Temple Bar area...big red square way cool bar perhaps? Been there .... Done that ... Loved it! It's the area where I learned that I liked Smithwick's much more than Guiness. Perhaps a crime in Dublin, but draft Smithwick's rates right up there with Yuengling for me as more mass produced beverages go! BTW...I like Houston about as much as you seem to like the place. LOL with your thread fun here.
  2. I would think having opposing players fall down to keep from scoring would be a ton more humiliating than getting beat 91-0.
  3. This just might be the most HOF worthy post created this year!
  4. I like both. Decent promos.
  5. Excellent...will be there tomorrow! Thanks!
  6. Where did you buy it! Apogee? Going to get two...one for the bride as well. It will be a big surprise...sort of like flowers on Valentines or diamonds on the anniversary, right?
  7. Making a difference for us both on and off the field. Saw the Newy segment last evening at 10pm. I have to believe that Mac being pretty media friendly has helped get the Mean Green more air time. That and the fact that UNT is now in CUSA and actually winning a few games! Apogee doesn't hurt either!
  8. Did he replace a certain mod or two? Welcome Tony...does this mean you can now post snide comments without the +1/-1 thing being racked up against and/or for you? Cool. Glad to have you. Wear that scarlet "M" with pride. Better...much better...you than me! Ha!
  9. Nice line up of activities and events. Hope the weather holds and makes it another great evening at Apogee...that and beating Rice and all.
  10. Babe just did a segment on the Mean Green on his 6PM Sports Segment. Do not know if it will repeat at 10 PM or not, but great to see the continuing PR coming UNT's way these days. Talked about UNT being the homecoming opponent for both La Tech and So Miss. McCarney said it's no secret why they scheduled UNTfor homecoming. OK, so, that about a servers that question for me. Babe ended the segment by saying...."I like Dan McCarney".... Music to my ears to hear Babe say that...might mean even more TV time in the future on Babe's show! Go beat Southern Miss! Make it happen Mean Green! Thank you Babe and Channel 11.
  11. Agree... Way too many bowls. Way too many, but could we wait to reduce the number, please, until UNT gets the shot to play in a few? Just satin ....
  12. Some interesting perspectives here. I recall several here questioning UNT's decision to offer this kid, and now it's not appropriate to think he may have "over signed" going to the Big. XII? OK.. So be it, but I do think there are some pretty good thoughts and responses in this thread making it a decent read.
  13. Hope he is not one of those kids who see Big XII, SEC, etc. and sign for the "bright lights", then find they are relegated to the scout team or third team and sit until they decide to transfer. Good luck to young Mr. White. Can't help, however, but think I'll be reading about your decision to transfer in a year or so. Hope not, but really doubt many kids from DeSoto have always wanted to attend TCU. Sounds like kid logic to me, but congrats and good luck.
  14. Just saw a nice little segment on UNT football on the 10pm Ch 5 News with Newy Scruggs. Had the great TD pass from the La Tech game, had Mac on talking in his news conference and mentioned the So Miss game...said you have to beat the winless teams...something like go beat them. Gotta have it! Really great to see this...had UT and UNT on...no SMU, no TCU, no UTA...had UNT! Thanks Newy and thanks to channel 5.
  15. Double your pleasure, double your fun!
  16. Earned it! Well done Zac!
  17. Good points. Thinking this might just be the "best answer" going. Did UNT schedule UTEP for homecoming because UNT thought UTEP was the "easiest" game on the schedule? Or, perhaps more to what is mentioned here? I really don't know, but fans better turn out big for homecoming and make some noise...insult to UTEP or not!
  18. Part of UNT's media challenges lie in the fact that SMU IS Dallas in the minds of many just like (but to a lessor degree) TCU is FT. Worth. And, believe it or not, many in the DFW area still think Denton is far far away and not really part of the metroplex. Amazing, but true. SMU has been connected to the history of Dallas for as long as anyone can recall. Not surprising that SMU does better with the Dallas Media than does UNT. Don't like it, but true. However, being honest, UNT is doing better these days with local media outlets in general. Will most likely never pass SMU in the Dallas or TCU in the FT. Worth media outlets, but getting more fans into Apogee will help, calling and writing the local outlets will help (not not just complaining about no coverage, but praising coverage as well), winning games and bowls will definitely help (already is), and showing support for UNT in public places will help as will growing our watch parties and local events. As UNT supporters we can help, and appears to me that we are beginning to do just that. Couple all that with CUSA and some nice wins...and UNT gets more media attention. But, remember, having its own newspaper gives the local media a bit of "cover"as well. The DRC is seen as the main print media for UNT. And, the DRC is owned by the same folks that own the Dallas Morning News. Many Dentonites subscribe to and/or read both.
  19. Yep...sounds like a kid thought of as being recruited for a QB position. I agree that UNT90 was not indicating that UNT should lie to the kid, but kids are lied to all the time during the recruiting process, and I think that is something that should not ever happen. Lose one to the truth, so be it. Getting an unhappy one because he was lied to is not such a good thing. Just my opinion. Lots here, myself included, think this kid, playing D1 ball, has a bright future....except most likely NOT at QB. I think he should be told so and recruited for the position the staff feels he will play in college. I am guessing the kid already knows that QB is not in his future, but you never know it seems. I'll leave it to the coaches and the kid...here's hoping he makes the right decision for himself...and that would, of course, be....NORTH TEXAS.
  20. Sounds like the appropriate approach to me. I just don't like trying to mislead these recruits. I think it absolutely sends the wrong message and could very well come back to haunt the program. If you lose a recruit by telling them the full truth, well, so be it. Win with integrity...can be done...starting with the recruiting process.
  21. I guess someone always has to be someone's homecoming game opponent...every college I know of has a homecoming game each year. If it's an insult, there sure are a lot of teams being insulted every year. I guess I just never thought of it as such. Thanks. Going to ask a few of my friends who played and get that perspective as well. Would be an interesting study to see which teams are selected in each conference as homecoming opponents most often.
  22. Thanks...appreciate the perspective.
  23. Embrace the day...it's going to be great at Apogee!
  24. I would say, from my experience, that during a watch party with lots of UNT folks, that it would be more than enough family friendly. I assume one can bring wee ones into a watering hole in Denton that does not serve food. Adman...help me out here as I have been in some cities that do not allow wee ones in watering holes that don't serve food...even if the wee ones are with their parents. Odd...yes, just don't know the rules for that in Denton.
