  1. Some amazing comments here about Coach Monarch...but, you know..."only at Noth Texas". The guy is OUR new coach...for one, I am willing to give him all the support he needs to help the program. Welcome to the Mean Green Nation Coach. Hope you have learned from the past mistake...put it behind you now, and let's get on with coaching the Mean Green!
  2. Why is it that everytime you post in the basketball thread these days that the phrase "one trick pony" always comes to mind?
  3. Welcome to the Mean Green Nation Coach!
  4. What I like in reading this post thread is how many experts we have who "know" this and that...including the charater of both Zimmerman and martin who were no closer than several hundred miles from the scene, never set foot in courtroom, never met either of the two individuals, are not lawyers or judges, do not live in Florida or anywhere near the neighborhood in questioon...yet still somehow KNOW as facts everthing there is to know about the people involved and the case law. Man, we got some smart folks here! You know, because the media always protrays this stuff correctly and never ever has any sort of agenda.....everyone is welcome to their own opinions, but you don't actually KNOW. But, some very interesting and varied opinions here for sure.
  5. At the time he was referring to one was impacting the other. No motor effort=faulty skill set=questions regarding ability to play at the next level. Pretty much a case of a lack of "want to" impacting skills and abilities in a negative way. Start the motor and one sees a totally different TM. Does not matter what caused them to doubt, fact is that they doubted. I am guessing all but the most stubborn may have changed opinions since Hot Springs after seeing the motor on and clearly running at a speed we did not see for the majority of last season. You do recall the Lehigh game, right? No motor...bad results. Rookie ball....big motor ... Nice results.
  6. You don't really think this thread represents a debate....do you?
  7. YESSSSSSS.....well deserved honor! Great player...great guy. Real leader here folks. The Mean Green could use a few more just like Zach Orr.
  8. Well, being honest about it at that time, one can see why some may have said that. Why? Because that was during the time Tony himself said he was not motivated and not giving the effort he should be giving. Watching Tony play in the Rookie Summer League with the Pistons it would be hard for anyone, who was being honest and who would not let past history cloud their opinion, to believe that Tony's chances were anything but positive at this point. Hot Springs was a long time ago for aspiring Rookie NBA players.
  9. Good stuff here...thanks, Thor.
  10. You must run around with the wrong folks. Maybe you should think about hanging out with a more positive set of fans. Anyone who said Tony did not have the athletic ability or skill set was watching a different guy than TM. Never was a question of his ability or skill set. Don't even think the pro scouts questioned that. The only questions I ever recall were ones regarding motivation and effort. Looks like those may have been answered as well for now. As with most everything...time will tell. So far in rookie ball, so good.
  11. Yep! Edit: But, have you seen the dialog here on GMG.Com between folks who claim to all be UNT fans? ha!
  12. Some fair points made here folks...I, for one, have never gotten this UNT hates SMU and TCU stuff. I do not dislike either school. I only wish we could play them both consistently in football and basketball. I think it would be great for all the schools. I have found all the grads of both TCU and SMU that I know and/or have worked with to be just fine. Who cares if they have more or less money? The stereotype of rich SMU and TCU kids is no more solid than the reputation that UNT kids are all poor. BS! I know both SMU and TCU grads that come from the same income levels as UNT grads I know. And, yes, i know some that come from upper income families as I know many UNT grads who come from upper income families. This who tired old crap is just that. But, it make for good theater...and while most private schools have kids for wealthy families they also have kids from poor and middle class families. The tuition, indeed, is higher, but many many scholarships are also offered. The "inferiority" complex talk of some here is just NUTS. If you THINK you are inferior YOU ARE! I'll stack my two UNT degrees up against the degrees I have from other universities and I'll stack them up against any degree from any private school. They served me very well. Someone already alluded to this fact, but IT IS NOT WHERE YOUR DEGREE IS FROM THAT MATTERS IN THE LONG RUN, IT IS WHAT YOU DO WITH IT THAT MATTERS. And, in case you didn't realize it...you are in complete control of what you do with it. Some just need to get over the SMU/TCU stuff and realize most of it is just folks trying to get under one's skins as they say...seems to be working with some around GMG.Com land. Don't let it bother you and the trolls generally stop appearing....
  13. YES, Sir, INDDED! happy birthady!!! I assume harry sent you both a real cake like the one in the photo, right?
  14. Watch out OU? Really? Well, stranger things have happened...while Arkansas would have been popunded by OU last season as well, I would like nothing better (except a bowl game for the Mean Green of course) then to see ULM beat the snot out of OU!
  15. Really great to see these comments...a motivated Mitchell could be really hard to keep off the final Piston's roster. If he does make the final roster, I would predict that he would see decent playing time and continue to develop into a very solid NBA player. Time will tell how solid, but the early repost are VERY encouraging to see. Way to go Tony!
  16. Simple answer...no...not as yet anyway. Time will tell.
  17. Harry...great photo set. Thanks for posting these. Lots of smiles on those folks...why not? Having a good time and helping the Mean Green at the same time.
  18. Now, that's a great photo. Thanks to all who came out to support UNT and the softball scholarship fund. It was a great day and really fun to be around so many who care enough to help. Go Mean Green!
  19. I am thinking that you have way too much free time on your hands! :-). But, this is pretty funny.
  20. Really happy to have you with us and to get to meet you. This is one of the reasons I continue to help with these events...getting to meet fellow GMG.Com and Mean Green Nation members. Glad you enjoyed it...hopefully, next year will be even better!
  21. Lovelace Stadium...the UNT softball field. Hope to see you in the lineup next year.
  22. You posted this while playing in the GMG.Com Softball game...you, Sir, are the king of multi-tasking.
  23. Way to go Tony...seems to be off to a decent start with his pro career! Anyone else notice that young master smoothfresh was wearing a Tony Mitchell #9 pistons shirt today at the GMG.Com Softball game? Way cool...way cool.
  24. Now that is saying a lot, and I know you have watched UNT BB for more than a few years. Really hope you are mistaken on Flanigan.
