  1. Thanks for posting this...looked pretty intense. Glad I can only be a spectator!
  2. Might be "old news" to some, but I heard yesterday that this year's version of the Coach Mac Radio Show will once again be broadcast from Rudy's in Denton (service road to I-35 going south at the Teasley Lane intersection) and that the first show will be MONDAY, AUGUST 26th. Sadly, i will miss the first show this year as I will be in San Diego visiting family! Already flying home early on the 30th so I don't have to miss the Idaho game...bride might kill me if I flew back even earlier to attend the radio show! ha! PACK the place this year folks...standing room only...we can do this...I know we can! Come out and support the program and have a great time chatting with other members of the great Mean green nation at the same time...and, who can pass up "Facebook with Poppy" live and in person??? Come on...you know you love it!
  3. CBL---HOF worthy here! Laughing my rear end off! Greatness!
  4. In this case the Alumni Association would be the "Powers that Be" and we would be very receptive...never claimed to be the first and will probably not be the last. Who cares? Looking forward to our chat. See you on the 17th big guy!
  5. At Mike...never! Sometimes folks just post things that show a real lack of knowledge and understanding. Just having some fun with Mike in sort of a sarcastic way I guess!
  6. Point is, Mike...that is not what you said...if you had said that I would have probably responded with...You know Mike I agree, but why not? Why shouldn't the Alumni Association plan some great events at Apogee for its Alums and students? Or at least try by starting to open the lines of communication for such things? You know, Willie Nelson played a concert in the Super Pit once and the University had no hand in planning nor executing that concert. Happens....I mention that as I have an autographed poster from that event from Willie...it is Hayden Fry green too! Priceless! It was a beneffit for the Center for Behavorial Studies as I recall....put on by Lewis and Rex Cauble. Yep...those guys... Say what you mean...seems you got your hand caught in the cookie jar here and now want to claim a different context. It's OK, like I said no offense taken, and just for your edification, my butt feels just fine...thank you very much!
  7. Did not get that a 5 game home season was in the offering. Seemed to me that he was saying 6 games each year. Let's all keep our fingers crossed.
  8. None taken, Mike. None at all...doubt I could ever be offensded by you. But just imagine my surprise to open this post and see that as an Alumni Association that we are not allowed to plan and hold events on the UNT campus...and that as President I have no authority to talk to folks like the Eli Young Band about such things for the Alumni Association. Gosh...who knew? I am just sorry to waste my time because all I guess I had to do was to ask you what the Association can and cannot do, and my job would be so very much easier! When we next meet would you be so kind as to bring me a list of those things the Association can and cannot do so we can save all this time and energy in looking to plan such events for Apogee and other places around campus...and off campus fot that matter? Man, what a time saver that will be. I had no clue you held the key to this... I guess I was way over the line to open that line of conversation with the band members themselevs while at Jerry World to present them their Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Silly me...seemed the perfect time to have them and their manager around and available for the initial discussion and gauge of interest. Oh well, should have run it by you first I guess. Thanks for enlightening me as to what my job description says regarding my duties and responsibilities. Always good to hear from those in the know about such things. See you on the 31st. I'll bring pen and paper.
  9. Thanks Harry...Thanks Evan. Very well done...professional, courteous and entertaining. Got a few tidbits out of it as well especially if you read between the lines on some of the responses. Time for this old guy to hit the sheets...Good Night Mean Green Nation wherever you are!
  10. Some pretty air company in that list. I take no offense here because on a national scale it might not mean that much, butI can bet that to the Mean Green Nation and to the Idaho fans this games is the most important game taking place on August 31st. Is for me. And guess what...don't care at all about lots of games in the Big Ten, SEC, Big XII, etc. taking place that same day. They make that top 10 list for me. I guess it depends on which team is YOUR team...but I get it.
  11. Ha..guess you missed the sarcasm.....
  12. Would you like me to hand you a towel? Actually, this one is pretty good. I'd +1 you if I could, but can't so consider this your +1 for the year!
  13. You seem to be fixated on that.........immature and childish, but one must just consider the source. I do give credit for some creativity, however, too Bad it has to be of the gutter variety. But, again, considering the source and some in the audience...it figures.
  14. LOL...very funny! You asked if anyone had..as the President of the UNT Alumni Association it was sort of an official ask! Ha! If you want to know what they said see me in person. No sense posting it here...the usual suspects would make some inane comment about it or some limerick would appear. Sorry if I did not meet your expectations of who talked to them, but you did not qualify your question. I thought the answer I got was pretty darn good. As with many things, there is much more to it than meets the eye as they were kind enough to explain in person. Yes, they do love UNT and often give UNT a shout out during their concert appearances. They are great and appropriate to honor with our Distinguished Young Alumni Award. I was honored to be able to present the award to them prior to their concert at Cowboys Stadium (AT&T Stadium now however).
  15. It's a mirage..we don't recruit local kids.
  16. Where is that limerick guy when you need him....something about staw arguments comes to mind here....
  17. One should do what they feel they should do. That really isn't that hard. Not sure constantly opining on a fan board really gets one anywhere. Yet, they just keep thinking it will. Brilliant! Sort of like pissin' into an oncoming wind. You get to piss but you usually get it all back over yourself! Takes a great mind to keep that up...but.....
  18. This...when will we see beer being sold at Apogee in the main concourse area? Will we see that this season? OK...let me help with the answer as well: " YES - PLEASE & THANK YOU!"
  19. Why is that "gold" in your opinion? It was no secret that I was a fan at the time of Coach Dodge. He WAS our coach...unlike some others I support our coaches while they are our coaches. And, what, you had to go back to 2009 and dredge up one of my old posts to try to make some inane point??? You really do need to get a life. Who the heck rang your bell and why? I voted the way I felt and would not change my vote today...who the hell cares now anyway...Oh, you! Why? Old news and nothing I would be ashamed of posting again at that time and under those circumstances. So what? And, what does it accomplish for you to post this? As I recall, and as you said, you wanted the hire of Coach Dodge in the first place. Great evaluator of HC's you are it turns out. Just like a lot of us who thought the hire was a good one at the time. Makes one think that this HC hiring stuff is pretty challenging to get right in the first place...maybe luck has a good bit to play as well as experience, knowledge and the big pile of money that UNT rarely seems to have!
  20. Well...there's one that won't be asked! Ha!
  21. Interview today for the open coaching position. Hopefully, something will be known soon enough.
  22. Yes...that is my concern as well. Some folks seem to think because he signed a contract that he will be on the squad come the season. Not so as yet. But, wanting to get a feel for who would be interested. It is too early to lay the cash down...thus have not mentioned that as yet or how it would work. As soon as we know about TM, we can get it going if we know who is interested.
  23. How about several beers? But, since you missed the whole geographical fun thing you might not be old enough to buy beer! Where can I meet you to pick up that six-pack. How about making it Goose Island 312? I won't have to share it with Thor as he doesn't care for wheat beers. Pity the lad. Somebody get greenminor a lemonade!
