Oops... That is funny. Maybe Kevin has a twin brother named Calvin? My bad...yep.. Funny!

Sure wish ULL was in CUSA...I can think of more than one team I would trade for them right now. LaLa making Tulane look silly right now! Ouch!

Choo to the Rangers

Lionel or American Flyer? -
You can buy it at the gate day of game for the same $20 price/cost. No worries!
-
Yes, yes it was. See, when you don't attend the games you can't even figure out which team won. Yep...it's win number 7. Big picture, small picture, no picture...win number 7 in the books. And, with what I have seen, yes, in person, from this team this year...any win is a good win!

Where you been? Don't you know about the wrinkled hundred dollar bill fans?

Says the Leach apologist. Terrible coaching. There you go again 90... Blaming the players! Ha! Just kidding with ya! And to think I missed this TV game while at the Super Pit watching the ladies give SMU all they wanted followed by win number 7 by the men. To think I could have supported the players just the same by staying home and watching Leach blow a bowl game! Just knowing Leach lost this to CSU is cause for a Yuengling or two. Nothing better than a Leach loss...except maybe a June Jones loss! OK, yes...a June Jones loss!

Says the Ryan HS grad. Ha! Bitter rival of Guyer HS, but, of course, that has no impact here. :-) But, I tend to agree with you...Kyler Murray (Calvin Murray's son) is, indeed, the real deal. One of the best HS QB played games I have seen (TV for me) in a long time. That being said, Jerrod Heard had a whale of a game himself for Guyer HS last night.

He is often surprised. :-)

Don't look now, LSU & JJ just beat Texas Tech!
KRAM1 replied to UNTMike81's topic in Mean Green Basketball
LSU should finish middle of the SEC pack this year. Not my prediction...what several LSU guys I know are saying. They like JJ a good bit right now think he is doing OK, but a tad under expectations in year two...but said he has at a min. 4-5 years to get the program competing for the title again. If not...well, the Tiger fans could get restless. Again...from the mouths of three LSU fans just after the LSU win over TX Tech. As poor as LSU was doing before JJ got these, I think he should given at least 4-5 years to have any chance of competing in the SEC. Seems to me he has already made progress toward that goal. But, I don't follow LSU. More of a Big XII guy...gee, I wonder why. -
Win number 7 baby! Three to go. :-). Still not feeling confident. Yes, this was an NAIA team, but it's a pretty darn good NAIA team. Those guys played hard and hit some big shots. It was good to see all the "we support the players" folks in attendance....oh, sorry did not see many players supporters in the stands today. Wondering how much the players appreciated all the support they got from the folks who were not there? I am sure they felt the love though. Wondering how many conference wins we see if UNT knocks down ZERO three pointers in conference? Question...could these guys be waiting for conference to get fired up a bit and start playing to anywhere near their potential? Way too much athleticism for the results to be as they are so far. I have to admit, it is greeting to be a bit of a challenge to watch these things. It's tough to watch long time fans leave at the end of the women's game and not return for the men's game and to hear another fan explain that a friend of ours who is not attending is not going to be coming at all much this year...sigh! Bottom line...win number 7. I keep recalling the folks who have said...just win. Well, this was just a win.

You sure about Evans? Going on past or what you have seen him do here? Oh, wait....
-
I see you down there!

Sounds good...great idea. Question...would it make you buy a ticket if you were not otherwise considering going? This sort of thing rarely, if ever, has any impact on my buying habits. But, that is just me. Advertising works or folks wouldn't do it, but do celebs of any ilk actually make any positive difference over just another sort of ad in bowl situations? I don't know. I know it doesn't impact me, but does it others?

Doubtful...but can certainly arrange a pick up time for you here in Denton sometime....you off on Christmas...oops...holiday break as yet?

Hmmmmmm...local kid signs to play locally. Interesting.

Who "you"? If the royal you, then sure, lots of folks do...especially in the non-profit world. UNT does much the same through the Advancement area. All significant donors have an Advancement Officer assigned to them. The officer keeps, or is supposed to, in close contact with the donor. So, UNT generally knows why or why not. I have been in discussions along these lines with folks in Advancement discussing certain situations with donors who I am familiar with on a personal basis. Often large donations are one-off, so a follow-up is not necessarily expected or anticipated. But, in many cases donations can be one become sort of a continuing situation. Yes, sometimes things happen that cause a donor to no longer give to an institution. The institution usually knows why or has a very good idea why. I know of some situations at UNT where relationships were bruised for one reason or another and have since been repaired. On the other hand, some lost are never regained. People are individuals and have various motivations. It's what makes the "donations" game so challenging. Heck, just look at the long time grudges some folks here on GMG.Com hold...works much the same with large donors at times. People are funny...yes, they are.

Both correct...that's why I constantly mention volunteering time and talent in lieu of cash. Again, and really try hard to understand...it is not how much...it is if...get it? Hope so. Time, talent and/or treasure...all good. Not a hard concept to grasp. At least I thought it wasn't. But, let's make this clear too....just sitting back and suggesting what other people should do and making no effort other than to tell someone else what "they" should do is not helping. Nor, is criticizing others for doing what they do while sitting back and doing nothing but criticizing their actions and telling them how you think they could have done it better. That is not helpful. Acta non Verba! But, we all support the players, right? Edit..sorry meant to quote a couple of the above postings here. Hit the wrong key...did not get the quotes in...but they were discussing folks with ideas perhaps not having the deepest pockets....very correct.

Local kid?

Assume you can pay at the gate as well, right?

Ernie will most likely be supporting UNT by attending one of the events being sponsored by the University. Probably the one where "cocktail attire is required" and hosted by President Rawlins I would imagine. Fancy affair I am told at the Omni.

Darn...are you having an LSD trip? You sound like some guy named KRAM. Be still may heat....totally agree! Excuses and talk....cheap and seemingly a hallmark of the UNT fan base. Like teams who have been losing, the UNT fan base needs to learn how to win. The HOD Bowl is the start. Let's hope the learning curve is not a steep one! Edit: But, we all support the players, right, even when we don't show up at the games? The players know the support is there through ESP! Right?

All I know for sure is that the QB competition will be fun for me to watch for next season. May the best QB win. I trust Mac to decide who the " best" for UNT will be. Fun times ahead for the Mean Green starting with a New Year's Day Bowl.

Talk is indeed super cheap..we see tons of it right here on this sight on a daily basis. If one bows to peer pressure such that they do things not appropriate then they are either very weak individuals or super immature. No one should ever give more than they are comfortable in giving...ever... to any entity. Heck, the church works on that 10% tithe thing pretty consistently. Ever see what percentage actually tithe? And, I know of no one exerting such pressure. If anyone feels that way...that's on them and perhaps means they need to take a hard look at themselves and figure out why it effects them as it does. If it is a guilty conscience, well, that's silly and 100% personally created. Peer pressure works on mature adult individuals only if they allow it to do so. If one has not figured out how to deal with peer pressure by the time they are college graduates, they certainly have some major personality issues brewing. I have personally consistently told folks...it is not how much it is if. Plus....there are other ways to pay it forward if one feels financial pressure for some odd reason....they could volunteer their talent or time or both. I have found the most intense pressure one feels comes when they try to justify why "not" as opposed to "why" in most every situation. But, we all support the players, right? Tony, you do what you can, I do what I can. No problem with that nor should there ever be.I certainly hope you were not referring to your own situation with your post. That would be very surprising. But, we have lots of those big talkers here who do nothing but talk and tell everyone else what they should do...yet do nothing but talk themselves. That is one of the challenges faced by UNT overall and not just in athletics. And it is something that must change if UNT is ever going to be considered "big time".
-
Please share your data on that percentage. I happen to know quite a few athletic supporters who have no interest in GMG.com and have no clue what I am talking about when I mention the board. Are you suggesting that the majority of supporters of athletics at UNT are members of this board and post regularly? If so...one word...silly.
