  1. Just after the kickoff Cookout event at Apogee! Works! Thanks for the info.
  2. Local kid...interesting. Keeping fingers crossed.
  3. Nice to see this and hear from Brandon. Hopefully, the hard off-season work and new personal bests in off-season workouts will translate to wins on the court for the Mean Green!
  4. See you Saturday morning at the Pavilion! Let's do this!
  5. Anyone else catch Newy's sports segment last evening at the 10:00 O'Clock time slot? Thought the Mean green got good and positive coverage. Showed Coach Mac and a short clip of him at Media day, showed the throwback uniforms and talked briefly about the "100 year thing" and then ended saying some to the effect that he expected the Mean Green to do some good things this year in CUSA. Always good to see the Mean green get coverage (and positive in this case) by the local media. Anyone else catch anything on any of the other channels?
  6. Gee, they walked a whole half mile back! Really? A half mile and that is news? Folks, that is all of what, two laps around a track. Good gosh, they could have run that half mile back...heck, I could have run that half mile back. Just another "motivation" tool from another coach struggling to find a way to get his players to "buy in". Certainly nothing new here and I'd bet the players would gladly walk a whole half mile back every day if they cut practice short by 45 minutes each day. No wonder they were not allowed to talk about it as they would probably all be laughing and asking for the same "tough deal" the next day! Ha!
  7. SWEET! Love this...I actually had the pleasure of meeting Brian at the 2012 Alumni Awards banquet where he received the "Distinguished Young Alumni Award". Really nice guy and great recipient for this award. He even signed the page in the Awards program with his photo and award information for me. Really great guy and I cannot wait to see him in a Cowboy uniform along side Lance!
  8. Excited to have you visit the Mean Green Nation. I believe you will be warmly (and not just by the temps) welcomed by the Mean Green fans and that you will enjoy the pre-game tailgate and our great new stadium called Apogee Stadium. But, in all honesty, I hope you do not enjoy the game itself very much! Mean green really need an opening win at home in the worst of ways....WELCOME TO THE MEAN GREEN NATION. Looking forward to hosting you! Thanks for stopping by GMG.Com.
  9. I fully expect to see our senior, Derrick Thompson, as the Mean Green's starting QB on August 31st.
  10. Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!
  11. Serious? Good info here Christopher. Hey, seriously, you need to drive slowly by practice more often if you can even hear Coach Mac first hand from the road. Darn good ears you have there kid!
  12. Nope. RV has said they are auctioning them off after the game. One time wear for this uniform.
  13. I am thinking DW red shirts this year. Chico has said he is not ready...yet. We will see...future looks bright at QB if early reports hold.
  14. Could not agree more. Well said smoothfresh!
  15. I'll look forward to that story...hope to see you at the Kickoff-Cookout Saturday.
  16. And, just for the record. I could not care less what logo is on the helmet if any at all. Alabama does pretty well with none. All I want to see is some wins for the folks wearing whatever helmet the Mean Green is wearing...any color, any logo...just win with it! I'll leave all the uniform and logo discussions up to the fashion police here on GMG.Com. I have no knowledge of any team ever being denied a conference championship or bowl bid due to what logo happens to be on their helmets or what colors they use in what combinations. Until that happens, I'll stick to thinking more that the W's and L's have the most to do with it. When the program's challenges boil down to only what color and logo is used that would be a great thing...until then...not too darn important in my book.
  17. Do not totally disagree with you here at all. But, let me ask you this...do you work in branding at UNT? UNT seems to have a "unique" situation regarding branding...and that includes athletics. Happy to chat with you in private about this if you wish. Well, he may be referring to the challeges he has with the whole branding thing. And what he is allowed to use and not use by the university under the current branding outlines. Funny...quite the over simplication, but funny. When one doesn't have any info other than speculation and rumor, one often tends to over simplfy, but that's OK...only at North Texas, right? Keep this thought for our discussion Saturday. Looking forward to seeing...bring Wendy! :-)
  18. What makes you think this is entirely RV's call? You might just be surprised to find that things are not always as they seem on the outside. Defiant? Hardly.
  19. WOW! Nice banner ad. Certainly hope it helps to generate a good deal of business from the GMG.Com group. Helping fellow UNT grads is always a great thing and "paying it forward" for the folks who help support UNT is something we should all consider. This young man just recently graduated after a great career as a walk-on deep snapper and later as a scholarship player having earned that scholarship with his play and his work on and off the practice field and during game situations. In addition and as Harry noted, he is already a member of the Mean Green Club, the UNT letterman's Association and the UNT Alumni Association. One can only imagine the support UNT could generate if all its Lettermen and Alums were this supportive of their university. "Team player then...team player now" is a perfect way to describe Troy, but I would also add that he is a "LEADER" and a leader by example for his UNIVERSITY! Troy is certainly leading by example. Let's help Troy as he looks to find ways to help the Mean Green!
  20. And, yet...some find it appropriate to treat other Mean Green supporters that way today simply because they disagree on some points. Interesting. One would think such personal experiences would teach one something. Guess not.
  21. Ok, time for you to have some more Miller Lite...you need hydration!
  22. Three Floyd's Evil Power IPA......all that needs to be said!
  23. Believe our goalkeeper deserved pre-season recognition as well.
  24. Brought back some good memories here. Two kids from my son's select soccer team played in that game...one for each team...Jason Ball for UNT and a tight end for Utah State. After the game we had a team reunion at our house for both players, the rest of the team and their families...great fun1. UNT won and both kids had good games. Utah State allowed the kid on our team to stay over to attend and then fly back later on Sunday. Really great of them. Got to be with his family an extra day! Thanks for the memories UNT 90 Grad.
