supporters we can get, so I have no problem with and wagon fans....unless, of course, they present themselves as the holy grail of UNT fans and live off stuff they did umpteen years ago....or never. UNT does not have enough rears in the seats to turn its nose up at any "fan". Bandwagon or not...until we can fill Apogee and the Super Pit on a regular basis we really need anyone...and everyone! -
So true, so very true! Alas it has come to this!

Enter before 9:30am on the student side ... Gates 2and 4 I am told for registration. Make your way down to the field. We will be set up on the visitors side.

No, Lonnie...we lacked the resources and the support. That's changing, but it won't happen overnight because we have way too many who think support is bitching on some message board and finding whatever lame excuse they can for not supporting the program. Until the support "grows up and becomes bigger time" it will be a slow go...we'll get there, just very slowly. Some folks cannot see the forest for the trees it seems. It's really OK if they don't. We'll get there, just much more slowly...that can change too. And seems to be all over the campus. Some will not ever decide to actually see the positives around them...that's OK as well. Others will, and UNT will build with those others. Personal choice to make.
