This is really great to see. Super that we see Mean Green folks helping and working with other Mean Green folks. Great job all!

Really...could an A&M "student" athlete be this absolutely stupid? This is a joke, right? Even a pee-wee football player knows that sort of thing is a no-no! Cannot believe even Little Johnny Football would be this plain ignorant.....stupid! Cannot wait to see how A&M handles this...already removed from tomorrow's media day appearance list...AND, dare I say it...how the NCAA handles this investigation. Anyone else think that even if he was this stupid that somehow his parents are allowed to repay the money. And somehow Little Johnny Football is back on the field in time for Alabama! We'll just hide and watch this one. You know, the NCAA being so "fair and balanced" the way it handles this sort of thing depending upon which school and/or player is being investigated.

That's the place! Do not ever ask for a chocolate shake! Those ladies will scare you to death .... Even topless! Greatness! Best to show up having more than just a few pints to drink! Alas...not how the bride and I were during our visit! All this and the hot dogs and polish dogs are actually VERY good as are the fresh cut fries...not big on the Cheese-Whiz type cheese for the fries...passed on that!
-
No...sorry....hard to believe DePaul would have more than one UNT guy, but, heck...the Mean Green Nation is EVERWHERE!
-
No surprise here...the surprise would be if the NCAA would not have investigated something while Little Johnny Football was still technically in college. Hey..he's not doing anything that the rest of us did not do in college, right? Don't know about you but I never even thought about selling my autograph? Ha! You think maybe that was because I got no closer to the playing field (in athletics) :-) than the stands! This kid is heading for trouble and it has as much to do with his family as his talent and associated overblown sense of entitlement.
-
Indeed...close miss here...glad you will be in Denton for the Idaho game...we are heading back to Denton. Safe flight!
-
Did not have tickets but the bride and I went to Murphy's for a beer and then the Goose Island Brew Pub at Wrigleyville for a cold 312 ... Or Two, and some pork sliders. Right in the shadow of Wrigley at game time...as always...GREAT atmosphere!
-
Rats..I think United is in terminal 2... American is Terminal 3....was hoping we had time to gab a beer! Safe journey...Go Mean Green!
-
Where....I am in the AA Admirals Club Lounge in terminal 3, K concourse! You anywhere near?

Can I get an Amen?

Since we had thread discussing some random Baylor fan's lack of knowledge I thought I just start one describing my experience wearing Mean Green gear while in the Chicago area this weekend. I sit at O'Hare waiting for our return flight with a bit Mean Green grin on my face. I had no less than six people come up to me in Chicago and in Indiana ( went there for a family function this weekend) and want to talk Mean Green. Two grads and three folks who knew of Coach Mac and wanted to talk a bit of UNT football. Then there was the guy who saw the shirt and thought "North Texas" was out near El Paso! Hey, can't win 'em all. I can tell you that it NEVER fails...whether in the US somewhere or as recently as in Costa Rica, when I wear my Mean Green Gear (which is pretty darn often on my trips) I always have people come up and want to talk UNT...no, not always athletics, but UNT. Really makes me proud of being a member of the Mean Green Nation. BTW ... One guy was right across the street from DePaul University in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago (yes, I was in that area going to The Wieners Circle Hot Dogs...if you know about this place, you know...if not goggle it you will laugh your rear off...unless folks having some fun...yes fun...with "racial" things and salty language...the dogs are great...the routine is unique to say the least). The guy was doing grad work at DePaul after undergrad at UNT. Wonder if I had been wearing Baylor stuff if anyone would have cared? Doubtful!

This....when I worked at the Cresent near downtown Dallas, I made events in Denton that started at 6pm. Don't see the big hue and cry.....if one wants to make it, they usually can. Is traffic a challenge...yep. Just part of living in the DFW Metroplx.

End of the world prophecies? Sounds like some of our UNT folks talking about men's basketball.
-
Welcome aboard, Coach. BTW, you have already accomplished the seemingly impossible...creating a thread where even the usual suspects have to be positive, happy and excited about something Mean Green. Keep this up and you will be a Mean Green Hall of Famer in no time at all. :-) Super excited to have you on board. Welcome to the Mean Green Nation!

Thanks for the update NT03....where do you find the time to keep up with all you do? Glad to have you doing this otherwise many, including me, would miss this great stuff. Congrats to Shannon on a great season. Do the Zetas or the Siencola (sp?) guys own that team?

Just the opposite for me, but same concept. My parents helped to pay the tuition and books...everything else was on me! Graduated with zero debt after an undergraduate and three graduate degrees. My Dad's quote was..."son, we'll pay for your schooling, but not your loving...go get a job!". Want a no-debt undergraduate Ivy League level education? Try one of the service academies. Great education, employment upon graduation and a network for business and social activities for life! Just wanted to add that as it was pretty much left out of the public vs private chat. Ha! Oh, there is that little commitment thing after one graduates that needs to be considered with a service academy.

You know, just what I expected. PM me if you want to know the facts and how the "sources" work here. Doubt I'll hear from you, but invitation is open. Will not post it in the open forum as I told the "source" I would not.
-
BS....AD had it correct at the time...only seems odd to those looking for another negative Mean Green spin, but keep playing and keep justifying the negative crap if it makes you feel better...like I sad..."you can't sand the truth".... So you refuse to hear it. Great....Spin it your your way.
-
If only there were "only" two on GMG.Com. Do not ever think the negative nilly's on GMG.Com speak for the vast majority of UNT Alums because they certainly do not.
-
Nope...not so much....still for the family...if you actually care...PM me...no need talking anymore about it here...folks here donn't really care what the truth is and wouldn't know it if it hit the right between the eyes. :-)
-
If you really want to know why..PM me...

Your now, some of these replies remind me of a certain Tom Cruise movie line...You want the truth...you can't stand the truth! Some of you folks would not know the truth ...or believe anything that is not of a negative nature...if hit hit you square in the nose. Who ever the FOOL was that gave me -1for letting folks know the story is so typical of the many so-called UNT fans these days..always looking for the negative. Too bad...sad and generally negative people always want something to be negative for some reason and it always seems to be the same folks. Every notice that? The info I posted is EXACTLY how it happened. Believe it...don't believe it, your call...it's just the facts. Heck, why should that matter to the "usual suspects"? Ha!

Just FYI....Coach Hubbard WAS NOT FIRED! If you think so, you are simply mistaken. This move was strictly a family move...less responsibilities than he had as a head coach, still in coaching as he wanted and a bunch...Bunch...more time for a young family AND a really nice raise. He fully intended to return to Oklahoma before this offer came up. It was indeed a family decision...no one was fired! Get it? Good. Good luck Coach Hubbard and thanks for what you did for the Mean Green!

I understand GreyEagle's concern...let me add another bit of perspective... First, not everyone with handwritten name tags had not RSVP'd...I know of more than a few who had RSVP'd but, for some reason did not have a pre-printed name tag. Second...history shows at UNT for this sort of event that many RSVP and don't show while others show and do not RSVP...so a little hard to guess the right number of tables and chairs given the history....but, yes, why not set up for this and have some overflow chairs available. I also saw several tables with chairs not being utilized, so do not know why folks did not come and sit in those chairs. Third...what a great and positive thing for a Mean Green Club event...too many people for the available chairs!! How often does that happen? Like...never! Really sorry you had a bit of a challenge finding a good seat...would have gladly given you my chair and would have happily stood. If this happens to you again...come find me and my chair is yours...but, hopefully, it will be such that this size crowd is the expected and not the unusual and there will be extra tables and chairs already set and ready. Again...sorry you ended up with a bad seat, GreyEagle...but thanks for the kind words and thanks for making the effort to come! Appreciate you!

This must be the commit that Coach Mac was referring to at the Mean Green Club Meeting last evening. Sounded excited about this kid. Welcome to the Mean Green!
