If only I were close enough to give you a high five and a fist bump! .

This is an extremely well researched and composed post, and I appreciate the effort. This type of post reflects exactly what we should be seeing here on GMG.Com. Alas, we do not. Really appreciate being on point, not trying to be too negative or too positive and certainly not trying to derail the thread with "cuteness". Many thanks for your effort here.

Verdict is in on the 2014 North Texas Defense
KRAM1 replied to ColoradoEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I think we got you out if the negatives! . Folks see what they want to see. Their personal prejudices are showing when they cannot see the minuses along with the positives. Dajon is our best option...no question. But, he has a long way to go to be the QB that he has the potential to become. When we all look back on his RS Freshman year when he is guiding the Mean Green to victory after victory in his junior and senior seasons we will all clearly see the difference experience makes. He will indeed, and already has, made freshman inexperience-type mistakes. If one cannot see that, they are either blind or just too prejudiced to admit it. It is what it is this year....a time for learning how to be a D-1 QB. And, learn he will. It will be fun to watch. -
You guys are really funny. With our QB last season and earlier this season it was "he can't hit the open receivers" and folks were blasted when they dared to even consider that a receiver ran the wrong or a bad route...now it's all on the receivers and the QB has no responsibility. You guys are psycho!

Where is Pat Hicks now? Here's the answer
KRAM1 replied to ArmyOfMom's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I will always remember that mid-court shot Pat Hicks made against Texas. So much fun to have been there to see that game in person. That guy was an assist machine! -
LOL....and to think some folks on here mock RV for his coaching selections.
-
Why are people so compelled to tell us they are not supporting the team? We get it. It's OK. You have said your peace over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and again and again and again and again. We get it. Good for you. So, why keep posting it here again and again and again? If you dislike the direction the team is going so much...great, your choice, but doing the look at me, look at me, look at me I hate the Coach in every BB thread is a beat down....and a big reason why it is so quiet in here....if of course Harry actually cared why.

You are correct...OSU isn't Texas...it is a much better team at this point.

MGB: Auditors recommend UNT pay back $75.6 million
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
As I mentioned earlier....UTD has now reportedly repaid the state some $4.3 million due to a "miscalculation of funds similar to UNT's error". Yep...much smaller of an amount, but this whole thing is rippling through state universities, and as I pointed out earlier....more to come. UTD is just the first to report....they collected it over 3 years. They "caught the error". Well, so did UNT. So, watch for more such announcements in the coming weeks and months. -
MGB: Auditors recommend UNT pay back $75.6 million
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
While the overall situation is certainly not good, this newest report from the auditors provides a dollar amount several millions BELOW what was originally expected...which, of course is good news. And, UNT officials believe the figure will be even lower than it currently is when final reports and comments are submitted. The other "good news" concerning this unfortunate mess is that UNT has now a balanced budget, much stronger financial procedures and some very good new finance and budget officers. While challenging to say the least, it is good that the old practices were stopped and that better procedures are now in place. The repayment will take place over a 10 year period....IF, in fact, UNT is required to pay it all back. And, repayment and amount of repayment has yet to be determined. Word is that several other Texas state supported universities are quickly and quietly reviewing their procedures in this regard as well...and holding their collective breaths. Rumor is that UNT was not alone in such procedures. But, I really don't care about other universities...it is UNT that matters here, and UNT is getting its financial and budget house in much better order.- 54 replies

Inside Higher Ed: "Empty Seats, Fewer Donors Later?"
KRAM1 replied to Christopher Walker's topic in Mean Green Football
I have been advocating for this approach for several years now. I think it is by far the best strategy for the long term health and prosperity of UNT Athletics. I have had numerous discussions a long these lines with University folks in recent months. The University is very aware of the long term benefits. On the other hand, attracting fans to the alumni side will not be abandoned. Thus the efforts and coordination with the trains, busses and downtown merchants, the participation in the Concerts on the Square Program, newspaper ads, work with the local schools, etc. while folks can argue the pluses and minuses of such a strategy, finances determine a lot of it. With limited finances one needs to use available dollars where the better results could be expected. Draw 100 more fans to the alumni side spending the same dollars and attract 2-3,000 new students? New students who could become alumni side seat buyers in the future. Easy choice as far as I am concerned...and for one I hope this strategy continues and is expanded.- 62 replies

District not expected to take action on Convention Center
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I seem to recall, you eating many times in both these venues and so did (and still do) I. I fail to see how eating at a UNT venue before a home game is anti-Denton in any way. The caterers for these events employ Denton folks and, more often than not, are local area businesses. And, everyone there is supporting UNT which is the major employer in the City of Denton. Hardly seems anti-Denton to me, but perhaps you can help me understand how it might be considered as such. I am interested in your comment about UNT dragging its feet in relation to DISD's reluctance to join the partnership as well. DISD gets zero tax from the property as it sits...even with the abatement, they will draw tax revenue they currently do not have. That puzzles me a bit when folks moan about the tax abatement thing. It is, however, looking less and less like the convention center and hotel will become a reality...at least anytime in the foreseeable future. Now, THAT is pretty typical of Denton...very shortsighted, anti-business and anti-growth. Remember the Denia folks and all their whining about Apogee and how it will kill their neighborhood access? Did not turn out that way at all...as most knew from the beginning. They do not even block those streets off on game days any longer. But, that reality will not stop the same folks from whining again should the convention center idea ever get off the drawing board. -
LaTech tied with 1AA NW St at 27 with 1 minute left
KRAM1 replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
Yep...correction noted....still giddy over the UNT win. Was not paying close enough attention. Meant Missouri, but would love to see Vandy beat the 'Cocks. Not going to happen it appears. Thanks for the correction. -
LaTech tied with 1AA NW St at 27 with 1 minute left
KRAM1 replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
What it means is that La Tech's QB had a career game against UNT and UNT came out flat after killing SMU. It happens. It's college football. Check out a few other scores...So Carolina (oops...correction: Missouri) got beat today as well...they were ranked #15 (no...S Car was ranked 15...I need to pay closer attention...but I was still giddy over the beat down of Nicholls St.) I guess that coach they have just can't coach or recruit. La Tech played this week like UNT did last week. Again...it happens. Let's see which team shows up for their next games. My money is on the Mean Green. Fun and exciting to watch today....do not care who we played...it was fun and exciting to watch. Edit: I got the Missouri and S Carolina games mixed up as was correctly pointed out...thanks. Sorry 'bout that. Thanks for the correction. -
Who completed those stars? In the participation report for UNT it does not list Tanner Smith...I watched him play several downs and was yelling for Andy Mac to throw him a pass. Do these things get updated some time later? Just wondering.

San Antonio forward Tony Lewis talks visit to UNT
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Just one reason why your Benford rants lack just a tad bit of credibility. You were not here to suffer through Trilli....so, you really don't know what a bad BB coach hire looks like. Those of us who sat through those years, and still actually supported the players by showing up deserve Purple Hearts. You just gave no idea.....- 34 replies

Anyone who follows college football without a team or player bias knows this statement is right on point. Aggies never won their conference nor an SEC title with Manziel....but Manziel did OK for Manziel.

#8 Rank Baylor Playing At Lowly Buffalo?
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I'll give a crap about Baylor once they play someone other than one of the sisters of the poor. Number 8 my arse! And, instead of thinking that raising the athletic fee will elevate UNT to some higher level, folks might want to check out who is and is not listed as a member of the Mean Green Club in the current football programs. Instead of worrying about what "others" should do, folks might want to take care of the things they CAN control...such as their own level of support. Waiting for "others to do it" is exactly why UNT sits where it does with it's athletics program today. Posting ones current whine on a message board will not help UNT reach higher levels, but taking care of the things one can control and doing something about that just might. -

Right now two hours is plenty early. If you ever frequented it when it first opened three hours before game time you would know why we are trying two hours prior. If folks will come and pack the place...and not stay away because they prefer a certain beer for God's sake...the demand might just get us back to three hours prior. It's a great place to meet if you do not have a tailgate area set up...as Christopher said...hot day...we have misters...great day...super patio...great Student Alumni members manning the grill for those Syracuse Sausages....beer, soft drinks, clean rest rooms, three big screen TV's....just a great spot for alums prior to the game. The more folks come, the more fun it is...the more folks come...well, maybe we can extend hours. Just trying to be efficient with resources and meet demand. The Alumni staff does a great job....and it is harder than you think...to open and set up for events. And, remember....they have to shut it down as well...so, work is definitely involved. The folks who do this for our alums are great...come by, have a cold one and a sausage and meet these folks. You will be glad you did. Not a member? Join...great bargain at $40/year...better bargain at the Lifetime membership rate of $500 single/$600 joint. Hey...you also get a 10% discount on Mean Green gear at both the Barnes and Noble locations on campus (Apogee and big white tent store on campus)....just show them your CURRENT Alumni membership card and ask for your discount. I personally used it once again this week in the Apogee store location. Depending upon how much one buys...it can go a ways in helping to pay your membership.....that and not having to pay that $10 to get in the Pavilion on games days. Economics folks...economics if for no other reason.
