  1. Picked up some great new silent auction items today.... Six varied and autographed HOD Bowl Posters-autographed by Coach McCarney Four Green HOD poly tees (Med and XL)-short sleeve Five Black HOD poly tees (Large and XL)-short sleeve Two Black HOD long sleeve poly tees (XL) Autographed HOD Bowl 8x10 photo...Coach Mac with trophy and AD Rick V. Three Nike Dri-Fit long sleeve grey tees (Large and XL) Two UNT "hey ref" tees...white with green lettering (medium) One green Nike polo...embroidered with "North Texas Football" (small) One pair Adidas Tennis Slip?..Ladies...white (Large) ... If you are a tennis player you know what this is! So, lots of cool silent auction items. Here's hoping we get a nice spectator turnout to help fill out the bid sheets. Auction should be up and ready around 3:30-4:00pm. Game tip-off is 5pm. Come on out folks, enjoy some Mean Green fun and help some great Cheer Squad members.
  2. As is usually the case with something like this if only those now bemoaning the lack of a FT Worth stop this year.....emphasis...THIS YEAR, not eternity....would have shown up and brought a few pals to the last few stops that were held in FT Worth, this discussion would not even be taking place. Why? Because there would be a FT. Worth stop. Maybe, just maybe, not having a Ft. Worth stop this year will actually help turn a future FT Worth stop into a "must attend" event. Besides...those that are interested can certainly find there way this year to Denton, Dallas, Plano or Gainesville. I have often made multiple stops on the tour. Can be done. Who knows, the Gainesville attendance might shatter attendance records...when such stops were held in Tyler years ago, word is the turnout was excellent. So...Tarrant County folks....make yourself known to RV and Company when you show up at one of this year's stops and let him know you will help get better turnout in FT Worth for next year's event. One thing about Mac...he absolutely hates talking at these things when fans don't care enough to show up in decent numbers. He has pretty much told us all that on numerous occasions. He, his staff and his players are doing their part on and off the field. And, least anyone here be of the highly mistaken opinion that I in any way think not having a stop in FT Worth is a good thing, I am willing to help do what I can to increase turnout should the Caravan return to a Tarrant County stop next year. Harry had a few good ideas as well. So, you Tarrant County folks willing to step up and be part of the solution? FT Worth could become the "must attend" stop. Could being the operative word here. I know at least four folks in Tarrant County that I think would be willing to help next year...what about others. Or, we can just blame someone else and talk about how it is someone else's job after the fact that there should be a stop in FT Worth. Come to any stop on the Caravan...just come...make yourself known and if you favor a Tarrant County stop let that be known as well and how you will help get the attendance numbers up. Really too bad that FT Worth is not on the list this year, but unless folks care enough to come......
  3. Ha! Easy...just go to the first page of this thread....all players and their teams in full display for the BB world to see. See you Saturday!
  4. Happy to have you aboard....I will have a shirt available for you. Welcome!
  5. Game update..... T-shirts arrived today, and they look GREAT....and, joy joy...everyone has one of the size they ordered! Also...picked up the trophies today. Who will win the most coveted trophy of all...."Most in need of Practice"? Five trophies will be awarded during the after game event at Rudy's....will Ragemaster5000 reign supreme again this year or has he been practicing and will lose the coveted honor? It could be a close race this year! Come out and enjoy the game...tip-off at 5pm this Saturday...UNT Volleyball gym. Should we let the fans vote?
  6. Want to place another bet on that? Don't forget...half-time presentation!
  7. Sanctions? Those are Sanctions? The Russians are correct....those are a joke! Are you kidding me? I'll bet Putin is shaking all the way to the Kremlin and his next strategy session. The Russians are laughing and rightfully so. If Obama had been Prez instead of Reagan at the time, the USSR would still be in full swing. Weakest president in the history of this nation. Guy has absolutely ZERO clue when it comes to foreign policy....the Israeli's figured him out long ago. The Russians just took a bit longer. Maybe he can just "sit down and talk" with Putin and Assad....that "talking to them" thing seems to working out really well. Just can't wait for his next "red line" speech. Powerful...powerful.
  8. Mike...I was there as well....and I went to the Dallas, Denton and Plano events as well....all were better attended than the Ft Worth event. Don't misunderstand...I am not advocating abandoning Ft Worth. But, I see no reason to keep hitting ones head against a wall when history has shown that turnout is sparse as best in FT Worth the last few years. Who knows what the future holds...hopefully, FT Worth will be back on the agenda.
  9. I'd bet Mexia would turn out more folks for a Caravan stop than has FT Worth the last few years.
  10. Hmmmmmm...as far as the Caravan goes, it was FT Worth that abandoned the Mean Green...not the other way around. Did you by any chance attend any of the FT Worth events? I did...dismal turnout....and that is being generous. Why not reach out to a new area and see what gives? Have tried Ft. Worth numerous times with no success...time to try something new. And, FT. Worth folks are free to attend any event they wish.....all who attended the Ft Worth event in the last couple of years, should they show up at the same Caravan stop would certainly not over tax the capacity. I often attend multiple Caravan events, and agree with those who say the Plano event hosted by Jordan Case and his auto dealerships is the best attended event year end and year out. I see no reason t o keep wasting time, energy and funds going to places that have demonstrated their lack of interest in such events. But, yes, now that the bandwagon is rolling perhaps more will jump on...hope so...all welcome.
  11. Turnout in FT. Worth has always been dismal. If folks in FT. Worth had turned out in numbers of any kind there may well still be a Caravan stop in FT. Worth. Went to two in FT. Worth....terrible turnout. I'd be willing to bet that the Gainesville turnout beats any I saw in FT. Worth.
  12. Not going to vote in this one...can we end in a tie? Hmmmmm...I'll check with the commissioner. NCAA what? This is GMG.Com BB Classic week. Let the game begin. Just to remind all our players that check-in and warm-ups will begin about 3:30-4PM with tip-off at 5PM. Not too late to make a donation here on GMG.Com in support of this event...Harry has a PayPal button up for your use if you are interested in helping and cannot come out to the game itself. Any donation...large or small would be very much appreciated and would definitely go to a great cause. Lots of posters here on GMG.Com...... The event/game is free and open to the public...come on out and enjoy the game and take a look at the routine our Cheer Squad will be performing at Nationals. Looking forward to seeing a lot of the GMG.Com "regulars" at this event...also...everyone is welcome to join us for the after-game beer and BBQ and awards presentation at Rudy's.
  13. Sure reminds me of another time in history when a dictatorial but popular leader took over territory from neighboring nations to "protect" those of a like ethnic background. History does indeed repeat and the world just sits and does nothing. The parallels are chilling. Anyone who thinks that if Putin gets away with this that he will stop here needs to re-think that and read a bit if history. "Peace in our time" ... Yep, heard that once before. How'd that work out for those who sat and did nothing?
  14. Sent you a PM yesterday. Get back with me when you have time.
  15. Many thanks Green59...got you down.
  16. Just wanted to alert everyone to the fact that we will have not one, but two...count 'em TWO autographed Brelan Chancellor TD run photos. Both of the same shot and both autographed by Brelan. As of right now we have a high bid on one for $125 by Green59...and we have a current high bid of $100 from Quoner for the second. Both will, of course, be on display at the silent auction on the 22nd at the GMG.Com BB Classic. But, if you can't make the game, you can bid right here on GMG.Com.....bring 'em on! ALSO...we should have yet another great autographed photo as well. This one a HEART OF DALLAS BOWL on-field trophy presentation photo of the trophy, Coach Mac and RV. Both Coach mac and RV will be autographing the photo...sorry, I have no photo to show right now as it is at the athletic department for autographing! But, I have seen it...quality stuff....BIDS anyone? Everyone...please come out and support this event. It will be enjoyable for sure...always has been!
  17. Ha...ha...I do...just hoping you forgot! I already have it set out for you so i won't forget! Yummy...Yummy Yuengling!
  18. What brew might that be Thor?
  19. Thanks...looking forward to having you with us again this year!
  20. Any additional bids for the autographed items? Time is drawing near for your "basketball heroes" to hit the hardwood and display some "unique" basketball talents in support of our great UNT Cheer Squad. You really do not want to miss this action. Not too late to make a donation through the PayPal site Harry has set up here on GMG.Com. Or, if you prefer to send a check, PM me and I will provide an address for you. All checks should be made payable to "UNT Athletics" with "Cheer Squad" on the memo line. Remember to come out on the 22nd to watch the fun, bid on the silent auction items and head to Rudy's BBQ after the game for some fun and trophy presentations! All are definitely welcome...the more the merrier...this is indeed a Kid friendly event, so bring the wee ones as well. Remember...the UNT Cheer Squad will unveil in public for the first time the routine it will be showcasing at the upcoming National Championships. Come take a look...fun times ahead.
  21. Shirts ordered...check Trophies ordered...check Silent Auction Items being gathered...check Teams set...check Referees set...check (even remembered the whistles this year!) Gym reserved...check Concessions items bought...check Balls, scoreboard, PA ready...check OK, we are closing in on GAME DAY. Please come out and enjoy some Mean green fans playing a bit of basketball in support of a very good cause...the UNT Cheer Squad...as they prepare for competition at Nationals! Don't forget...the Cheer Squad will unveil its winning routine during halftime of our game...first time performed in public! Be there to see the game and our great Cheer Squad athletes! MARCH 22nd...tip-off at 5PM...UNT VOLLEYBALL GYM!
  22. 30 pages and going...and to think, no one has changed their opinion or view yet. Telling I think.
  23. True you are, Mike, but it involves so much more than just running for public office. Odd, that some just don't understand the "lasting power" of the internet.
