  1. Thanks, Cooley. I really appreciate the expertise without the drama that you and NT03 bring to recruiting discussions. I don't follow the recruiting wars much at all...only really interested AFTER a player commits and/or signs with UNT. So, when you or NT03 say a signee is a "wasted scholarship", I tend to pay attention. Appreciate your thoughts on Flannigan.
  2. Cooley...still wondering why you said that Flannigan (Flash) was a wasted ship". Really would like to have your thoughts on that. Are you talking about what you see in his abilities or is it something else?
  3. Poor guy! No way i would wear any of my Okie State stuff to Jazzfest. Can you imagine the beating I would take on here if i was spotted at Jazzfest (at the UNT beer booth perhaps) wearing any of my Okie State Orange stuff????
  4. I am surprised anyone noticed! ha! Just kidding my Hockey loving friends....
  5. Yep...that was common knowledge by all who paid any attention at all. That was no secret...he knew he was not going to be UNT's starter...he wants to start, and he has the ability to do so in some systems...like perhaps JJ's and/or Arky State's. PJ's transferring has much more to do with PJ and his wishes...as he said about furthering his basketball career than it does with UNT. Can't blame him at all if he thinks he can get more playing time elsewhere. I just wonder if it will actually happen at Arky State. For his sake, I sure hope so.
  6. Yep...good pick. I agree with P1...good bye Tanner.
  7. Will Atterberry has a very good chance to be on an NFL roster this season.
  8. Exactly...seems Coach Mac signed the QB he wanted to sign and the one he feels fits the need better at UNT. It happens all the time. I wish Scotty nothing but the best at La Tech unless he's playing UNT. But, since he is at La Tech I could not care less about the facts of his brief flirtation with UNT. Did not work out at UNT. Time to move along. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ On the other hand, he may be really sorry that he's not here.
  9. Sorry UNT90...I did speak one on one with PJ...but also with the coaching staff. I have learned first hand that distraught Mom's and third hand info is not always the most factual. Imagine that! But, if you want to carry on this drivel about being told not to shoot...go for it. Had not head the "I want to win" comment. Well, good luck with that at Arky State. One never knows how that will turn out at any university over a career. Do not and never have claimed to be close to PJ, but at least I heard directly from him. Can you say the same thing about your information? Of course, since he was still at UNT at the time and the season was still playing out he may have been saying what he said to "be nice" to a donor and fan, but I'll go with my "first hand" info rather than your third hand. I think we can all agree that we wish PJ nothing but the best at Arky State. Like I said...good kid, good player...but, according to him, not a good fit in the system UNT now employs. EDIT: Well, I see some folks just "can't handle the truth". Funny.....expected, but funny none the less.
  10. Talk about drivel...this crap about PJ being told not to shoot is total BS. The kid was not told that in spite of what the rumor mill wants to say. One can believe the rumor mill or one can actually talk to those involved. Fact is, they could not get PJ to shoot enough when in the proper spot and position to shoot. They talked to him about shot selection...which shots they did not want him taking and which shots he should start taking more (MORE)....sometimes things get lost in translation when it is passed around third hand. PJ had a place on this team, but chose to leave. His call. This happens all the time...read the sports page...it seems every day recently there are stories of kids transferring. Some from programs where our "Benford haters" have lauded coaches as ones they wish were coaching at UNT. Players transferring in college basketball is really not much news at all...want a close at hand example? See Larry Brown at SMU. Players want to play and they want to start in many cases. No biggie...PJ was not going to start at UNT barring injury. Kid can play...let him find a spot where he thinks he can succeed. If UNT's current style of play does not suit his game, it is probably best for all concerned that he does transfer out. This is a good kid, folks, let's all wish him well.
  11. You will find tons of kids at Jazzfest of all ages. It is definitely a kid friendly event. We often take "wee ones" with us when we attend and we took our kids for years running....no problems at all...lots of stuff for kids of all ages...hey, kids like music too, right?
  12. Good to see you and your daughter at Jazzfest this evening. Obviously, after meeting your daughter, we now know you did at least one thing right. Very nice young lady...I imagine she is pretty darn smart as well...brains and looks...wonder where both those came from? Hope you two had as good a time as we did. Fun times in Denton at Jazzfest....as usual. Get out ang go to Jazzfest folks, good music, great food, cold beer and arts, crafts and games...way cool. Take your lawn chairs out and chill a bit at Jazzfest.
  13. Hey...spell check doesn't catch it all.
  14. Keep voting folks....good PR and a bit of a wake up call for the folks at the DMN perhaps should Mac win this vote.
  15. Don't know a thing about this TE, but TE was a position of need for the Cowboys.
  16. Yea...that was a dumb post on my part ... Not knowing the situation at all. Have to apologize, but as to the fees...might want to check fees at other universities. UNT's overall cost is Very competitive and still a bargain when compared to comparable 4-year universities. Plus, lots of scholarships for "need" and academic achievement. Many students at UNT are not paying the full "fare" ... As you know. UNT is already looking into some pretty dramatic changes for the future in the way "education" will be delivered in the future. Many of these changes will benefit students in just the situation you note regarding your niece. Plus, going the JC route for the first two years is getting to be a very popular choice, and many of the Jucos now have very very good academic programs. All the best of luck to your niece.
  17. Good kid. Nice guy, but was not UNT's point guard of the future. Would have probably seen much more bench time going forward. Like Clarke, these guys want to play not sit around. I don't blame PJ for transferring...or Clarke. Hate to see them go, but, like I said, they want to play. Good luck to both P J and Clarke.
  18. Altering you? Is that even possible? If so...we need to talk. :-)
  19. Good seein you at Oak Strret Drafthouse this afternoon...wife & I enjoyed it. We always enjoy the Oak Street Drafthouse. Best little beer garden in Denton!
  20. Cooley...was told you said in another forum that the Flannigan scholarship was a wasted scholarship. I was wondering what your thoughts were on that? Tried to send you a PM with the question but you cannot receive PM's. I guess your box is full. Was hoping you might discuss why you feel it is a wasted scholarship a bit. I value your comments regarding BB.
  21. Going Big Time I see...funny and ironic at the same time.
  22. One thought here...should Mac win this vote, it might just give the Dallas Morning news a "hint" that they should give UNT a tad more coverage...since so many fans voted for Mac.
  23. Unfortunately, the eye problem cannot be fixed. But, yes, UNT's future is VERY bright indeed!
  24. And the ever increasing demand for college sports on TV by the sports crazed public. Not even to mention the fact that 80-90-100,000 folks show up week end and week out to watch college football in person. Think that demand has anything to do with rising costs? I do.
  25. Had not seen this...thanks, Harry. Mac got my vote. I am a member of the Mean Green Nation and Mac is our coach. No other possible vote for me. I join Harry in thanking those who support our coach in this vote!
