  1. Heading to Chicago and Wrigley Field for two Cubs games later this month...never been. Should be great fun...got tickets in the bleachers for one game (who can go to Wrigley and not sit in the bleachers at least once...baseball blasphemy if you did).. Love Camden Yards. Got to get to Fenway soon as well. They keep screwing up all the great ballparks. Arlington really is a great place to watch a game...no "history feel" for me, but a great place to enjoy a game. My favorite fields: 1) Wembley and Anfield 2) Munich 3) Ibrox 4) Celtic Park 5) Cardiff City 6) Coventry Oh, sorry...wrong sport...now, where was I???? Oh, yea...I am with you on the Brat thing UNT90...but at Wriggly I best i go for the Chicago Dog with the nuclear green relish and poppy seed bun.
  2. I believe there is under appreciated greatness in this post! Well played, Sir...well played!
  3. Agree 100% with you, Green59. I do, however, think the toughestpart of all this is what the legal ramifications might be with the DWI proceedings. It will all be determined soon enough. Hoping for the best for all concerned, and am VERY happy that young Mr. Abbe got through this with "only" the citation for DWI/DUI or whatever it is...and that no accident took place. For that we can all be very happy.
  4. Nor should Mac ask any of us for an opinion on how this should be handled. What I am sure about is that Mac is none to happy about young Me. Abbe's choices in the recent past. It will get handled, one way or the other, and some will think it was handled properly and some will not. But, it will be handled to the "satisfaction" of the folks actually involved. Tough calls to make...am very happy i am not the one actually having to make the call about Abbe's football future at UNT.
  5. unt campbell...sent you a PM about this... Check it out and let me know what you think!
  6. And, the outlook he has makes him oh so very different from many of the other posters on GMG.Com, how?
  7. Hmmmmm, well...THAT sucks. Do the Olympic sports folks have to sit out a year if they transfer to another D-1 program? I would guess so, but this just sucks for UNT. I know Texas has a strong program so good luck to Kimmy,. I know this stuff happens both ways, but, darn...just darn!
  8. So, if you count Puerto Rico as part of the US and with our Frisco HS signee, it appears that UNT is now to the point where the American players might actuallly take a look-see. Good news and shows how the program is improving. In the past it was hard to get Americxan players to even look at UNT....much less commit and sign. Way to go Coach lama and Company. It appears that good things are happening around UNT tennis these days!
  9. Not good news.
  10. Probably as I saw fewer than 100 fans at UNT home tennis matches attending at the matches I attended this season. Funny thing is...the matches are free of charge and they feed you! Ha! True...really great fun to watch as these ladies are really good.
  11. Solid enough for you to now renew those tickets? Can't see you missing out on a UNT BB season.
  12. Looks like a solid pick-up for Coach Pete and the ladies. Welcome to the Mean green nation Coach Blair. We'll do our very best to overlook that "SMU thing" you have going on your resume!
  13. Bring 'em on!
  14. As one can easily see from the responses to this thread...these sort of discussions never end well. Differences of opinion never seem to be respected (by either side) when such topis arise. It is one of the challenges we face in trying to get past predudice and bias in our society today in general. Neither side seems to be able to have a frank and open discussion of views where BOTH sides are at least respected. It is often that such discussions, if handled with respect and openess, can lead to real learning and soild understanding. Alas, never seems to happen that way here on GMG.Com.
  15. WOW...I made the video! Way cool. before the event started Coach Lama told me he expected UNT to play in College Station against TCU! The guy was "spot on" as that's exactly what happened. It was fun to be a part of that event....first NCAA Selection Show I have ever attended in person. Would love to attend tons more for UNT teams in the future. I believe there is one for men's golf this Monday as well...the first Coaches Caravan is Monday...wonder if they will show the selection event at the Coaches Caravan? Pretty cool having two UNT teams in NCAA Tournament selection shows within a week of each other!
  16. Chiefs...if I were a bettin' man!
  17. Over...6 wins minimum this time out! Go Mean Green...Why Not North Texas!!! EDIT: Someone doesn't want UNT to have a min. of 6 wins????? Really? Why not?
  18. Agree...another mistake after the mistake of posting it in the first place. Does no one any good and thus I said "if", but thank you for making everyone aware that this post was not from DT in the first place.
  19. I think you need to read up on your Switzerlad history...while there is much to admire about the country, they were actually far from neutral in WWII...especially in the way they treated Allied detainees as opposed to German detainees. They were pretty much cowered by the Germans and pretty much did their bidding to prevent being attacked. The Axis needed the Swiss for several reasons. Facts sort of punch holes in all that neutrality crap-o-la. Yes, the Germans screwed a great deal with Switzerland during WWII, and the Swiss govt. very much "favored" the Axis in cases involving wartime detainees. Interesting stuff.
  20. Really too bad you felt it appropriate to post the above. If DT sent this from his Twitter account, that is unfortunate as well, but why use this to try to criticize and demean another? To me, it's in as poor taste as those criticizing Collins for his decision to "come out".
  21. I was lucky enough to get to attend the selection event at Apogee this afternoon. Pretty cool. Very first NCAA selection show I have ever gotten to attend in person. Great to see the excitement and the number of folks in the room. Go UNT...beat TCU!
  22. Funny. I spoke with Coach Benford, Coach Evans, Coach Lundy and Coach Luster from men's basketball and Coach Petersen from women's BB and coach Chico from football yesterday while at the tournament. Coach Benford does not play golf, but he was there. I know both Coach Evans and Coach Luster played. Don't know about Coach Lundy. Petersen and Canales also played. I will also add that these folks showed up last Wednesday evening at Apogee as well to be part of the Mean Green Club Volunteer Rep Phone-A-Thon. It's great to talk with these coaches away from "work" situations. Much can be learned about what is going on with their programs and you get to see these guys just being themselves rather than coaches. Great stuff. We can all feel very good about the current status of both the men's and women's golf programs at UNT. Looks like the "glory days" of UNT golf are back! These kids CAN play and our golf coaches can Coach! Great stuff yesterday.
  23. Had another great day participating in the UNT Letterman's Association Don January Golf Tournament at the Trophy Club yesterday. hats off to Matt Phillips and so many other UNT staffers, coaches and players who help to make this such a successful event each year. Beautiful weather, fun course and great folks made the day just about perfect...except, of course, for some of those wayward shots I hit! It is amazing how much money this one-day event raises for UNT scholarships for our student-athletes. They announced at the post-tournament dinner that over $13,000 was raised on the "long-driving holes" alone this year. That is a new tournament record for this part of the tournament and is not part of the funds raised from players and sponsors. Even got some great swag in including a way cool Scrappy head cover for my driver. I was very proud to be part of this event yesterday. So many great fans and supporters just having a great day on the course and doing something positive for UNT at the same time. If you are a golfer, I would encourage you to play in this event next year if possible. It raises a nice chunk of change for the program and it is simply a lot of fun. Our Athletic department team does a great job of getting this event together each year and it shows! Thanks to all who participated and sponsored. You are part of the solution! Hope to see everyone again next year along with some new faces. FORE!!!!!!!!
  24. I'm thinking that this fan base is far from "spoiled".
