MGB: Rawlins made case for increase in athletics budget
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
You are 100% correct here. Acta Non Verba! Talk is cheap and we have plenty of that around these days...it is the "doers" we need more of to take this program to the next level. Really proud of UNT90 (and many others) for being those "doers" we need. 90 does a ton of negative chat these days, but you can always rely on him to come through with action and support as well. He "votes" with his actions, so his "glass half empty" approach is respected because he is not " that guy" that is nothing but talk. His actions speak much louder than his words. -
Here's hoping some guys step forward and resolve some of the "who are the starter" questions coach Mac and company have leading up to the Idaho game. Go get 'me guys! Go Mean Green!

In reference to the Alumni Association logo not being approved by UNT for the use on hats ( and I will add here that I am only speculating but this has come up several times and we have been able to fix it through the Alumni Assoc.) it may have been because the university cannot approve it for use as they do not "own" that logo. The Alumni Association does. The Alumni Association is a 501©(3), so a separate organization entirely from the university itself. Many many alumni associations operate as such for some very good reasons that are beneficial to both the alumni associations and their respective universities. The use of the Alumni logo...the interlocking NT with the star in the center...is the property of the Alumni Assoc. As such the university cannot approve its use in these situations. Sadly, that logo is not part of the current UNT branding program...hence it has not been approved for use in athletic situations. This is something we would definitely like to see resolved in any future branding discussions and with the new support agreement set to be signed at the UNT Pavilion before the Idaho game, I get the feeling that it will be resolved sometime in the not so distant future. I am very excited about the new era of cooperation and joint efforts being made these days between the university and the alumni association. Anyway...carry on...some good hat talk here...

MGB: Rawlins made case for increase in athletics budget
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Well..at this point we have no idea how this will go. Being willing to at least explore the possibility is at least a positive move. They could have made an outright "no" answer. I'll take this and see where t goes. Will be interesting to see which BOR member is on the committee. -
And...it was Harry himself who started this thread in the football section. Got to love it...but, there are a few football/WBB dates similarities...like Nov. 9th and, of course Dec. 21st! Good looking schedule for the ladies. I like.

In no way should you judge all TCU fans and alums by this immature and very starved for attention troll. The vast majority of TCU fans are great folks. Froggy...well, not so much.

Many thanks to our two first-time season ticket buyers. And, a big shout out to those who continue to purcahse season tickets...way to go folks!

Your ears need checking if ,this is what it sounds like to you! I know a great guy that can fit you with hearing aids if you would like a referral. -

Ha! That's funny. Rick does a lot of work for the University...I seriously doubt he would risk that relationship to sell maybe 50-100 t-shirts. Although, I would be a buyer! -
Heck with those tickets, I want to see if I still have the same great parking space! Ha!

No problem...but if you are talking to me...that IS my opinion and that opinion is a valid part of the discussion. I could not care less about what plays in what perscentages...this is old hat...Coach Mac has said on may occasions that we wants about a 50-50 mix of pass and run. Me, sorry, but I don't care what the mix is...I just want to see a win. Although I do recall how boring UNT football was the last couple of years under the Dickey reign when we ran and ran and ran and ran some more...up the middle...up the middle...up the middle...or so it seemed. Probably deceptive, but I recall lots of "discussion" in the stands about the lack of excitement...win or lose. Yes, here comes a Hayden Fry reference...Hayden could lose a game and at least you had fun watching it, heck in the end Dickey could win one and you left bored to tears it seemed. SO, a 50-50 mix might be OK, as would boring Dickey football again as long as UNT won. Lots of attitudes about the "boring nature" of a Dickey win are probably long forgotten after these last, what, eight years of losing. You really had to be there in both eras to understand the difference between watching a Fry loss and a Dickey win compared to the last years under Dickey. maybe you were there...if so, you know what I mean and can understand my position in this discussion.

KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Hey...agree...except that this was how long ago? And, unfortunately for all of us...long before the new branding and licensing program was put into place by UNT. Just "doing it" now is not quite that realistic. It may be an "excuse" for you and whoever would go out and do these "underground" so to speak, but HIGHLY doubtful these could be produced today under proper "authority" and OK, nor could they be sold through any area of UNT...like the Apogee store for instance. Don't know if screen printers check this sort of thing or not, but lots here feel it would be easy to get done in a clandestine sort of way...hope they do...I am a buyer if they do. -

Wish it were as simple as "no reason". Alas, it is not. And, unfortunately it has ZERO to do with wanting your money or not! -

JRock....you already know the answer to your question. It is in no way up to the AD and the branding folks who CONTROL this stuff at UNT would never allow it...it is not an approved UNT logo. You already know the answer. We do need to chat! Ha! I love that shirt and would buy it in a heartbeat. Highly doubtful we will see it unless some enterprising underground entrepreneur found a way.....just sayin...... -
Now...that is some good logic here folks. Do we really care as long as whatever play is called is gaining positive yardage and leading to scores? Not me! Tired of losing...however the Mean Green get back to winning is plenty A-OK with me!

Me too..have watched the first three episodes so far....good stuff. Also try: House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Foyle's War All are on Netflix...good stuff. -
In a little piece in today DMN sports section there is a byline that reads "North Texas" on page 6C of the sports section...under that is the little headline "Women's basketball coach is hired". Imagine my surprise to find that Coach Petersen had left and that no one knew until a new coach was hired? But, wait...the story goes on to say, Tracey Kee.......". Ha, that paper cannot even get the sport correct. This is not the first time the DMN in recent days has gotten this sort of thing wrong...and not just in the sports section or regarding UNT. But, one has to wonder who is doing the proof reading for these guys these days? Does one have to wonder subscription rates continue to decline? Good news....UNT got press Bad news.....DMN screwed it up Oh well, at least I read it.....

Collegiate Licensing Company Names Top Selling Universities
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Believe it or not...one reason is the "unique" color of green the university selected for its branding program. Note I said the university, not the athletic dept. it is not a standard color that folks see...and it is not the standard kelly green. To produce stuff in the official color creates challenges for producers and requires a decent size minimum order...yep, even Nike has to specially produce the stuff. The minimum order thing works to keep local merchants from being able to purchase as the history has been that UNT folks don't buy UNT mocha dies. Couple the poor history of buying by the fans and students with the fact of the special green color and you seem to have a perfect storm. Like I have tried to say before...there is often much more to the situation than meets the eye. And, while these sort of challenges seem to be finally disappearing around the university, it will still be awhile before all have been beaten down. The younger fans have absolutely no idea what this university used to be I terms of support for athletics and for students for that matter. While many many challenges still exist they are being removed whenever possible. As an example, the Alumni Association will soon ink a new and comprehensive "support agreement" with the university that is a win-win, in my opinion, for both the Alumni Association AND the university. This would not have been possible even five years ago. And, even as the ink is not even dry on the new agreement, we are already seeing benefits and increased cooperation in many areas. So, here's hoping that when the current branding agreement expires that all affected parties will get a say and that the green color used will be a more recognizable and "normal" shade of green...like say, kell green. I doubt many folks would even notice the difference, but those that produce items in that color will definitely notice! -
Welcome to the Mean Green Nation Coach Kee! Hey Coach...saw you at he Athletic offices on the day of your interview. I liked that green you were wearing. Made an impression too...seemed to be like a natural for you. Glad you will be wearing hat green more often now!

Idaho Vandal fans talk UNT game...And We Talk Beer
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Many do in smaller groups. We tailgate in various areas around the stadium. You certainly will be welcome in our tailgate area, and we do share food and adult beverages with visiting fans and Mean Green fans alike. And, believe it or not, even those of us who seem to have challenges with each other from time to time on the board actually have a great time together at te games. Come on out to the tailgate area...some likevEmmitt and UNT 90 Grad and a few others even spend Friday nights in the tailgate area. Am sure thy would welcome you should you show up as early as Friday evening. Just look for the pop-up tents in the Apogee parking lots.- 146 replies
