  1. Ever done a golf tournament before? I have...tons and tons of work to do it correctly, and it is why I did not create this event as a golf tournament nine years ago when we started these events, but I am up for this if you want to be the main thrust in running it...no problem doing two events. The more the merrier. If you want to meet to discuss the idea further, just let me know.
  2. Thanks THOR...I just knew you would be the first to "sign-up" to play. Hey, kickball should be quite compatible with "beverages"...just sayin'. Ha!
  3. Thank you...we should have a link up soon. If not, I will send you a PM. Give me a couple of days. Thank you so much. Appreciate your generous support.
  4. Yep...and nor is it their job to constantly print articles that show UNT in a bad light and never get UNT’s side of the story. Constantly biting the hand that feeds you eventually has a way of “returning the favor”. There is a fair and middle ground. However, the Daily seems to forget that. So, is that what our journalism majors are being taught these days? And, could we chat a bit about the possibility of proof-reading to possibly eliminate the mountains of typos in every edition? Are they not being taught about the benefits of proofreading before publishing? If the Daily is a training ground, let’s train them to BE journalists, and not “National Enquirer” writers.
  5. Happy to help you organize one. When you want to meet?
  6. Got our title sponsors back again this year. Thank you John Williams and Jeff Brightwell. EastSide/Oak Street and Dot’s will again be our title sponsors. Cannot thank these two enough for their generous support. Thank you, Sirs. Thank you!
  7. Excellent idea...Why don’t you plan one?
  8. OK, I know this isn't technically "Football", but the Cheer and Dance Teams both support football in a big way at UNT, so why not the football forum???? For this year's event, we have decided to try KICKBALL as a replacement for our basketball game. Why you ask? Well, basketball seemed to have started to "run its course", and frankly a few folks stopped participating and a few folks started to turn our friendly game into something akin to "hack attack". Plus, it was the general consensus that we needed to find a fun event that could broaden our base of participants...KICKBALL is it. WE are looking at a mid-April date (April 13th comes to mind but has not been approved as yet) as the softball team is out of town and the UNT Softball complex might...might...be available to us on the 13th. Much to be "approved" in that regard, but wanted to get the conversation started about this year's event... This will be our 9th year, and our second including the UNT Dancers, and we hope it will be our best ever! So, as usual, we need your help in making it a success for some hard-working student-athletes., WE need: 1) Players (min age 13 and open to male and female players of course), 2) Silent Auction Donations, 3) Sponsors - This year we have available Gold sponsorships at the $500 level - 2 available, Silver Sponsorships at the $300 level - 6 available and Bronze Sponsorships at the $100 level - 12 available.' 4) Helpers for set-up, game-day management, clean-up, etc. and 5) Umpires - 3 would be great. So, think about your schedule for mid-April (fingers crossed) and what you might be willing to do in support of the UNT Cheer and Dance teams. I really do think this year's event could be our best and most fun event ever. OK, there is your head's up. More to come as the planning develops.
  9. SHOOT THE BALL GRACE!!!!! 🙂
  10. The Daily these days seems to try very hard to show UNT in a bad light every chance it gets. And, they wonder why they have a bit of "funding" issue. And, good grief, who proofreads these articles before they are printed? They might want to rename the paper "The Daily Muliti-Typo".
  11. Does seem to look better. But, what will look a whole lot better is a new arena controlled by athletics that is up to date inside and out. Got to say...athletic facilities are really being upgraded! That is, indeed, a very good thing.
  12. Fantastic! Congrats! Great to see our Alums instilling the Mean Green spirit into their offspring. Way way too many of our Alums kiddos head off to "other places". And, yes, full disclosure here, mine did...a U.S. Military Academy, so I plead for understanding. And, yes, I do understand the multitude of legitimate reasons why some kiddos head elsewhere, but when we can...LongJim has the right idea. Ha! Way to go LongJim!
  13. Yesterday was Junior Day at UNT and several of the teams use Apogee in the early mornings for outdoor workouts...other than that...no clue. But, of course the wind turbines are supplying the power, right?
  14. I am a big fan of using tight ends as a piece of the puzzle and truly wish we would utilize our tight ends more in the offense...I think Mason would run the bootleg pass to the tight end well for a TD most every game instead of us trying to run it over the middle on third and 3-4 for inside the ten. Just me. I like tight ends...hello Jason Whitten!
  15. Thanks.....dumb...my bad....too used to thinking in finance terms I guess.
  16. We had approximately 150 UNT Alumni, students and staff visiting the capitol and individual representative and senator offices for the first time ever! This was the first ever UNT Day at the Capitol and I was very happy to have been part of the day. We were very well received in most every office we visited and a couple of the offices my team visited mentioned what a big impact we made gallery during the day's opening ceremonies with all our green AND in the number of people we had on hand. A very special day for UNT and I would encourage anyone who can to be part of this UNT Day event during the next session in two-years.
  17. I-Hop is a "small business"???? I thought I-Hop was a national chain.
  18. Umbrella perhaps..big golf-type. At least mine was...
  19. Alumni of a certain period. It wasn’t there during my undergraduate years. And, you are correct. It seems to be more about the memories than the food.
  20. Big win to start the season. This new HC just might be the real deal to get the program headed in the right direction. Great start for the team! Well done Mean Green!
  21. I watched about a half after the men's BB game last night...not bad, and it was good to see Daryl Johnston as the GM for the San Antonio Team. This AAF thing...by the way...must have some tie-in to the NFL as the NFL Network is showing a game this evening....and the new XFL. Just have to wonder how it will work out. Hard to compete with the machine that is the NFL.
  22. I give you Joe Greene Hall as an example...just do what he did for UNT. Simple...huh? I also give you Lane Rawlins Hall...this one a bit dubious if you as me...but no one asked me.
  23. You might start looking then....it appears this is a done deal. Sorry to see the Sub Hub go, but if we are honest...it isn't now what it once was. With the cash the owners will be getting, if they wish, they can certainly reopen elsewhere. I hope they do, but in all honesty...since the subs are not what they once were, I go only about once a quarter now and only when I am on that side of town anyway. No special trips just for the Sub Hub for this guy any longer. Don't want to "spoil" the wonderful memories I have of "back in the day" when it was the pure example of awesomeness.
  24. Duffy had one hip injured...then injured the other trying to compensate for the first injury. It appears he is recovering...is pretty much day to day now and could...could possibly see playing time by Saturday's game against WKY. Fingers crossed...of course.
