Lot's of "interesting" comments here...let's just wait and see how many of those expressing these interesting comments show up on the 17th to help "Hang Denton Green" with posters. Anyone taking bets? Always amazing to me how so many here always want to knock those that actually try to help as if it is some failing on the part of the volunteers who get up from behind their computer screens, give up some personal time and actually make an effort to be positive and spread the Mean Green gospel. But, as one of the guys who is often one of the those who does show up is likely to say..."only at North Texas"...I guess.

AS we chatted last evening after the Mean green Club Event...I checked the schedule and I will be there for the poster day event. Thanks for getting this set up...Slide Show Joe and I were planning the same thing for August 10th, but will simply come on out and volunteer for your gig on the 17th. Let's Do This... Thanks Joe..see you on the 17th. GO MEAN GREEN! BTW...sign me up for the Fuzzy tacos, Rooster's, Oak Street Draft House, Queenie's area...I wworked that area last year and had pretty nice success...I'd like a repeat please and thank you!

Well, I see folks who were not at the event have spoken up in their usual style. That's fine...no harm. It must give them a moment of comfort, so it's all good. But, maybe someone who did attend should add a little something. Good crowd this evening...much better than last year, and, for one, I really enjoyed the new format in that all Mean Green Club members were invited. Had the feel of a Mean green Club MEETING. Format included an introduction and thanks to the Reps from Jessica, then a short chat by RV (talked about how well UNT showed in a study produced by Texas A&M discussing the athletic departments in the country who get the most out of the budgets they have to work with...UNT came in 1st in the SunBelt and 6th in the nation overall). That's a good news-bad news deal for me...absolutely great that UNT is doing so well compared to other D1 schools with the funds it has available to it, but seems to indicate UNT has far too little in the way of funds to work with these days in its efforts to move up and forward. Jessica and Taryn presented the awards to this year's Mean Green Club Volunteer Representative Program winners...Lance White won the overall award this year, and Todd Samuels won this year's Mean Green Spirit Award. Congrats to both Lance and Todd for all their great work on behalf of our UNT student-athletes. And, my personal thanks and congratulations as well go to all the Mean green Club Volunteer Reps who have demonstrated their willingness to do what they can in support of the Mean green Club and UNT's student-athletes. Coach Mac then got up and gave another one of his patented speeches that pretty much kicked off the fall camp (begins with some meetings on Sunday with first practice on Monday). He did mention a couple of injuries (both previously announced), but said everyone else was "good to go" for fall camp. He seemed genuinely excited (doesn't he always?) about the arrival of fall camp and the approaching season...and he also mentioned (but did not name) a new verbal that he received just prior to coming into the Mean Green Club MEETING. Jessica, RV and Coach Mac also took time to thank the entire Mean Green Club membership who demonstrate their support for the Mean Green and do so much in support of the program. I did notice quite a few new faces in the crowd...and they were noticed by several others besides me as well. I think that was a highlight for me as new faces mean new support and that is, indeed, a very good thing. Always great to see the "regulars", but so exciting to see new faces and get to meet new members and fans of the Mean Green. Thor...you were missed as a fellow poster, "old guy student", was asking for you. Wanted to meet you, and probably talk a little beer and Oak Street Draft House...I probably made a poor substitute for you, but I tried. Sorry, you had to miss the event, THOR. I think you would have enjoyed it as much as I did. If anyone wants to add anything more specific, please do as THOR was not the only one who probably had to miss the event, but would have actually liked to have attended.

Yep...great stuff here...seems like they are a pretty close knit family and have raised their kids to work hard and to not take things for granted. Good get for the Mean Green!

Just like the Mean Green had with the recently graduated Troy Kokjohn. I may be one of the only fans who follow the long snapper, and believe the position is a critical one...best long snappers are usually those few people know...if you hear about a long snapper it is usually due to a mistake that "cost" the team. Too bad, as what these unsung and often under appreciated players do is so critical to special teams...and the team in general...success! Welcome aboard young Mr. Kyle. Young Mr. Dunham will follow in Troy Kokjohn's footsteps and will do just fine. Book it Mean Green fans!

Over 20,000...now the actual outcome may just have something to do with the won-loss column. Band wagon fans tend to drop off as the season progresses if things are not going well on the field...and the Mean Green needs all the band wagon fans to be on that band wagon for the entire year...so, let's get some wins at Apogee and on the road...strating with the Idaho game on August 31st! Be there to watch the 2013 Mean Green kick Idaho to kick-off its first CUSA season!

Well, since both the deep snapper and place kicker have already been taken...I will stick with the special teams guys and go with none other than #40 - PUNTER - Blake Macek! Going to be tough stepping into Will Atterberry's shoes, but pin 'em deep Blake! Love me some special teams guys...

There is a really good article about UNT Athletics and UNT football featuring the great C. Dan Smith is today's Denton Record-Chronicle. Hopefully, someone a tad more capable with these things can post a link to the article here for folks to use. It is really a good one and well worth the read. Some interesting comments and points made.

One of things going right for UNT and one of many. Getting great reviews as well....I thought I heard that a special Thursday night lights was held prior to this Friday Night Lights and included a group of 100 special invitees. Did I dream that or did it actually happen? Great job Coach Mac and Company!

Yep...torn up is a good word for it...both games, but much more so for Mexico-Panama. Really embarrassing the way Jerry World handled that field set up, and will probably keep the US men from returning to DFW for awhile...at least in considering Jerry World as a venue. BIG crowd and to have the field in that condition was uncalled for on any level. I do think FIFA should have stepped in and made some changes mandatory before play, but, as I understand it, the sod was laid on top of the concrete pretty late so the "grass" would not die out before the games. Sort of wonder what Mexico and Panama thought of playing on it. I think we all know what the US players have said about it!

Have been noticing that Coach mac seems to be without the sunglasses from time to time these days. As to his eye problems...well, they are "behind him" as much as they can be given the circumstances. Would assume the sunglasses will still be worn a good bit of the time, and especially outside, to protect his eyesight from any additional damage.

Agree...this is certainly the best run for the men's team and best play I have seen since Klinsman took over as head coach. They also seem to be enjoying playing together which is another factor, and yes, Donovan is looking really sharp at the moment. personally, i would like to have seen a USA-Mexico final, but Panama is playing well and has a good squad, so that makes the finals match-up probably a better game than if Mexico had won. Looking forward to Sunday's final...USA! USA! USA! on a side note...one would think that a semi-final at Jerry World would have warranted more attention to the field set up. The US men's team rarely plays in Dallas, and the way the field was set up for last evening's game will certainly not help the cause at all. A little surprised that FIFA gave the approval to just a layer of sod on top of concrete and a hastily laid field at that!

Seriously...I wished him happy birthday, but did not see the age...no way Rudy is 35. Guy must have found the fountain of youth. He'll probably be 65 before he looks 35 if the current trend holds.
