TEAMS NOW SET FOR FIRST EVER GMG.COM SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES!!!! WHITE TEAM untcampbell - Manager UNT90 Wendy (f) Rudy Emmitt01 NT03 O-Fresh (f) Limbs (f) curtissdaa YIPYKIA UNTAlumni.Com Green Crazy rws69 David GREEN TEAM Harry - Manager untgirl04 (f) forevereagle Ragemaster5000 HQ (f) THOR smoothfresh UNT88 Rico ArmyofDad ArmyofMom (f) UNT 90 Grad Will Vince Greg OK, let the trash talking begin...these teams look (on paper anyway) like two very evenly matched teams, so it is anyone's guess who will win this first ever GMG.Com Softball game. No matter...win-lose-draw...this is going to be a really fun event and so will be the tailgate after the game along with the silent auction. FUN times will be had by all. We could still use another umpire and additional sponsors and donors are always welcome. If you can't play, come on out and enjoy the game and be part of the tailgate and silent auction. Cheer on our softball warriors as they battle it out on the morning of July 13th at UNT's Lovelace softball complex (Mean Green Village - Bonnie Brae St.). First pitch is set for 10:00AM...registration begins at 9AM or a tad before.

Detroit Fans Thrilled about getting Tony Mitchell
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Good luck to TM. Here's hoping you make it big in Detroit and they very soon regret not being able to sign you to a guaranteed multi-year contract. Play big so you can get the heck out of Detroit. I hope the situation very quickly turns in your favor...contract-wise. -
You seem hung up on that number ten...as I recall you were suggesting TM to Portland at the 10th draft spot. Perhaps your prediction of less than 10 wins next season will turn out about like your 10 spot idea in the draft. Remind me to not go to Vegas with you! ha!

Indeed...well deserved recognition for one of the Mean Green's most passoniate of supporters..The very happiest of birthdays to you Silver! Your day...make it a great one!

The Chick-Fil-A controversy
KRAM1 replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
What was discriminatory about it? He was simply expressing his opinion of the SC decision. Does he not have every right to do so? Whether you or I agree with his position...it was not hateful in any way...simply the guys opinion. Seems i have seen and heard several others expressing the same view...or is it only OK to express your view if you agree with the decision? -
GOOD LUCK TONY!

Please provide me the link to the posts where folks said this? A tad bit of "over the top" this time, really...don't you think? I think we can all dig up post after post where folks complain about UNT not getting a series with SMU, but I think yours is the very first to ever complain about actually getting that series going again...you must not have been around during the "I'll play them in a Safeway parking lot" days. Here's the thing these days with many UNT "fans": "we Never Recruit Local Kids"...fact...we actually do recruit local kids...who often commit elsewhere to that the same folks reply..."we are always out recruited for kids in our own back yard". "we never play our local natural rivals"...we get a great series going with SMU and the same folks poo poo the deal and say it "hampers our ability to schedule" "We never recruit the 3-4-5 star kids"...fact...we recruit and offer them and some go on to commit elsewhere to which the same folks reply "we are losing out on all the recruiting battles"...never mind that UNT has won some of these battles as well. "we need to play more Texas teams so we can travel to games and have rival games"...we join CUSA and the same folks poo poo UTSA and claim they are not worthy opponents and then the same folks claim UTSA is already passing us by as is every other FBS school in Texas. Lord have mercy....this Mean Green "fan" base is some dysfunctional bunch these days...

Zimmerman_Martin Trial
KRAM1 replied to EagleGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Defense has not had a shot as yet. This has a long way to go and right now we are seeing only one side. Agree, however, that the prosecution has hit a few good shots to start the trial. But, prosecution often looks good at this point in lots of criminal trials. Way too early to ake any decisions, but the prosecution seems ready to go.... -
Absolutely agree. This is a great "get" for UNT in the way of scheduling. If you claim to be a UNT fan and you don't see the benefits in this series, well, you are simply trying really hard to find something to complain about in something that is clearly a positive. Some may be accused of wearing green colored glasses or drinking too much green Kool-Aid, but others it seems simply refuse to get their eyes checked and are drinking too much vinegar.

Raiders set for celebration of C-USA membership
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This...so many more people will be exposed to our new CUSA affiliation by combining these two events! Great and a great use of resources...in this the Denton community will actually be part of the CUSA celebration event. Certainly would not have been nearly as involved should UNT have done a stand alone event. Nice. -
When do we start winning the bigger recruiting battles?

News flash....we have our plate umpire...drum roll please....none other than UNTFlyer! Flyer let me know just today that he is available and would be willing to help by being our umpire! Many thanks Flyer...many will recall that Flyer often helps referee our GMG.COM Flag Football Game as well. Welcome aboard Ump!

KRAM1 replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
"It's not like it is hard to get a few". Seems to me the opposite of being hard is being easy. Since you say it is not hard...I just assumed you feel it must be easy. I believe you did, in fact, indicate that recuriting 3 star athletes was easy, but maybe not. You know, since it is "highly unusal for ANY school not to have at least one". No problem...perhaps I misunderstood what you meant by it not being hard...this recruiting thing. -
Indeed we do and I think we will!
-
Well...be still my heart...a somewhat positive post from UNT90 for a change...a welcome break from the constant "all bad UNT all the time". I knew that you really had not joined the "hater crowd" for eternity. More like the UNT90 we all know and appreciate. Well done...well done. Finally a reason to use a +1 on one of your posts...no, I don't use many -1's on your posts, but sure have not used many +1's recently either. Thank you...thank you! :-)

I was told that it was for personal and family reasons. Moving back to Oklahoma to work in the family business for awhile and spend more time with wife and kids. Understandable...being a D1 HC in any sport can be a stressful and very time consuming endeavor. Coach Hubbard did a good job in moving the program forward, and has laid a great foundation for UNT's next HC.
-
Good luck, Coach Hubbard. Thanks for the good job you did as head coach...you will be missed.
-
In case you missed the announcement, softball coach T J Hubbard has resigned as head coach for family and personal reasons. This will have no impact on our July 13th game...it is GAME ON! Good luck to Coach Hubbard who did a very nice job in raising the level of play and moving the UNT program forward. Coach, all the best...thank you for your good work...you will be missed.

When do we start winning the bigger recruiting battles?
KRAM1 replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
You Have lots of experience recruiting D1 players I assume as you seem to think it is easy for UNT to pick up 3 star recruits. In your experience recruiting is easy? Interesting how some here think that recruiting for UNT is easy at this time with the 3, 4 and 5 star players. From my fan's seat, it seems just the opposite to me...recruiting seems to be tough work to me and a tough road to walk especially when a program has not been that successful in a few years on the field. Agree that UNT has not won that many of the recruiting battles with the more highly recruited (that we fans know about), but the positive here is that UNT is now going after these more highly recruited "star rated" athletes. Rome was not built in a day and neither will the rebuilding of UNT's football recruiting successes be. Anyone who thinks this year's squad is not the best we will have seen in the way of quality "D1 athletes" in some time just has not been paying attention. -
GOOD NEWS FOLKS...we just picked up a couple of new players and a couple of new sponsors as well! AS for sponsors...we have BILLIARD SUPPLY who has stepped up to sponsor HOME PLATE! Thanks to UNT88 for helping with this sponsorship...very much appreciate the help! AND, UNTCAMPBELL has stepped up to sponsor 1st, 2nd and 3rd bases! So, as they say...we now have ALL THE BASES COVERED! And we have added three new players: David Vinny and Greg! Welcome aboard guys...happy to have you! I understands two of these guys are coming up from Houston to play! Super cool! Still could use a sponsor or two...need a tailgate sponsor at $100...or any part thereof to help off set the costs of that...still need a few auction items...and need an ump or two...trying to get UNTFlyer to Ump for us...if he is in town I think we have a good chance...Flyer???

Big USM Supporter Disses CUSA, FIU & North Texas In Particular
KRAM1 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Some folks it seems, at USM at least, actually put their money where their big mouths are. Doesn't seem to have made any difference at USM, but, hey the demand is there! Want to be "big time".... It now requires a $500 donation per seat on a season ticket application just to be placed on the wait list for season tickets at A&M. -
Fantastic! Great news....got you both down! Appreciate you getting the better half of this duo to sign up as well.

No way...you only make remarks about Greeks!

Understand...everyone loves a "consultant" so very much. Especially when they are hired to help "re-engineer" a business that is in serious need of help. Often, the current folks working in certain levels look none too kindly on those who want to tell them how to better do their jobs. Sort of like...those who can do...those who can't consult, right? A parody on the line professors and teachers often get...ever heard that one? I got a real taste of that in my last gig...had to "re-engineer" the entire financial side of the place...was not looked upon any too kindly by several of the then current staff! ha! Hang in their...pay them no mind...as you know...telling others how to better do their job always makes one a hero! ha!
