  1. Maybe you missed it...if so, so did I...but the unveiling is said to be for the Northwood game. Unless there was a view on the new video board while I was looking elsewhere, I saw no preview...would have to have been a drawing....maybe it was posted on a wall near the silent auction? If so, did not see that either. Either you and I have poor observational skills or there was no preview.
  2. So wrong, but carry on.
  3. I believe the man said they were handing them out when you picked up your ticket for the game! As decent an indication of interest as there might be....nothing keeps one from picking up a towel at the stadium and the heading right back out to the hill. Six of one, half a dozen of another. First the bitch is, UNT never promotes it's games to its students, when they do, the bitch becomes they don't do it the right way! Only at North Texas.
  4. This is just another "everything is bad at UNT" opportunity for UNT90. Good God, man, do you wake up under a black cloud every single day these days? Geeeeezzzzzz. To think this is 100% the call of the AD shows a complete lack of understanding of the process involved at UNT from the top of the administration down. And, a very limited to zero knowledge of the ACB's various personalities. SMU...in case you have forgotten is a private instruction, UNT is a state public institution. There are some differences. And, do you have knowledge of how long SMU has been studying and working toward this conclusion? Doubtful. Could be they started several years ago and have just now finalized their decision. Cue the "everything is always bad at UNT" refrain...again....
  5. What? No! They can't be reaching out to the students....it's impossible. You mean they are promoting the game to the student body? Really? Sort of like other promos this season...sunglasses and all! OK, I know too easy...but, hey, this stuff is fun and really easy sometimes. I know it will "stick" a few who claim UNT "never" does this sort of thing, but it is important to note when the facts show that this sort of thing IS being done. Thanks for posting. Glad to see the reach out to the students...it being family weekend and all. Could it be possible, given decent weather, to see 20,000 plus at the game Saturday? Darn sure hope so...beat the MUTS!
  6. Hey...just because the guy has gone completely over to the dark side...Darth Vader loves the guy....does not mean that UNT90 is devoid of some pretty solid sports knowledge. Just wish he would stick to that instead of trying to make everything UNT into a negative these days. He definitely knows his stuff...when he takes the emotions out of it and sticks to reality that is. What he is saying here is pretty darn much spot on..as is the "I wish" from flyonthewall. If the bars are open in Baltimore's airport, we need to keep them open! This is what a discussion here should be like...opinions and ideas without the hate and emotions. Well done guys! Plus 1's for the house! Cheers!
  7. Students always get free admission. They pay for it through student athletic fees included when they pay their tuition. But, the good move is the promotion and the advertising of same to our students. Really nice move here. Hope it gets some traction with the students. Awareness helps...so would having little/no rain Saturday. One less excuse for not coming that way!
  8. Snowy...that shot must have been early or late as there were many more on the press box side at the height of the event than what appears here. I was watching that closely as all the free food and auction stuff was on the other side and felt that would be where the majority sat. They did, but the press box side did have quite a few more than is reflected in your photo. Love the photo by the way. Shows how bright that new scoreboard can be. Can't wait to see the new floor. Thanks for posting the photo.
  9. Great job here michagb! Your Student Alumni group is really looking good, and appears that this auction was a big success. I am still bummed about missing out on the metal eagle things, but that's what I get for being a minute behind the two guys who scooped those beauties up! Well done!

2300 at the tip-off event last evening. Larger crowd than last year's event.
  11. No..it was previously announced that the new floor would be unveiled for the Northwood game.
  12. Have no doubt you called...it's just the spin you put on the results of the call that will now always be called into question. That's what happens when folks try to decieve others to play to their own prejudices and negativity. But, did you find out how many suits JJ has now, if he owns or rents, if he prefers syrup or jelly? You should know...man crush and all...I am still very jealous that you are two-timing me with this man crush thing of yours. Come on man, pick one or the other!
  13. Anyone who claims to be a UNT fan and then goes to the OU-TX game or stays home to watch that game (or any other for that matter) is really not a UNT fan. No fan goes to another school's game and bypasses their own game given that they are in the proximity of the game. Not talking about those in distant areas...mainly focusing on the DFW area and surrounding counties. Talk about the definition of a fair weather fan (no pun intended)... That would be the classic example. Now, would folks with no real connection with either of the schools and just looking for a college game to attend..well, that's a different matter, and the OU-TX game could win out in that case...if they could get a ticket of course and wanted to fight the game and fair traffic.
  14. Maybe they just wanted to look at some others this game. It is pre-season after all, right? Several players to look at for that Pistons team. However, if these two stat lines continue, it could be a bad sign as far as making the final roster. I hear that the D League is in TM's future this season, but meangreenacct is correct when he says the Pistons do not have their own D League team. So, what happens if not the roster...and not the D League? Still holding out hope that TM makes the final roster.
  15. Agree...really fun seeing the O-Line's dinner segment at Coach Simmonds home. Really good stuff.
  16. Uniform talk in mid season...this is new. This is usually an off-season topic. We have become a bunch of fashionistas around here..not good!
  17. When did we go to the SEC? You know because recruiting to places like UNT, Ut-SA, Rice, Middle, etc. is just like recruiting at LSU, Kansas, Duke, etc. exactly the same...we are definitely recruiting the same kids with the same resources. Where is that private university owned jet UNT has like LSU and JJ has at their disposal? Point is..UNT is not LSU and to try to compare the two at this point in time us pretty nutty.
  18. Excellent crowd tonight! Very excited to see the turnout and excitement. This event was done very well and it came off very well. Even my wife, never prone to commenting on this sort of thing...one way or the other...commented as to how much fun it was and what a great crowd for the event. Food was good and free...pretty much a pig out for me...two hot dogs (grilled and courtesy of Wells Fargo), ice cream from Beth Marie's, sandwich (quarter) from Jimmy Johns, and Nachos from Los Torres (Ithink) and a diet coke...yep...all free! Step dancers and drum line were great... Teams each played a bit of scrimmage, then a three point contest and a dunk contest. Really enjoyed Flannigan and Walton. Flannigan won the slam dunk contest as well. Not much defense played as it was a scrimmage like last years. Jordan Williams looked, to me, ready to go as did CJ. Ladies are going to be fun to watch...on a side note I bought my first ever...ever...women's basketball season ticket today....ladies looked like they had spent some time in the weight room as well. Crowd looked bigger than several of the men's games crowds last season. Really good to see. Students, alums, families...yes, lots of kids out as well. Student Alumni Association auction had several really cool UNT union items...I went back to raise bids and found all the items I had bid on were purchased already by the "by it now" price! Bummer. But looked like the young alumni group had a good sale for their scholarship fund. Looking forward to hearing what the results actually were. Some really good UNT stuff! Saw lots of bidders, but you never know when it is time to "pay up" who returns. Anyway...really fun event for students, alums and families. I'll leave more of the player evaluations to those who are more experienced at such stuff. Hopefully, a few of you folks attended and can add details for us. Really glad I went...just to see the crowd and excitement if for no other reason. We'll see if the crowd holds and builds as the season goes along, but everyone should certainly be pleased with tonight's turnout. Well done event...lots of fun.
  19. If you need a red parking pass for this Saturday's MUTS game....let me know. I came upon one today and already have a pass. Need it...let me know...free, of course. PM me...first come first served.

Not to dig up the dead, but it seems I keep hearing about our terrible OCC home schedule...did yesterday and today again...as a justification for not coming and/or not buying season tickets. Has anyone compared the home OCC schedules over the last few years? I took a quick look-see for a few years late in JJ's career at UNT and here's what we had: 2009-10 Season - Don't see a lot of big name draws here Cameron Jackson State Univ. of the Southwest Southwestern Texas Southern 2010-2011 Season - 2 out of six...not bad...enough? Henderson State Texas Tech - one of the more fun games in recent memory to attend UTA - always a goodie Granbling State Jackson State Texas State Oklahoma Panhandle State 2011-2012 Season - 1 maybe 2 OK as far as "sellers"...the rest? St. Gregory Sam Houston State Jackson State Grambling LSU - another very bright spot for sure New Orleans I also recall playing and beating OSU at the Super Pit. I also recall some of the same folks "walking" on this year's home OCC schedule making similar comments about JJ's home OCC. scheduling.
  21. Thanks...had no clue how it ended for LSU...couldn't recall seeing them in the NCAA's.
  22. This...exactly this! Mac said this on the radio show the week we play the MUTS. Folks, you have all been around long enough to realize what this is and to take it for what it is...COACH SPEAK plain and simple. Have no clue why folks seem to always want to make something negative out of NOTHING.
  23. How far did they get last year?
  24. That is super cool! Excellent...just excellent!
