Razorback Fans Get Response From Coach Bielema.
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Plumm...I hear you, but did you go outside at 6pm? Still plenty darn hot...I was out in it...seemed just like it did at 4pm to me. And, I guess you haven't made it to the event recently as it is not outside...it is in the main concourse of Apogee and there has been a nice breeze blowing through the last couple of years that cooled it down quite a bit. Here's hoping that we have a breeze this year...and it is a Saturday, so most wanting to attend who are in town will be able to attend. Not too ate for the kids even. And still early enough for those folks with later evening events to attend in the metroplex. Like most things...no matter what time or what day there will be some that see it as inconvenient and others that love it. You simply cannot please everyone...especially those who are never happy about anything, and there are certainly those type of folks in every situation. You and I both know people like this. It is foolish ever trying to please them as you never can. And, they are usually in the minority anyway. I have, and I am sure you gave, have had to either re-arrange a schedule in order to be able to attend an event...or we ave simply had to miss the event. Happens to all of us. Here's hoping lots of people can and do attend. I, for one, go to support the student-athletes, Cheer Squad, Dance Squad, Band, etc. who are there and to meet and greet with other Mean Green fans and to meet new ones. I am lucky enough to be able to attend this year...has not been the case at times in the past. Hope to see you there, but I guess you might be playing a gig as it is a Saturday. -
Probably doesn't have one your size.

HOF worthy!

Got the posters for you today...will be in the mail tomorrow!

Well...not everyone has access to the rail system and some that do find having to transfer between trains a bit much...and takes a good while from Denton to get to the AAC...or whatever that place is called. And, just thinking of a "party" atmosphere type thing...but, I definitely see your point. may just be too much trouble and not worth the effort. Doubtful we could get enough folks to make it viable anyway...the bus I am talking about folks...not the Mean green Night at the game!

Indeed. While I think the Mean green is better than a third place prediction, I think this is a good spot to be placed in heading into the season...a tad bit of motivation coupled with a tad bit of respect already from the CUSA folks. So...all good. I am sure Coach Hedlund will use this predicted finish as proper motivation. GO UNT SOCCER!

YEP. Let's see who shows up. Hopefully a BIG crowd. Always enjoy these events and get to see some new Mean green fans every time. -
Is anything a "good thing" with you these days when it comes to UNT? Except for Wendy of course...that IS a good thing, yes?
-
And, let me remind everyone...these student Cheer Squad members do not receive scholarships as do many of the members of teams they were competing against...like OSU for example. Great job team, and another reason why the help we give through the GMG.Com basketball event each year is so welcome and so appreciated.

Razorback Fans Get Response From Coach Bielema.

Anyone who cares...feel free to head to Fayetteville and watch practice. -
Am told the $40 tickets are very good seats. Is that too high to be able to get 75 folks? Also...am wondering what it would cost to charter a bus that we could take to and from and have a bit of a party type atmosphere? May boost the cost way too high, but might be fun to at least see what the cost might be...would need more folks I would think, but it is a thought. Any feelings about this one way or the other?

PM me with your address and I'll see what I can do.

OK, I have been in touch with Liz Laupus (now with the Mavs recently with the UNT ticket office folks...great person...great staffer...sorry to lose her to the Mavs) if we want to get a group together for the Pistons-Mavs game on Jan. 26th and if we can book this early enough it is possible that we could get a "fan experience" in being able to sit court-side for the shoot around before the game! What a great deal that would be to have at least 75 UNT fans all wearing Mean Green Green sitting around court-side for the shoot around. There are only two of these packages per game and a minimum of 75 purchased tickets is required. The lowest group price I can find is $29 (probably before fees) in the upper upper Deck seats...next lowest in the upper Deck are $40...and lowest I can find in the lower level are $68 each. This pricing reflects a minimum purchase of 75 tickets. Can we do this...can we get 75 buyers? We would need to move fast and buy the tickets to be able to have the court-side shoot around experience...if that was not a concern we can wait longer to set this up. So...what say you? Who is IN and for how many tickets...or is this just a pipe dream that we could get 75 to actually purchase...that means shelling out the cash NOW for a game in January? I'm up for it, but can we get 75? Who is in?

And remember, this is the squad that several of you help support through the annual GMG.Com basketball game as players, sponsors, donors and volunteers. Your support helps these great Cheer Squad members know that the Mean Green Nation supports and appreciates what they do in support of UNT. Way to go Coach O'Neal and UNT Cheer. Good luck at Nationals.

Pack the place! Here's hoping T Mitch makes the final roster and we can give him a big Mean Green reception! Thanks for posting this Dozer...maybe we can get a group ticket thing going through the Mavs. No UNT game on Sunday, so no conflict there!

Are these really things one has to choose between? Heck...both are bad! 'Nuf said! -
Or the Spiriki Eagle head that all the players touch prior to heading onto the field...just sayin....

Imagine my surprise to find out that Lewisville and Flower Mound are neither "local" to Denton. Learn something every day. Having lived in Denton since 1965 (after moving from Dallas) I have always considered the DFW metroplex as "local". Since Lewisville, Flower Mound, Carrollton, Sanger, Pilot Point, etc. are not considered "local", I guess we now define local as Denton HS, Denton Guyer, Ryan HS and Lake Dallas. Oddly, Lake Dallas is included. OK, if that is the definition for this group, we can go with that...let the "local kids won't play here" bandwagon roll since it is such a small "local". Dang that Coach Mac...doesn't recruit local kids...but, he sure is making some inroads in those far far away places like Lewisville and Flower Mound! Travel expense for recruiting those guys must have been massive! Just having a little geographical fun here fellas....
-
Seems the old line that local kids won't play for North Texas is getting a run for its money with Coach Mac and company...maybe this experience coupled with the effects of Apogee and a new attitude around all of UNT overall is beginning to show some positive results with the "locals".....check out the 2014 committed list to date. Nine players with six of the nine from the DFW area...way cool! Here's hoping this trend continues. Fonzale Davis -wr-South Oak Cliff Chris Miles-ol-Lewisville Johnavhon Grahm-de-DeSoto Shaq Jackson-DT-DeSoto Brandon Garner-lb-Mansfield Timberview Jalen Montgomery-lb-Mesquite Looking good for the locals, and seems to be stacking up as a pretty darn nice class of recruits!

Since the point is to honor multiple eras, I think the flying worm on the white helmet works just fine and will be easily seen against the white helmet. Too bad it was "leaked" as I was looking forward to the surprise, but since it has been.....Yippeeeeeeee! Helmet sticker talk means Mean Green football is right around the corner. I think opening at home with these throwback uniforms will be greatness! Can't wait...be there!

Three Practices Open to The Public...
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Mack Brown is on a VERY HOT SEAT in Austin this year...his practices were almost always closed in previous years...lots of the UT faithful want Mack gone...perhaps he is trying to win a few of the grumpier fans over by letting them watch a practice or two. I guess at Tech they don't care because they are letting fans in it seems in the VERY COOL temps that surround late summer in Louisiana with a 3:45 practice time! Watch closely...if Mack wins big this year and all the "grumpies" re-join the band wagon, we will all see if he returns to closed practices or not. Who knows? We may be witnessing the "new and improved" Mack Brown here....could it be? But,oh, man... at Tech can people get there at 3:45PM???? They should never start anything earlier than when the folks coming from New Orleans should be able to make it. How dare they...all 25 folks who might have some limited interest in watching a PRACTICE and who are not relatives of the players. This is a tired old complaint coming from a very few disgruntled folks. If it makes them feel better to knock everything UNT does and try to show how everyone else does it better...which of course they do not...then so be it. Let them have their say. but I thought an entirely different board was created so these folks could just have their own pity party on a regular basis. I guess they get the biggest exposure on GMG.Com. I really do not see how open practices would have anything to do with increasing the fan base unless it was a "special open practice" with lots of hoopla and very little real work being done by the players and/coaches. More like a promo event. Other than player relatives, who but the "already sold" would want to attend practice sessions? Scrimmages seem to be much more interesting and it seems UNT has had more than a few of those open to the public under Coach Mac. I have been to a few myself. And, the attendance is not great...and everyone I saw there that I knew already had tickets or was a fan, etc. No big gathering of "potential fans" and really...some of those yakking the loudest about open practices were not there when I was either. You know...life happens sometimes, but I am sure it was because they couldn't get to Apogee in time because the scheduled scrimmage time was not convenient for THEM...not the players or coaches or anything like that...but them! One would think those yelling the loudest about open practices would make every one and especially every open scrimmage. Wouldn't you? Non-interested parties don't come to the games, so what makes anyone think a practice session would get them out? Really? Seriously? And, would it help to increase anyones Mean Green Club level donation? If someone can point to any data showing that "open practices" lead to increased attendance and to increased levels of giving, I would be open to reading them. maybe that data is out there, and it would be good to see if so, but i think those claiming it would help attendance, etc. are just using anecdotal "evidence". -
