Be at Rudy's BBQ Monday Evening for Coach Mac Show
KRAM1 replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
Biggest crowd yet for the Coach Mac Show. Greenjoe and Parks and Rec Rick stole the show! Greenjoe presented George with a "Russia State" T-Shirt and ParksandRec Rick presented George with a "The Rant" plaque! Thanks to both of these guts for their creative work...great stuff! Thanks to all who took time to come tonight in support of a Coach Mac and the Mean Green! Really fun show tonight..Mac was definitely "on" tonight and fired up for the LaTech game. Said LaTech was much improved from last year...great new QB and a much improved running game. No pads for our guts at practice this week. Mac indicated that this was "Wednesday" as far as practice and game prep was concerned...with five of five on FG's our freshman kicker, Trevor Moore, was named CUSA special teams player of the week. Thursday night is sunglasses night....students will be given sunglasses to wear...Hank encouraged the alums and fans to follow suit Thursday night. Hank indicated that beer sales went Very well and that they had tweeted a couple of things this week to help with the wait times. Coach Mac praised the student turnout and "encouraged" the alums and fans to match the students for Thursday night. It was Coach Simmonds who collected the sideline penalty Saturday...I think Mac has gotten over that now! :-). But, he was not pleased with the number of penalties Saturday. He did say several were due to the team's aggressive play and he does not want to temper the aggressive play...just wants the team to play smarter...not less aggressive. Mac had to leave early to get to practice. John Nitardy, new head of the Mean Green Club, took over after Mac left. He mentioned how great the Apogee atmosphere was Saturday and he also mentioned the nice student turnout. Really fun show tonight...thanks again for all who made the effort to come out in support. See you Thursday as the Mean Green whip up on LaTech. Go Mean Green! -
Keep trying...... Sometimes it takes folks longer than others .... It's the journey not the destination! Go Mean Green!

We will be there! Now let's see....who do I have to ask if I can get off work early? Oh, that's right...no one! Will be there in plenty of time to enjoy the tailgate scene... Just FYI....weather channel has a 60% chance of rain in its early forecast for Thursday...but, as I recall they said the showers would be early in the day. We'll see early forecasts are often seen to change as the day nears. See you Thursday at Apogee...rain or shine!

See you there! -
Heard from a player's Mom yesterday at the SMU game that at Texas the week before, the Texas players were digging down in the turf to collect those little rubber pellets and were then tossing the pellets in the eyes of Mean Green players! This "stuff" can really cause problems....especially if you wear contact lenses! Can you imagine trying to play with gravel in your eyes? I can't. Our players told the refs more than once, but refs refused to do anything about it. Players told their coaches, but still UNT could not get it stopped. That is really shameful and low class behavior. I really doubt that Coach Strong at UT endorsed such actions! Crappy way to play...sorry for them...low class actions...very low class! If this happened, and I have no reason to doubt the source of the information, Coach Strong needs to be made aware of this so he can make sure it stops!

First game with beer...call it a trial run like when a restaurant....except they get to have a "soft" opening before the actual to iron out challenges....this was the "soft opening" for beer sales. Things will work themselves out.

The fact that anyone has a complaint after the Mean Green destroyed SMU the way they did is really funny!
-
Agree with you...the Club area seats would have looked much better if the folks would have gotten out of the A/C Club Area and into their seats! Many did after the sun moved behind the stands more, but come on folks! It's football...you are supposed to be OUTSIDE! :-) No excuses folks...Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Wisconsin, Army, Penn St., Purdue, Kansas St., and Iowa State all kicked off at 11:00 am. No excuses....none...zero...nil he..this was SMU!

Great student turnout! Super job students!

Class Act by the Green Brigade. Thought it was none too classy that the SMU band was playing during our band's playing our Alma Mater after the game for the players.

A couple of basketball tidbits, thoughts on UNT’s schedule
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
OK, Mr. Broken Record...I have $100 that says there will be more than 900 for each of the Iona and the Creighton games. My record in betting with you is 1 for 1 in this basketball thing....want another shot? I'll make it a $1000 if you wish....you know, because you are so cock sure no one will come. Plus I think I can get more than 900 to show up if I just tell them I have a bet with you! What do you say? Talk is cheap you know....care to step up with the cash again? We can make it a donation to the Mean Green Club if you like....we on? How much this time?- 37 replies

Again...not a UNT event! But, as the resident GMG.Com Debbie Downer of all things UNT these days, I guess you just need to find some off topic way, even if it is oranges to apples, to justify the continued negativity. SSP needs to give you some hugs. And, I need to chat with Wendy. Hopefully you have not negatived her away! Can't wait to see how you whine about the great crowd size that will be at Apogee Saturday. That might just be epic! If there really is a "happy pill" we need to get you some and fast. Oldguystudent....I expect you to find them and drop a few in UNT90's beer Saturday. The whole "grumpy old man bit" has taken on a whole new meaning these days. I think the answer might just be tailgating...fresh air, football, coeds and all that....could be the answer...and of course, that beat down of SMU! See you Saturday, Mr. Grumpy pants!

Duh! Last time I looked the Fair was not a UNT event. But since you don't live here perhaps you did not know that!
-
You know what? I have never seen even close to 20,000 turn out for any UNT music or art event. Turnout at Apogee beats 'em every time! Any of you guys seen students line up days in advance for tickets to a UNT art show opening? I must have missed that. I guess I missed the billboards and newspaper and radio and TV spots announcing that Mozart recital too. Yep...BOR and Administration just ignore athletics....come on folks... Get yourself to Apogee Saturday and bring a friend. You will want to be part of the first sellout in Apogee history! Beat SMU! They deserve a good Mean Green whippin' !

With all the "stuff" UNT90 has been spewing lately and since I will be up there with him, I will do my best to see that he comes down along with those bread crumbs he is threatening to toss down. Can I get a high five for that? Well, maybe not...he is a bunch bigger than I am....but it is the thought that counts right? :-)

I have to sign in and post a big THANK YOU to John Williams, Jeff Brightwell and all the Oak Street/East Side folks for being such great supporters AND involved business owners. These guys all rock! This is another reason why my wife and I love these places and try to frequent them as often as we can. They represent to front edge of several local businesses who seem to be getting behind the Mean Green. They are leading the pack and making things happen. Some may not know this, but they stepped up in support of a recent GMG.Com flag football game as well...no fanfare, no PR needed....just came out in support. Some folks on here need to realize that a lot is going on in support of the Mean Green that they are not aware of happening...too bad because if some business down in Dallas were doing this sort of thing they would be on here telling everyone how great they were and how this never happens in Denton. Silly, just silly, but since these folks are not part of the Denton community as a general rule, they really have no clue how much effort is going on behind the scenes these days to "up" the support and visibility of the Mean Green locally. It is, of course, easier to criticize than to actually help. John and Jeff and their ownership group are really showing others how they can help and how it is also good for business. So, folks....come support Oak Street and East Side...on game weekends and during the week...especially you guys who do not live in Denton. Show some love for the guys who are doing more than their share to create a great game day atmosphere and to fill Apogee. These guys are the best....and they serve up a full pint of some great tasting brews! Believe me, I know...so does Thor! :-) Thanks, guys....my hat is off to you and appreciate you more than you can ever know!

Seems like the thorn is in your side. Justify yourself anyway you wish if it makes you feel better. Like I said, carry on. -

Oh, but the operative words here are "proper context". You have missed your own point. Odd. Carry on. -

Well, keep telling yourself that if it helps you. Learning inappropriate language, for the learned, should also teach them about its appropriateness. I guess that part from Shakespeare and the Bible was lost on you. Carry on. -

MGB: UNT post-spring depth chart, thoughts
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, still rehabbing foot. Cannot as yet go downfield in a sprint to cover for punts, long field goals, etc. can do the XP's which you saw during the spring game. As far as I know, that's still the status from the spring game. Look for him to be back and competing full speed (hopefully) during fall ball workouts. -
Right there with you, Joe.

Let's just sit down and talk to them. That seems to be working out really well these days...hey maybe CBL can run for election and use that as a campaign slogan or something. It ALWAYS works great with folks throughout history. Could even use the refrain, "Peace in our time"... Would definitely get the pacifist/hippie vote. It's a start, right? He might even get the electoral vote from Conn....I'm thinking Carter might still be available to run as his VP if the announcement comes pretty quickly. Might not want to delay too long to get with Carter. :-) Hey, SE-66 might even want to be CBL's campaign manager! Just think, first ever GMG.Com election slate....possibility? OK, OK, slow day here...just having some fun as this thread is pretty much heading the way of the climate change one....no real discussion...just same folks making the same comments over and over and over and over. Well, pretty much anyway. That's why it's in the pie thread, yes?
