  1. Proof please...on Fran that is. Can you come up with a Fran quote where he said straight out that he wanted the job and had made that known BEFORE the Benford hire? Any quotes from RV about being contacted by Fran or his agent? Anything. I have heard this line constantly, but have not seen any proof. Would be interesting. Not questioning this line of thought, just asking as I have been told there was not serious interest from Fran. Talk in the media is always suspect...let's see the facts if possible. Interesting...very interesting. Not some yahoos's hot sports opinion...but something from the folks in question. Again, not questioning that it might have happened, just would like to see some facts...not opinions. Like I say, lots of talk
  2. You obviously have not been following my posts from last year on if you think you are alone. You may be "brave'" to actually express a different view from the haters we have on here, but you are not alone. Some don't post or don't provide their real opinions as they just don't want the haters to try to beat them into submission with their constant hate. So, hang in there...it is only a message board, and some of these haters are really great guys when they come out from behind these avatars of theirs. Patience grasshopper, patience...let's see how this year turns out before we place anyone on suicide watch! Ha!
  3. No, you are not alone. But, it is great for the Mean Green and college football and often the communities that host these games. But, it is almost getting to be way too much. I recall when the bowls were many fewer and even the lower tier bowls had great match-ups. Some of the bowls today...well. But, again...how could their possibly be too much post-season college football?
  4. If UNT is not in the Liberty Bowl, this is the perfect match-up and bowl! Fry legacy, Big Ten opponent, close for our fans, New Year's Day bowl...what's not to like?
  5. Better game may well be in Denton at the Super Pit...Mean Green women take on Texas A&M at 7PM. If you are so bummed out about the men's team, then why don't you come and join us in support of the ladies? Could use all the home court advantage we can get. A&M is going to be tough. Come help. See you at the Pit for UNT's home game Monday evening. FYI...all* seats are general admission for the ladies games this year...so, buy a ticket and come sit where you like. *floor seats are still reserved seats...all the rest are general admission.
  6. Being tired...or not...had absolutely ZERO to do with the way the Northwood game played out! It was just BAD from start to finish. Need lots of work. We'll see how it developes...hopefully it does.
  7. Interesting. Saw a few backpacks on kids at the stadium today, and my wife carries a "purse" that is actually a soft backpack. Went through security easily. How big is your backpack? Apogee is no where near the only stadium that does not allow backpacks. Do you attend many college games?
  8. Congrats to the ladies and Coach Hedlund. Let's do this! Go Mean Green...beat Colorado College! Proving more than a few pre-season skeptics wrong just as Coach Hedlund predicted this group of ladies would do. Go get 'em!
  9. Mike's smiling because I told him I was thinking about going ahead and getting my checkbook out and getting it over with! You can also see The Alumni Association's Rob McKinney in the background...thanks for all your hard work on this event, Rob....and that is none other than UNTFan23 in the visor checking out the fireworks and the bonfire. Great fun!
  10. Who is Neal Pyles and why is he taking that pot shot at UNT? SMU student perhaps? Must be...guy knows ZERO about UNT judging by that lame tweet. Love the photo...the guy's comment...not so much. Can that be deleted from the photo on here?
  11. Ok, sold!
  12. Would love to be a fly on the wall in Coach Mac's first meeting with the team and the day one of those guys dogged it in practice or in a game. Now THAT would be worth paying to see!
  13. Sure...but is it a pic of UNT90, GreenDozer and KRAM1 together? Just sayin.....come on Harry! The perfect..."see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" trio! Ha!
  14. Fun time at the Pavilion last night. The free beer/wine and chips helped as well. Great viewing point for the bonfire. Got to talk with lots of GMG.com folks and have a lively BB discussion in person with UNT90 and UNTFan23! Ha! They made some good points, doubtful I swayed them any with mine...two against one and all. But, if they would post here a couple of things they told me in private last night...well...... Anyway...bonfire was great and the Alumni Pavilion is a great place to gather and watch. And, yes, the Alumni Pavilion will be open to one and all for today's game. But, I remind folks...we need your support. That Pavilion and the programs and events we provide takes money and support. If you are not a member of the Alumni Association but still come to pre-game tailgates at home and away games, to events such as the bonfire, etc., etc. sponsored by the Alumni Association, please do consider joining. At $40/year it does not cost much, but that membership means more than you realize to YOUR university...and in no way am I talking about it from only the monetary view. Today...homecoming 2013...would be a great time to renew your membership or to join for the first time. Your university and your Alumni Association need you! See you at the Pavilion and at the game! Beat UTEP!
  15. Got one for you. Sent it to Harry for him to post...I can never get photos to upload to GMG.com.
  16. It certainly could have...given that the proper questions were asked and there was no personal agenda in trying to mislead. Great idea. John probably has my number already.
  17. If so, my purchased season tickets sure have zero value. But...who cares...great idea. Might get a bunch more folks in to see the ladies play after the football game. Do it!
  18. Good choice, but I thought I saw that UTA was losing big last night to Boise State...they lost 116 to 87. Pretty much a blowout in Boise. Boise had a 61-39 halftime lead and cruised home in the second half. While Boise is pretty good, using some logic put forth on this board you would have to say Cross might just be available. But, would we want a guy who can't coach his players enough for them to beat Boise or at least not be down 61-39 at half? Sarcasm alert if you did not catch it. Just waiting for the apologists to now come on and say how that is not his fault and how he beat UNT, blah, blah, blah. So last year. The guy obviously forgot how to coach as those UTA players certainly had no part to play in that blowout, right? I know, I know...big difference, one game, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. Let the "usual suspects" negative away, but it was fun. Had to do something after that Northwood game last night! Scott Cross is a good coach and UTA is plenty happy with him. Doubtful he will be leaving to go anywhere unless for a much bigger program with a much bigger pile of money.
  19. So, after sleeping on it last night, here are my thoughts this morning. Where do I send the check? My bet with UNT90 on that min. 10 wins thing is looking pretty darn iffy right about now. The "sleep on it" did not make it seem any better. Early, yes? Opponents...perhaps...even the fans are less than thrilled....but shooting, passing, motion, defense and on and on. Lots of work to do. Might get a better indication of what's to come when the Mean Green play OU on Monday. If they cannot get a bit more up and play much better against OU, well, it might just be a loooooooooong season. Keeping fingers and toes crossed, but the checkbook and pen are both out in anticipation of "settle up" day! Wow! Thought that would be a 20-25 point win. Never dreamed that with the clock running down in the second half that Northwood would be throwing up a three to try to tie the game. Glad the kid missed. Ouch! Clunk of a game!
  20. I feel your pain!
  21. You hear that too Courtland?
  22. Thanks for the press and please play again. Were you at the game?
  23. No excuses! Tolerance levels for you young kids who are not responsible is really low these days. Buck up..get your priorities straight! Driving the No-Cal coast with a lovely companion? Likely story. The boss will not believe that for one second. Do you have an excuse from your Mom? Pictures or it didn't happen! How many suits did you take?
  24. Ok...my bad. Had no clue it was that touchy a subject for you since you post about it almost every week here on GMG.com. Would think a public board would not be where one sensitive about such things would constantly post about them. But, my sincere apologies to you. Understand completely. Won't happen again. Thought you would get a kick out of it or would not have done the post in the first place. Feel bad that I did...mea culpa. I have deleted the original post. Sorry.
  25. No room at the new place?
