Great coffee cake still exists. Gateway has it and serves it often at functions I have attended in recent months.

Save The Date-Sat. March 22nd! Basketball Classic Returns!
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Folks...still need a few players....and really could use a donation or two or three...large or small...all count. Will have the shirt design posted soon....cool. If you would like one but are not playing just let me know..... $25 ... And for a good cause. Harry has the PayPal site up for registration fees and donations as well...check it out...makes it easy for you to donate and/or pay your registration fees. Really would be great if everyone would get behind this fund-raiser a bit. So far...very quiet. Realize folks are busy, but need some support for this event. Our Cheer Squad students get no scholarship funds yet put in hours and hours of work supporting UNT and it's teams. Can we step up, just a little, to help these student-athletes out with some scholarship funds? Thanks. -
Ok, let me try this again....I posted earlier a request that folks try to honor the spirit of this thread and not try to derail it. We have had a couple of folks try to derail it already. This is a thread to help our coaches in the player draft for the GMG.Com game. I would gently ask that those not playing and not supporting this project not post in this thread. There are plenty of others available. Thank you
-
Hopefully, this means you are playing this year as it is a thread to help our coaches (UNT90 and Andrew) in the player draft. Can't figure out why anyone not playing would want to troll this thread, so...I can count you in, right? Would be great to have you with us for this one. What size t-shirt for you? Please folks...if you are not playing in the game, please refrain from trying to derail this thread. It is meant to help our coaches and players. There are plenty of other threads where you can post. Thanks for your understanding and help with this.

Grown men...much different than teenage boys, but don't guess you would know the difference. Very telling...carry on....

Well, at least you are honest about it...but I think the "thread count" you note is indeed colored by your own position. Benford haters definitely have the upper hand. Don't believe me...just try to say something positive on here about the guy or something that in anyway infers that the players have some responsibility for the way they play and see where that gets you. Ha!
-
Was great to see him at the game. The kid does love UNT and cares for his teammates and coaches. Funny how some here said the guy would never set foot on the UNT campus again because he was so mistreated, and then the very first time he is in town with the Pistons he shows up hugging and high-fiving everyone with a great big smile on his face. Funny how reality doesn't match up with perception and opinion sometimes. If you talked to Tony one on one for any length of time at all you would know he really did enjoy his time at UNT and made some pretty good friends along the way. Good to see him get a bit of time in front of the home crowd. Next time the Pistons play in Dallas I hope he gets extended time and puts on a great display for his home town friends and family. Seems to be in a good situation with Coach Cheeks.

Breaking news -- UNT lands QB Caleb Chumley
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Lots of proving the naysayers wrong going on here within this class. Looks to me like Coach Mac is delivering on those promises to bring UNT back from the "dark ages". Congrats to young Mr. Caleb Chumley for making a great choice on where he wants to continue his playing career and get a quality education. Smart kid...well done Mac and company. -
Well, it is on the road after all. Going to be really tough to beat Tulsa at their house. Hope, yes....trying to be realistic about this team...little hope.

Ha...thanks for the hint. LOL

Most threads on the BB board end up that way as it always comes down to a "let's blame Benford" for everything thread and if anyone dare share a different opinion, which someone certainly will, well, it's off and running. Case in point...the crap spewed at one of our most knowledgeable and level-headed basketball posters recently. Why, because he dared to venture away from the all Benford, all hate, all the time theme. Just is these days. Get used to it or stay with the football board. The crap spewed at DT, where it was OK to talk about what some perceived as players shortcomings, seems to have died down a bit these days. You might can enjoy yourself more these for awhile.

Agree with Cooley about the need for quicker guard play. I saw some of that yesterday in Durant, Oklahoma while watching Clarke Overlander and the Ark Tech Wonder Boys...yes, believe it, the Wonder Boys, take on SE Oklahoma State. Both teams had really quick point quards...and what a difference they make. Was told that Div II is full of fast quick point quards that are just too small to play division 1 BB, so they end up in DII. Don't know if that's true or not, but I'll believe the source as he has seen lots of DII games in his time. Funny...the Wonder Boys coach subbed in and out as fast or faster then Coach Benford does. Situational and match-up subs I guess....the SE Okla coach was right behind him in subbing in and out. Good game to watch...SE OK got up big right out of the box, Ark Tech came back late to take a 5 point lead, but couldn't hold the lead at the end and lost a close one late. Did see one of the best dunks I have ever seen in BB....at any level...HS, College or pro. The Ark Tech player, absolutely crushed the ball through the net as in doing so, the player guarding him went sprawling to the floor! Absolutely a thundering dunk that was fit for ESPN highlights. That one dunk was worth the drive to Durant!

Agree with you here. Imagine that? Local guys choosing UNT...now, THAT is a good thing indeed!

Yes, it really is so very easy to do..,and fun sometimes to watch the response...not as funny when the shoe's on the other foot is it? But, you know...kids these days....LOL Glad you have emerged for the "all us young guys" crowd as their anointed spokesman now. One gets tired of the same cute little stuff over and over and over...so little creativity....but, kids these days...what you gonna do? Don't let it get to you...it's the internet, it's a fan board...go back and read some history here, "all the young guys" will tell you it's OK, it's just opinions...well, it's OK IF your opinion agrees with theirs...kids, kids, kids. LOL. Enjoy the ride....it's GMG.com and it's fun. Hang in there... :-).

You haven't been paying attention it seems...but, thanks for playing.

Interesting how many here think basketball players are kids and are not to be blamed for their actions either on or off the court, yet the same is not accorded to football players...I give you all the fan venom tossed at the HOD most valuable player, Derrick Thompson. Quite the double standard being reflected here by some. Let the justifications begin in 4-4-3-2-1.......

About 18 sec of PT during garbage time. Very nice of Mo Cheeks to get him into the game in Dallas...even for this short time.

You need a bit of a history lesson regarding the Super Pit...who controls it and why it was built to hold around 10,000. Some here have tried to tell you to no avail, so no sense trying again.

Almost pulled it off for Midnight Madness day this year, but it just didn't work due to scheduling involving the Super Pit. Maybe next year.. -

So, what UNT90 is saying is...it's not the coaching, but the players...blaming players is an interesting change for UNT90... Heck 90 they were all just kids and not at all responsible, right? Had to be the coaching! Too easy...couldn't resist. Will try to set up a draft this year for you and Andrew. No excuses then!
