Check out Kram zip lining over the rain forest in Costa Rica!
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yep...my wife said they looked like and sounded like me! -
Guys...I appreciate the kind words, but these things do not happen without so many other folks helping, and, of course, you guys signing up to play. You know...I looked back at some old records, and since I became associated with these games several years ago (I just don't have records before then...and don't have complete records of the ones I have been involved in either), it appears that EE (and the operative word here is certainly "we") have raised in excess of $15,000 for various areas of UNT Athletics! That's not chicken feed! Thank you ALL...you are the ones who make it happen! Go Mean Green!

The first GMG.com softball game is tomorrow!
KRAM1 replied to untcampbell's topic in Mean Green Football
So...you are saying that the white team was faster? :-) -
So, what can I say but thanks so much to all who sponsored, played and volunteered to make the first ever GMG.Com World Seies of Softball a success! It was a great time...not only was the game a success, but how about that great brisket and those super hot dogs at the tailgate after te game? Greatness...pure greatness...thank you Dale Hiatt. In case you did not know it, Dale donated all the brisket and dogs...and did all the cooking as well! As for the game itself...much better quality of play than I think anyone really expected...the Green team won it 23-17 on a walk off grand slam tater by UNT88....Brian Futrell! What a great way to end the game...well, if you were on the green team I guess! :-). Lots of homers, some great fielding, and yes...a bit of comedy as well. The Home Run Derby prior to the game was won by GREG who hit three of six swings out of the park. Our second place honor went to none other than Emmitt01 who put two of six swings out! Now...for the reason the game is played...while I have a couple of auction items to collect...trust me...no problem there...the returns show that After all expenses, the UNT Softball Scholarship Fund will be receiving $1557.00 from the inaugural softball game! A really nice first game net folks....and could not have happened without our players, sponsors and volunteers! I am so proud to be part of a group of people willing to participate in these events to help provide scholarship funds for UNT student-athlete scholarships. You folks are the best! Hey...it was so much fun that even our umpires UNTFlyer and Marshall had a pretty darn easy time of it...I don't think even one spectator or player even booed them...not once! :-) Thanks again to all...it was a great day to be part of the Mean Green Nation! Thanks to untcampbell and Ragemaster5000 for helping to get this event set up and for all your help in seeing that it was a success! I think this event might just be a "keeper", and we add it to the series...what say you?

Looks like UNT has some great options coming off the bench along with a pretty darn solid starting five. Could make for a very interesting and enjoyable first CUSA campaign for the Mean Green and it's supporters.

I did wear a Mean Green poncho in the rain...it was a rain forest after all, and rained almost every day...I definitely had Mean Green gear with me...I always do when I travel and folks always seem to comment...yes, even in Costa Rica! -

Game On! Let's do this...see everyone at the field shortly. Looking forward to a fun event! Just think...you can all tell your grand kids and great grand kids that you were there at the first ever GoMeanGreen World Series of Softball event and you have the T-Shirt to prove it...please wash it between now and then if you want your grand kids to even get close to it! -

Ha! Old dogs can learn new tricks! Costa Rica rain forest....thirteen stations in and above the rain forest! Great views once you realize that darn line is actually not going to break....great fun..if you get a chance, give it a try! Had to make sure my wife was in front of me so she wouldn't unhook any of my safety hooks! -
Where'd you play high school football and when?
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Did some deep snapping (only one on the JV who could get it back to the punter) at Bryan Adams in Dallas, played a little center at all of about 165lbs and some middle and outside LB duties...transferred to Denton High for my senior season...Denton High was so bad that year that the coach actually welcomed me to the varisity squad immediately...without ever seeing me play! Ha! Little did he know...however...at that time folks played by the UIL rules and eventhough we moved for my dad's business I was declared inelligible to play! Really? Seriously, would have made ZERO difference...DHS went 0-fer that season (1965 football year). I managed the team and kept begging the coach to let me suit up for at least a game or two! Who would have known, right...and who would have cared? Well...nope...like I said, folks followed the rules then. Now, I would be eligible under current UIL rules.... Oh, well, my knees, shoulders, etc., etc. are great! So, maybe a blessing...still hacks me off that I did not get to play and that was over 48 years ago!!! Darn rules!!! By the way, our coach was the great Billy Ryan...namesake of Denton's second HS.- 61 replies

I know...I know. Bummer for me as well, but we need to "play nice" with these things so we can play again. Take comfort in the fact that you will have some time between innings! Trust me...I am going to need an adult beverage or two as well. -

Sure...because personal responsibility is so last year! Wonder where personal pride and responsibility comes into play in your world? I so wish I could blame someone else for all the mistakes I have made in life...what a great deal that would be. But, for me no matter how bad my boss might have been I was somehow held accountable for my personal production and attitude. Man, I was treated so unfairly. I only wish you had been my hiring guy! Ha! I know you don't believe this " one is not responsible for their own decisions and actions" stuff, but you seem to be hanging on to it just for arguments sake. Hey, I guess it makes for good theater and keeps the posting numbers high here on GMG.com.- 60 replies

Hey Plumm, take care of that stuff....but, just sayin...we haven't lost anyone yet, and a little exercise is good for the heart, lowers blood pressure and is good for that Type 2 stuff. And, if folks cannot play for whatever reason there are plenty of volunteer opportunities. But, Ainsley...it is fun! Hope you beat he Type 2 mess and thanks for the public service announcement....no pun intended..I hope it hits home to some who may not ave had a good and complete check-up in some time. Folks, Plumm does have a valid point here...GO GET A CHECK-UP NOW...if not for yourself then for your family and friends.- 61 replies

This is really bad news. While I hardly knew Brian...getting to meet him only once at Oak Street Ale House at a benefit event...I know that Brian was loved by many and will always be in many hearts. A great friend he was and those who were fortunate enough to call him friend and to be called "friend" by Brian are some very lucky people. May God grant Brian, Nicole and their family and friends peace. Try to remember the good times...as many there were I am sure. The Mean Green Nation mourns a lost member! God bless you, Brian. Rest in Peace. You fought the good fight against a merciless foe and held him at bay as long as possible. You won, Sir...you won.

Zimmerman_Martin Trial
KRAM1 replied to EagleGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Really don't know if he will or not, but at this point it sure appears that the prosecution has not proved a case of 2nd degree murder. What I wonder is this...will people accept the verdict no matter which way it goes? Doubtful. -

But, on the other hand, you don't feel that employees should shoulder any of the responsibility...or so it seems from your replies here. I guess that meshes well with your "players have no responsibility for their play and effort" while the coaching staff bears 100% of the responsibility. Would have loved to have worked under your supervisors! Gravy train deal..no responsibility and anything I screwed up would be the sole responsibility of my supervisor. Where do I sign up? Just having some fun...this thread really has run his course...time to go on to "bigger and better".- 60 replies

I find it odd that many who have posted about their HS football exploits have not joined us for the GMG.Com Flag Football Game...come on guys. Here's your personal invitation to next year's game...also...time for "two sacks of Kevin Kolb" to show up to play.- 61 replies

I agree with Harry here. However, if admins are going to post they should be held to the same +/- rating thing that everyone else is or the rating thing should be eliminated. Going to post...take your chances like the rest of us mere mortals.- 24 replies

NINE BOARDS!!! That is excellent...2 for 9 not so much, but the winner was the one that counted in this game. Made it happen when he and the team needed him to do so to get the game. Should help his cause. Way to go Tony!- 18 replies

Want everyone to welcome MeanGreenMarine to the house!
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Semper Fi Marine! Welcome to the board and thanks so much for your service to this great nation of ours. Appreciate your support for the Mean Green. Again...a Marine leading the way! Thank you for your service. -
Great job, Todd. Leading the way for the Collin County contingent....a growing contingent I might add! Much is owed to you for these efforts. I certainly know the effort made to make these events happen...way to lead the way! Really super news for the folks around Collin County! GO MEAN GREEN!
